I am perfectly aware that shoes shouldn’t make me as happy as they do but these ones just made my week.

And these ones on this trail in this weather just always start the day off the right way.

Had a fun date last night and ate this delicious turkey/avocado/bacon sandwich… a great way to carb load for tomorrow;)

Saturday’s race elevation map (I definitely remember that hill at mile 9 from last year)… no goal pace for Saturday, I’m just going to run for fun because I am not in racing shape at all right now.

I was driving to my mom’s house at 11 last night (aka I am never driving around that late at night) and I saw a bunch of runners out?!  I thought people only ran that late at night for Ragnar.  Anyone reading a super late night runner?

Anyone listening to the Undisclosed Podcast (more info about the case on Serial)?

Who has a race this weekend?  Running just for fun or are you trying to get a personal record?  Who has a long run?

Seattleites—>  we won’t have a ton of free time this weekend but are there any must-see/must-eat places that I have to get to?!?

Woo have an awesome time in Seattle girl.! And have a good flight :)

That picture of Brookes sleeping, wayy too cute.
Good job on the foot pic while running. Ha

Reply

I think the latest I have ever run is like 8pm…but now I pretty much only run in the mornings. I have a 5k on Sunday…no expectations because its supposed to be really warm! Good luck at your half!

Reply

Undisclosed Podcast is awesome! If you liked Serial I highly recommend! No race this weekend, but hoping to get in 10 easy miles tomorrow. NYCM training picks up in 4 weeks so just keeping my runs relaxed for now! Good luck in Seattle!

Reply

They don’t sell Swedish Fish down here in South Africa, so there’s a whole nation down here who’s never tried it :) . Sounds good, though!

Reply

Um I need to listen to that podcast!!

Swedish Fish are amazing. I remember when I first started reading your blog you gave me major Swedish Fish cravings. So thank you for that.

I am definitely not a late night runner. I either go in the morning when I don’t work, or around 4 pm post work.

Reply

I’m not a late night runner, which is perhaps one reason my race last night was so awful. I once did a race that started at midnight. I don’t recommend this–it RUINED my stomach for days.

I won’t be racing this weekend but will have a longer run tomorrow or Sunday. Hope you have a fun time in the half in Seattle! Miles of SMILES! :)

Reply

I used to run after I got off work at 10 pm but I can’t imagine doing that now!

Utah Valley marathon tomorrow then a much needed break from training! Have fun in Seattle and good luck!

Reply

Good luck in Seattle! I’m sure you’ll kill it. :) Please eat an extra donut for me….

Reply

Definitely not a super late, or anytime of night, runner. I can’t stand running past 8/9 in the morning!

Reply

Good luck in Seattle!
Such a cute snuggle pict! Wish mine were still that little!

Reply

I have never tried Swedish fish but do not like gummy bears, worms etc. so I figure I would care for fish either.
I would not be able to run at night and get to sleep afterwards and still get enough sleep. Usually pretty “jazzed up” after a run. Night run sounds fun though, if you had someone to run with.
Have a great race ( and donut!)

Reply

Good luck in the race! The hills in Seattle are so crazy to drive on, much less run on!
My must-do for Seattle is getting fresh fruit from the Pike Public Market.
No race this weekend, just a couple training runs for the Portland Marathon.
Have a safe trip!

The tides are going to be low, so you should check out some tide pools around noon or midnight! Golden Gardens is fun and beautiful, or check out Discovery Park, and you will probably see some starfish!

Reply

I’m running rnr Seattle too! I’ve run it every single year! I hate those hills, but so few races around here are on Saturday that I can’t be picky. I am so out of shape, I’ve done zero training for this race. I’ll be happy if I finish it, after which I’ll probably be mad at whatever time I run.

Reply

That’s one thing about Utah. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is, there is always someone running. I can’t run later than 9 pm or I just won’t sleep.

Reply

If you have time to hit Pioneer Square, find Elm Coffee. They have an amazing tea collection and these super-fun-looking coffee sodas for the summer! Plus they stock pastries from London Plane, which are qua-li-tay.

Reply

Good luck! I am jealous. I have always wanted to go to Seattle!

Run fast, run straight!!

Reply

I’m hooked on Undisclosed, wish there was a new one every week!!

