Silentish Saturday!!

Just a comfortable 28 degrees when I started my long run.  I did 18 of the 19 miles up and down the canyon and I somehow survived the freezing temperatures until it started to warm up a bit.

First 11 @ 7:45ish pace and last 8 @ 6:30… some drink breaks and walk breaks over the river bridges (because they were really slippery) happened too.

Brooke hung out at my dad’s office while I was gone and I was pretty excited to make it back to her.

Some errands were done and this furniture store had FREE ice cream and the coolest slide ever.

Then we picked up Brooke’s race bib and shirt for today!

The race is .5 miles and i get to run with her.  I can’t wait.

A Halloween party at a cabin with Bree.

I brought my favorite apple dip.

And there was plenty of other deliciousness to refuel with because 19 miles makes me hungry!

I hope you have a Happy Halloween!!! What are your plans today?  Anyone racing?

So glad you’re running long again. Good luck to Brooke today!!! Can’t wait to see pictures.

I have my last double digit run of this training cycle, race day is in 2 weeks!

I hope you and Brooke have so much fun racing!! I have an 18 miler planned for this morning to finish off my peak week before the taper begins!

Aw!!! Good luck Brooke! I know you’ll do great! :)

On the agenda today, a Halloween 5k.

You and Brooke running is precious!!

I have a small Halloween 5k today I’m doing with my mom and dog- looking forward to a shorter race after a 15k last weekend.

Happy Halloween! Brooke is taking after her mom, I’m know she’ll be awesome!

I was supposed to do the last XC race of the season today but it appears that I went too hard and too fast these past couple of months and my body didn’t like the combination of road racing/XC racing/ basketball. I think I have an IT band injury so I’m going to see a doctor next week. For now, I suppose cross-training is in order.

I am taking my little sister out trick-or-treating tonight. First night not going out myself, so it’s kind of a bittersweet experience.

Happy Halloween, Janae! Have a great race! I’m about to run easy before work. Then my grad program is having a party!

Way to go on the long run Janae! Brooke is way too cute in her race shirt and number. I am running a 10K trail racec with my son, followed by a 5K with my daughter (who’s name is Brooke by the way). It’s pouring rain out so this is going to be a new experience.

Happy Halloween!

Then I saw the last part of your sentence.

You are gonna crush it!

I wish I could go out! I’ve heard that the NYC Halloween parade is awesome!

Good luck to Brooke!! How exciting! Running 5k this morning! Arrived 1 1/2 hours early since newspaper had time wrong. Extra warm up time!

Reply

Awesome job! I haven’t run long since Chicago but thinking about a 10 miler today. Funny how your “long” run changes after a marathon, or at least for me it does so I can recover properly! Have a great weekend!

Reply

Trying to get out the door for a long run (it’s cold and rainy, bleh), then we are headed to Chicago for a wedding!

Reply

Have fun at Brooke’s race!

I haven’t run long since my marathon, but it’s really pretty out today, so I may go a little longer than usual. Later there will be football watching and food.

Just handing out candy with the pups. Happy Halloween! Hope Brooke has a great race :)

Happy Halloween!! I’ll be trick or treating with the kiddos tonight but I have a 10k run on the agenda for this morning. It’s frosty out but I’ll take frost over snow any day of the week!!!
Oh and I have the same compression socks you were wearing in the photos and for whatever reason it makes me happy to be a twinner with janae ;)

Just preparing for the NYC marathon tomorrow. I’ll be obsessing over the hourly forecast and rethinking my outfit and ability to finish. So nervous.

Every Halloween my grandma has a skeleton soup party so that’s the plan for today. And trick or treating.

Great job on your run! I’m enjoying the off season, so easy kickbike trip in the beautiful autumn weather finished off with treat stop at my favorite cake shop … Check it out at http://www.sweetsecretofraw.cz … One more reason to come visit me in Prague :) have fun at the kids race! Surely Brooke is gonna rock it! :-)

Congrats on the 19-miler and GOOD LUCK BROOKE! I’m sure she’ll crush all the other runners :)

When she gets a little older, you guys should run the Hot Chocolate 5K together! Fun race series and the chocolate at the end is delish!

I am working then pet sitting for a bit…………then home with the husband to watch some scary movies! I love Halloween!

Reply

28 degrees??? eek. I would be bundled up and not in shorts haha! but then again you run much faster than me :)

Is this brooke’s first race??? adorable!! When i have kids we are definitely doing that.

