She is missing me like crazy.

There is one place that you absolutely have to eat at for breakfast if you are ever in Seattle, PORTAGE BAY.

They walk you right by this beauty as they take you to your seat.

IMG 3625

If you order anything like french toast or pancakes you just take your plate on over to the above paradise and top them with the best berries you will ever eat.  Next time I am in Seattle I will be going here daily.

IMG 3623

I have to show you everyone at the table so that you can also see what they ordered too.

Jenn is gluten free and they had a ton of amazing options for her too!  I don’t think I put enough berries on mine.

IMG 3634

Cori and Jess!

IMG 3633

Anne and Meghann!

IMG 3630

Danielle and Lauren!  PS Jess and Lauren had KILLER personal records at RNR Seattle yesterday!  Race recap will be up tomorrow.

IMG 3631

After brunch we jumped in a van and went to go to Brooks PR Invitational.  This invitational has the fastest of the fastest high school kids in the nation competing.

IMG 3639

It was absolutely amazing to watch these teens race.  They are so strong and dedicated to their running.  These are our future Olympians:)

IMG 3655

2 miles in 9:53.  This race was pretty intense during the last lap but her final kick was incredible.

IMG 3658

I am now pretty inspired to do track work again once I am back to training.

IMG 0777

The event had a pretty sweet tent with all sorts of things like these sweet gold glasses (that I am planning on wearing everyday now).

IMG 3644

Another thing to do… the Seattle Great Wheel.  We lucked out with perfect weather this weekend.  The Race Gods were definitely on our side.

IMG 0781

Hangin out at the top.

IMG 0783

And for our final dinner.

IMG 3669

Yes and yes.

IMG 3672

Clearly, Brooke is missing me like crazy while I am away;)  Quite the party animal.

IMG 3486

3:50 a.m. wake-up call this morning.  This is going to feel really nice.

I would just take that entire bowl of whipped cream with me back to my table and chow the heck down!

That restaurant looks AMAZING!

Today, I’m going to the golf course with my fiancé, watching him participate in a long drive competition, and then driving home. :)

That breakfast with berries looks so yummy!!
I’ve never been to Seattle.

Today if will probably paint my 7 yr old’s room, mow the yard, and clean house. Exciting I know! :)

I love Seattle! I need to visit there again. We went in October for my birthday a few years ago. We stayed right downtown and spent our time exploring on foot. We even caught a Seattle Seahawks game while we were there.

Today is church and then cheering on my nephew’s and my daughter’s boyfriend’s baseball teams in a tournament.

Reply

All of the pictures from this weekend look so gorgeous! My plans for today are running and soccer with a little bit of pool action :)

Reply

Favourite thing to do in Seattle: go to a Mariners or Seahawks game! You haven’t experienced fan noise until you’ve seen the Seahawks play in Seattle!

Reply

Never been to Seattle but I’d love to go. Three things today: laundry, groceries and possibly swimming at my parents.

Reply

I have been to Seattle once, only for a day, and loved it! We did a harbor too and it was awesome! I also loved the market!

Today I am eating waffles (check!), working (boo), and watching the USA World Cup game!!!

Reply

Those berries are making me drool. I think fresh berries might be my favorite food. My husband and I honeymooned in Vancouver, and we just gorged on fresh produce every day. The berries were incredibly large, sweet, and fresh.

Reply

Wow, I need that breakfast! I’ve never been to Seattle but I’ve always wanted to. Plus my favorite author lives there.
Haha Brooke is having a ball!!

Reply

I went to Seattle for the first time a month ago! Looks like I need to head right back though and hit up that breakfast bar mmmm :)

Looks like you girls had a great time! Can’t wait for the recap, per usual.

Reply

Can’t wait for the recap!! Looks like a great time!:)

Reply

I’ve been to Seattle once before but it was for a cross country meet so we didn’t get to do much sightseeing. I would live to go back to do all the touristy things!

Reply

I went to seattle and it rained the entire time!
Today I am going to church, then going running, and cleaning my house! I was gone all day yesterday at Ardura and it is a wreck!

Reply

18 mile run, rest, eat!

Portage Bay is amazing! Makes me want giant bowls of fresh berries everyday! Yum!

Reply

I travel up to Seattle about three times a year. My husband’s family lives there and we love visiting when we can. I like racing around that area because it is often not too hot and the scenery is beautiful. I always get my shopping done too, because most stores honor tax exempt for Oregonians. :)

Today I have a 10 mile run on my schedule, the US soccer match, and potentially buying my husband a mountain bike.

Reply

Run, Beach, Paddleboard, a perfect day :)

Reply

I’ve never been to Seattle, or the Northwest in general. But the hubs and I would like to go backpacking sometime then visit Seattle and Portland. :)
Brooke is getting so big! It’s hard to believe!
I ran (5 cool miles with a bun in the oven), I need to hang stuff on our walls since we’ve officially been at our new place a week, and the hubs and I have a dinner to attend this evening to meet the other anesthesia interns he’ll spend the next 4 years with!
Safe travels!!

