How many miles did you run last year?

It happens every year.  I make a goal to keep track of each mile that I run so that I can add them all up at the end of the year.

I make it until January 17thish before forgetting all about my goal.  Maybe 2014 will be the year that I keep track of my mileage.  Maybe.

Our New Year’s morning run was a success.  We went running a little later in the morning which was great because it got really warm which is good for the soul.

What do you think—>  are we attempting squats or a jumping picture.   We all need to just stick to running.

IMG 6286

Our beautiful trail and today we had especially deep conversations (aka therapy) and it was just what we all needed.  14 miles at a little under than an 8 minute mile average.

2014 really is already starting off pretty good.

I took two photos of my New Year’s Eve.

Indian food for dinner with some friends.

IMG 6260

After dinner I went to my sister’s house and then with some of my California friends up to Salt Lake to celebrate and dance (great cardio;).  There was also a trip to Snowbird (a ski resort) and a late night snack at a Mexican restaurant that is open 24 hours a day.  I need a nap really bad.

Raise your hand if you miss Brookers!?!  A pic that I took last week:)

My mileage goal for 2014 is to make it as long as I can healthily in this pregnancy! Day 1 went well with a friend (who is 36 weeks!) Very cute Brooke pic :)

You really should keep track of your mileage – it’s so fun, and I bet you’d feel so accomplished when you do, because of your amazing mileage! I don’t really set a yearly goal since I want to make sure to listen to my body, but once it gets close to the end of the year, I fiddle around with numbers to be sure I land on a “fun” total! This year, I made it exactly 2000 miles!

Reply

I ran 615 miles last year! (I took about 3 months completely off after my wedding in April.) I used map my run to keep track for most of the year, but I switched between Garmin and Nike The past few months trying to find a better one.

Reply

I know I ran 9ish on the 1st or 2nd of January and maybe a few more that month…so, no, I don’t know …and it was only like 20 for the YEAR. My conservative goal is ONE mile. My “reach” goal is 100. Yes, for the year :) Let’s have an amazingly enjoyable 2014 :)

Reply

I ran 374 miles, but more than that… I kept running. I always try to start running in the spring and quit during the simmer but this year, even tho I took a hiatus, I came back and kept running til the end of 2013… Yay me! I used dailymile to keep track.

Mileage goal – 500. Or, at the very least, to keep running all year long for the first time ever!

Huge Indian food fan, my dad was technically born there. Chicken Tikka Masala is my absolute fave.

Reply

I did not keep very good track of my miles in 2013. sad face. I plan to this year, and I have a spreadsheet in google docs that I started logging my runs onto starting on Thanksgiving (when I started the RW Holiday Streak Challenge). I also log everything into the RunMeter App on my phone.

I’m sure I could figure out my mileage for last year, by looking at both RunMeter app and the Garmin Connect website. Maybe I’ll do that later if I’m bored enough… ;)

Me! I miss Brookers!

I hit 1,240 this year, which was almost double last year. I have a Nike GPS and use the Nike + on my iPod to track treadmill runs, so it keeps track of my mileage for me. I would write it down or keep a journal if it wasn’t so easy to just plug stuff in and have it saved online :) It would be a lot of adding and work to do by hand…haha. I thought about setting a mileage goal for 2014, but I decided to just pray for healthy miles and healthy races. I got hurt and couldn’t run a marathon last year, so that is my number one goal! Everything else is just icing on the cake :)

Reply

I was sooooo good at tracking my mileage through April and then it all fell apart. I always forget to add my mileage from treadmill runs! I use Garmin Connect to track my outdoor runs :) Before I got my Garmin I used to use RunKeeper.

Reply

Best estimate is about 220 miles. I started running on July 29th using c25k app.

Now I use mapmyrun. I need to add the two together for an exact mileage. And I will cuz I’m a numbers freak. Goal for 2014: 1000 miles.

Looks like you had a great run today! I had to force myself to do 3.5…snowy and bitter cold in Oh-Hi-O.

