The BEST 31 Minutes.

It sure is nice to have my little sidekick back.  We make quite the team.

Remember Lunchables?  I used to have lunchables in elementary school all of the time.

I’ve been loving this adult version of lunchables.  Sharp cheddar cheese, I love you.

IMG 8614

I ran.  My legs felt great.  Hallelujah.  I took the last 5 days off of exercise completely, it just happened and somehow I didn’t freak out about it at all.  I actually really enjoyed it.  I don’t think I have taken that long off from exercise in years (except for after having Brooke).

But now I am ready to get back into my routine.

4 miles with my purple feet and in ‘no-need-for-gloves’ weather.  Winter has been good to us Utahns this year.

IMG 8623

Moral of the story—>  take time off when something is hurting.  Running will always be there for you when you are ready to come back.  It’s not going anywhere.

Brooke reminded me that I needed to foam roll when I got home.

DSC 9955

She showed me how to properly use the foam roller.

DSC 9954

And then she jumped on my back to add a little extra weight so that I really felt it.

That little shoulder.

IMG 8628

Paige and I had a lot to catch up on because I hadn’t seen her since last week.  No better way to talk about everything under the sun than with a mountain of produce and that hummus…  makes the salad.

IMG 8633

After all of those vegetables I needed to consume some fruit.

IMG 8634

Share Size.  Hahaha very funny.  Do people actually share bags of candy?  That just seems weird to me.

Did you have a packed lunch or school lunch back in your elementary school days?  Jr. High?  High School?

-In elementary we always had a packed lunch except on pizza day, then we would get school lunch.  In jr. high I had school lunch and in high school we always went to one of our houses for lunch or to Wendy’s.

How has the winter been in your neck of the woods?

Who has a spring race on the schedule?  Which one?

We did packed lunches but Weds was Papa Johns pizza and Friday was Chik-fil-a. I know, weird. But obviously great. That was elementary/middle, in high school packed lunch every day. I have a spring race in May in England! And then picking fall races now for Virginia/MD/PA areas aka home :)

Reply

I always had a packed lunch- and just like you- we got to buy lunch for Pizza Friday! It was Domino’s pizza so we thought it was the very best, ever. We weren’t allowed to leave campus for HS- so I brought lunch most days, or bought a bagel/cream cheese. Not exciting.

Our winter has been terrible. So bad, I barely want to even discuss it. It is snowing again right now. UGH.

I have a 5k and a 5miler on the schedule this month; a 5 miler and BOSTON next month!

Reply

I love adult-version of lunchables. Such a good snack! I liked lunchables as a kid although the sort of wet/slimy meat was interesting… although it didn’t taste bad!

YAY for running again!! :) Glad you’re back at it! I’m looking at a Double Run (10K + 5K on the same morning) for this spring before marathon training begins!

Reply

We did packed lunches all the time. Buying a school lunch was a once in a long while “treat”!

Winter here in California has been non-existent. We need more rain bad!

I have my first full marathon on Sunday–LA!! I’m actually nervous about the weather being TOO warm!

Yay, so glad you are back to running pain free. Brooke is so cute with the foam roller, lol.

Reply

I only share a bag of candy if someone else has a bag to share, too. Then you’re basically getting a full size “portion.”

I always brought my lunch. I can’t remember ever buying anything other than a carton of milk.

The winter here has been brutal. I can’t wait for no gloves weather. It’s actually supposed to be above freezing here today, so I might actually venture outside to run.

Reply

I had a school lunch just about everyday. In high school, when we finally had options, I would get the same thing every single day. Nutty bar, chocolate soft serve and a Diet Dr. Pepper. Typing that made me cringe.

Winter here had been absolutely horrible. We cracked the top ten for coldest winters here. Yuck.

Reply

I was lucky enough to live within walking distance of my schools as a kid, so I could go home for lunch — it was great!

Reply

I always ate at school. We were never big on packing lunches except for field trip days. Winter has been tough in Arkansas this year. As we speak (or, uh type) I have 4″ of ice across my yard so thick you can’t tell where the yard ends and street begins. Travel is bad enough to make national news. But, I still love winter and dread the 105+ temps coming this summer. I just did the Little Rock half marathon this weekend and have one more race planned for late April: Rock n Roll half in Nashville benefitting St. Jude to make up for the St. Jude race we missed due to ice in December..

