Just pondering the meaning of life.

Seeing Brooke run around in the snow with a big smile on her face makes me really like the snow.

Oh, ya know…  Just pondering the meaning of life.

IMG 6573

My sister-in-law (the one that I was best friends with many years ago and then I set her up with my brother and then they lived happily ever after) is here to visit for two weeks.  It was my first time meeting their little girl.  There is just something about holding a little baby that feels so good.

IMG 6571

I am liking my new book a lot already.  Blankets and peanut butter m&ms during Brooke’s nap time make it that much better.

IMG 6570

Once Brooke went down to bed (she goes to bed at 7 now… she plays hard all day and can’t keep her eyes open past 7) I drove up to SLC to meet up with a group of friends for dinner at CousCous Mediterranean Grill.  Utah people–>  you absolutely have to try this place.  Everything was incredible.

I had the gourmet pita with steak and chicken.

IMG 6569

Secret Life of Walter Mitty.  GO SEE THIS MOVIE.  It made me want to travel the world.  I love Ben Stiller so very much.  The ending gave me the biggest goosebumps.  The fact that I stayed awake for the whole movie proves that it must have been really good.  9:45 is usually my bed time.

Kettle corn and DC for the win.

IMG 6568

And my mom gave this to me yesterday. Yes and yes!  Move forward!

Everyone knows that PB M&Ms are the best!

I’m looking forward to meeting my friend’s new baby this weekend!

I’m a peanut butter girl but I might have to try coconut! Who knew? My one year old goes down at 6:00 and my four year old at 8:00. It is fantastic! Haha! Hoping to throw together a garage sale this weekend…declutter after Christmas!

My 13 month old goes to bed between 7 and 7:30. This routine works best for us. Let’s her get the sleep she needs and me the mommy time I need.

This weekend I want to clean and organize my house. An early spring cleaning! I’m also looking forward to my long run of 12 miles!
The best part of any day is time with my nugget. Ps Brooke is soo adorable.

Reply

Well, during the first trimester my bed time was 7:30 haha. Not even joking! Now it’s more like 9 something. My favorite m&m’s switch between peanut and peanut butter… Probably peanut :-)

Reply

Personally I find the meaning of life to be coffee, cats and runderwear. I kid of course. Brooke looks like she is enjoying the snow more then anyone else I’ve seen. Maybe she should get a twitter/Facebook and post her positive weather photos LOL. (Not like Lolz is enjoying this weather either).

I’m looking to running a 5k. I’m so ready to get back into shape and not focus on another marathon. I hope you have a swell weekend filled with LOLZ.

Love that quote! I love peanut m&m’s the best… they are actually one of my favourite snacks! This weekend I am looking forward to some time with friends/family/boyfriend!

Reply

1. Swimming, working on a crafty heart project, and making clam chili is what I’m looking forward to… beyond the most important parts- sharing time with family and doing laundry of course :-)

2. Plain or PB M&Ms, please.

3. Susanna’s in bed depending on her day.. 6-8.

Reply

Seven is a nice bedtime!
I love the mint m&m’s, but I’ve never seen them in Canada so I have to hoard them when I go to the states!
It’s my 30th birthday this weekend, so I’m looking forward to the celebrations!
Happy Friday!

Annabelle’s first birthday party is tomorrow!!!!

My first true love is peanut M&Ms. I also have a good relationship with the pretzel ones. :)

7 pm, wow! Annabelle has started being a night owl and fights going to sleep…I think we got her to sleep around 9 last night.

Reply

I’m looking forward to seeing my brother one last time before he heads back to South Korea for another year! We’re going to run together and then have dinner with my parents. :)

Reply

Dark chocolate mint m&ms are the best. I can’t get enough! Most exciting thing about this weekend is finally relaxing after such a crazy week! And I’m psyched for my first double digit run tomorrow!!

Reply

I am looking forward to warmer weather this weekend! Going to be in the forties tomorrow and the fifties on Sunday.

Peanut butter are my favorite M&M’s! Peanut M&M’s are second.

My 16 & 12 both go to bed at 9:00 PM. They need their sleep!