Not really a fan of Indian food, but your late night Mexican stop is just my thang.;)

Reply

Ya. I never keep track. Not sure that I will. I realize that this makes me sound Jr High ish, but I know that if I keep track I will only feel I ferior/less than than all the other peeps who run thousands of miles a year. Am I happy for them? Yep. Impressed? Most definitely. But I don’t think I will ever do it.

Tikka Massala, basmati rice and naan (all together) is probably my favorite Indian dish. I make a pretty good version, if I do say so myself. You should come over sometime and I will make it!

Your run looks fabulous. And so does the jump picture. Lol. Love all you girls. So many awesome people in that picture. Your night sounds crazy busy. I didn’t even make it to midnight. Ross and the kids did though…and I still might take a nap today ;)

Reply

My jumping pictures always turn out like that too haha! I looove Indian food. Channa Masala is my fave! And Chickent Tikka Misala. Mmmmm. I write all of my workouts in my planner each day! Great and easy way to keep track, especially since that thing is like my life. If it’s not in there- I didn’t do it.

I ran 906 in 2013 and am hoping to hit 1,000 in 2014! This past year was my first at keeping track of my mileage and I loved it!

I didn’t keep track of miles until just recently. I hope to run 1000 miles next year. I’m going to track it monthly to make sure I stay on track.
That picture of Brooke’s is too cute for words! I’m sure you miss her like crazy.
I love love Indian food. The best is the bread of course. I love all types of nann. I also love chicken tiki masala. YUMMO!!!
Happy New Year!

Yes, we all miss Brooke! :-)

I calculated that I ran just over 1,400 miles. It was a pretty good year, and I’m not complaining! I record my miles on RunKeeper.

I’m terrible at keeping track of my mileage — whoops!

What a sweet pic of Brooke! Too cute :)

Reply

I’ve never kept track of mine either but I signed up for Running Ahead so I can do it this year :) all your pictures make me want to move to Utah every single time you post. Sigh.

Reply

I have never kept track but this is a great idea and I want to this year! I miss Brooke and I haven’t even met her!

Reply

Happy New Year, Janae! You’ve made it through smiling and running, hang in there!
This website, http://www.running-log.com/, has a very user-friendly online workout log, if you haven’t already come across it (but you probably know it’s not always the number of miles that ultimately counts). Brooke will be so happy to be home with you!

Reply

I think I ran about 1600 miles last year and I only know that because I’m on daily mile and it helps me remember it. I don’t have any goal mileage for 2014 though… I just want to run when I want to, how far I want to, and enjoy the miles instead of doing them just to get them done! I would have LOVED to do 14 miles for 2014 today- that is such a fun idea :)

Reply

This year I ran 1,883 miles including about a month off of accumulated rest days. Unfortunately for Christmas I gave myself a stress fracture in my tibia so I haven’t really thought about running goals. I have a spiral book from Barnes and Noble that is specifically for keeping track of runs weekly. My husband ran in college and averaged about 4,000 miles per year

Reply

My favorite Indian dish is palak paneer, but butter chicken is pretty great, too. And any of the breads… naan, parathas, chapati…

I ran 680 in 2013 — a few really strong months and a few that fell totally flat. I’m going to aim for 850 in 2014 with 1,000 as my stretch goal. I track all of my workouts on DailyMile. It’s so easy and who doesn’t want to know how many donuts they’ve burned (1,053)?!

Can’t wait to see what you accomplish this year!

Reply

No mileage goals for this year – baby due at the end of May. Hoping to be able to pull off a 5k PR by the end of the year – maybe?

Fav Indian dish by far is Chili Chicken- that’s what I had last night!

Happy New Year!

Reply

I ran 3283 this year and hope to be around the same next year. Honestly if all my miles are injury free again I’ll have no complainants again. You had such a great year of running as well Janae and I cannot wait to see how 2014 treats you. Both of us are going sub 3 hour marathons…glad I made that goal for you too. ;)

Reply

I love Indian food – my favorite is butter chicken.

