2/8 Happening and Boston Training Week #6

-Every Sunday Brooke makes me something awesome in nursery (at church).  Highlight of the week.

-Yep, it starts young.

-2 of my good guy friends told me they were going to bring lunch over… Stouffer’s lasagna for the win.  It was a great time and I went back for more.

IMG 5316

-I prepared dessert of course.

IMG 5315 2

-Dessert round two was an ice cream cake.

-Pretty sure at least one of them got a good shot:)

-I finally watched the Parenthood finale and I cried a little too hard at the end.

Training from 2/2-2/8!!!!!

Monday:  9 miles @ 8:20 pace on treadmill.

Tuesday:  TEMPO RUN!  3 miles warm-up, 5 miles at 6:37 average (6:41, 6:41, 6:36, 6:32, 6:29), 2 miles cool-down.  10 miles total.  Got to do this one outside with some speedy friends to try and chase after during the tempo:)

Wednesday:  8 miles @ 8:27 pace on treadmill.

Thursday:  8 miles @ 6:51 average pace on treadmill. 10 (maybe 11) x 2 minutes @ 5:56 pace.

Friday:  OFF.

Saturday:  17 miles @ 7:56 pace.  I don’t know how our bodies keep naturally hitting that pace for our long runs the last few weeks but it must just be our happy place.  This long run felt better than all of the good parts of the previous long runs added together (it makes sense in my head, just smile and nod).  Paid more attention to drinking enough water and my fueling.  Told myself it was going to be a good run first thing when I woke up that morning.

IMG 5230

Sunday:  OFF.

52 miles total.

Not sure if this shirt reminded my brother of me because I run a lot or because I am crazy a lot.

I just watched the season finale of Parenthood last night too :( It was so darn good!
Have a great week!

Reply

My best run was a 9 miler with my best running buddy, negative splits with a last mile under 7:30. I’m not where I used to be, but after a year of mental burnout it’s so great to see the fitness starting to come back!

I love that black dress you’re wearing! So cute!

Reply

I’m in a great mood because I just finished my Monday morninf run! My best run was my 9 miler Sat because I’ve been sick for two weeks and it felt great to get the distance in (even if it was hard!!!)

32!!!

Reply

So funny you keep hitting the same pace, that used to happen to me too sometimes. Made a brownie pie with chocolate ganache this weekend, big yum :)

Reply

Brooke’s church outfit is SO gorgeous!

My best run last week was a 10 km PR on Saturday – woohooooo!

Reply

I had a good long run this weekend. Everything felt good and I hit my paces. Next birthday will have 31 candles! I’m a bit sleepy this morning since I went to bed too late, but in a good mood, regardless! That pic of Brooke is so cute! It does start young! And the Parenthood finale. I cried like a baby! Really was a perfect ending to the show though!

Reply

I ate a sleeve of thin mint cookies while doing my taxes if that counts as a dessert.

Reply

My best run last week was an easy four miles on the treadmill. It was just one of those days where everything clicked and felt wonderful!
My mood right now is nervous for my first week of clinic sessions at school.
24 candles!

Reply

29 candles on my next bday cake too! :)

You are really killing your training! Seeing the work you put in each week is really awesome! I can’t wait to start marathon training again in a few months!!!!

Reply

We made homemade cookiewiches! They were awesome. Big chocolate chip cookies, stuffed with vanilla bean ice cream and rolled in chocolate sprinkles.
There will be 40 candles in less than two months!
Great mood! Kids have a snowday so that means a serious baking day for me.

What kind of shorts are those you are wearing in your long run picture?

Reply

hahaha that picture of all the people taking the photos is CRAZYCAKES! it’s a little sad to me how kids are constantly bombarded by cameras these days… it’s like kids know when to “pose” a little too easily now. :/

best run: my 10 miler, because i was inside on the treadmill watching tv, which i don’t have at home :] good dessert: molasses ginger cookie nom nom nom; 27 candles on my next cake; feeling tired, but ready to take on the week! xo

Reply

I really appreciate that you have been sharing your training paces. Although I am a slower runner than you, it is interesting to see how your long run pace relates to your tempo run pace, etc. Thank you!

Best run this week was a speed work session where I alternated running easy miles with running fast miles. I’ve been taking it pretty easy this winter and it was nice to hit some faster paces. I think I’ll do the same run again this week.

Next birthday will be the big 3-0, but I still have 11 months left in my twenties!

Reply

I think we all have our natural cadence when it comes to running. Our body is comfortable there and can go forever. The challenge comes in going faster otherwise it wouldn’t be a challenge. Yesterday I made dark chocolate quinoa brownies. OMG they were amazing!

