How do you cope with life without…

This picture has two parts to discuss.

1.  My mom saw these Oreos at the store and thought of me.  I love that cookies/high sugar items remind people of me.  We haven’t tried them out yet but I am sure hopeful that they will be good.

2.  Brooke is suddenly obsessed with her blanket and when we are home it is always in her hand.

It is never too early to teach your children to take donuts to their friend on their birthday.  These are the bday girl’s favorite treats…  She is a smart girl.

Actually, this life lesson probably is a little early.

IMG 8390

I won’t have the Brookers this coming weekend and so I decided we are going on special dates together every day/night until Friday.  If I don’t have Brooke AND I can’t run this weekend…  Watch out.  Things might get a little scary over here.  How else is one to cope with life without Brookers and running?

Brooke is clearly thrilled with this date idea.

Full review on the donut mix that I included in the previous post:  THEY ARE DELICIOUS but they don’t look as pretty as the box makes them look.  Mine looked more like cookies and I didn’t put the sprinkles on fast enough so they all fell on the plate.  I think it was about $2.50 for the box and they made 20.  I don’t think the chocolate ones looked as good as the vanilla glazed donuts but that is just what I think.

** All opinions are my own and if Pillsbury ever contacted me to do a review you would have definitely heard about it for months and months.  I just really like donuts and feel the need to give you a detailed analysis on them.  Now I just need to find a box mix for apple fritters and a frying machine.

DSC 9910

I think the donuts were a success.  I won’t tell you how many we each had.  Sweatpants and tall black boots and I didn’t even wear shoes to my friend’s house, keepin’ it classy.

IMG 8408

It was 55 degrees yesterday and so Brooke and I started working on her spring wardrobe.  I take great pride in dressing my daughter in fun stuff so that no one notices that I am still in my gym clothes all day long.

IMG 8405

And just one more picture from me and my sister’s scooter adventure.  We have already started planning the places we are going to scoot to this summer.  We are going to put some serious miles on these things.  We might need to get a few more matching outfits though.

Most looking forward to the weather and vacations, we are hoping to start planning a fun summer vacation in the next few weeks. Last baked good was a vanilla almond cake around Valentine’s Day and I definitely had a special blanket, it was yellow and I slept with it when I was little :)

Yes, I did have a special blanket. I still have it actually!!

BAHAHAHAHA. I cannot stop laughing at that photo. I love it.

Anyways-I have certain brands too that I’m like if they ever contacted me yes please and I would brag about it for months. Those donuts do look really good.

I had a stuffed bear myself which currently sits on the shelf now. It’s hard to believe that thing is 22 years old ha ha.

I’m looking forward to cute summer dresses and shorts. I’m so over coats and pants!! I’m also looking forward to sandals!!! I LOVE my sandals.

I did have a special blanket, it was a small precious moments one that’s tucked away somewhere.

P.S. I am trying to start a scooter gang here at work!! I really want one. I also miss roller blading!

Reply

ahhh I made homemade angel food cake (chocolate chip with chocolate ganache!) this weekend and it rocked my socks.

I want summer weather for beaches and being outside… and not having to dodge ice and deal with snow. And more daylight!

I can’t wait for longer days and sunshine. How are your legs doing?

Reply

Please tell me you guys are going to come up with some awesome dance routines with the scooters?

I’m most looking forward to not being pregnant anymore this summer :)

Reply

I didn’t have a blanket, but I still have my favorite stuffed dog named Woofy (<– so creative I know). I got him when I was two years old, so he is now over 25 years old!

Are you doing yoga on the scooter? Getting in a double cross training session at one time! Such a pro! : )

Reply

I’m totally looking forward to warmer weather and SUNSHINE!! I’m getting depressed without it :-(

I don’t bake a lot cuz I know ill eat it…lol. My 13 year old bakes these awesome sugar cookies with choco chips and coconut though. I’m a bit obsessed with asking her to make them…

I did have a blankie and i forgot about it till you mentioned it! Wonder what happened to it? Hmmmmm

Reply

The other night I was looking at my pile of overripe bananas and decided to whip up some banana bread! I think it turned out well..but I sent to the loaf to my boyfriend so I only tried a sliver. He’s used to me taking bites of his food haha.

