The Wednesday Randoms!

-Brooke decided that it was a good idea to wake up way earlier than normal this morning.  Instead of starting the day and being productive I took her to my bed to attempt to get a little bit more sleep.  Didn’t happen obviously.

IMG 8483

-Loved getting this AWESOME advice from a really good friend.

IMG 8505

-And THIS song is my latest ‘play on repeat all day’ song.

IMG 8485

-The look that Brooke gave me when I told her she needed to get out of the massage chair because we needed to leave.  We ended up staying another 10 minutes.

IMG 8499

-The muscle groups that we worked on fixing/activating/making stronger when I went in to Dr. Bennett (801-513-1078) this morning…  I am feeling stronger than ever.  I am seeing huge improvements with the different muscular endurance tests that we do each week and it has only been 2 months since I started.  Once I get everything working properly then I can start trying to get some speed back:)

NewImage

-Jess (my trail running/froyo/bachelor watching partner) had surgery yesterday on her meniscus and they also lengthened her outside tendon while they were in there.  It breaks my heart.  I’ll be over every day to give her foot massages and feed her chocolate.  Pray for a speedy recovery for her!

-I wanted to get in a strength workout today and the only time/place that I could get it in was a little session at the park while Brooke was playing:

*10 tricep dips

*10 walking lunges (10 on each side)

*10 Hot Seats  (10 on each side)

*10 bench pushups

*10 bench step-ups (10 on each side)

Repeat 5 times!

-Brooke did some killer ab exercises:

IMG 8515

-And the only running I did today was chasing some birds (or chirp chirps= what Brooke calls birds) around the park.

IMG 8520

-And each day I get a little bit lazier with what I make for lunch.  This chicken is actually pretty good when heated up, topped with bbq sauce and wrapped in a ginromous tortilla.

Speedy recovery to Jess!!!
Ingrid michaleson is from my hometown. Love her music. Especially that new single.
Random for Wednesday is I am experiencing vertigo for the first time in my life. I feel like I am on a cruise ship at sea during a hurricane. It’s bizarre.

Reply

Random Wednesday, I was a tiny bit upset about gaining weight (I’m almost 30.weeks pregnant) and making and eating fudge cookies and homemade granola completely made those feelings go away somehow.
I can’t wait to watch you training for Boston. I’ll get there one day!

Reply

Brooke’s face is the funniest thing that I have seen all day. She did NOT want to get out of that massage chair. Totally adorable!! The runner post about stopping running until an injury heals made me laugh too.

Random Wednesday – Last night while watching NCIS New Orleans discovered that Scott Bakula is not in fact Balki from Perfect Strangers which I’m sure you have no idea about because you weren’t born when that show was on & today I was confused because I thought Will Ferrell was going to be on the new season of True Detective when in fact it’s Colin Ferrell…….

Reply

I am laughing so hard right now. Love that.

Also…I have been wondering when NCIS New Orleans would be on and now I’m sad I missed it.

Reply

My randomness for the day: just found out I got into BOSTON for the first time ever! Decided to congratulate myself with a new fall lipstick from Sephora :)

Reply

I like the cross-training that Brook does…I think we should all follow her lead :)
And that quote, completely nailed it!

Reply

That e-card is hilarious! Reminds me of myself during my entire injury. It’s not hurting enough to stop, really people! I hope your friend recovers quickly. I feel her pain. :(

Reply

That pic of Brooke is hilarious! Random: I have a huge bag of coins. I recently found a convenience store that has a pay-on-you-own machine that accepts coins, and paid for a purchase today in coins. A lot of them. Afterward, I felt like one of those extreme couponers based on the expressions of some of the workers even though I didn’t save any cash.

Reply

I love that Brooke calls birds “chirp chirps” – that is so stinking cute!

Reply

Wednesday Random: I have the same shorts you wore to the park today. And just about every other color/pattern they make…don’t even get me started on my collection of lulu running skirts, please!

Reply

First of all I LOVE your shirts and your jacket! Today my daughter took a 2.5 hour nap (which never happens!) and I enjoyed doing absolutely nothing during that time :) Just what I needed ;)

Reply

Is chicken breast in a can good? I buy fresh chicken breast and only canned tuna.

WHATS REALLY GOOD WAS MY SLEEP ON SUBDAY! I SLEPT FOR LIKE 11 HOURS HOLEY MOLEY!

Reply

So I was going to comment on Janae using chicken breast in a can but now I have a reason to. If the Kirkland stuff is better, I’ll be surprised. I’ve never used chicken in a can before until a few weeks ago and oh man. I may never recover. I bought a really nice brand and it was not…good.