Reply

Zero candles! I don’t like conventional cake and I avoid sugar anyway–but I might make a healthified little muffin for myself. I’m turning 18 and I wonder if I should throw a party of some sort…

Reply

Omg Brooke waving to that little boy! The adorableness!!

Reply

Free froyo on Friday thanks to you sharing the info!

Reply

I SO admire your treadmill discipline! I usually can’t make it past 4 miles!

Reply

I had a few great treadmill runs last week but the two outdoor runs I was finally able to squeeze in between snow storms were probably my favorite! My next birthday cake will have 37 candles on it. That number sounds so weird to me since I feel like I am still a kid, at the most, maybe 22 lol.

Reply

My best run last week was out on the Arkansas trails! I really enjoyed the weather there and being in nature instead of the city for a change.
I had some delicious brownie bites over the weekend!
I am pretty exhausted right now after traveling for 12 hour yesterday and getting home after midnight…I need a full 8 hours of sleep to function properly:)

Reply

Sunday was my best run. I FINALLY got to run outside. The weather was a perfect 55 degrees and I felt great so I was able to increase my pace faster than planned.

We celebrated my nephew’s first birthday over the weekend and had 3 kinds of cake. All of them were fantastic. My next birthday cake will have 28 candles…when do you enter your “late 20s?” Am I already there??

Reply

I had some awesome undercooked brownies this weekend with my boyfriend and his daughters. It was just as much fun making them as it was baking them.
I should be in a sad mood right now. I’m not running because of a knee thing but after a snowmobile accident last weekend I think I really messed up my shoulder. Going to a doc tonight. :( but I am in such a good place relationship wise it’s helping me while I can’t “burn off the crazy”
And I will have 42 candles on my next cake.

Reply

Ahhh I haven’t brought myself to watch the Parenthood finale yet! I need to soon though, before someone accidentally spoils it for me.

Reply

Made small batch chocolate chips cookies last night. So easy and so delicious when you just want a few fresh baked cookies.

Reply

sometimes frozen lasagna is just really good.

Reply

Girl, 29 has been the best year ever so you have great things coming:)) My next bday is #30 woohoo!! Great runs this week! Love the shorts.. So cute (and awesome to wear shorts in February!!!) Happy Monday!!

Reply

My best run last week was a half marathon ran on Saturday!

I’m pretty sure my next birthday cake will start a fire…that is all I have to say about that.

Reply

What are those floral shorts? I love them!

Awe Brooke is going to be such a heart breaker. She is adorable!

Glad Boston training is going so well for you. Your workouts always exhaust me just reading them.

Reply

My best run last week was an 8 mile fartlek run. Felt good to get in some speed!
I made us a chocolate greek yogurt cake for the weekend. Soooo good!
26 candles on my next bday cake.
My mood is restless—I am so ready for spring and getting to be outside but the forecast says more snow!

Reply

My best run was my 12 miler yesterday, it was pain-free and I was smiling pretty much the whole time.

I didn’t have any great desserts this weekend, but I did have the most amazing beef wellington for dinner on Saturday, I’ve been singing its praises ever since!

My next bday cake will have 31 candles on it. How did that happen?

I’m a little down right now, the boyfriend just left for a work trip this morning. It’s only for a week this time (last time was 3 months), but it’s always hard to tell him goodbye.

Reply

Best run was my speed intervals! I rarely said that, but it felt good to move a little quicker than normal!
I had chocolate almondmilk for desserts this week. It’s one of my favorites :)
25 candles on my next bday cake, but it’s almost a year away :)
I am excited/nervous for life changes right now.

Reply

hahaha so funny with all those cameras :) my best run last week was running back from the gym with my bf and it was FREEEEEZING cold so we ran way faster than normal… painful but I felt so speedy. ha!

Reply

My best run was yesterday, I ran outside in shorts and a t-shirt!! Last week at this time we had a massive blizzard, gotta love the Midwest! I’ve been kind of bummed lately with constant running injuries, but starting my day with a killer sweaty spin class put me in a great mood!

Reply

I just celebrated my 30th so next January I will have 31 candles – eep! And that photo of Brooke waving at the boy is too cute :)

Reply

Ah! I really want to start watching Parenthood, it sounds awesome!

Reply

Congrats on having an awesome week of running! I’m super jealous that you can run in shorts, it’s sooooo freezing here in NYC and it’s only going to get worse this week apparently. I don’t have a treadmill alternative so I’m gonna conquer the cold like a champ (I hope).

My next birthday will have 27 candles on it :( how?!?

