Last night, I went to a group track session and we did ladders. I’m not a sprinter at ALL so the 400s and 200s hurt, and now I’m so sore today! It’s a great soreness because I know I pushed myself and went faster than ever before :) Thank goodness for group running! So my sentence is “thank goodness it’s a rest day because my legs don’t work”.

Lately for Pandora I’ve been listening to holiday piano…it’s mostly acoustic versions of Christmas songs but it’s so soothing and great background noise without being overly festive.

Reply

Gretchen, ladders are seriously the worst!! Especially the shorter sprints, you go girl!

My workouts have been really random for the past week because I’m not training for anything (gasp!). I still need to get up and run every morning though, because that’s what I enjoy doing. I did figure out I need to run at least 18 miles a week until the end of the year to beat last years mileage, so that’s my minimum goal!

So yesterday, I was in class catching up on your blog when the girls next to me started looking at my computer, and then they all proceeded to fawn over Brooke and you. They wanted me to tell you that:

1. YOU ARE GORGEOUS. I filled them in on who you are and your life and how you’re a beast of a runner. They couldn’t believe you were such a hot mama.
2. We all agreed how brave you are for blogging about the harder things. This is something I strive to do considering my whole blog is about my recovery from anorexia, and seeing you be so willing to discuss the strife you’ve endured recently is really courageous.
3. Finally, we all agreed that Brooke is probably the most beautiful child we have ever laid eyes on. I then showed them the recent photography picots of you and her and we were squealing in the back of a large lecture hall.

Basically, no work got done in that class and because of you, I now made three new friends in my journalism class! I realize this comment is so irrelevant to this post, but I just had to let you know. Thank you for being YOU, Janae. I never leave your blog without a smile on my face. It was a good decision adding you to my blog feed, and I have loved following your life for the past few years.

Hope you are having a fantastic Thursday!

Hi Janae, I have been following your posts for about a month now and I find your posts super motivating and fun at the same time, thank you for sharing yiur life and running experiences here. Keep up the great work and best of luck on your upcoming marathon!
Looking at your Nike video post today made me want to share my opinion here: I hope next time Nike makes a motivational video, they would simply include more female athletes! Look at the entire video again, there are perhaps 2 or 3 female athletes at the beginning there (one does not look satisfied with her performance) but in none of the victory scenes (toward the end of video) you see a woman and the only mention of “she” is as evil. I think it is partly the responsibility of us, female athletes, to bring this up again and again that we are no less, we do have big dreams, and we can wake up at 6:00 am, make sacrifices and also balance our work, family and life to achieve them too. In fact 57% of running even finishers in America are women! :) ” l think it is about time the society and the big corporations start acknowleging strong women”. And I think that is my sentence for the day:)

Reply

I love your blog and how fun your pictures are.

I have a couple of questions:
Where is that store? I love some of the things in it and would love to stop there next time I visit my folks.

What tracker were you using for your workouts? I do something that looks similar in paper, but would love to make it electronic.

Thanks!

Hi Janae! I went to Portland for work this week and had a layover in SLC. My whole trip was inspired by you :) I finally had Cafe Rio in the SLC airport for the first time and I now understand your obsession. I went to Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland (I tagged you on instagram) and got an Apple Fritter–but it had bananas, PB, and Chocolate on top. Omg out of this world good! So that and many more doughnuts were my last desserts :)

I ran with Alanis Morrissette in her first marathon (actually her twin brother, Wade ran with us also). There’s way too much “ownership” in that sentence than reflects the actual situation – but it was a very small marathon – around 200 — so I certainly felt like we ran it together. And she was very kind to chat with me at the end. I <3 her and her music.