Reply

I have a 20 miler this month, and a half on 4/6, and BOSTON on 4/21…LETS GO SPRING! Our winter has been awful… not only tons of snow, but it has been bone chilling cold. You don’t even want to run in this bc it is SO bad. Yet I keep pushing myself out the door anyway, and coming back a little popsicle-y! :)

I always had a bagged lunch until JHS….then i was “too cool” for a homemade after that…or maybe my mom was taking advantage of not having to pack one???? Hmmm…..

Thats so funny about the candy….i laugh at the “serving size” on candy because really, just tell me how many are in the whole entire bag, not one serving.

Reply

Haha at the share size! I have the same issue when I get dessert from a restaurant. No, I don’t need extra silverware… I can do this all on my own. And I will. :)

Reply

Yay for running!!! So happy! I have a marathon planned for May 11th!

Reply

I can’t remember what I used to take for lunch!?!? Ham and coleslaw rolls seem familiar…

Our winter has been incredibly windy but can’t complain too much.

I have a half marathon in 2 weeks. I’m hoping all my winter training pays off.

I like to buy a share pack of sweets to play it safe *in case* I have to share. If not I will easily devour the whole pack!

Reply

My spring race schedule has this theme to it……..show and go. My exercise plan has been following my body. Will it be funny if I PR an event with this training plan?

Reply

Yay for having a good run! I’m on a self prescribed week off after having way too much pain for the last few weeks. I should’ve listened to my body sooner but just couldn’t not run!
Our winter has been pretty brutal, but we’re used to it! It got down to -50 last weekend!

Reply

Winter has been SO mean to us this year!!! I try not to complain a lot…but since you asked :)! I am doing a 5k in 2 weeks and a half in April. I remember buying sometimes in high school and it was so unhealthy or going to starbucks….equally as unhealthy!!!!

Reply

Thanks for the reminder! I’m glad you’ve been listening to your body. I keep feeling like I’m losing all my fitness forever by only walking during pregnancy but I’ll be back one day :) this winter has been crazy. Sunday morning we were in shorts and yesterday schools were cancelled due to ice…

Reply

Yay for running! I am so glad you felt good enough to run again!

I’m learning from your example and am taking off the rest of this week. After my 8 miles on Sunday, my IT Band pain is back with a vengeance! I start PT on Friday and will see what they suggest.

I packed lunch most days all through school, but loved to buy bagels and cream cheese and those fake orange crackers with PB a couple of times a week. My daughter loves to bring Lunchable-like lunches to school multiple days a week.

Our winter has been cold and snowy. Not fun for Northern Virginia! The only race I have this Spring is the 5K fundraiser that I am organizing for my daughter’s school in May.

Reply

So glad you are back to running pain-free…I have the Fitness Mag Women’s Half coming up in April in Manhattan. Ran it last year and can’t wait to run it again! In elementary school, we brought lunch from home except for Thursday which was pizza day (funny I remember the day).

Reply

Our winter has been BRUTAL this year! Way colder than normal! It’s been really tough to motivate myself to run outside. I’ve been using a friend’s treadmill once a week, and then doing some type of cross-training once a week so that I don’t have to go outside every day. :)

I’ve got two 50K’s coming up in April!

Reply

This winter has been the worst one we have had in a long time. Thankfully this is my last one where we are living which makes it a little more tolerable! Glad to see that Brooke is back – she is too adorable and glad to hear that you got a run in! I am going here soon to run my 2nd run since coming back from injury. It always makes me nervous and excited all in one!

Reply

That is wonderful news! So happy for you!

I always packed lunch throughout school. Pizza day was the exception which makes me laugh because when I think back now to the pizza, it really was quite nasty.

Colorado has had an OK winter. I have been forced not to run or go indoors about 15 times since December. March is our snowiest month but hoping it comes in the form of rain instead (like last night).

No races on the calendar. I might try a 5K sometime this spring or summer but we’ll see. I am pretty happy with my 4 days of running per week with no speed-work or drills. Just fun running for pure enjoyment!

Reply

In high school I used to save my lunch money for spending money, eat a candy bar at lunch (we weren’t allowed to leave campus) then make myself a real lunch when I got home from school. Now that I’m a mom I feel so guilty about that! Good thing my dad doesn’t read your blog.