Reply

I ran 1275 this last year and I keep track on a phone app called Running Log. I battle Achilles tendonosis and have some knee issues so that will determine how many miles I will be able to run this year. I cut back to four days a week to give myself more recovery time. I turned 65 yesterday but in my mind, I’m a 25 year old. I refuse to grow up :)

Reply

1275 miles with achilles tendonitis! How do you do it? I’ve struggled with boats of it 3 times in the last year & a half & have had to cut back my running to almost nothing. Any advice? Tips on how you are dealing with it? Thanks!!

Reply

I’m terrible at keeping track of my mileage. My best guess from runs with my Garmin is at least 170 miles. I know there were runs without it and I spent the first half of the year doing more roller derby than running.

I don’t have any mileage goals for this year, I just want to be consistent with my running. I’m really bad about getting busy/lazy and taking breaks from running. I love it so much when I’m consistent, I just need to work at it.

Reply

Hahahaha January 17th! I don’t even think I would make it that long counting. I think it would be cool to run 2014 miles in 2014 but that might be a little high.. who knows!

Reply

Yum! It has been too long since I have had Indian food. I need to change that!

I only made it 216 miles this year. Less than half my goal. I’m aiming for 500 this year!

Reply

Your running scenery is so beautiful. :-) I really want to keep track of my miles this year too. Happy new year!

Reply

I use the app MayMyRun and they emailed me saying I ran a little over 1,500 miles in 2013. The only problem with it is I didn’t log treadmill runs so I guess I ran somewhere well over that amount. Either way, I am proud of all those miles! Using the app makes it easy to track things since it keeps it recorded for me.

Reply

I ran 740 miles approximately last year. That doesn’t include treadmill runs.
Goal for 2014 is 1000 miles.

So glad you had a great night!

Reply

On my 14 mile run this morning, I was actually thinking about keeping track of my miles for the year. I’m going to see if there is an app or something, so that I could just enter it on my phone…. I’ve always got it with me. Glad that you had a fun evening! Hope Brooke will be back home very soon!

Reply

Love reading your blog. I’m not usually one to comment, but over Christmas my husband saw you at the mall. He called and said, “guess who I just saw?” Your a celebrity at our house. Ha Ha We are always trying the food places you recommend in Provo, we love the sweet potato fries at Guru’s now.

Reply

I am just like you! I tell myself every year I am going to keep track – I have attempted to do it again hopefully like you I will remember it in 2014!

Glad you got in a great run! Happy New Year!

Reply

I track my workouts with Daily Mile. Someone already mentioned it but I thought I’d give it another Thumbs Up! Super easy to navigate, you can use the iphone app. , and find other runners in your area. I ran 868 miles in 2013 and burned 522 doughnuts… According to Daily Mile that is!
2014 is going to be a good one!

Reply

I always say I’m going to keep up, but I don’t. And I switch around between different apps so that doesn’t help either. I’m not the most organized person for sure!
(I raised my hand)

Reply

I only ran 445 miles this year. Injury, what can you do right? I keep track of my miles in a journal and daily mile. I don’t have a mileage goal I just want to be injury free and complete all my training runs.

Reply

What a great run! I have decoded that I need more running friends like you. Seriously. Group runs just sound so fun and therapeutic..none of my friends like Running…. NONE!!!

I always keep track of my runs with my Runkeeper app..I just got my very first Garmin for Christmas and I’m still using my Runkeeper app so that I never forget to log them…
Ok…ready???
Last year….
I ran….
Wait for it…
2,783 miles!!!!!!!!!!!! That ‘ish cray!! :)

My goal(s) for 2014 are all running related:
-break 3:30 in a marathon (and then after that I can consider myself at your level, ;) )
– run 14 half marathons and marathons in 2014! I’m already registered for 2 marathons (Boston is one of them), one1/2, and one 20 miler

Reply

I ran 445 miles last year. Not as many as I wanted, but I’m satisfied with that number :) I kept track of them in a little notebook!