I can’t wait for summer!!! BBQs are my FAVORITE! And summer nights :)) And the Fourth of July!

I had blankets as a kid and called them my “Dees.” Okay to be honest one is still floating around me bed somewhere. More like a disgusting shred of fabric. When my boyfriend sees it he FREAKS out – it’s hilarious! Good questions today!!

Donuts on birthdays, cant go wrong with that and never to early to teach that. I learn so much from reading, I am starting dates with my daughter as soon as she is out of diapers, such a wonderful event.
About Summer – Wedding, we are finally getting married
Baked Good – Classic chocolate chip cookies, they were fantastic and I had too many
Special Blanket – I cant remember, but it is pretty common and super adorable. My daughet is in love with Hello Kitty and she holds them just like a baby. Super Cute.
Bachelor – No Comment!

To be honest I still kind of have a ‘blanket’! There’s a gorgeous old quilt that’s been in my family since my parents got married (38 years ago) that I always used to get out when I was ill then when I moved out I took it with me. Anytime I’m sick or feeling crappy, or just generally fancy a duvet day out comes the blanket! :-)

Reply

Last baked good: Mexican chocolate streusel cake.
Blanket: had cows and farm animals, my mom made it for me.
Bachelor: She was my favorite too! She had the best heart of all the girls, and it was so obvious.

Reply

I feel like he has a physical connection with Claire, and that is about it. Definitely seems like there is a lack in any depth of relationship……..are the cameras never rolling when there is real conversation happening? (I guess we are talking about the bachelor here)

No Brooke and no running might mean baking, trying out new restaurants, hosting a dinner party, shopping, spa treatments.

I am going to attempt to post that link.. I am technology challenged! I have made these only one time, they made my house smell like oil for a day or two, but SO WORTH IT. DELISH!!!!!

Reply

I pulled all my favourite summer outfits out this weekend to pack for our warm vacation and that was a pretty great feeling. only two more sleeps until our trip!

I watched the Bachelor and was upset with his choice of who went home as well… but I totally knew it was coming. I don’t think he was physically as into her as the others.

Reply

I look forward to long relaxing runs outside during the summer. Oh and we are MOVING!! Which means we will be closer to family and friends which is exciting! There are so many great things to look forward to! :)

Let me know how you like those oreos!!

Reply

I can’t wait for summer because summer means morning runs will not be in the complete dark!!

Last baked good was brownies…I had one with starburst jelly beans on the side the other night, so good.

I still have my blanket…its green with a silky edge.

Reply

I canNOT believe he sent her home!! She was my #1 and the only one I really felt would be a perfect fit for him. JP what are you doing??!?! I almost cried.

Reply

How are you getting such nice spring weather already?! Is that normal for Utah? I am JEALOUS!!! And the scooter picture is hilarious! :) I love you two! :)

Reply

Looking forward to having a baby this summer! Thursday I am going to bake brownies with cookie dough icing! I can’t believe who he sent home – she was the only good one!

Reply

I just REALLY cannot wait to get out of this cold weather……The snow we are getting is unbelievable!!!
55 is awesome-I am SO jealous of you! :)

Last bakes treat i made was last week–> Maple bacon cupcakes and they were so good I could have married them!

Reply

The last baked goods I made we on Valentine’s Day – Cookie Dough Oreo Truffles. THEY WERE AMAZING. I gave them to all my friends, and they raved. The recipe is on my blog.

Yep, had a blanket, teddy. etc. The works!

The Bachelor is boring me this season, but my friend is in the hospital right now so it was the perfect way for us to enjoy a little distraction last night :-). Claire and Nikki are very annoying! I loved Rene but if not Rene, I’m rootin’ for Andie!

-The girl that went home was my favorite.

Reply

You are so lucky to have a strong relationship with your sister. I have seven sisters, and we all get along, but I am not as close with any of them as you are with your sister.

It is snowing outside my window. Boo. Come on, Spring!!

Reply

Ahhh love the cute spring attire for Brooke!