Reply

Kids are so cute when they are bundled and playing in the snow!

I am most looking forward to my ten mile training run this weekend, not necessarily because I feel ready to run ten miles after a running hiatus, but because it is finally warm enough in Chicago to run outside! I have been logging miles on the treadmill and enough is enough. Bring on the warm(er) weather! :)

Favorite m&m are the plain ones…I’m kind of plain like that ;)

Have a great start to your weekend!!

Reply

I read that book and really enjoyed it! But now I often think of it when I am in spin class ;)

Reply

Looking forward to sleeping in on Sunday – no long run for this girl thanks to my IT band! M&M = almond and pretzel.

Dinner looks fabulous! I think you convinced me to go see that movie. And I absolutely love the plaque your mom gave you.

Reply

I’m finally seeing Frozen tonight!! Dinner looks so good as always ;)

Reply

it’s a toss up between peanut m&m’s and the regular ones. I’m looking forward to catching up with a friend I haven’t seen in awhile this weekend.

Reply

Went to see Secret Life of Walter Mitty as a spontaneous treat a few nights ago. Incredible! LOVE the Benjamin Button bit, how inspiring and cute the film is, but how there’s hilarious interludes.

Deinitely Peanut Butter! We don’t get them over here that I know of (England) but when I did a Western USA Roadtrip I came across them, now whenever I visit USA I come home with loads of packets of them!

Reply

I went and saw that movie last night too. I loved it. It also made me want to travel. You need to come to Layton and go the AMC theaters they have recliners!!! Brooke looks so cute and grown up. I love reading your blog every morning.

Reply

Loved that movie too!! Great quote for the day. Stay strong!

Reply

I love pretzel m&ms! That crunch! But I’ve never tried coconut…I’m intrigued!!

Reply

Mmmm that pita looks delicious!

PB m&m’s are my favorite, but I can’t eat a lot of them at once on their own. I have to put them on top of ice cream or froyo. My second face are the pretzel ones and my third fave are the peanut ones and those I can eat handfuls of all on their own. In fact, I loooove bringing peanut m&m’s on long runs. They get a little melty/messy in the little ziplock bag I put them in, but it’s all good :)

Reply

I have always been strict about bedtime because I am a morning person and cannot deal with being up late with kids lol…That being said, when my son was little and learned that he had no choice but to go to sleep in the crib, he was on the 6:00 – 7:00 pm bed time schedule. Now he is much older but I insist that he goes to his room between 8:00-8:30 – when he actually goes to sleep I don’t really know, all I know is that’s the end of my night. lol…m&m’s? Hmm. I always loved the peanut butter, crisp and plain.

Reply

PEANUT PUTTER m&m’s are my favorite candy!!!! :)!
My girls go to bed at 9ish on weekdays :). Ish means I do my very best to have them in bed at 9 and then have them read for 15 minutes. They don’t have to get up as early as some kids do though….they get up about 7:45.

Reply

Date night tonight at a restaurant we’ve never been to…I’m so excited!! :)

Brooke has the sweetest face :)

Reply

I love peanut butter, normal, and pretzel M&Ms!

Oh yay, I’m so happy you said this movie was good!! My husband wants to see it so badly and I definitely do too, but we were sort of putting it off but now I will definitely go see it!!

Reply

A good book, chocolate, and a blanket is my idea of perfection… especially in the winter when the days are colder and darker. I’m reading The Fault In Our Stars right now, and it’s sucked me in so bad that I’ve been staying up WAY past my bedtime because I can’t put it down…

Happy Friday, Janae!

Reply

I am planning on a 12 miler in the misty ol rain. Should be worth the torture though to catch up with friends :)

pretzel m&ms for the win!

I really want to see that movie as well! Brooke, once again is just so cute!
This weekend I am looking forward to traveling to Florida and running the Walt Disney World Marathon! I love the dark chocolate M&M’s. My father-in-law works for the company so I am always getting these, it is really dangerous! Have a great weekend!

Reply

Im looking forward to warmer weather!! I think I want to go running :) I have thoroughly enjoyed being snowed in though!