Reply

I ran 342 miles this year. I only run 2-3x per week and then cross train with biking + swimming. I had to take about 8 weeks off this year because I got a cortisone injection into my hamstring then worked in PT to strengthen other muscles. I will make my goal for 2014 be 500 miles, but most importantly I want to stay healthy, injury free and keep my running fun! Great job with a 14 mile run today. Perfect way to start the year.

Reply

I kept track of the groups mileage in December and posted it for everyone to see…it made quite the impact and will do it again for January!

I bet it was a blast to run with all your friends!

Reply

My total running miles for 2013 = 1,967 (does not include all the miles I put on my mountain bike).
I keep track in a daily journal with a spread sheet in the front to track my weekly total. It keeps me motivated. Plus, it’s where I have my daily todo list and meal/food record. Keeps me honest this way. I’ve been keeping track for 2 years and it works!

No mileage goals for 2014.. I just want to run at least 4 to 6 miles a day or more. Plus do a lot of cross training, with biking, skiing, swimming and resistance training. I’m going for more all over fit then a number. It is fun to add it all up at the end of the year.

Indian food is okay.. I don’t eat it often so not sure what I like??? Rice..

Reply

I ran 3,480 miles in 2013. A little less than 2012, but since I was injured for a few months in the middle, I am pretty happy with it. :) I am tapering now for the Houston Marathon. I keep track of my mileage on a google spreadsheet that I share with my coach.

I am so jealous of your running group! It gets lonely training by myself all the time! Especially on track days.

Happy New Year! Hope Brooke is home safe and sound with you asap. I think you have handled this year amazingly well and should be really proud of yourself. Hugs!

Reply

My avg weekly run/other cardio distance was 45 miles. But with some extra distance training I hit over 2400 miles. I have bought more shoes this year than last so I know my mileage is up.

My goals are to do 10 races, I usually do maybe 3 a year.

Reply

I wish I had a running group like this!!! Great motivation! I’m bad at tracking miles too!! I never know when I need new shoes until my knees hurt!

I miss Brookers too! She is so darn cute and the best dressed little tot I know!

I ran 1,101.36 miles last year. I keep track with SportsTrack – awesome software that I can upload directly from my Suunto watch.

I’m still mulling my goal for 2014. I’ll be turning 50, so I thought about 50 miles a week (did that once and it’s more than I really want to do). Now I’m thinking about 50 kilometers a week.

I’m not a fan of Indian curry, but I love Chicken Tikka Masala!

I keep track of my miles through runningahead. My goal for this year is 1000 :)

This is why you need to join http://www.fastrunningblog.com/ and take 3 minutes every morning and log in your miles. It will add them up for you in the end. Such an awesome site!

Dude, I need a nap today too!

I started running in March 2013 with c25k app, and started tracking mileage in May. Since May I have run 207 miles. Aiming for 500 in 2014!

How did you meet so many lovely fellow running friends? Though I mostly run for the solitude it would be lovely to have company for some fun runs! I live in London (UK) so you’d think there would be no shortage of people around, but just where do I meet anyone? Or did you start with a bunch of great mates and then just go running? :-)

Reply

I miss Brooke! Her trip is almost half over so she’s almost half back. Let’s look at it that way, right?!
I use daily mile to log my mileage. I love doing it! I like being able to gauge my progress for the year. It feels good to see that number creep up.
I’ve never had Indian food. I guess I’m weird!

Reply

I ran 404.9 miles in 2013, just short of a nice round number. But I did accomplish my goal of running a half marathon. I use RunKeeper to keep track. I’m not allowed to leave on a run without my phone (per the husband) so it’s easy to just start the app.

I don’t really have a mileage to hit for 2014, still trying to sort out what it is I want to accomplish. I got really sick right after Thanksgiving and didn’t hit all the runs I wanted to get in in Nov/Dec. My plan is to use January to re-group and start racing again in Feb.

Reply

I used to keep track of my mileage… like 4 years ago. Then I lost my password for the site I tracked them on and never tracked mileage again! I guess I could check my Garmin but I really don’t care what the number is. My guess is around 1500??