I can’t wait for my baby to be born this summer! August 2nd can’t come soon enough :)

The last thing I baked was almond butter chocolate chip blondie bars last night. Yum!

Reply

As a child of the 80s, I didn’t have a blanket, I have a pillow person. Named mr. pillow, who still lives in my parents house on my bed and I have an exceptionally unhealthy attachment to.

Reply

I still sleep with my baby blanket… it freaks my husband out.

And I was so sad that Renee went home! She was the only sane one. I’m slightly embarrassed about how excited I am that there are two episodes in a row this week…. but seeing how crazy sauce Clare is always makes me feel a little better about myself.

Have a good day, Janae! :)

Reply

I’d have to say that the thing I’m looking forward to most about summer is actually being able to go outside without having to worry that I’m going to freeze my face off. That and watermelon :D And no blankets for this girl, but I did have a floppy dog teddy that I was obsessed with. Heck, I’m still obsessed with him.

Reply

I don’t believe summer will ever come. It’s been quite the long winter.
I actually hate hot humid weather but I am looking forward to having summer Fridays at the office. And since I am not doing a fall marathon this year that means I will have extra time to just take nice walks and sip iced coffee.

Reminds me I should plan some vacation at least one this year.

I haven’t baked in a long time but my favorite is my grandmas rum cake recipe.
It’s basically a yellow cake mix with pudding added to the batter and placed in a bunt pan. Then it gets a sugar glaze that has lots of rum in it and walnuts.

Reply

Oh man, I loooove doughnuts! Chocolate glazed are my favorite!

Brook is such a fashionista! I love it!

I did have a special blanket when I was little and it went everywhere with me! It got so beat up!

Reply

You eat sugary foods to cope with life this weekend :). Last baked thing I made was a granola bar, it had everyone in the boyfriend’s family addicted. I think it was a win :). Looking forward to swimming, tanning, volunterring, and just being able to sleep a little, oh and the weather :)

Reply

I can’t wait for summer so I can run outside, bike, and rollerblade! And walk everywhere instead of drive.

I still have my very same blanket…I don’t carry it around anymore of course, but it’s on my bed :)

Reply

Last baked things were mini bakewell sponges. They were awesome if I do say so myself. Pics on my blog.

Im looking forward to the sunshine – Its never too hot for me. Falling asleep outside is awesome

Reply

This is the first season that I’m just not that into, yet I obviously keep watching. I’m not inspired by any of the relationships. Like, I loved Sean and Katherine. But this season feels gross and unremarkable, so maybe it’s good that the only sweet, normal seeming one went home without him.

Reply

I am most looking forward to the beach and long days full of sunlight and cold drinks by the pool. Ahh now I’m daydreaming :)

Reply

Summer – just some warmth! I can’t take any more snow!
Baked good – funfetti valentines day cupcakes.. and then I ate one every day for breakfast
No blanket but I did have a bunny that I took everywhere with me (she secretly came to college too)

BACHELOR! – I’m very torn because I love the show but I’m not super happy with this season. Renee was my favorite but I can’t really see him being with any of them for the long haul and I can’t see any of them being a great bachelorette either.

Very excited to see what happens tonight. I hope the previews aren’t just blowing it out of proportion. I may even have to get some froyo before I watch :)

Reply

I was saying exactly the same thing last night! Renee was my all-time favourite but so far none of the girls left or that have recently left seem like Bachelorette material, who knows what they’ll do.

Reply

This spring I’m looking forward to running without my gloves and mittens!

I made brownies this past weekend. Pretty basic in the baking department, but they were yummy!

Reply

I was said that Renee went home on The Bachelor too! I really wanted her to win. Thanks to Reality Steve, I already know who won and who is the next Bachelorette… no spoilers though.

Reply

We are taking a road trip and our kids are going on their first cruise!! I’m beyond excited!
The hubs is the baker ;)
I had a Pooh blanket with satin edges. I slept with that thing until I moved out.

Reply

We made banana chocolate chip muffins last night.

The scooter shot made me think you should do synchronized scooter routines. That would take it to the next level.