Reply

ZOOMA Texas in April! Apparently its been colder than usual in Austin. We just moved here (I’m from WI) so I’m enjoying it… haha.

Reply

packed lunch! lunchables were the bomb – especially the make-your-own-pizza ones!

Reply

omg Brooke is the cutest!!!! That smile can’t do anything but make you happy!

Reply

I almost always packed my lunches in High School- even then, I wasn’t crazy about the sketchy Cafeteria options!

Reply

That shoulder picture of Brooke is just purely adorable! Seriously, if I ever have a kid I hope she is as cute as Brooke. I loved lunchables when I was a kid, but I remember in junior high I discovered that I could make them myself, and it was like falling in love all over again! I could then eat them whenever I wanted!! Hahaha I said that same thing about “share size” to my boyfriend. He said I was greedy, I agreed haha

Reply

In elementary we would check our the schedule for the month and our mom would give us money for just the days we wanted the school lunch and then we would pack a lunch the other days. Jr High and high school we had school lunch.

Reply

I always brought my lunch. My mother was into healthy eating – thank goodness! She would pack everything in individual Tupperware. My lunch bag wouldn’t fit in my locker some days and I’d have to carry it around. My friends would pull out their smooshed sandwiches and mine was always well-protected in the plastic container. Ha! My dorkiness was apparent even then.

Reply

95% of the time I had a packed lunch. My mom always packed me the best lunches! She usually wrote notes on my napkins too which at the time I thought was cheesy but looking back I love it. Our winter has been VERY weird! I live in South GA and in any given week we have been experiencing all four seasons. It will go from 75 to 45 from one day to the next. We even had two days where schools closed because it was too cold and icy for people to be on the roads!

Reply

So happy to hear about the GOOD news for running! Awesome that you aren’t in pain anymore – and so good that you ‘felt ok’ not exercising for five days. Seriously that’s huge. Teach me your ways.

Reply

YAY for your run!! So glad you feel better!! And I love reading the reminder to take time off, it won’t kill you, and your running will be better because of it! I tend to think I need to keep pushing through, and I’ve ended up hurt a few times.

I took my lunch every single day, even through high school. And the real truth, my mom packed it for me… yup! No shame! I always had to have something sweet, so I usually always had a fun sized candy bar or cookie :) I hated Lunchables then, but I love them now!

Reply

So happy you got a good run in! :)

We always had brown bag lunches growing up. I think once in a while my mom let us get the pizza and chocolate milk deal on Wednesday’s at school?

It’s been freezing cold/snowy/icy in Boston this winter….. I can’t wait for it to warm up a bit so I can run outside again!!!

Reply

My school had “hot lunch” M/W/F, so my mom would let us get that if we wanted it. Otherwise it was packed lunch that consisted of PB&J, applesauce, pretzels, and maybe some cookies or something.

I’m doing the Canyonlands Half in Moab on the 15th! Eeeek!

Reply

I was about the same as you and my elementary kiddos do the same, packed lunch unless it’s pizza day :)
So Cal = no such thing as winter ;) I ran before 5am today in shorts and a tank top.
I have a few 5k’s coming up and then 2 scheduled for August.

Reply

My mom was the lunch secretary at school so we had hot lunches except when there were field trips. She always let us get some kind of hostess treat for those days. My daughter had a lunchable last year and would not eat the cheese. It looked really spongy and it tasted awful. I checked out the adult ones. They looked good.

In high school we went to a sandwich shop across the street. Half a sandwich for $1.25. And 1 chocolate candy and 1 fruity candy for $1.00. That was my awesome, healthy lunch.

I have a local 10k in 2 weeks and glow run in 2 months. Still looking for a few more in between those.

Winter has been brutal in MD were so not used to it!

Reply

winter here has been brutal! too much snow, and no plows for the running trails. I have the Rock N’ Roll USA half in 10 days!!

Reply

My Mom used to make me take lunch but I was a rebel and I gave it away a lot so I could eat the school lunch.
We only have two seasons in Florida – Hurricane, and Not Hurricane. Currently it is Not Hurricane which has been good.
And I have 3 half marys scheduled in the next 6 weeks….oops.