This is random but wonderful: When I saw the forecast for the weeks weather (snow, -45 windchill etc) I was just excited. Once upon a time I would have been anxious about squeezing runs in etc but I have finally overcome my exercise addiction and 5 or 6 (or maybe more?? I honestly dont remember when I last went….) days without running (I never go to the gym and dont have a treadmill) have passed without any stress or regrets :)

Reply

I do like the PB m&ms, but the coconut were also pretty good! I’m excited for this weekend but no big plans yet… hmmm gotta figure out something fun to do! :)

Reply

Definitely agree that peanut butter m&ms win!! My 2.5 year old son goes to bed between 7-7:30 pm. But I think he wakes up a little earlier than Brooke…more like 6 AM. Anytime we try to move his bedtime later he just wakes up earlier. He still takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoon, too.

I’m looking forward to my niece’s 3rd birthday party this weekend!

Reply

Yay for snow and good movies!! I’m looking forward to getting some pictures done for my Pilates Series, and hoping it will rain so I can just cuddle and not feel bad about watching movies all day with the boyfriend. Ugh, I love too many haha I love the mint one probably the best though, then coconut, then pretzel and peanut butter (combine them!).

Reply

I’m looking forward to game night Saturday – I can’t play cards against humanity enough! And sleeping in Sunday. Because I love sleep so, so much.

My favorite m&ms are seasonal. White chocolate candy corn and cherry cordial. I truly live a tortured life, and I am now suffering without them.

PB M&Ms are hands down the most delicious treat ever :)

props to you for staying up that late… i’ve been in bed everyday before 9 this week.

I haven’t been to a movie in over a year. Wow, I need to get out!
If I could get my twins in bed at 7 I would do a cartwheel! They still take a nap and they just aren’t tired enough at 7. The day they stop napping will be a sad, sad day haha!

Reply

This weekend I am just looking forward to relaxing and having time away from work! It’s supposed to be pouring rain all day tomorrow, so I’m not looking forward to my long run as much as usual…but running is running and I will be glad to be out there!

temps this weekend will be in the 30s after being near zero for most of the week – walking the dog and playing frisbee with him are two things I’ve been looking forward to all week – along with getting some supplies for a painting project I’m going to try to attempt for our basement reno – wish me luck on this one!!

dark chocolate/peanut M&Ms are my most favorite M&Ms ever – followed by regular dark chocolate!

Reply

Peanut butter M&Ms and a good book are a deadly combination! My 20 m/o goes down between 7:30/7:45, and my 4 y/o follows around 8/8:15. Some nights I’m so exhausted I’m dozing off on the couch by 8:45!! Yep, wild and crazy nights!!

I am looking forward to taking the day off and watching all 3 kids receive an award from school today and tonight is date night!
I am an equal opportunity enjoyer of all M&Ms.
My kids go to bed at 7 and the 6 & 8 year old read until 7:30 and the 9 year old reads until 8. On weekends I usually let them stay up until 8.

I’ve been wanting to see that movie! Definitely have to talk the hubby into going to see it this weekend :)

My favorite are the peanut butter egg M&Ms that are only available at Easter time. Looking forward to the Seahawks football game. My kids go to bed around 8 pm, the real challenge is them staying asleep.

Reply

I’m looking forward to date night…finally getting to see Catching Fire! And then my cousin’s baby shower tomorrow.

I’m a PB M&Ms fan too, although I don’t eat them much anymore. Darn lactose intolerance.

Our kids are in the bath by 7:30 and in bed by 8. We have a 4yo and a 6yo.

Reply

Ever since my 1 year old started walking (more like running) she cannot keep her eyes open past 7 either. Im mean and force her to stay up otherwise she wakes up at 5 when I’m trying to get my workout in.

Ps. U should do a post on how u get up and running so early in the morning. I always have good intentions to do it but then I end up being mad at my alarm clock and ignoring it lol.

Reply

Agreed on that movie choice. Best best best. We saw it on New Years Eve for the late show and wished we’d gone earlier so we could sit through it twice it made me so happy. What a great experience.

