I really like running in new places.

8.6 miles of running and a stop to pose with a big tree trunk to start off my Thanksgiving.   It was about 46 degrees for our run and in my dictionary that is defined as perfect running weather.

We ran by all sorts of vineyards.

And for the first time ever I ran next to llamas.  It was pretty exciting especially after reading the book, ‘Llama Llama Red Pajama’ with Brooke a million times.

IMG 1427

Came back and downed a green smoothie before playing football for a bit.  FYI I am not even remotely good at football.  I am all about kickball though.

Enter in a picture of the plate of Thanksgiving goodness.  The cornbread stuffing was incredible.  And so were the homemade rolls (not in the picture).

After a nap (I have to take a nap after eating turkey) we brought out the homemade pies.  There were nuts and caramel mixed into the crust of this banana cream pie.

We then played Telestration (my new favorite game) and watched This Means War.

The best thing I ate honestly was my turkey. I had never cooked a turkey by myself but ended up cooking it and not ending up on Philly nightly news! It was shocking! Lol.

I like running in new places because I think the time goes by much quicker. It sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving Janae!

Best food: Sweet potatoe casserole!
New running place: Chicago. I loved exploring on foot!
We see beavers, Bobcats, and lots of deer!
That banana cream pie looks awesome!!

Sounds like the perfect day! 46 degrees is perfect running weather and I love the scenery! I love exploring new places…I haven’t been anywhere different in awhile but whenever I go on vacation I try to search for new areas to run. Your food plate looks amazing! I’ve never heard of Telestration but there is a game called “Mexican train” that I play with my in-laws and we are all addicted!

My moms stuffing is pretty fantastic. I have to say I enjoyed that a lot. But really everything I had was good.

I love playing wahoo, it’s a game that my mom grew up playing and we play it at every holiday, it is so much fun.

I think a post turkey nap is required on thanksgiving!

Best food – um….I had some pretty awesome spaghetti and meatballs for lunch! (I’m Canadian, Thanksgiving is all done and dusted up here)
Favourite Board Game – Settlers of Catan (or Catan Junior, if my 7 year old is involved)
Random animals – I once thought I saw a bear while I was running out in the Rockies, but after standing totally still for roughly half an hour (I do not have the best eyesight), I got up the courage (stupidity?) to go closer, and it was a rock. I still feel dumb about that.
p.s. a most excellent children’s book –> “I Want My Hat Back” by Jon Klassen.

My nickname is SallyLlama! =) I’m obsessed with Llamas.
My mom’s stuffing has to get the award for best thing I ate.
I am a fan of the traditional board games like Monopoly.
The last “new to me” place I went running was a month ago when I was visiting Cape Cod.
I see wild turkeys and deer when I run here on Staten Island. Luckily I’ve never seen bears. That would freak me out.

Last new place I went running is Canmore, AB and it was breathtaking!

I didn’t have turkey yesterday but did have apple pie!

Favourite board game… Taboo!

I’ve lived in the same neighborhood for 7 years now and I just discovered a new place in the neighborhood with a water foundation and ducks swimming in a pond!

The mash potatoes were my favorite yesterday.

5 second rule is a new fun game.

Do you put the orange in your smoothie, rind and all?

Mine, too!

That banana cream pie looks amazing!

My MIL’s pumpkin roll was the absolute best thing I ate yesterday. Followed closely by her cornbread casserole.

The last “new to me” place I ran was San Francisco. It was beautiful, but the hills were tough for this Indiana girl!

Best thing I ate was probably the combination of sweet potato casserole, stuffing and mashed potatoes (made with mashed turnips somehow in the mix) all in one bite. So delish….I saw awful/scary birds when I ran down in Florida back in September. I did like how they looked or the sounds they were making at me!

I almost stepped directly onto a rattlesnake this summer. Eek!

Canadian here, so no thanksgiving for me!

Who did you end up spending the day with? Your family out in CA?