Reply

ah so cute how she brings it to you and copies you foam rolling! I love itt. Also I love her striped pants!
BTW I got the same foam roller for christmas (I specifically requested) after seeing it on your blog!
I’m glad your back to running. It is nice to have time off though and when it’s done you know you are fine without it too.
I always packed lunches. I’ve always been a picky eater so no way would I eat a school lunch.

Reply

Share size is share size in my house because I won’t eat certain colors. Although with Skittles if you mix the bad colors with the good colors you don’t notice as much.

I’m well known for not sharing Hot Tamales. I didn’t eat. I’d get the hot lunch and then eat the roll or something. But pizza day was always good. Or chili day. Why you ask? Because the chili came with cinnamon rolls. Who ate the chili? pssh. Not this girl. But that was an amazing cinnamon roll.

Reply

I mostly brought my lunch in elementary, Jr High and High school. On the days where we had really good lunches in HS, I would buy. I still bring my lunch to work most days, but that’s mainly because I’m too cheap to buy it. :)

The weather in Boston has been FREEZING and snowy! But, Saturday is expected to be in the mid to upper 40s, so I can’t wait to get in my long run outside.

My first spring race is the More Women’s half in NYC. I can’t wait!

Have a good day!

Reply

Oh goodness, how blessed does one feel during the first post-rest/post-injury/post-psh run?! J-O-Y!

Momma packed a lunch for my sister and I most days of the week. Of course, when I got to high school (and played three sports all year long), I wanted PIZZA from the food court!

My very first winter in Chicago (after moving from Texas) has been…I mean, wow…just…wowwwwwwwwww. Haha

I have the Wisconsin (what was the full, but had to push back to the half since I’m having surgery soon, and that’d goober up training) half marathon in May! Looking forward to some snow-free racing! Of course, with the way things have been going, I’m not sure May will even be Polar Vortex-free. >:P

Reply

I always had a packed lunch as a kid (almost always PB&J because it just can’t be beat!) Occasionally I would buy lunch if it was Frito Chili Pie day :)

Our winter has been COLD! Well, cold for Texas. But still, I’m ready for some spring like weather!

I’m thinking about doing a couple little 5ks in May, but my March and April are filled up because I’m getting married at the end of April! I’m looking forward to having a little downtime once the wedding is behind me :)

Reply

I LOVED Frito Chili pie day!!! Werent they the best?!

Reply

oh man- I am craving a lunchable now! those pizza ones were the BEST! :)

Reply

I’m still looking for a Spring race! I had planned on the Cherry Blossom 5k, but I didn’t get in through the lottery (it’s a very popular race). I’m volunteering instead so that I get an automatic entry next year. But that leaves my calendar open. Whatever I choose will be my first race, and I want it to be fun!

Reply

Ohh, I loved Lunchables! I had packed lunch all throughout, but you know how the grass is always greener? I always wanted school lunch! Especially the beef cutlet. It was legendary in Omaha.

Winter…hmm well yesterday was the first day above zero in Omaha for like 4 days. So, yeah its been brutal :-) Today its above zero, though. And I’m goin running!

No spring races yet – I need one – any ideas?

Reply

I’m in Omaha too! Cant wait til Spring and warm weather!!!

Reply

Winter has been good here in Denver too! We had a REALLY cold week at the beginning of February with negative temps., but we’ve had a lot of nice days too! I’m hoping March and April are nice too!

Reply

I used to always take my lunch to school until in high school my friends and I started to drive, then we’d go to fast food places to eat.

Reply

I always are school lunch. I’m not sure why come to think of it because it was gross food! Yuck! The pic of Brooke on your back is super cute!

Reply

I’ve never seen share size candy before either. Seriously who shares candy?

Reply

Winter in Minnesota has been awful this year.. Polar Vortex says it all… too many days below zero to count.. We are finally on a warm up.. 20 today!

I never ate lunch in Jr or HS. I’d never ask for lunch money and would never think of packing a lunch.. Just would watch everyone else eat.. and I’d never eat breakfast!

5K I love Burnsville in May… I ran this 2 years ago and placed 2nd in my 40-49 year old age group. Looking forward to running it again and hopefully coming in 1st! I’ll never be as fast as you.. but my goals are around a 7 minute per mile time.. I think I can.. I think I can?

Reply

I brought my lunch all through middle and high school – brown paper bagger for life!