Reply

And yes…the book really was great.

If you’re really looking for the meaning of life, I have a book recommendation after you finish your current read! “The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For?” by Rick Warren. I read it a few years ago and it was awesome and truly life changing.

As for my son’s bedtime, he’s 10-months-old and goes to bed at 7:30 or 8 pm. Maybe that’s super early… I don’t know! Works for us :) I’m looking forward to time with my parents and youngest brother this weekend while my husband is at drill!

ANY M&M’s are good with me! As long as they contain some sort of chocolate :)

Reply

Your pictures of Brooke are adorable, as are her little leggings!

I so wish I could come to Utah and try all of these fabulous places you write about. Maybe some day I’ll take a ski trip out that way.

I have to work this weekend, and the overnight shift. What a shame. :(

Reply

Pretzel M&Ms are my favourite…I can’t remember the last time I had them though! I should probably get on that soon….PB are my second-favourite though ;-)

Reply

Peanut M&Ms are definitely my favorite, and I’m dying to see that movie!

My 2 yr old goes to bed at 8:30, wakes up around 7:30 and takes one 1-2 hour nap a day. I LOVE nap time!!

Looking forward to this Sunday running the SF hot chocolate 15k. Who wouldn’t want to run and then get hot chocolate and fondue?!!!

I really want to see that movie, I’m glad you liked it. I need to get out to the movies more!

I am most looking forward to a “Mom & Baby” coffee meet up I set up with some girlfriends! It is rare you can get many moms with babies under 1 together because everyone’s schedules are so crazy, so I thought a mid-morning time would work…and it did. YA

Reply

Peanut Butter M&M’s all the way!!!

Reply

I love your mom. Can I adopt her?

When my kids were little like Brooke they went to bed around 7-7:30 and took a 2-3-hr nap in the afternoon. They all pretty much quit napping by 2, which was painful at first, and went to bed at 6:30, which was a beautiful thing. They are such different ages now…bedtimes span from 7:30-10.

Reply

Looking forward to being off work tomorrow first Saturay I have been off in a long time.
LOVE the regular m&m’s I like others but the regular will always be my fav.
My kids have been going to bed around 8 some nights later (if I want to sleep in the next morning)

Most looking forward to this weekend- running outside!!! (it’s finally a Real Feel temp of 20’s here in Iowa) and my fave sausage and sauerkraut pizza

Mint and Coconut m&m’s for sure are my fave

I absolutely adore how you dress Brooke, always adorable!

Reply

Peanut butter m&ms are the best! Hands down my favourite… Maybe even my favourite candy ever!

You should do a post of your favourite books because you always have so many interesting ones and then I forget what they are by the time I finish the one I’m on haha.

And the Secret life of Walter Mitty was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time!

Reply

Pretzel m&ms… always and forever :)

Reply

I thought that was a flashback to Brook when she was a baby….they definitely look alike.

M&M any thing…put I do like the peanut butter and pretzel ones the best these days!

My kids (all of them…16,14, and 10) are in bed by 8:30 or close to it and then I tell them they can read or listen to their music but lights out by 9PM for sure. 10 year old makes it about 2 minutes and he falls asleep (he too goes and goes) the girls definitely ask for later sometimes, especially when at a “good part” in their book, but then fall asleep shortly after.

This weekend we are finalizing what we need to pack for DISNEY…we leave on the 15th!!!

Reply

I’ve been wondering about that movie, thanks for the review!

Brooke – it does not get any cuter then that girl. She needs to marry one of my kids. What kind of dowry do you have for her? ;)

PB m&ms are my fave :) I’m looking forward to going to a good restaurant with my family this weekend!

Love the plaque your mom gave you!

I’m most looking forward to going out to dinner tonight with friends to check out a restaurant to see if it will be a good place for our son and his fiancé’s rehearsal dinner. August will be here before we know it! :-)

Reply

A Mediterranean restaurant I have not tried??? Yep. I am putting that place on my list of places to try for sure. That pita looks amazing!