I went for a 7 mile walk and it was mid 40s in Phoenix. I agree with you yhats perfect running or walking weather. Yesterday I made my first turkey and it turned out delicious but carving was another story. When I flipped it over and saw the feet I freaked. Screamed the entire time. Good hung no small kids were around!

I actually haven’t had my traditional Thanksgiving meal yet. Yesterday at work we decided to go Mexican and hado Posole and flan! Haha.

I love 46 degrees for running & exploring new places. I love running when we travel to Mexico. I stay within the resort but it’s new scenery and sea level! Besides the amazing turkey my husband made, my favorite thing was the rolls–buttery goodness.

Looks like you had a fabulous day! Awesome :)

No turkey dinner for me – had that back in October! :)

Ummm…do you put the peel in your smoothie too??

I recently ran the RNR Las Vegas – and I gotta tell you, being able to run down the strip, at night, with no cars was SOOOO cool!!!

Looks like a fun thanksgiving! Glad it was a great day for you!

Love green bean casserole and the desserts!!!

My mom made some kind of shortbread topped with caramel and chocolate. I felt like I was eating little pieces of heaven.

I love Bezzerwizzer. I usually lose at it. But I still love it. Does that mean I’m a good sport or a glutton for punishment? However, I am now making it my newest mission to play Telestrations. Hopefully Wal-Mart carries it.

I haven’t been on a new to me place in a long time! Gosh, I need to liven things up!

I sometimes see bison when I go out running. Cache Valley = the wilderness.

Reply

Candied sweet potatoes for the win. Mmmmm butter and brown sugar.

My last new to me run was in AZ. So new I got lost. Oops.

I love playing telestrations. Good choice. How much did your competitive side come out? ;)

Reply

Best thing I ate was carrot cake. YUMMMM

Those Llamas crack me up…

Honestly I live in the country so I see a lot of animals. Once on a trail run (I tell everyone this story all the time lol) I saw a cow just grazing on the side of this trail. Like a couple feet from me. And I was running with my head down because the trail was a bit rocky there (and in the middle of the woods) so I was shocked to look up and see a COW. She was wearing a bell around her neck so I’m sure she escaped from a local farm. I took pics for proof, but everyone still thinks I’m crazy.

Board games…..mmmmm…I’d say Taboo & Chess (I’m a nerd).

Running in a different area is awesome! The best part is just being at my parents house with the whole gang. Great homey and holiday feeling! Glad you had a nice holiday and great run :)

Reply

Best thing I ate yesterday was stuffing! This morning it’s going to be stuffing with eggs :)

I’m weird, I don’t like board games.

The last new to me place I went running was probably last year when I moved here to NY. I really need to mix it up.

Animals on the run – deer, chipmunks, sheep, horses…

Hi there! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. The best thing I ate yesterday was some home-made pecan pie. And we played charades. Sometimes you don’t even need a board to play a game. :)

Reply

We are having our traditional turkey thanksgiving today, but yesterday it was the ham

Turkey is always my fav part of Thanksgiving!

I love running in Nashville suburbs……….the hills kick my butt!

Favorite board game: I really like clue!

I see animals all the time when I run! (Geese, they hiss and chase me, red tailed hawks, deer, turkey, rabbits, groundhogs, horses, alpaca, lots of stuff!)

Reply

The best things I ate were vegetarian stuffing balls and homemade black and white cookies :) That banana cream pie looks like heaven! My favorite board games are Apples to Apples and this old game called Pit. One time a fox ran across the street in front of me while running! Pretty random for my neighborhood haha.

Reply

Butternut squash bake! It was so wonderful and we all pretended it was a vegetable even though it was covered in brown sugar, butter and pecans!

I saw cattle on the trail this week – I’ve also seen deer, coyotes, bobcats and bear tracks (thankfully, no bear.)

Reply

The best thing I ate yesterday … um, everything? Pumpkin pie, homemade biscuits, and amazing stuffing were my top 3 :)
I love Parcheesi and monopoly.
The new to me running place is a trail that I’ve run on only once, but it was so hilly (my favorite :) ) and I saw a groundhog. The most interesting animal I’ve seen is probably roadkill ;)

I played Telestrations yesterday too! It was my first time playing and it was hilarious. I’m so glad you had a good Thanksgiving. I started off Thursday with a run too and I’m convinced it was the absolute best way to start Turkey Day.