I have 6 races from now until May (which I say is the end of Spring). Most are to get me ready for my goal race which is the Colfax 13.1 in May. I would be lying if I didn’t say I want a big PR.

I’m glad the weather is nice for you! Sunshine = happiness

Reply

In high school I would always buy a soft pretzel with cheese sauce, a grape snapple, and 3 cookies for a dollar. Looking back omg how horrible! I am ready for the snow to melt in jersey! And no race plans yet. A random 5k at the end of March is all I’ve got planned. Woo

Reply

Same thing as you for Elementary and then in Middle and High school I always bought! This winter has been awful!!! I have a 1/2 on the docket for the spring time!

Reply

Hooray for Brooke and running coming back to you!

My mom always packed my lunch until later on in high school when I would buy food – if only I could go back to my mom packing me lunch now to bring to work, haha!

Reply

Lunch was a mixture of home and school, depending on what school was serving.

Tillamook extra sharp, vintage white cheese is absolutely divine. I may just purchase it in the large, 2 lb block. I feel bad for anyone who can’t have dairy.

Cache Valley winter has been awesome! I can’t wait for warmer weather.

Reply

Mostly I had school lunch. Yuck. But sometimes my mom would pack my lunch. It was always juicy juice, a turkey sandwich with mustard and fruit. No goodies. All my friends had hostess cupcakes and wise potato chips and Capri sun or Hawaiian punch.

We have had about 60 inches of snow total this winter which is up there for NYC.
It’s above freezing today. No hat or scarf. I feel naked. Lol.

I’ve got the NYC half on 3/16. The love run 1/2 in Philly on 3/30 and my goal race of the year is the nj marathon on 4/27. And the Brooklyn half on May 17th. So lots of spring races.

Yay for having your sidekick back. And yay for no pain running.

Reply

Packed lunch almost every day! I’m a super picky eater so my mom wanted to make sure I got something I would eat. Plus I like(d) to graze throughout the day. If she didn’t pack my lunch (and when I got older I would pack one), I wouldn’t have a snack!

Reply

Aww man, I always wanted Lunchables sooo bad!! But my parents would never buy them. Same for single-serving bags of chips. I always had chips in a ziploc bag–mortifying for a second-grader, haha.

Reply

I always had a packed lunch in elementary and junior high. As soon as I could drive in high school I went out all the time. Remember when you could get two items at Wendy’s for $2.11 with tax? I’m a Utah person and I can just feel spring coming!

Reply

I’m really happy for you Janae! That run must have felt so awesome. I know everytime I run after a long break (or any break) I feel like an awkward chicken running around with my head cut off. After a few runs I start to feel better but it takes a while LOL.

I normally packed lunch myself but bought lunch once a week or so.

Reply

My parents would never let us eat lunchables but my mom always packed us the “healthy” version!!! Cheese squares, all natural meat and whole wheat crackers!!!! LOL
You HAVE to check out a running line, if you have not heard of them already. INKnBURN, the most AMAZING running capris my legs have ever worn!! I just bought them and broke them in this morning on my 4 mile run!! Also, Oiselle line. . . its a woman line only and tested only on woman!!!!! I promise those 2 brands will change your life and runs;-)
We are in Charlotte and just moved here from CT. Spring may finally be here!! We have had CT like temps, makes me feel a little at home!!!
No race yet:-( I was going to run the Concord Speedway 1/2 next weekend. But plans changed!! Cannot wait to get a race on the calendar!!!!! Happy Wednesday!

Her shoulder pop is toooo cute.

YAY for getting to run again–I bet that felt so amazing <3

Ummmm yes Jason's deli has the best hummus! I so agree!

Reply

Aaaah, your daughter is so damn precious. The picture of her on you… so sweet :)

It’s been oddly humid here in CA. It’s been raining off an on, and looks like it wants to keep raining but doesn’t. And it feels warm. It doesn’t feel like winter. I think the seasons are shifting :\

Signed up for the Livermore Half at the end of March which I am NOT ready for. And The Ave 1/2 in May which is doable.

Reply

Youve got a future coach on your hands! And LOL at sharing candy. That’s a good way to lose a finger.

Reply

I will take winter in Seattle over winter in Boston any day. It has been mild although I had a soaking 5 miler this morning.
I have a half this weekend and the Boston Marathon next month!