Reply

Fun times this morning, loved it! I ran 2281 running miles plus 343 cross training miles. I keep track on http://www.fastrunningblog.com I love it because you can keep track of each of your shoe miles as well. You can choose to keep it private go go public so the whole world can see how you train:)

Reply

I ran 396, 4 short of my 400 milage goal. But I had my highest amount of milage last year so I’m hoping for 600 miles this year. I keep track through Daily Mile which comes from RunKeeper. I love it!

Reply

I ran 620.02 miles and I just add up all the miles from my garminconnect then write down the dates in a notebook (your phone memo would work too) that way you don’t have to start over every time. My goal this year is to average 20+ miles per week.

I ran 1,614 miles last year. I track my mileage on daily mile and using an excel worksheet where I plan my training. You should try daily mile! Its easy to use and becomes a habit for me each day after my run.

I LOVE to keep track of my miles…I am so weird! I finished the year with a flat 1500 miles. I was injured during the summer, and took 3 months off, so I am happy with my goal. I have a wonderful group of running friends in my neighborhood, and I think I have them hooked at tracking their mileage this year. I sent them my excel spreadsheet to use. haha!

Indian food….have had it once, and it was SPICY!!!! =)

Happy new Year!

Honestly, I don’t run! But I DO love Indian food! It’s my favorite cuisine. Happy New Year!

This was the first year I tracked my mileage all year (as opposed to just during my training blocks) and I found it really helpful. I actually wrote them down with a pen and paper in the Runners World Training Log that send out every year with one of the issues in the fall. I did the weather, how I felt, what else I had going on that week and it really helped. I have a Garmin so I would time some workouts, but mostly I know the distances I run. There are only so many routes in a very rural area! I ended up running just over 900km, and was shocked that I accumulated that much mileage over the course of the year, especially since I had a baby Jan 26th so I didn’t start running until March 1st. I believe that detailed tracking of my mileage and planning my runs and recording what I actually did vs how I felt (sometimes much more, sometimes much less or even none) helped me grow as a runner and I enjoyed the process.

Reply

I ran 592 miles last year which was my most ever! I keep track in the notes on my phone because I always have it with me. Confession: I’ve never tried Indian food.

Reply

I use to use daily mile to track my workouts a few years ago. Since I’m just getting back into running again, I’m focused more on getting back into it then actual mileage goals. I don’t want to commit to a mileage goal and then be forced out by injury again.

I had Indian food once….whatever I had was too spicy.

Looks like you had a fun NYE!! You deserve it :)

I ran 1496 miles last year (shoulda run 4 more….). My goal for 2014 is to run 31 miles on my birthday and then hopefully beat my 2013 miles. I keep track on Daily Mile, which I love because they send you a weekly email telling you how awesome your week of training was even if you only ran 5 miles :D

Happy New Year!!

I ran 1300 miles last year! And I had a calendar notebook type thing from runners (found it in one of those calendar stores in the mall) and it made it super easy to keep track. Even if I forgot a couple days, I remembered what I ran enough to write them down!

Reply

I ran 2548.67 miles!

I ran somewhere in the ballpark of just over 500 miles (not nearly as many as I hoped!). My dad makes it a tradition to give me his favorite Runner’s journal for Christmas every year so I use that. It’s just called ” The Complete Runner’s Day by Day log Calendar”…its perfect. I like writing things down. For some reason it holds me more accountable. I also use Strava, but sometimes forget to turn it on and sometimes it records screwy mileage.

My mileage goal for 2014 is to really crank things up and log 800. Its high based on this past year’s, but I really want to up my midweek miles.

Glad you spent time with family and good friends to ring in the New Year. Hoping 2014 has super wonderful and jolly moments for you!

Hi there!! I ran 1,980 miles last year. I track all my runs on runnersworld mainly to keep track of how many miles I put on my shoes. It’s also neat to see how many miles you run each week. I’ve never really looked at the total for the whole year though :)

Thanks for the blog title, becuase I did keep a training log for 2013 but I didn’t even bother to look at the year end data until I read “how many miles did you run last year?”.