My kids are in bed between 8 and 8:30. 7 is awesome though! Go Brooke. She looks adorable out playing in the anow. Then again, she always does.

Peanut m&m’s. Then peanut butter. Then pretzel. Although I wish they still made the peanut butter and jelly ones because they trumped them all. Did you ever try those ones?

That plaque is perfecto. Well done mom!!

Reply

Brooke looks so cute in that little Northface! Makes me want a little nugget of my own just so I can buy little tiny clothes for them! Anyhoo, I’m looking most forward to catching up on housework and rest so I can rest comfortably! My favorite kind of M&M is the pretzel kind – the best candy from a nutrition standpoint. But did you know that they make almond M&Ms? My little sister introduced me to them!

Reply

PB M&Ms are the best things to ever enter the food system ;) Also- so weirdly cool that your best friend married your brother! I feel like that’s a movie or something!

Reply

I’m looking forward to having my girl’s date with one of my best runner friends, and we’re doing non-running activities! Pedis/manis followed by wine. I feel bad for the poor nail technicians who have to touch our feet!

I’m also excited to pick the winner of my Garmin Giveaway on Sunday night!

Reply

What a perfect day! And I happen to have a fandango gift card might have to see that movie soon. My 5 and 8 year old sons school night go to bed by 8pm. My 2 year old daughter is a late owl like 9 some nights. I may have to take away her nap so she will sleep earlier. Looking forward to watching my sons basketball games! They are so cute and my 8 year old is on a scoring streak meaning he’s made at least 1 basket per game.

Reply

I really wanted to see that! Is it a happy ending or an ending that makes you think? I wasn’t sure if it would turn out to be quite depressing at the end as my mum told me the original film was pretty sad! Oh, and definitely peanut M&Ms for me!

Reply

I am looking forward to some (slightly) warmer weather this weekend so I can run outside and not freeze!

And I am all about peanut butter M&Ms…although I haven’t had any in awhile…and now I really want some.

Finally, I know you asked about children, but my bedtime is 9:30. Because I am 27 years old going on 80 apparently.

Reply

Peanut butter M&M’s are hands down the best. Then peanut M&M’s.

And I love this sign :)

did you get to try the white chocolate candy corn M&M’s. They are AMAZING and totally my favorite.

Reply

Is it just me or does your SIL’S baby look just like Brooke?! Too cute. I love coconut m&m’s but that might just be because we don’t have them in Canada so they are like a treat when we go up to the States. The pretzel are delicious as well!

Reply

I’m really looking forward to the plumber coming tomorrow to fix my sink and put a brand new faucet on! =)
I LOVE Peanut M&M’s (yellow bag…classic) But lately have really started liking peanut butter m&ms AND the pretzel ones. Funny, I’m a dark chocolate girl usually but I DON’t Like the dark chocolate M&M’s….

I’ve wanted to see that movie. Glad to hear it’s good! My fav mnm’s are coconut. Love them. My one-year-old goes to bed between 8-8:30. Lights out for the 6 and 9-year-old at 9, but they usually stay up talking for a bit.

Reply

I am most looking forward to seeing the musical, Once, this weekend.

I didn’t know coconut M&M’s existed! Must try them. I don’t like peanut M&M’s (I like peanuts but only in peanut butter form…) and I feel like I’m cheating on Reeses Pieces if I eat the peanut butter M&M’s . Ha. So plain M&M’s for me :)

Happy Friday!

looking forward to riding my bike with two really good friends tomorrow. hoping rain stays away

peanut m&m’s…not even close

hey, dad’s can answer this too. My 5 and 7 year old go to bed by 8p

Reply

The best m&ms are peanut. My daughters go to bed at 8, but the older one will probably get to stay up later soon. I am most looking forward to watching the Patriots game with friends Saturday. On an unrelated note, I tried your grilled cheese with jam on it for myself and my 2 year old, and we loved it! I’ll never go back.

Reply

PB M&Ms for the win. :)

Reply

I prefer my M&Ms in cookies or ice cream. Alone I can take them or leave them.