Reply

Is that normal weather for Utah? So jealous that u have no snow. We are in British Columbia Canada and for the past 2 days it’s been snowing.
Agree with Erica about the Bachelor I think that he has nothing in common with any of these ladies.
Last thing I baked was chocolate avocado muffins. They turned out gummy cause I used a non gluten flour mix, but I’ll still eat anything chocolate!

Reply

I made Ghiradelli brownies, which are better then homemade. I did not have a blanket but both my girls slept with a lovey.

Reply

This will be my first summer back in MN since we moved to Europe. I can’t wait! We are going to be there for 5 weeks. I will be getting lots of sister shopping time in and E will get in lots of good times with his 20(!!) cousins! Is it June yet :)

Reply

Last thing I baked – hmm. I think banana chocolate chip muffins and right before that was waffle iron chocolate chip cookies. You must make some cookies on a waffle iron – so fun and so good.

Reply

I like no bake sweets. The last one I tried was oatmeal butter cookies. It was a big FAIL. Looking forward this summer. I already booked a vacation with my friends Can’t wait!

Reply

You and your sister are so cute. I love how close your family is!

Reply

Totally had a blanket and it was yellow and I had it with me at all times, it eventually became a poor knotted up threadbare thing. Loved it to death, literally.

Reply

I made red velvet cupcakes for valentines day. They were gluten free and delish.

Reply

I need to move. Your sunshine and warmth out there looks so amazing. It was like 5 degrees this morning here. Also – this weekend make TONS OF PLANS so that you are distracted!

Reply

I went through a phase of scooting everywhere, then one day I was scooting along and hit a tiny bump in the sidewalk and my scooter shot backward and I flew OVER THE HANDLEBARS in the opposite direction. It was so ridiculous I couldn’t stop laughing (even though I was in a lot of pain) and people were stopping their cars on the busy street I was on to help me, and they probably thought I was absolutely insane, laying on the ground bleeding and maniacally laughing. I wish I could explain it better because it really was hilarious. So you and your sister, be careful! Haha.

Reply

Hi Janae – are you not able to run Phoenix this weekend? I’m so sorry about that!

I tried the birthday cake oreos and they are delicious. I love all things Oreo.

Reply

What do you mean “did” I have a special blanket?? I still do! Love my blankie ;)

Reply

What is not to look forward to about summer? Beach, bathing suits, cold drinks, hiking, biking, windows down, poolside reading, BBQs, cute sandals, dresses…the list goes on and on. The Bachelor has me all confused – not sure how I’m feeling about the final ladies – he let the best one go!

Reply

I am so looking forward to camping and fishing in Island Park with my family and my in-laws. It’s the best thing ever. Also looking forward to my races this summer. My first two triathlons, a Ragnar, and a half marathon. Wahoo!
The picture of Brooke and her blankie nearly put me over the edge, she is so darn cute!

Reply

I still have my special blanket! My grandma knitted it for me when I was 5ish. It’s pink, purple and blue stipped :) She made it big enough for me to grow into it, and I totally still snuggle up in it when I’m sad. I also still have my doggie stuffed animal. There are somethings you just can’t get rid of! :)

What I’m looking forward to about summer is no longer freezing in my apartment! My roommate and I can’t afford to keep the heat on all the time, so I’m usually bundled up. It’ll be nice not to need a million layers to stay warm inside.

Oh, and I’m also looking forward to no more rain. It has been raining every day here for a few weeks, so most of my runs have been on the treadmill unless I catch a break in the rain.

Have a great day Janae!

Those berry burst Oreos are addictive. Highly addictive!

At the age of 30, I am not ashamed to admit that I still have my blanket. My husband hates it, but that’s too bad for him I guess.

Reply

Ugh… your blog posts all make me crave donuts like none other! I can’t even remember the last time that I had one…

1. I go to school in Florida, so I’m not really experiencing any winter weather right now. What I’m looking forward to most about summer is definitely being home with my family. My mom and cousins are my best friends and I hate being halfway across the country and missing things!

2. This weekend I made peppermint mocha cookies for my friend! She loves them!

3. Heck yes I had a special blanket. I dragged it around until I was like… 12… then one day it disappeared. I still to this day wonder where the heck that blanket went.