That’s really all I have to say about that. Except I might need therapy from the chicken incident of 2014.

Reply

Random: today is my husbands bday and we tried to take our kids out to do something fun. They were whiny and crying all day so it turned out miserable! We’re going out tonight without the kids :)

Reply

Excited that Nashville comes back on tv tonight!
Randomly had a 10k pr in the middle of my 10 miler this morning!

Reply

Random: my sons teacher conference went very well. Times like this when my heart feels like it’s swelling:) got up early and did treadmill slowing getting strong again after being sick.

Reply

Swapped a productive day in the gym for a productive afternoon at work. Now splurging on my favorite hole-in-the-wall Chinese.

Reply

Love what your friend had to say about running! I think a lot of runners need to be reminded of that :)

Reply

i love that brooke calls birds “chirp chirps.” she’s so precious!

ahh i hope your running buddy heals quickly. sending prayers her way :)

random: i’m really looking forward to making mahi mahi for dinner with my dad tonight.

Reply

Had to work today…currently at work and I am having a fantastic day. Great coworkers, great conversations. Makes 12.5 hours go by super fast.

I need to remember that for my next race —> I run because I love it!

Great strength workout. I love your shorts!!!

Reply

Haha that e-card! Really though!

Love Brooke’s expression – her face shows all of her personality!

Reply

Praying for a speedy recovery for Jess!
My experience is that once my kids were awake…forget about sleep!
I want a massage chair too–maybe in my car??

Reply

I need those shorts you have on at the playground. Where can I find them? Please dish.

Oh, and sending positive healing thoughts to Jess. I think you should take her TJ’s chocolate Covered Smores. They seriously speed recovery or so I’ve heard…

Reply

Today was an amazing day because it was hat day at school. The one (or two) times a year I don’t have to worry about how my hair looks!
I hope Jess’ leg gets better soon.

Reply

ummm park work out without me?? I feel like I was stood up! ;)

Brooke is the freakin cutest. I would never be able to say no to her with that sad face. P.S. She looks soooo much like you and your niece in that picture.

Random Wednesday – I just finished watching last nights The Mindy Project while feeding Felicity and Danny’s mom’s friend (got that?) was on a few episodes of Roswell. Recognized that right away. Is it really sad or awesome that I still remember so much useless information about that show? lol.

Reply

Wed random…Excited that the Blacklist is back on!!!!

Reply

Random things – I have 4 days left at a job I kind of hate – so excited to be done!

Just had a cereal suicide and we call it that because of your blog.

Reply

I have been listening to Spits on Girls by Amy Shark on repeat…check it out!!

Reply

Wednesday Random: went climbing for the first time in about a year today. I lasted about 15 minutes because I’m so dreadfully weak. 3 easy easy easy routes and my muscles were toast. Nowhere to go but up :)

Yikes!! My eyes cannot un-see the music video for ‘Girls Chase Boys’!

Reply

Love your friend’s advice! I’ll have to remember that for my marathon.

Reply

oh my gosh- I used to get that chicken! Totally forgot about that stuff. It makes some awesome chicken salad!

Reply

You should try the chicken/carrot/cheese soup recipe that comes with the costco canned chicken, it is SO GOOD!

Reply

Sending many prayers for your friend! I hope her pain is manageable and her recovery is quick! I’ve never had knee surgery, but I have had shoulder surgery…I have found that athletes (especially runners) heal fast and are very motivated to get moving as quickly as possible, which if done right, can really speed up recovery. Best of luck and you’re a great friend for offering foot massages, chocolate eating, and tv watching with her :)

Reply

Sending good recovery vibes to your friend!!

I love these photos of you and Brooke at the park! And her little face in the massage chair! So cute :)

Wednesday random (on a Thursday!): Tuesday was the first day of fall, and even though it was beautifully chilly out, I was craving iced coffee instead of hot–who am I?

Have a lovely day!

Reply

Where do you get Brooke’s adorable head bands? If my daughter ever manages to leave an accessory in her hair, I’d like it to be that little wrap. :)

Reply

Awesome advice from your friend! I will definitely have to remember that. While I think I am super prepared for my first marathon, I have a feeling somewhere after mile 20 I am going to need some serious reminders about WHY I am running 26.2 miles!

Random: I am on vacation in Paris right now and at The Louvre today I saw the statue of the guy who collapsed after running the first “marathon” and got a little too excited :) Funny enough when I saw the statue I thought, “that guy looks tired, I bet he was a runner” and then I saw the sign about who it was! :) The person who sculpted him did a perfect job on his facial expression!

Reply

Love your shorts! Black and white combo is awesome!