My 2 youngest kiddos (ages 3 & 5) start getting ready for bed at 8. Max (the 5 yo) is usually still awake past 10. Ugh…

My 2 oldest (12 yo twins in 7th grade) don’t have a bedtime and I stopped taking their iphones/ipads (yes, I know… they are spoiled)away in the evenings this year. As long as they are quiet past a certain time at night and get up in the morning for school I don’t care when they go to bed. No problems so far. They learned pretty quickly how important sleep is after only a few late nighters ;)

Reply

I am looking forward to visiting my family! It is kind of a spur of the moment trip, and I am really excited to see them again so soon :) Peanut butter M&Ms are definitely my fave! I haven’t tried coconut, pretzel, or mint though so apparently I need to try those too haha!

Reply

That movie does look pretty good!

And that sign is AWESOME!! Your mom is a smart woman.

Reply

Anything with peanuts or peanut butter is my favorite (especially combined with chocolate!)

I’ve seen a lot of movies lately (one of my very favorite things to do). Walter Mitty got 4 thumbs up from me and my daughter. Have you seen the Book Thief? You’d probably have to find a second-run theater to see it now, but definitely see it. And I think everybody’s seen Frozen by now. If not, there’s something seriously wrong. :)

This weekend I have my last long run before my marathon in NOLA, then a lot of football watching. Go Seahawks!

Reply

My 3 year old goes to bed at 8 (8:30 on the weekends) but we start the routine now that he’s potty trained (yay!) and we have to add that to the night time routine. My younger one (15 months) goes to bed anywhere between 7 and 7:30. As much as I love them, I love when they’re both in bed too. It’s so quiet and awesome knowing that they’re fast asleep because they were worn out all day long!

Reply

i’m most looking forward to spending time with family and hopefully getting coffee with a friend :)

peanut butter M&Ms all the way!

Relaxing!!!! Ya work for that weekend! :)

PB M&Ms for sure, though I’ve never tried the coconut ones!

I loved Walter Mitty!!!! It was one of those feel good movies that made me want to be bold and do crazy never-look-back things.

Brooke and her cous look a little alike! So cute. Holding babies is dangerous, I want one for like 10 mins before thinking nah not yet ;)

I am looking forward to my run tomorrow. I haven’t run over 60 minutes since I pulled a hamstring at Hobble Creek half in August. It got better quick but I got lazy and just took a good running break, running only 30-40 minutes a day. So tomorrow, I am going to do a 90 minute run. It’s going to bring me JOY and I am going to sing out loud to my music, smile, speed up, get my heart rate going and enjoy. :) Oh, we are doing cheese fondue at our house with our next door neighbors/friends. Looking forward to eating that tastiness!

I adore peanut butter M&M’s. It’s because I am just so in love with PB.

I am Mom to 4 (yes I am to young to have 4 kids) My two oldest go to bed by 9 or 9:30. My two youngest go to bed by 8. I love a quiet house at night. With a book. Or downton Abbey. I am an early snoozer to btw. 9 pm I am usually in bed and by 10 asleep. Grandma :)

Peanut m&m’s are usually my first choice.

I’m really looking forward to sleeping in this weekend. The 5:30am weekday alarm gets old. I also might go to Target and spend some money I don’t need to spend on things I don’t actually need. Target has that affect on me.

I haven’t seen the new version, but I used to LOVE the old “secret life of walter mitty”!

Brooke is the most photogenic child I have ever seen! She’s so beautiful! I wish I could be that happy about snow. I like snow on movies and in pictures with adorable babies smiling. You look pretty happy as well, and that’s a really good thing!

I love the plaque! Brooke looks so serious in her playing picture – pondering the meaning of life must be what wears her out by 7 ;)

I’m sorry but let’s skip to the most important question for YOU ever: Have you tried the new red velvet m&ms?!? I consider myself somewhat of an m&m expert and these will change your life!
Otherwise, I loveee the pretzel ones.

I was eating peanut butter m&m’s last night while I was reading my book. There’s nothing better than a good book and some peanut butter and chocolate. My daughter goes to bed at 9:00 on school nights, and on the weekends she stays up all hours. She’s my little 11 year old night owl.