Reply

A weekend with you and Cori = dream come true! Maybe we just need to go visit her in North Carolina ;) Happy traveling!

Reply

Yes, I love Seattle! My favorite thing to do there is just walk around the city center and enjoy the ambiance.

Today we’re going to church, taking a walk, and getting ready for my daughter’s birthday tomorrow (she’ll be three!).

I hope you fit a nap in today. You are going to be up early!

Reply

It looks like such a fun city and such a great group of girls!
2 miles in 9:53 is incredible!!

Reply

I had a layover in Seattle on my way back from Blend! Buuuut I never made it out of the airport lol. I went one time before that when I was younger, but that was before I was in love with all things coffee — I -need- to go back and visit Pike Place!

Reply

That fruit looks amazing! It looks like you are having fun and you deserve it girl!

Reply

Looks like you had a great time! Can’t wait for the race recap! The weather was perfection yesterday!
Seattle – it’s fun to visit, but the traffic is so bad I’m always glad to head back home! Favorite thing to do – perform in benaroya hall. Amazing place!

Reply

I love Seattle so much! Coming from pancake flat south Florida that has sunshine 24/7 I felt like I was in a completely different world … and I love it! The mountains! The light rain! The delicious coffee! The markets!

So glad you had an awesome time this weekend, and I can’t wait to hear about the actual race. I hope those blisters from last weekend didn’t hurt at all – they looked awful! I got a terrible blister on the bottom of my foot after my first half marathon and hated walking for days!

Reply

I will be dreaming about that berry bar for months, but mainly because of the big bowl of whipped cream :) It was so good to spend the weekend with you. You are a strong and amazing woman and I’m glad running has allowed our paths to cross. xoxo

Reply

I also want to eat all the berries!

Reply

My husbands whole family lives in Seattle (we’re in NY so really far!) and I’ve been there several times and would want to live there if it weren’t for the weather. I need my seasons and I couldn’t take all the rain. I love the food, culture and feel of the city though.

Reply

I have lived in Seattle for almost 2 years, from Boston. You picked a great weekend to visit. The weather is perfect. Portage Bay is one of my fav breakfast spots. Next time take a walk through Freemont (tour Theo’s Chocolates, and they have samples in their store) or Ballard. They both have great Sunday Markets. Seattle Center is also fun with the Space Needle and the Chihuly Garden.

Reply

Holly Berries! Yes, I’ve been to Seattle and right now is the best time of the year to be there. All the food in Seattle is amazing! Walking around Pike’s Place is an experience. It’s fun watching all the fish getting thrown around.

Reply

Never been to Seattle but I need a breakfast bar like that in my life!

Reply

Oh.mygosh. that picture of Brooke. I laughed out loud. That sucker is hilarious. Yep. She’s pretty distraught. Poor thing.

I’m SO hungry. We were up until 4am waiting for the vet to call about a sick kitty who had an emergency and now I’m running on 3 hours of sleep and no food.

I need a nap and a plate of eggs, hashbrowns and some strawberries. You got me with the strawberries.

I can’t believe that little thing ran so freakin’ fast. She’s incredible.

Reply

Looks like an amazing trip! Brooks really hooked you guys up. I bet it was awesome to watch those fast kids! Wow.

Reply

Never been to Seattle. My brother and his fam are going in August.
I ran a 10k today in queens. Slow and steady as I am still healing from tendonitis.
I’ll be working on race recap blog this afternoon
And then I have a date! It’s date #3 and we are going out to dinner. I’m looking forward to it.

My friend ran Seattle yesterday too!
Those berries!!
Oh and my friends 3 year old calls a trampoline a “bouncaline” hahahaha!

Reply

I am going to Seattle in December for a wedding. It will be my first visit and I am pretty darn excited about it!

Reply

Three things I’m doing today:
1.) Beaching and eating a lot on Hilton Head Island
2.) Lazing around and eating a lot on Hilton Head Island
3.) Running around and eating a lot on Hilton Head Island

Vacations are the best. :)

Reply

I love Pike Place Market! Went there every day when I was in Seattle!

Reply

I lived in Seattle for a couple of years, but oddly I ‘do’ more of it once I moved away. The traffic… Portage Bay is ahmazing! I love getting flowers from the Market. Hanging out at GasWorks. Ride the Ducks is always a good intro to the city – especially if the weather is being somewhat cooperative. Kerry Park for that classic Seattle skyline photo – and a fabulous people watching spot on a sunny summer weekend! Wedding photos galore – buy some picnic food from the nearby Metropolitan Market and stay a while! The water taxi out to Alki point. The Fremont Fair/Market/Troll, although Fremont can be a bit different – check the calendar if seeing the nekkid bicyclists isn’t on your list of must-sees! Museum of Flight. Kayaking through the Ballard Locks! Now I’m missing Seattle!

