I really don’t know what it is about this place, but it just makes my running self more alive than ever. I was planning on waking up early to meet friends, but we got back way too late the night before, so I slept in, started my watch without really looking at it, and ran—15 miles @ 7:09 average.

I could be in the biggest running slump of my life and then go run in St. George and fall in love with it all over again. Maybe it’s the scenery, maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s all of the memories I have of this place… My earliest memory of this trail is biking next to my brother (the pilot) as he was running and training for cross-country. We have a 9-year age gap, so I was always his little buddy, and I’m pretty sure he took me to Dairy Queen after each run (bike for me) that I went on with him.

I couldn’t open my gel, but the lovely woman at the gas station let me use her scissors to do so. I was very grateful.

One thing I saw on my run that I absolutely loved–> A high school cross-country team. I ended up seeing them twice over the miles, and there was a teenage girl up ahead, leading a pack of about 15 boys. They were all working hard and she looked so strong. Wasn’t it only 52 years ago that women were ALLOWED to even run in the Boston Marathon?! The future is so bright for female athletes, and seeing that teenager out there crushing the run just made me so happy.

One thing I saw on my run that I absolutely hated–> this van scared the living daylights out of me.

Came back to everyone watching Is It Cake before packing up and heading to the pool again.

Andrew got in all of his biking dreams. We decided to stop giving gifts for our birthdays and choose experiences instead:

We spent many many hours in the pool.

And had 10 different cousins from both sides join us over the time we were there.

My brother had us over for his famous steak sandwiches.

We went out to dinner with my brother and SIL to celebrate Andrew’s birthday. I may have completely burned the roof of my mouth with this bread pudding but it was worth it.

Finished up with a walk around the botanical gardens.

And now we are back home to the cold!

Anything on a run that you’ve seen lately that you liked or didn’t like?

If you have siblings, what is the age gap?

A St George run. 10 miles @ 8:04 Warm enough here for the bathrooms to be open and drinking fountains to be on🙌🏻 Many many hills. Andrew then went out and got in so much biking. Pool all day. I stayed in the hot tub. The best spicy chicken pita. And then we went to … Continue Reading

Lots of purple for my Thursday run:).  8 miles! Andrew’s birthday started with cinnamon rolls and then taking Brooke to an ENT.  Pray that there is a cancellation because this girl needs her tonsils out ASAP, and everybody is booked here for at least 6 weeks. Of course, in-n-out happened! Skye has been waiting for … Continue Reading

Today is a very important day. It is Andrew’s 36th birthday. He has work off for a few days, so we are heading south for him to get in some mountain biking. (Shorts, top, shoes) When you finish your run, your friends notice that your shorts are on inside out… I wish I could blame it on Daylight Savings, but I swear I wear my clothes inside out 30% of the time. The worst was when a man on an elevator in California let me know that … Continue Reading

(Bra, shoes, leggings, top) Some friends are still in marathon training, so we rallied together to help one get in a 20-mile run with a 5-mile tempo in the middle. I finished with 14.6 miles @ 7:36 pace, and I can’t express how happy I am that I took two weeks off after Seville because I’m … Continue Reading