4. UGH RENEE WAS MY FAVORITE TOO! She was so beautiful and such a sweetheart! I think she can do so much better than Juan Pablo though, so it’s actually good that she went home. I just felt so bad for her! At this point I would have to say that I’m rooting for Nikki. Fantasy suites tonight! Oh boy… I’m preparing myself for this train wreck to come…

Reply

If you are having calf problems, those flip flops probably arent the best thing to be wearing let alone scootering in. There are sandals out there that provide great support. Good luck healing.

Reply

Um, I just want to go to the beach! Even though I’m in MA, we still have a coastline and I will still head to it every weekend! I can’t wait! (I also have summers off so that is pretty nifty).

I don’t remember the last time I baked, my boyfriend does the baking. Fail.

Reply

BACHELOR prediction: He picks Nikki in the end and proposes but I’m having a hard time seeing them still together today. Guess we’ll have to wait and see on the After the Final Rose.

Also, I think that Clare will be the next Bachelorette :) The Bachelor is taking over my life.. I need a break haha two hours last night and another two tonight!

Reply

The last baked goods I made were chocolate cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies for our Super Bowl party. More importantly, the very next baked good I’m going to make is that cazookie you posted yesterday… O.M.G.

Reply

I love Cafe Rio! I used to go there every week when I was working for a client in SLC last year. It is the best! My last best treat I made was an almond butter smoothie sprinkled with granola. Yummy!

Reply

Looking forward to trail running this summer!
Hehe, and looks like you and your sister are doing scooter yoga. It’s gonna be a thing… and you girls are the pioneers!!

Reply

I love spring weather too! Amen to dressing the daughter cute so no one notices me & my gym outfits. hahahaha! SO true.

Cafe RIO!!! I need some. It’s been like 4 months! YIKES!

And your matching outfits rock. I need to do that with my sisters!

Reply

I loved Renee as well! So sad she is gone- everyone left is completely crazy!

Reply

Renee was my favorite as well.. those donuts look amazing.. and Brooke is the cutest with her blanket :)

Reply

I had a baby blanket! I still have it back at my parent’s house… I’m too sentimental to get rid of it :) I need to hunt down that donut mix like now.

Reply

I didn’t have a blanket when I was little but I did have a little stuffed puppy that I brought everywhere with me! Renee was my favorite too! So sad she left :(

Reply

This summer my husband and I will be moving (don’t know where yet, find out march 21) and we’ll also be going on a week long backpacking trip somewhere fun.

I baked a cake for my husband’s bday, from a box but used 4 eggs instead of 3, milk instead of water, and butter instead of oil and it was delicious. milk chocolate cake with milk chocolate icing. Yum!! :)

I had a quilt that my mom made for me… sadly I’m not sure where it is now. :(

I think the date night/days idea with Brooke is awesome!! Enjoy your time together!! :)

Reply

The girl that went home was my favorite as well :( Such a bummer, knew it was coming but she was such a keeper!

Reply

You and your sister look like you are doing synchronized scootering. You should totally choreograph a routine.

I am most looking forward to warmer weather and hopefully having defended my PhD an being finished with grad school finally!

I definitely had a blanket. It was like a mini quilt that my grandmother made, and I had a tiny pillow that had a pillowcase to match it that she made also. I think I still have it at my parents house.

Reply

I defininetly dress my daughter in cute clothes for the same reason! Ha ha! Here’s to doing some good good running over the weekend. How fun for y’all to do a date night every night. :)

Reply

I made valentine cookies and mailed them to my daughter in college. I had already sent a card so she was surprised. They were delicious.

Reply

The blanket thing is so funny! My daughter just recently decided she needs to carry a blanket around everywhere too! She is 2.5. She calls it her “baby blanket” even though its been collecting dust in the basement since she was born.

Reply

Those are the best oreos! I almost bought some the other day and decided I didn’t want them in the house because I would eat them all!

Reply

Everything is better with sprinkles! I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week with Brooke before this weekend!

Reply

The girl that went home was my husband’s favorite too!!! She was awesome. Which is why I’m happy she went home- she was way too good for JP. :) That twinning scooter photo of you and your sister is AMAZING.