I love most of the websites that people are suggesting for training. I use a mix of Endomondo and Nike+, but ultimately wound up just making my own training log in xcel so I can track miles run, tell myself how many miles I need to run each week and my long run for the week, and track my cross training and stretching. I have a feeling its one of those things that works for me but might not be for everyone.

If you use training plans and mileage progressions for marathon or half marathon training, you can let the training plan double as a log for how many miles you actually completed.

In 2013 I ran 1,278 and my goal was 1,000.

Thanks again, Liz

What is the trail you ran on? It looks like a pretty one! And I’m always looking for different trails. :)

I ran 238 miles last year. This last year I needed to retrain how to run because of shin splints. Resting has helped a lot and I did that a lot this past month, mainly due to me being sick. :( hopefully this new year will be better. My husband has a goal to run 400 miles this year, which is great because he just started running this past year. I think I’m gonna try and stick with him because it is easier to run with someone.

I ran about 950 miles last year. I only have an average because I didnt start keeping a log until about 2 months ago but I know I averaged 18-24 miles a week.. I keep notes on my phone and then the goal is to transfer them to a spreadsheet.

Love to see that you had a fun night. Love see Brooke too.

I use Runkeeper. I ran 1506 in 2013 and made another goal of 1500 for a repeat! I liked one of the other posters that is running 2014 and now I’m rethinking my crazy goal!

What a great group picture! We need to do a run sometime, (or I could watch you start and fade into the distance, that would be great too:) I would love to meet some new running partners. I just got caught up on your blog, and I wanted to say welcome back to Utah, we are so happy to have you here!! :)
And hang in there with counting down the days until your little miss B gets back, the hugs and kisses I am sure you will get when she see’s you will make the waiting worth it. You are an inspiration to me and many others for staying positive despite what life throws at you-so thank-you!

I never tried to add up my miles at the end of the year, but I probably could because I track all of my mileage on Dailymile.com. It’s the first thing I do after I’m done running…mainly because I like to try and keep track of my “practice prs”. I know, I’m sick!
I love Indian food, but don’t eat it near as much as I’d like to!

Reply

If you go to Dailymile and then to your training page, you can look at only the miles you ran each month. It makes it really easy to add up the miles! :)

I ran 1,017 miles this year. I was hoping for more, but it was a busy year with moving to another country. Then I wasn’t able to run the last 2 weeks of the year because I was sick and fell at home and cut up my face pretty good.

I am not sure of my exact milage goal for this year. I still need to sit down and work that all out, but I would like to hit at least 1,500 miles in 2014. I keep track of all my workouts on Dailymile!

I have never had Indian food, but it looks delicious!

Missing Brooke photos and stories.
I do the same thing…I start and then forget/stall/get bored with keeping track of my mileage and it just doesn’t happen.
Maybe this year. ~so not going to happen~.

I ran 1,249.4 miles from the time I started religiously tracking my miles (some time in mid January) until December 30th. I ran another 4.7 on New Year’s Eve, which I guess brings the grand total to 1,254.1 miles. I am pretty proud of myself to say the least.

Also, I think all of your readers have their hands raised.

Brooke is just too cute for words.
Goals for 2014..mostly to eat healthier

I always make it a goal to keep track of my mileage and then get lazy about it at some point. Usually I can make it until March or so if I’m feeling particularly motivated about it. This year will be the year! I downloaded a free app to log all of my runs so we’ll see how long that lasts.

I can’t wait to read all about your 2014. It is going to be a spectacular year.

I track all of my miles on daily mile. Apparently, I ran 1705 miles last year. Not too shabby!

We all definitely miss Brooke :)

I ran 2020, but had random new injuries (patella tendonitis and a huge blister on the bottom of my foot that side lined me for a full week). I plan to start out running less miles (although I did 10 yesterday and plan to run 8-10 tomorrow) and hope to be injury free in 2014.