Reply

Amazing 19 milers! Can’t imagine running with tank top, arm warmers and shorts in that low temperatures though. BRRR!! And I just noticed your new Garmin, but you had it on your last post too. How do you like it so far?

HAVE FUN, BROOKE!!

Reply

can’t wait to hear about Brooke’s first race!!

I ran a 5k this morning, and there was a 1 mile kids’ race following and omgosh its the cutest thing watching their tired little faces crossing the finish line. love it!

way to go on your long run!! 28 degrees?!! I would’ve worn a parka.

Reply

Love that you ands Brooke get to run her first race together! Have so much fun! We’re having friends and family over!

Reply

You really got right back into the high fitness level you were at before you got sick! Incredible. Have you decided on which marathon you’re doing? Maybe I missed it in a previous post. Have fun today!

Reply

Can’t wait to read Brooke’s race report! :P I was going to go for a long run (for me!) today, but I was sick (like, sick sick) last night, so I slept in instead. My stomach is feeling good, but I don’t like the idea of trying to tackle a long run unfueled and dehydrated, and I don’t trust my stomach to eat yet.

Reply

Brrr! Your pic of you in shorts and tank at 28 degrees made ME cold!

Hope Brooke has a blast!

Reply

Amazing job on those 19 miles! I completed somewhere around 14 miles this morning (I explored a bit, so I don’t really know how far I went) in perfect 65-degree weather. Now I’m wolfing down breakfast/lunch and about to go volunteer at a Trunk or Treat event!

Reply

I always find it funny when someone says “freezing temperatures”…but then I see a picture of them wearing shorts and a tank or long-sleeve. If it were REALLY freezing, you wouldn’t be wearing that!!! We have snow here and I’ll be in long pants, jackets, mittens and an ear warmer :) HAPPY Halloween and race day!

Reply

Happy Halloween! Our plans to do a 5k with the jogging stroller were scrapped because it’s cold and rainy :(

Reply

Congrats on 19 miles! My plans for Halloween include marathoning some horror movies with my fiancee and playing some horror video games.

Reply

Good luck Brooke! Run really fast:)

Reply

I did a 5k with my mom this morning and it was her first! I also won my age group :) it was a small race ha!

Reply

Way to go on your long run! You are amazing! :) And I can’t wait until my little girl is old enough or her first race :) I love that you get to run it with her!

Reply

Yay Brooke’s first race! That is awesome! I can’t wait to hear all about it!

I was supposed to go run 9 miles this morning, but I haven’t been feeling 100% all week, and thought that if I ran that much (about 2 hours for me), it might make me worse and not able to run next week. Just a bit congested and don’t want to over do it. Other than that, chores and just relaxing are on the menu for today.

Reply

I can’t even imagine anymore what 28 degrees feels like, and I couldn’t run in that outfit in 50 degrees, let alone 28. Eager to see how the race with Brooke went! Adorable!

Reply

That is neat that you can share running with Brooke. Have fun today. Your apple dip looks good too. We are going to take our Cocoa to the puppy park tonight!! Have a fun weekend.

Reply

City of Oaks Marathon tomorrow morning; helped at a water stop for our training group’s mock half this morning, which was so much fun though!

Good luck to Brooke! Running is a great thing to share in a family :)

Reply

Wow you are such an inspiration! Great run! No races today in my area and just planning on handing out candy to all the treat or treaters.

Reply

I love when kids races have the bibs & full details like an adult race! That will be so much fun for you two to do together!

Reply

Hope Brooke rocked her first race!

I did a 10K today. Loved it. Did the same race last year and was able to knock off 8 minutes on my previous time.

It was 28 degress when I woke up this AM. I live in ME on a saltwater marsh. The salt water had a thin layer of ice from the overnight temps. I love it tho, no matter how cold it gets. Happy Halloween!

Reply

I can’t believe how cold it is there!! Great job with your long run! I had a half marathon this morning and Halloween plans now are to eat chili and watch football! Have a great night

Reply

19 miles! So glad you are back to your long run mileage. Brooke’s bib is awesome.

Reply

I hope Brooke kills it at her race! I think that is such a fun idea and I love how you are raising her with an active spirit. Happy Halloween Janae!

I need to acquire some of those running sleeves – where did you acquire yours?

Brooke is so adorable! I hope her race when well. :)

I went for a slow longish run. I’m easing back into running and it felt great!