Reply

The other night coming home from work at like 930 there were so many runners out! I was like omgsh I got my run in 14 HOURS earlier. CRAZY! And we might not be friends after this but I don’t like swedish fish at all. I can’t do the taste for some reason, but me and SPK are tight. :) GOOD LUCK this weekend!

Reply

Safe travels and have an awesome time!

Reply

Did you see that Trident just came out with Swedish fish gum? I didn’t try it yet but I did spot it in Target!

Undisclosed is awesome! I’m looking forward to following your weekend, I want to do RnR Seattle next year!

Have fun! We’re going to Seattle next Friday to visit family :)

Reply

I’m heading to Seattle today too!! So excited to visit one of my favourite places and run a race for fun too! Good luck! Where are these amazing donuts you speak of? Haha!

I’m definitely a morning runner :)

Reply

Popcorn and Swedish Fish! Two of my favorite things! And yay for great dates!!

Reply

I’ve never been to Seattle! But I have always wanted to go. It’s only a 17 hour drive there? Not as bad as when we drove across the U.S. in 40 hours!!! I need to plan a trip there right now!! :)

Reply

I started Undisclosed last weekend and really enjoy it! I would love to know what REALLY happened! Enjoy Seattle.

Reply

I’m doing a neighborhood 5k this afternoon and definitely taking it easy. It’ll be close to 100 out and it’s a super hilly course, plus I ran a half on Sunday. I’ll just enjoy the scenery and hope to finish in one piece :) Good luck at your race! Hope you have fun!

Reply

I’ve never been to Seattle, but I know it’s prone to grey skies. Good luck in the race, J! Have fun with it! :)

Reply

GOOD LUCK this weekend!!! I’ve never been to Seattle, but I hear it’s awesome. I’ve never had Swedish Fish… I’m racing a 10k at home this weekend. I hope I can PR, but it’s also my first race of any distance this year, so I mostly just want to enjoy it and hopefully get the race fever back.

Reply

I listened to Serial obsessively and I’ve listened to a few episodes of Undisclosed — it’s alright, but I think I liked the storytelling quality of Serial better. I’m really into the new podcast from our local paper (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) about a case here in GA called Breakdown. Give it a try!

Reply

I honestly do not know how people run that late at night. They must feel the same way about early morning runners.

Good luck and have run racing in Seattle. You picked a great weekend to go – awesome weather! I always take a trip to the waterfront when in Seattle, just because it is so beautiful!

Reply

Long run tomorrow is 8 miles, but it is going to be HOT, so I am not super-excited about it!

Have fun in Seattle! I am going next month and would love tips!

Reply

I’m racing tomorrow! Half marathon and I am going for a finish of 2:00 (cutting 11 minutes off my first half!) Excited and nervous! Good luck to you too and have fun!
I am definitely not a night runner. My body would not like me. I like my sleep and rest too much at night ;-)
I have listened to Undisclosed Podcast- great play off of Serial.

Have fun in Seattle! I will look forward to your Instagram pics. I’m @ Pace_with_Grace :-)

Reply

I’m travelling to Toronto tonight to run the Nike Toronto 15K. It is my first long run of the marathon training season, so I’m really “racing” it – more there to get the sweet Tiffany&Co necklace and have a ton of fun!

I don’t run at night – unless it is in a race situation.

Reply

Me too!

Reply

Good luck on your race this weekend!

Reply

Running at night is the BEST! They have a night run out here in Vancouver where everyone gets headlamps in their package and everyone has to wear one. The Seawall lights up with all of these dancing headlamps. Have a good race! I’ve only run the Seattle half that’s in November; I’ve always wanted to do this one.

Reply

chevk out Alki beach in west Seattle! Eat at Matador there in west Seattle- fantastic tex- mex!!! Have a blast!

Reply

Ah Undisclosed. Mind blowing

Reply

Seattle is the. best. ever. Honestly, in every neighborhood, pretty much anywhere you go is fantastic.

For baked goods/pastries that you’ll LOVE>> Macrina Bakery in Belltown (it’s super short walk from Pike Place market), it’s AMAZING. For phenom homemade donuts >> Lola restaurant, it’s a Tom Douglas restaurant

Top Recommendations:
Pike Place Market: Seatown Seabar (breakfast), Steelhead Diner (lunch or dinner)
Belltown: Pintxo for tapas/dinner
Multiple Locations: Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream (touristy but so worth it)
Downtown: Serious Pie pizza

If you can go to Bainbridge Island (closest island via ferry) – take advantage, it’s beautiful and check out The Pegasus Coffee House (their menu changes daily but it’s always really good!)