Reply

I always ate school lunch. It was nummy! Of course the quality of school lunch has plummeted since I went to high school. I’ve made up for it with work. I always pack a lunch. When I became a nurse and started working in the hospital in 2003 I refused to pay so much for lunch and I still pack one when I go to different bases. Of course I feel buying a 4 dollar coffee makes perfect sense.
I live about 30 miles north of you in SLC. Pretty sure we have the same weather. I wish it would snow more! Not freezing cold, just snow.
SLC half! I’m training!

Reply

I am so happy for you Janae that are able to run again with no pain! It is a great feeling to get back to the routine after being away from it. It makes you really appreciate your health and what you have. And I used to love lunchables and still eat them at 27 years old!

I used to have packed lunches expect for Steak and Cheese Sub day on Thursdays in Middle School! My Dad would give me lunch money those days to buy a sub, fries, and a slushie. :)

Reply

I am glad you are feeling better and can run again! I am also glad Brooke is back with you. She is so cute! Our winter here in Texas has been colder than usual, however, I know it still doesn’t compare to the winter you have had! I’m just a baby in the cold. :) Oh and I loved lunchables in elementary school! I always loved the pizza ones and the nacho ones. Obviously the healthy ones. ;)

Reply

yay for running again! brooke looks like a natural with the foam roller. it’s only a matter of time before you’re signing up for races together ;)

i’m drooling over your giant salad. i’ve randomly been obsessed with green peas lately, and hard-boiled eggs and hummus are constantly a craving of mine!

Reply

My mom was the all home-made all healthy type so I was always upset that she made me bring a sandwich on home made whole wheat bread with veggies and cheese or tuna -What I wanted to bring for lunch was a fluffernutter on white bread like all my friends . I think a fluffernutter is a New England thing… peanut butter and fluff (marshmellow spread) on bread (usually white bread) they are fabulous! and I still wish I could eat one everyday for lunch but my mom brain-washed me into thinking it’s not the most healthy lunch to eat.

Reply

Brooke is such a good sport helping you out there with that foam rolling. You definitely have a future runner on your hands, love it!

“Running will always be there for you when you are ready to come back. It’s not going anywhere.”

……Great advice and wisdom – just when I needed it!! Thanks!! =)

I sprained my ankle on January 4th and am still not back to running. I start PT tomorrow and hopefully that will help me turn the corner. It’s been incredibly depressing – on the upside I live in the burbs of Chicago and running outdoors has been just about impossible this winter anyway! Wait…. now that I think about it – the “upside” is also incredibly depressing!!! =(

Reply

I’m glad you took a break from exercise! I know that sounds funny but I’m learning to do that too. I’m training for a half in May (answers your next question about a Spring race) which is the Brooklyn Half on 5/17 and I worried about missing one training day. I know that’s absolutely not a big deal, especially since this will be my 3rd half but I just didn’t plan it and I like to plan. I need to chill out. :)

Did you have a packed lunch or school lunch back in your elementary school days? Jr. High? High School? I mostly packed a lunch but every now and then would have some crazy junk food in school. That was before there were many healthy options offered.

The winter here in Upstate NY has been horribly snowy and cold. I can’t remember one being this bad in a very long time. Spring needs to get here and fast!

Reply

I had packed lunches all through school. Pretty much up until college. And my lovely mom packed them all! I probably should be a little embarrassed about having a packed lunch by mom at eighteen years old, but…nope, not even a little.

Winter here has been AWFUL. It’s March and we’re still getting snow.

Reply

I always packed my lunch for school and it was always the same – sandwich, yogurt, apple and crackers.

I have two races on my schedule right now – my first half in two and a half weeks and then the Boston Marathon in 47 DAYS! After that I don’t have any races on the schedule because we might be MOVING and its hard to sign up for races when you don’t exactly know where you’ll be living in a month. haha

Reply

I loved lunchables as a kid! I also loved Dunkaroos and have made an adult version from teddy grahams and Nutella <3

Reply

Winter has actually been pretty brutal to us than normal, but it’s all relative. We’re not use to getting much snow so the world goes crazy when we do. In fact, we’re currently on our ninth snow day of the year!

Reply

Grew up in a small town so always went home for lunch.