Reply

I am definitely looking forward to the warm summer weather! Oh and I love the jackets that you and your sister got from Costco! I kind of want to go and get one for myself now :)

Reply

I had a stuffed bunny and still have her :)

Reply

I can’t wait for summer! The ice outside makes running nearly impossible for me! Chicago winters are pretty awful. I would trade all this treadmill running for a blazing hot summer run ANY DAY.

Reply

What are you most looking forward to about summer?
Definitely warmer weather and I’m going to my favorite place in Maine for July 4th weekend and doing a 5k on a beach. That should be fun.

Last baked good that you made? How was it? I made the Kneader’s Cookies from the recipe you posted and put some lemon icing on them. I brought them to work and they were a HUGE hit!

Did you have a special ‘blanket’ as a baby/kid? Yes, one that I called my “cozy.”

As a side comment about Oreos, I’m VERY particular about mine. I absolute love the mint ones. They are like the Girl Scout Thin Mints but not quite as overly-sweet. Of course the originals are up there on my list too. :)

Have you made (sorry about calling them this but that’s the name) Slutty Brownies from The Londoner? If not, you HAVE to make them!!! I’ve made them many, many times and they are absolutely to die for. How can you go wrong with brownie mix, chocolate chip cookie mix and Oreos?! Here’s the link: http://www.thelondoner.me/2011/06/slutty-brownies.html

Last things I baked were these cookies:

SO GOOD! :)

Reply

Last baked good: pumpkin oat power protein muffins, which include chocolate chips (that’s the power part). I need to make them again soon. They’re delicious.

Blanket, mine was blue, and named “blue blanket” it was adult sized, so it became part of my actual bed supplies in college. I honestly don’t know where it is now. That kind of makes me sad. I used to tie it around my neck and run around telling my family I was super Grover.

Reply

I checked my grocery store for Funfetti donuts (to make my BFF for her birthday) but no luck :( Looks like we’re sticking to good old-fashioned Funfetti cake for now. Your donuts sound pretty amazing though!

Reply

Janae!!! If you can’t run this weekend… Watch out. Things might get a little scary OVER HERE! lol… get better (plahhh-eeeez)!.

Reply

You and your sis should become a synchronized scootering team and petition the Olympics to add that sport to the program!

Reply

I’m looking forward to taking some long weekends to go to my boyfriend’s family lake house, spending more time outside and generally having more hours of daylight in the summer time!

I had a Garfield comforter when I was a kid that I took from my older brother – it was the best blanket ever!

Reply

oh honey, my kiddo will be home recovering after surgery this weekend, as long as he is healthy enough this time, you can come on over ;)

Reply

My favorite part about summer is definitely nights by the pool and 4th of July! I could spend every day of my life lounging by the water! Too bad there’s the grown up stuff like work and bills to keep me from doing that :(

Reply

Those Oreos look so good! The last baked good I made – chocolate cake with chocolate fudge frosting over the weekend.

Reply

Last bit of deliciousness I made was a blueberry-blackberry pie (homemade crust…not to brag or anything).
And I watched the Juan Pablo massacre that is the bachelor. I’m sad about who went home last night too. She was my favorite, but she took it like a champ!

Reply

I love using scoot as a verb.

Reply

I am looking forward to spring/summer to be able to run outdoors again and take my daughter for walks to the park.
I did watch Bachelor…too much. I also always wonder why they never seem to be eating the food that is placed out. It always looks so delicious and pretty, but goes untouched!!! What is up with that?!?

Reply

I can’t wait for summer for warm weather and vacations! The last thing I baked was chocolate sugar cookies. I had a doll that I was really attached to when I was little but I lost her in a grocery store…my parent say I was devastated.

Reply

Have you tried the cookie dough oreos? Or the marshmallow krispy oreos? I liked the marshmallow ones!

Reply

i made flourless peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for my fam when i was home last weekend and they devoured the entire batch that afternoon. needless to say, it was probably one of the better “from scratch” things i’ve ever made and i’m planning to make them again this wknd!