1068, personal best! keep track on the runner’s world training log :)

I track about 95% of my runs with my garmin and then transfer the data to run keeper. I track most walks of a mile or more too.
I hit about 1,290 tracked miles (most running and about 200 walking)
So if there were one or two runs not logged then I can say I reached 1,300 for ’13

My goal for 2014 will be 1,400 miles. It will be harder since I only have one full marathon planned and last year I had 2 but I want to train for my halves with long runs up to 14 this year (instead of 10 being the longest)

New Year’s Eve food was wine and champagne and some cheese doodles. Oops.

I would like to run every day for a month with a minimum of 5 miles each of the days. I’m thinking June or July – good (better) running weather! Considering I run about 3 days a week now (cross train on the other days), this will be quite a feat.

Reply

I ran 773 miles last year and I’d like to hit 1000 this year. I use strava.com to track my mileage and train. It’s like Facebook for runners. I love it. Have a great year running. :)

I am not starting 2014 off right, injured and can’t run… but let’s hope that I can track my mileage this year to see how much I actually do run!

I’m trying to total up my miles for this year as well…I always feel bummed that I don’t know!

I was hoping you would put a post up about mileage this year! Last year I read your post about wanting to track your miles for the year and it really motivated me. I downloaded an app to my phone and made the commitment to track my miles every day on it. It worked! I probably missed a few miles (I forgot a few times) but I have a total of 1265 miles from 2013. The app is super cool cause it also counts the number of hours you’ve run total (I spent 160 hours and 45 minutes running in 2013!) and the average minutes per mile for your total mileage (it can also keep track of the shoes you use and the routes you run). It’s just so rewarding to see the figures in front of you! Thanks so much for bringing this topic back up and for motivating me to keep track of what I’m running. I love reading your blog!

I keep track with paper and pen! It helps motivate me!! I just added them up… 958.5 for 2013 :)

I completed 902 miles between biking and running last year, but I stopped keeping track in July after I had surgery to repair a couple of hernias from doing too much too soon after a kidney donation surgery in 2012 (I guess that half marathon seven weeks after wasn’t such a good idea after all). The highlight was driving down to Colorado to do the Elephant Rock 100 mile ride with other organ donors and recepients. I can’t wait for the adventures coming in 2014…..started with a 4 mile snowshoe at Mt. Rainier yesterday and planning a bike ride at some point today.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I ran 661 miles last year (this includes taking June and most of July off for an injury/PT) My goal for 2014 is 1,200…might as well double it! I track with Nike and Dailymile.

Bravo to all the readers with super high miles….well done, friends!

I’m actually shocked that you don’t track your miles! You always write down your daily/weekly workouts here — so technically you ARE tracking them somewhere :)

I think you’d be interested to see your grand total!

I use dailymile.com. Even with my Garmin tracking my outdoor runs, I still plug everything into dailymile because its so easy and something I do now automatically when I’m walking to cool down, before anything else. I don’t even use anything else on that app/site, so it’s literally a simple log for me. The simpler the better!

I’ve had to take months and weeks off on and off since April – hurt my lower back somehow and it keeps coming back (you can see the drop in the graph – another cool feature over time). It’s frustrating, but I’m learning to concentrate on other forms of exercise, really toning and strengthening — it can be exciting to emphasize other things! I find that as runners we tend to get lost in our mileage, but varying things up is super awesome for your body.

That being said, just checked my grand total (give or take a few miles that got lost in my notes): 860.67
…down from 1,000 last year

And yes, indian food is deliciousssss

I bet you have approximately 293847239847293479234 miles from last year- haha!

Thanks for the reminder with the Indian food – I was meaning to make plans for lunch with a friend next week for an Indian buffet haha.

I always wear my ipod nano that has the nike+ tracker built into it so it tracks everything on the nike website for me.