Reply

I think my 9 miler on Saturday was my best- it was short, fast, and so warm out.

No desserts this weekend- I’m swearing off sweets until after my long run next weekend…not easy!

Reply

I want a cupcake with buttercream frosting and a little frosting surprise in the center. I want it gluten free and I want it quality gluten free. Not…crummy gluten free.
No chocolate.
I don’t ask much.

Reply

Brooke looks so pretty! Her long wavy hair and that adorable dress! So cute.

Reply

I love those floral shorts, and I also love your dress in the first photo! Where is that from?

25 candles in my next birthday cake! And last dessert I had was a yummy nothing bundt cake!

Reply

My best run last week was 4.5 miles in the Mayan jungle (Tulum). Bliss.
Best dessert was a vegan banana cake w/ chocolate frosting that the cook at our resort made for me (my B-day is the 15th). I will be blowing out 43 candles this coming Sunday and my mood right now is grateful for all my blessings!

Reply

I ran outside three days last week due to this awesome weather! Loved every single minute of it.
I’ll have 33 candles- I’m old!
My mood- anxious!
I wasn’t this morning of work to get over so I can get to the gym on my lunch break!

Reply

Best run last week was 7 miles on the trail. 3.5 miles straight up and I missed my PR by 5 seconds! It was still awesome because I had the flu a couple weeks ago and finally am feeling strong again.

I am sticking to one dessert a week these days – had Baskin Robbins ice cream on Friday night – Love Potion #31 + York Peppermint Pattie. So good!

51 candles in April!

Reply

I ran my fastest 400 in a workout on the track last week – woohoo!!

I made Nanaimo bars this weekend…sooooo good.

Mood is…energized! :)

Reply

I ran a really tough 8K on Saturday. The course was extremely hilly and slick in parts. I PR’D!!!! After, I rewarded myself with a piece of pizza.
My cake will have 41 candles in May, but I still get carded fior cocktails, so I won’t complain. :)

Reply

HUGE CONGRATS Darcy! That is great:) Pizza is the best reward! Running keeps us young!

Reply

Those Ghiradelli chocolate chips are the ONLY chocolate chips IMO!

Reply

The long run sounded great. All the hard training definitely coming together.

The BAA marathon is already within striking range. Just arrive refreshed and go for it!

Reply

Thank you so so much Patrick!

Reply

I’ll be 29 in July. Already? How? I have no idea.
My mood is panicked. How can I be trapped inside right now at a desk when its the last of the really great weather!? That and I need to finish Parenthood before I read any spoilers!! I’m only on Season 4, but watching it at a seriously unhealthy pace.

Reply

How is it that everyone gets to eat all these amazing desserts? I must need to get out more. All I managed was to score myself a fistful of chocolate chips while cruising through the kitchen.

38.

Feeling like I need dessert, now.

Reply

Just finished school, so I’m pretty happy right now and I’m about to go out on my first run after being sick for 3 weeks!! 18 candles on my cake (in four days!!!) this year :)
I’ve not been running for very long so my best run was the first time I ran 4 miles without stopping, I was super happy :) Btw Brooke’s dress is SO cute!!

Reply

AHHHH Happy bday in 4 days! So happy you were finally able to get out and that you are feeling better!

Reply

Thank you, you too!!! (Your bday is on Friday too, I think:) It was a great run, learning to take it easy has been the hardest part though!!

Reply

I absolutely love the shorts you wore during your long run! So cute!

Reply

I love them too! Dying to know where she got them….Janae?? :)

Reply

Thank you so so much girls! They are from lululemon and I got them on sale but just looked for them again and they are gone:( I am sorry!

Reply

I was supposed to run 18 miles on Saturday but only made it 10 I was ill prepared and the wind killed me, I need to work on my mental toughness. Those ten miles were really nice though I actually got to wear shorts!

Reply

I love your dress in that top photo! Where is it from?

And dessert last weekend was GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!!! :)

Reply

Thank you so much Amy! It was from H&M 2 years ago! Okay, now I am craving Girl Scout Cookies!

Reply

28 candles in July. I need that ‘I run to burn off the crazy’–I am crazy. Not really. Just odd.

I also loved your dress in the first photo and would love to know where it is from.

The last dessert I had was… 3 french macarons. Yumz!

Reply

Best dessert? Ice cream and cookies. Good luck with your runs this week! :)

Reply

i am truly salivating over the dough in the bowl-YUM. i am doing the whole30 right now so no official desserts but i did discover a ‘faux almond joy’ where you take an almond and some coconut shredding and shove it in a date. my life is certainly getting wild as of late…

Reply

Are you by any chance LDS? I’ve always had my suspicions but after the nursery comment…I had to ask!!