Reply

I miss warm weather!!!!

All the Thanksgiving photos of food made me so hungry yesterday!!

Reply

That pie looks incredible. Banana cream is my all-time favorite. Everything we had yesterday was really good, but if I had to pick I’d say the stuffing. Today we’ve been playing CandyLand backwards…really steps up the excitement factor. Not. I haven’t seen anything super unusual while out running…a coyote, bunnies, lots of turkeys, cows…but I saw a manatee once when I was rowing. It was super weird to me, but given that it happened in Tampa, Florida, I’ve been told it was totally commonplace.

Reply

I love Telestrations! So funny. I think I’ve only ever seen a raccoon while running, and I was strangely terrified of it. Best thing yesterday was stuffing! I make a sausage and sourdough stuffing that has become one of my new favorite foods.

I’m so glad you enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving even though your plans changed at the last minute!

The best thing I ate was my aunt’s sweet potato casserole!!! So yummy. But pretty much anything with sweet potatoes, butter or brown sugar is so combined….BEST thing ever!
The strangest animal I’ve seen while running was a giant raccoon! He ran right out in front of me middle of the afternoon! I was kind of scary

I went running in Sedona last weekend. I work there, but never run there! So I explored a new trail and it was a blast! Love exploring new places by foot!

What perfect running weather and a gorgeous place to run! Yesterday it was in the upper 50s for my run and I was incredibly THANKFUL for such perfect running weather on Thanksgiving! :)

Last new to me running place was London back in September! It was amazing and now I really want to do the London Marathon!

Reply

Food was a hit with me yesterday but I have to say the salads are my favorite! I loved them!! I haven’t run in a new place for quite awhile…I really need to do that soon!!!!

Reply

I’ve had the opportunity to run all sorts of amazing places since I moved to California. I wish I had more time to explore out here before leaving!

Reply

best thing I ate: seasoned broccoli (it was really really good…have to get that seasoning mix for myself)
favorite board game: monopoly! all time favorite
last new place: Ft Lauderdale (does it count as a new place if it’s just a different part of town?)
animals: I like to avoid animals (of all kinds) when running

Reply

I see moose all the time when I’m running, but that’s not that weird in Alaska. Best part of Thanksgiving was the turkey. My husband tried a new method of cooking and it was a-MAZ-ing!!!!!

Reply

Random animals = all the time. My favorite was probably a baby goat in someone’s driveway!

Reply

My best thing on Thanksgiving was the turkey!

I’m a casserole freak…my mom makes a delicious bean and corn casserole that I love! I need to discover some new running routes around me. Kinda getting bored with the ones I have been using. And as far as animals…I saw an alligator once! I turned and went the other way lol it was a big one! They joys of living in Florida… llamas would be cool though, I think they’re cute in a weird way!

Reply

You look so tiny next to that tree! LOVE running through vineyards.

We have a tradition in my family where we use some of the left over turkey and make “famous” enchiladas. SO yummy!!!

Last “new to me” place I went running was Boise. And for board games, I am all about Sequence! (if you have not played this game, you must)

Reply

I recently saw a wild chuahuah. So Scary. Ha ha! New to me running place is??? I haven’t ran anywhere new…guess I know what’s on my ‘to do’ list this week. :) My favorite food this weekend was the potatoes and stuffing. Oh and Pumpkin pie from Coco’s.

Reply

I’ve seen turkeys while trail running. We all startled each other and they ran away, hahaha.

Reply

I’ve only done a couple of trail runs… they are beautiful especially in Utah, I just don’t like running them alone, so I’ve only really done trail run races. I am trying to find a local group to run with. My favorite thing I ate on Thanksgiving was buttermilk pie (magelby’s recipe!) and stuffing, I never liked stuffing until I had my MIL stuffing weirdly haha.