This year I ran 513 miles (with 121 runs) for an average of 4.2 miles! this is the first year I have tracked my mileage but I know it’s more than ever because I ran more races than ever.

and i LOVE indian food. I just went to an Indian buffet the other day and it was great

This was my first year recording my mileage and I can’t believe I stuck with it all year! Just wrote about it here: http://lifeaftermorningcoffee.blogspot.com/2014/01/2013-mileage.html

I completed about 315 miles and can’t wait to see how many I can complete in 2014 :)

I didn’t find a good tracker until July after I started back up in July.

so July to November (since Dec was a wash due to a bad sinus infection) was 213. Not too impressive, but it was ZERO for Jan-June, and ZERO for all of 2012, so that a win for me.

I’m looking forward to starting a new year marker and hope to see 500-600 at least!

I ran 400.96 miles in 2013. My 2014 goal is +500.

And I miss Brookers :) She’s so adorable!

daily mile. daily. it worked great last year. 1640 miles done last year!!!

I ran 913 miles in 2013, sooooo close to 1000. In 2014 I want to run AT LEAST 1000 miles, hopefully I will exceed that goal! I keep track of my miles using Daily Mile which does a great job at helping me to estimate my pace and distance (since I don’t have a GPS watch).

I’m also running my second half marathon and I would love to beat my first time of 1:48!

Reply

I ran just over 2600km (maybe around 1650 miles I think), a bit less than the 3100km I did in 2012, but I’ve dropped back from 5 days of running per week to 4 and added in a couple of days of cycling for cross training, and my knees love me! Who knew that cross training was actually good for us runners!! It’s only taken me around 20 years of running to figure that one out, I’m quick…

Use Smashrun (website) to track mileage over week, month, and year. It’s free and gives some good data. I wish more runners knew about it!

Also I’m actually in India right now visiting family – I will have some of my mother in law’s homemade food in your honor :)

I have always wanted to track my miles and I’m so bad about it too. I bet if you REALLY wanted to, you could go back through your blog posts and almost figure it out!
I just started a blog for the first time yesterday and one of my goals is to keep track of my workouts and miles on my blog….we will see how long that lasts! haha!

I definitely want to track my miles this year. My goal is 1,000 total miles — including at least 3 half marathons. I just got a Nike + watch, so I hope to use that to accurately track my mileage.

I LOVE Indian food. Vegetable Vindaloo is my favorite, very spicy and delicious!

Happy New Year!

I’ve never tracked my miles before as I only really started running this year. I’d like to reach at least 200 miles at the end of this year though…

Indian food fan(ish), I always end up having one when I run with my dad as he loves to make a huge array of dishes to refuel after a run. I can’t stand dahl… love most lamb dishes and normally end up having lamb dopiaza. Can’t go wrong with a chicken korma either ;)

I only ran 227 miles in 2013. I have been having a tough time with my thyroid disease for the past two years, and that has a major impact on my weight. In turn, the weight gain and other health issues associated with thyroid disease impact my running as well. I’m hoping this year will be better, because I’m trying to train for my first full marathon in March! I have been thinking about downgrading my registration to the half marathon, but my husband keeps talking me out of it. I’m not sure yet what I will do!

I don’t as a rule keep track of the miles I run on a yearly basis, but I suppose I must run about 50 kilometers a week.

1000 miles! It’s a lot for me and has been a goal of mine for like 4 years or something! I keep track on the free runnersworld.com running log and that is how I keep track of my shoe mileage as well. I also love Indian food and my favorite dish is Butter Chicken :)

I didn’t track my miles- and now I wish I had. I’m thinking….700?

In order to improve my cardio performance for better running, I am taking special nutritional supplement. Haven’t seen anything like that before, but recently found this new product by Military Grade. The name of the product is Cardijex. It enhances heart health, therefore, helps me to intensify my workouts. Now it is easier for me to increase my mileage. Besides, it promotes calorie burning. Perfect combination for me!

I love your blog! I went to school out at BYU Idaho and now live in Tennessee……..I loved the school but do not miss the snow! I wasn’t much of a runner then. I made it 1500 miles in 2013, and completed my 2nd and 3rd half marathons and my first full marathon! 4:04…….I wanted to break four hours, but was very proud of myself anyway. I don’t think I will ever have your speed-way to go! And your baby is adorable ;)