Reply

Molly Moon’s is so good…and fun!

Reply

Hit up Sitka & Spruce!

Reply

TOP POT IS THE BEST!!! ahhh I love them so much!

I’m running the Oakley Women’s 10K tomorrow. It’s one of my favs. I love all women races.

Have fun in Seattle !! <3

Reply

Born and raised in Seattle :) it is such a beautiful city but if you ONLY have one photo op go to the gum wall in post alley – yup a wall completely covered by chewing gum :) Also a latte at the first Starbucks in Pike Place is necessary! Have a FABULOUS time!

Reply

Welcome to Seattle!! The weather is going to be perfect for the race tomorrow! It has finally cooled down a bit from the mid 80s we’ve been having. I’m running my second full tomorrow and am very excited! I would say the Pike Market is definitely a must and there is a little stand that has fresh mini doughnuts that you might want to try ;). Hope to run into tomorrow!!

Reply

I’m going to read everyone’s comments about Seattle recommendations because I am MOVING there in 5 WEEKS OH MY GAAAH.

Good luck girlfriend, enjoy every stinkin mile! xoxo

Reply

I have a 9 mile long run this weekend…but I’m still trying to figure out how to fit it in my insane weekend schedule. I think it will have to be moved to Sunday.
My fiancé used to be a late night runner when he was a bartender. And by late night, I mean, wee hours of the morning. He would get off work at the bar and go run for an hour. My sleep schedule is glad that’s over:)

Reply

Molly Moon’s in Seattle for ice cream (I’m partial to the strawberry balsamic flavor). Macrina bakery (no donuts that I remember but you literally CANNOT go wrong). Portage Bay for the most delicious breakfast.

Reply

Have a great time in Seattle!
Swedish fish are my go to fuel for marathons :)

Reply

We don’t have Swedish Fish in Ireland, I’ve always wondered what they’re like – I remember back when you ate them all the time and were always posting pictures and I really wanted to try some! I’ve got a 5k next Thursday and 9.5 miles on the schedule for tomorrow. Oh and I’ve been a really late night runner occasionally too, sometimes the coolest run to do is around the city at 11pm!

Reply

You MUST eat at Portage Bay in the South Lake Union area while you’re here along with visiting Greenlake! You’ll love both!

Oh yeah and also you MUST hit up Kakao for an iced chocolate chia! Delicious! :)

Reply

– Yay Seattle!! Good luck! Looks like you will have some great weather. Enjoy Top Pot!
– I will definitely be getting Undisclosed
– I’m not typically a late night runner. I have done 2 relays (Ragnar NW Passage and Hood to Coast).
– No race this weekend. Gearing up for marathon training soon.
– GO HAWKS!

So this happened at my half marathon last Saturday……….funny but odd! Us southerners are weird.

I have never had (or heard of, till I started reading your blog) Swedish Fish!! I don’t know where I went wrong!

Along the same lines, even though I’m an early 1980s baby I’ve never played Oregon Trail.

I didn’t grow up behind a rock I promise! I just missed these somehow??

Reply

yay have so much fun in the pacific northwest! i live in portland and it’s supposed to be a gorgeous weekend here!

that apple fritter looks too good and good luck with those hills…woof.

Have fun in Seattle & with the half marathon! I envy your metabolism. You seem to be able to eat anything you want and never gain a single pound!

Reply

Good luck running girl! Miss your face. DDP’s and a catch up on our returns! xoxoxo

Reply

I love Seattle this time of year! And yep, that sandwich had me drooling!

Reply

I’ve never listened to serial. I’m not sure if I could get through a run just listening to a podcast. I’m so much of a music pumper-upper, I don’t know if it would work!

Reply

Have a great time in Seattle! I love your Gap shoes, too cute!

Reply

I was just in that exact top pot shop this morning getting a dozen donuts for the office! Downed mine (chocolate on chocolate) in 2 minutes.

I’ll be running the seattle rock and roll half marathon! See you around! Hopefully!
Molly moons is rad, but also any Thai restaurant. So Good.