Winter has been absolutely terrible up here and I’m so ready for Spring. It was -33 celsius this morning. All of my running is on the treadmill for about 6 months straight because there’s no way I’m running in that cold and snow!

Reply

Hi Janae! This is my first time commenting and I LOVE your blog! I’ve been reading it from the beginning and you are such an awesome girl and such an inspiration :) Also Brooke is the cutest thing ever and you two definitely make a great team!

I live in NZ so it has been summer here but as soon as we hit March this year the temperature dropped -our humidity went from 94% to 87% so we are pretty much freezing here :)

Reply

– when I say reading it from the beginning I mean reading past posts you did, I found your blog about a month ago and it has taken my running to a whole new level :)

Reply

I used to love lunchables too! I kind of did a little bit of everything in school when it came to my lunch, I would pack it, eat school lunch, or go somewhere else to eat. I am so glad that you are running again! I don’t have a spring race planned, but I am going to be running a five mile run in May and a half marathon in September! Wahoo!!!

Reply

Winter has been rough here in Wisconsin, lots of negative digit temps and a TON of snow. The roads still have a lot of ice on them so running outside right now is difficult, thank goodness for a gym membership and a home treadmill. I have the Minneapolis Marathon on June 1st, hoping to break 3:20 in the marathon! Also a couple 5ks and a couple half marathons in there as well.

Reply

I have the Long Island half marathon scheduled for May 4th and I’m super excited about it. I’m running for time this time, in October I ran with girlfriends so we chatted the whole way (it was definitely not a PR for any of us). Anyway, glad you’re back to running and I hope you stay healthy for your next race=)

I’m a wimp for saying this, since the coldest it got here this year was 26F, but I’m dying of cold. It’s been a miserable, gray, wet winter.

I ate weird food as a kid. I remember eating honey roasted peanuts for lunch for several months. I did love lunchables, though.

Winter has been terrible in philly. I feel like it may never be spring or summer. I’m holding out hope, though.

2 spring races: CherryBlossom 10 miler in DC in a month, and the Pittsburgh Half Marathon a month later.

Definitely had packed lunches in grade school (but I dont remember them being good *sorry mom* — ie cinnamon and sugar on toast, and a juicebox… wait that couldn’t have been everything…). And in highschool it was kind of fend yourself.. either make a cheese sandwich and bring whatever fruit we had, or use your allowance and buy stuff. Of course I opted for vending machine purchases.

Glad the winter has been kind to SOMEONE cause it has been effing TERRIBLE here in North Carolina of all places. I am looking out the window right now, kind of whimpering because I have some speedwork that I have to do, and I am just not looking forward to it because it’s yucky and cold out and I will have to put a headlamp on.

Winter has been long and awful. The first snowstorm arrived early December and it hasn’t stopped. I am aching for glove free runs and daylight running conditions. Thank god the clocks go forward this weekend!!

I used to LOVE lunchables! They were the best :)

we got MORE snow today, and expected to get more this weekend. We are already over 6 ft. It is crazy.

We have a 5k coming up in April it is the Eggshell Shuffle.

Also I wanted to share this with you… it is hilarious http://morningnews.wgntv.com/2014/03/03/dans-hilarious-frozen-inspired-parody-let-it-go-chicago/

Awesome that you are running again! Woot woo!

We have had a much worse than usual winter, but since I love the snow, I don’t mind! :-)

I always took my lunch to school because my schools had the world’s worse lunches, and I was such a picky eater.

I pretty much always had a packed lunch except for one year of middle school and two years of high school (when I ate nachos and skittles from the snack bar every day).

Winter has been extra cold and snowy this year, I’m ready for spring!

I have a the Sleepy Hollow Half Marathon on March 22nd! It’s getting close!

I am going NUTS over Trader Joe’s lemon arugula chicken salad. Best $3.99 I spend way too often. :) Who has even ever heard of pimento dressing?! So good!

I am not good at sharing my candy :(

I have some fun races on my spring calendar. I just hope the weather will actually feel like spring!

I used to bring a packed lunch in elementary school, in middle school I bought lunch, and in HS I went out for lunch. Winter here in Baltimore has been awful! Freezing cold, snow/ice almost every week….I hope spring will be here soon! I am running in the Raleigh Marathon on April 13th!