Reply

My best run was a pain-free 17 miler on Sunday in the snow. Finally feeling on track for Boston!

Reply

running in Garmisch-Partekirchen Germany with my little man. It was great because there were sidewalks for Pedestrians (in Bulgaria they are for parking) and despite the 12 inches of snow the day before they were clear. Sidewalk plows people! Amazing!

Tiramisu. So good we had it twice.

Probably no candles because we will have cupcakes and 42 candles won’t fit…

Content to be nursing my 25 month old while checking Twitter and contemplating potty training….Is Brooke potty trained?

Reply

I ran 7 miles on Saturday- my longest run since my marathon and it was amazing! Perfect weather in the 60s with no humidity and lots of sunshine. I ended up with tan lines :)

Reply

hangry mood lol

Reply

We made hot fudge sundaes with mint chocolate chip ice cream this weekend.
They were delightful!
My next birthday cake will have 41 candles. Or a 4 and a 1 ’cause it’s getting to the point of a fire hazard ;-)
I’m in a really good mood today- even though we’re getting another foot or so of snow! My work called a snow day for today last night so there was no stressful figuring out how to make it work. Then I got to sleep in. Yay!

Reply

I’ve got to track down that shirt for my sister… AWESOME!

Happy your long run felt good! Have a great week! ;)

Reply

I never really buy frozen lasagna but that looks AWESOME!

Reply

I made chocolate chip mug cookies in the microwave and they were the highlight of my weekend. It was amazing!

Reply

Lately I’ve been craving chocolate shakes like crazy, so last night the BF and I went to this burger place and split a Smores shake. It was good but still doesn’t beat plain chocolate. My next birthday cake will have 27 candles but I will keep pretending I am 21 ;)

Reply

Brooke’s dress is so cute! I’ll have 33 candles on my next birthday cake. I should have stopped counting at 29.

Reply

Brownies from a box were my favorite dessert over the weekend. I can’t bake brownies as good as Betty Crocker does.

28 candles on my next birthday cake!

Brooke’s little dress is so adorable. Love your dress for church, too!

Reply

Y’all both looked DARLING for church! Where are Brooke’s shoes from? My daughter is one month younger than Brooke…I think we need to buy those! Cute!!

Congrats on your long run!

Reply

I still haven’t watched the series finale of Parenthood yet. I have 5 episodes to watch and I am totally in denial :( This weekend was my daughter’s first birthday party, so I had WAY too many desserts, but they were sure good!!

Reply

I just started watching Parenthood, I like it when I can stream something most of the way through.

29 candles for me too!

Reply

I ate two Nanaimo bars this weekend and they were so good!

I will be 33 on my next birthday!

Reply

When you run on the treadmill, do you set your treadmill at 0% or 1%?

Reply

Where did you get your dress? So cute!

Reply

My best run last week was my tempo run – I felt strong!
Desserts: I made my husband a birthday cake that kind of rocked – if I do say so myself! Chocolate cake with raspberry jam, raspberries, chocolate icing and whipped cream. With lots of leftovers!
34 candles on my next birthday cake!

Reply

27 candles for me in October!

I had a great 6 mile run last Sunday, the weather was slightly cloudy but felt great. That was the only run outside for me last week, every other one was on the treadmill.

Reply

I loved how Parenthood ended, how everything seemed to work out for everyone.

There will be 40 candles on my cake this year!

We have a birthday in our house this week. My oldest son turns 15. Seriously, where does the time go?

Reply

I went out for 6 miles yesterday morning to enjoy the nice weather! That’s long for me- and it definitely made tonight’s workout tougher!

Love the dress you’re wearing in the first picture

Reply

I had donuts at Lucky’s donuts this weekend:). The best run of this past week was a Tuesday tempo run (without garmin). The gang (guys and girls) upped the pace, so I had to pick up the pace as well. It was a gorgeous night for a run, running by the water and letting my body dictate my pace.

Reply

I love your dress for church in the first picture!! Where is it from? Also you just always look gorgeous :)

Reply

My best run was my 11 mile long run on Saturday in spite of the headwind and a scary van. I paced at 10:30/mile which is great for me over a long distance. I’m thinking I can cut 10 minutes of my first 1/2 marathon time.

Candles: 41 in June

Today I was pretty cranky, but I have mellowed out this evening. :-)

Reply

Umm, why was your post on 2.8.15 not about my birthday???? #offended

Reply

I also love your dress and tried to find it. This one is pretty close! http://www.shopstyle.com/action/loadRetailerProductPage?id=470905225&pid=uid4096-26712436-94