Reply

The naked bicyclists were in the parade yesterday, so for the most part, it’ll only be an occasional surprise nudist out there on a bike for the next month or so. :)

Reply

I went to college in Seattle and Portage Bay is one of my favorite places to eat!! The berry bar gets me every time. Looks like you had an awesome trip!

Reply

Three things today: Went for a run, took my friend to the train station, mentally preparing for a big interview tomorrow!

Reply

Good luck tomorrow Bridget! You are going to rock your interview!

Reply

J, did no one try to catch a fish at pikes?!

Reply

Looks like an amazing trip! I have a definite appreciation for restaurants that have decent gf options besides salad. And that fruit/topping bar looks awesome. I think I’m going to need to make a trip to Seattle soon :)

Reply

Oh my goodness that breakfast bar looks divine. I have never been to Seattle and never really wanted to go until I started watching Grey’s Anatomy. haha

Reply

Hahahah! None of which they actually film in Seattle. :) Just the aerial shots. 10 Things I Hate About You (ie: the greatest movie of all time) was filmed here, though! And… so was The Ring. You’ve got to take the good with the bad, I guess.

Reply

I wish that breakfast bar was in my kitchen every morning! Your shirt is so cute! Where is it from?

I’ve been trying to eat lower carb but I’m craving fruit and that photo did NOT help. lol Seriously though, some blogs I read and I think “I wish I could go shopping with her”. Yours, I think “I wish I could go EATING with her”. It all looks so yummy.

Three things today:
Church
Gym
Semi-sucessfully cut my son’s hair

Reply

Today I got up, swung some bells with friends then ventured into London for the day before coming home to do some boxing and train. All the while, my friend was nannying and had to take them to the boxing class so I ended up doing sprints with a two year old on my back to keep her amused.

I’ve never been to the US, but Seattle is a must on my to-do list!

Reply

Oh yum do they always have pancakes and toppings??!!! my favorite

Reply

They do!!!! Seriously so good!

Reply

That picture of Brooke <3

Reply

I am 5’5” and I know for a fact that my legs are not long enough to be able to carry my body 1 mile in under 5 minutes. How did she do that?! I am extremely impressed and think I need to go do a speed workout.

Also, how is Brooke not glued to the dogs cage? :)

Reply

Hahaha! I just love you! I laughed out loud after reading “I don’t think I put enough berries on mine” and then saw your giant mound of berries! For some reason that just cracked me up, haha! That looks amazingly delicious!

Three things today:
1.Going to church! I haven’t been to our own ward for a few weeks so I’m excited today. I have the greatest ward on the planet!

2. Studying! I have my midterm for my microbiology lab tomorrow and midterm for lecture on Wednesday. Bum bum buuuuum!

3. Eating theeee most delish salad of my own creation – strawberries, bacon, grilled chicken that has been marinating in Raspberry Chipotle Sauce all night, green onions, romaine lettuce and poppyseed dressing! Now that I’m typing this I just realized I forgot the feta cheese…next time! Yum yum!

Enjoy Seattle!!

Reply

I live in Seattle and used to live in walking distance from Portage Bay Cafe! That place gets really busy but I love it! Glad you had a fun time here and that you got to experience our gorgeous summer weather! Can’t wait for the race recap!

Reply

I live in Seattle, and Portage Bay Cafe is amazing. We used to go pretty frequently in my pre-kid life but just haven’t been there much in recent years. A couple weeks ago we took our 2-year-old for his first visit, and his little mind was totally blown by the berry bar. He has not stopped talking about it! :)

Reply

Tell your 2 year old that I can’t stop talking about it either:)

Reply

I live in Seattle and have NEVER made it to the Portage Bay Cafe! My brother always raves about it, though, so I guess now I need to visit. I’m so glad you enjoyed your time here. :)

Reply

That race was CRAZY. My daughter’s coach is also Bethan’s coach – and she’s made incredible progress just this season – I mean, she was a 10:30 3200 runner last track season. It’s nuts. Running in the same league has been so fun.

Reply

Cupcake Royale and/or Wayward Cafe!

Reply

Yay, glad you’re having fun in Seattle! There are so many great places to eat there!

Reply

Brooke’s photo rocks!

Reply

dang. i need to go to seattle for that place alone.

Reply

Buy fresh fish and flowers. Glad Brooke is having fun too. Running, pedicure, massage, shopping and eating out….sorry, that’s four! : ) on a staycation.

Reply

Oh yeah, breakfast is so my thing….I must go there stat! :D

Reply

I’ve been to Seattle twice to visit my bestie. Favorite things were definitely the Space Needle, ferry to an island and wine tasting. I enjoyed my visits but I’m definitely a California girl for life.

Reply

That’s my HS stadium!! Kids and I drove by there over the weekend and wondered what was going on. So cool!
I love the waterfront/market area of Seattle, especially on a sunny day! Did you find the donut vendor at Pike Place Market?? A little booth with a machine that turns out little baby donuts while you wait, then they put them in a paper sack with sugar or sprinkles or cinnamon, shake ’em up and hand them to you, just like that. So yummy!
