Links to cool articles/things about running… Every runner’s favorite way to spend their Sunday afternoon as they are recovering from their weekend long run.
Here are some of my favorites from this last week:
-The best running/life article I have read in a very long time: BLESS YOUR HEART. “Pain is weakness leaving your body.” If you are a runner and dealing with heartache right now you simply have to read this. I think I have read it at least 20 times.
-Am I Overtraining for My Marathon? It is so easy to fall into this trap, it is so important to know the warning signs of overtraining and what to do if you are pushing yourself too far.
-10 Bucket List Marathons. How about we all plan to do these 10 marathons together? Let’s start with the Honolulu Marathon.
-I found my dream treadmill. Now that I am back to living in Utah I will be using a treadmill during the winter when the roads are too icy. Plus, let’s be honest…I have always enjoyed treadmill running. The Official Boston Marathon Treadmill 4.0 fits all of my needs:) My dream treadmill: It goes up to a 20% incline (decline down to -3%) and up to 15 mph, the hd/touch screen allows you to get online and the cadence metronome helps you hit your perfect cadence. The Boston Video Workouts would help motivate me to train hard this winter.
I think we would be the best of friends. Someday:)
-Maximize Your Training Time. Great tips for runners that don’t have a ton of time to train hard but want to see improvements.
-Getting “Chicked”- A History of Women’s Running. I love reading about this!
And for my running summary this week:
Monday: Fartlek run!!! 20 minutes at a 7:45 pace and 8 x 1 minute FAST (6:20 pace) with a 1 minute recovery jog after. Cool-down 20 minutes with a pace of 7:45 -8:30 (that sun tried to kill me at the end).
Tuesday: 40 minute Recovery Run at a 8:00 pace.
Wednesday: Supposed to be a track workout but instead I did 7 miles at a 7:26 pace.
Thursday: 45 minute run at around an 8:30 pace.
Friday: 30 minute run at a 8:30 pace
Saturday: 15 miles! Started at around an 8:45 pace and worked my way down to the last three miles being 7:24, 7 & 7. Felt pretty comfortable which I was happy about. Overall average pace of 7:56.
Not going to lie, I am excited for Utah running again. 60 degrees in the morning…yes please.
PS Brooke played fetch by herself for an hour straight today. She got crawling pretty fast after she threw that ball.
What was the best run of your week? The worst?