You are going to do so great! I can’t wait to hear all about your race :) Have fun!!

I have been meaning to comment that you MUST try the blueberry fritter at top pot! As a fellow apple fritter lover, the blueberry fritter is unreal! I went last year on your recommendation. So glad you shared! Have a fabulous time in Seattle!

I have NEVER had Sweedish fish, and until a few years ago, I didn’t even know what they were!!

I too am addicted to all the things Serial/Undisclosed. My other #1 favorite podcast is Mystery. You HAVE to check it out…especially the Belt Buckle episode.

This is my first time EVER to comment on your blog, but I am the one who tagged you on Instagram for that meme that was the checklist (I think) that said, Single, Married, In Training…. Basically this means that you can trust my recommendations.

Reply

Have fun in Seattle! There are coffee shops with donuts on every corner! Go up to the top of the Space Needle if you have time!

I’m one of the nuts that you’ll see out running at 11 pm or midnight as I work late and I’m a night owl. Plus I almost always have the streets and paths to myself.

So funny how Brooke won’t take her pretty dress off, Swedish fish are the best, and that sandwich looks SO good!! I’m running a 1/2 tomorrow just for fun.

Reply

Good luck in the race tomorrow. I live in Seattle and wish I were doing it, but I’m in no shape right now to run a half marathon, let alone race one. I let myself get lazy after having a little one. But, now I’m motivated and getting back into running, so maybe I’ll see you there next year! Enjoy your weekend!

Reply

Undisclosed is so good!!

Enjoy Seattle, and good luck on the race!!

I purchased the pure flows 4 this morning!!! You had a lot to do with it. I had the original purple pure flows and loved them so much.
Thanks girl!!

Good luck in Seattle. I am running Nike in Toronto, it’s more of a run/walk since I wasn’t running as much due to a hip injury. I want my Tiffany necklace so I’ll walk if necessary!

I am not a night runner. There are two half marathons I want to do that are at night and I can’t envision me being awake or energetic enough…

Reply

ah, there’s the apple fritter… good luck! stay safe!

Reply

What??!! I have to listen to the Undisclosed!! My office is going to love me for sharing this with them.

Have so much fun! I love Seattle and running a race there sounds like so much fun. Travel safe, friend!

Reply

I am definitely a late runner! My running bestie is a nursing student (craaaaazy hours) and I have late rehearsals/football games for my band, not to mention a kiddo! By the time we get out to run its 10pm or later…but it’s nice and cool out!

Reply

I’ve actually never had them! I see them from time to time but have never had the urge to buy them (I actually don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone buy or eat them before!)

You should come crash our running groups photo at 6:15 if you have time! We are the Seattle Green Lake Running Group and we are also the pacing group for the race! We are meeting at the round-about under the space needle for the picture! http://www.meetup.com/Seattle-Greenlake-Running-Group/

I’m not from Seattle but have been there and Loved Pike’s Place market

Reply

LOVE Swedish Fish!!! They are supposed to be great carbo loading for a race!
Have a great trip to Seattle!
I did run really late at night once because we had a crazy day and I was in the middle of marathon training and needed to get it in + it did not happen in the am.
Sooo, off I went with my hubby on his bike. It was fun! Mornings are better though :)

Reply

Good luck for the half marathon! Looking forward to reading the recap! I have never tried Swedish fish and they definitely don’t sell them in New Zealand – I am however, going to Michigan in July for my first ever trip to the USA as an adult (and my first trip away from my 2 year old!) – maybe these should go on my list of ‘things I must try’ along with a In and Out burger haha. Any other recommendations of food to eat in the USA – hook me up!

Reply

Kukuruza is a Seattle based local company that makes amazing and totally addicting popcorn! Enjoy Seattle and the NW. Good luck with the race,

Reply

Swedish Fish! Love ’em!!! I don’t run that late, but I’ve come close on a number of occasions.

Have a great race this weekend! And safe travels!

Reply

Good gosh girl, how do you meet all the single men for dates!! I’ve been single for 5 years and have dated(?) one man. I’m sure the fact that I cohabitate with my ex might have something to do with it, but nobody knows that until after they meet me, and nobody is even meeting me!!

Reply

I am Swedish on my Father’s side, and I have NEVER had Swedish Fish! But, I can eat #allthepopcorn :)
