I made it the full 15 miles

Motivation to start running at 5:06 a.m. = getting to run with Anissa.  We ran for an hour together and the time flew by.  Once I was done running with Anissa I told myself to just run at an easy pace and adjust my speed according to the heat for the remainder of the run and see how far I could go.  I felt great the whole run and ended up doing 15 miles (it was slower than what my training plan had set for me but I am more than okay with that).

For the first hour it was raining a little bit which felt amazing but it turns out it makes your phone take very blurry pictures.

IMG 1169

This part was sure fun.  I should choose routes that have radars telling me my speed more often.  I was tempted to throw some fartleks in and see how high I could get that little number (just like that Office episode).

IMG 1171

Who does this?  Who just has beautiful peanut butter and banana pancakes (bisquick pancakes with pb chips, chunky pb and a mashed banana) waiting for you to eat when you walk in the door?

My SIL does this kind of stuff.

IMG 1178

They made Brooke’s morning too.

DSC 6293

After a swim in their pool, some lunch at home and a shower Brooke went down for her nap with my SIL and my brother and I took my nephew to the movies.

We saw Despicable Me 2 and this was the first time that I have gone to see a movie since before Brooke was born.  I think the last movie I saw in the theater before yesterday was The Hunger Games.  I guess I could search my archives to find out the answer to that question but I am too preoccupied watching American Ninja Warrior with my brother while I write this.

IMG 1181

Takeout with kids really is the way to go.  Takeout from Pita Jungle (if you ever come to Arizona you have to eat there) makes it even better.

I had the Mediterranean Chicken Salad which hit the spot and some of that chicken pizza in the back.

DSC 6301

And for dessert we made the easiest and most delicious banana bread

DSC 6303

I have a ‘climb on every single thing in the house’ child now.

My last movie was Despicable Me 2 too! I took my kids to see it.

Best thing eaten was Brie cheese on crackers. It was soft and a little bit oozy- just how I like it.

Definitely smooth peanut butter!

Brooke is sooooo cute!!!

Last movie I saw was The Spirit of the Marathon 2!
Since I have worked at the hospital all weekend .. I haven’t enjoy any “good” food … Lol!
Those pancakes look amazing!
I like ALL pb!

Reply

Wow, 15 miles?!? You go girl! Every time I run by one of those speed things I want to stop, turn around, and try to beat my previous speed.

I hear you on the movie thing – the last movie I saw in theaters before my daughter was born was the last Twilight movie. How was Despicable Me 2?

Reply

Last movie I saw in the theater was one of the iron mans… Don’t even remember which one!! Those pancakes and banana bread look absolutely amazing. Best thing eaten lately was a turkey sandwich yesterday. So simple but it made my day. Brooke looks adorable on top of the world and its so great for you both to be able to spend time with family!! Hope you are having a great day

I think the last movie we saw in the theater was Silver Linings Playbook…. and we’re not that cool because it was in a budget theater after it had already left all the big ones. We always say we’re going to go to movies in the theaters (like Despicable Me 2, We Are the Millers… etc) but we never do. I guess its safe to say I like to pause movies from my couch to go to the bathroom or refill my popcorn whenever I want far more than I love paying to sit next to a stranger.

Reply

Last movie I saw was Mud for a date night away from the baby. So good!

And I have to admit I’m a smooth peanut butter type of gal.

Reply

Two guns. (Last movie, not my pick)
BBQ chicken flatbread (best thing eaten this weekend)
I have both pb’s in the pantry because the favorite rotates. Right now it is chunky.
Happy Sunday!

Reply

Last movie was The Butler. It was really good! Oprah’s a good actor (which I didn’t realize). Best thing I ate this weekend was meatballs with parmesan cheese sauce, over mac and cheese. Then we got froyo. Heaven.

Reply

That’s awesome that you went to the theatre, that’s a long time to be away. Saying that though, I can’t remember the last time I went either!

I am smooth peanut butter all the way.

We made home made Chipotle burrito bowls on Friday night for dinner and we couldn’t stop talking about how good it was.

I love that she’s to the climbing stage now. I remember having to move the “breakables” up on the shelves about every month or so as my girls became better climbers. Now they go and get steps to put on the counters to reach up above the cupboards for Pringles- that’s motivation! I haven’t eaten anything very good, but Ruby came in this morning before Church and told me she already got her breakfast– turns out it was a Cliff Bar left over from the IronMan a couple weeks ago!

Reply

The last movie I saw was also Despicable Me 2. I was in New York in July during an insane heat wave. To fight the heat we saw Monsters University one day and Despicable Me 2 a couple days later while visiting my aunt/uncle/cousins in New Jersey.

Reply

I just went out and saw Riddick last night. Seriously an awesome movie if you’re into sci-fi/alien movies…and nice to see that Vin Diesel still works once in a while!

Reply

I can’t remember the last movie I went to see…

I’ve eaten lots of yummy cakes this weekend

Chunky pb. Always!!

Reply

Lol that radar clocking your speed is hilarious. I had no idea that they actually focused on anything besides cars. And how amazing was Despicable Me 2? I think that and World War Z were two of the last movies I saw in theaters… As for chunky vs smooth PB – neither. AB for this girl :) And always smooth.

Reply

I have a 2 year old so I can’t even remember the last time I got to go to a movie in theaters!

I treated myself to a gigantic veggie sub last night after besting my 15k PR in the YMCA 15k by 19 minutes!

There’s nothing better than chunky PB!

Reply

Last movie in a theater- Ice Age 3 last summer with my stepson and nephew.

Best weekend food- Mint chocolate Builder bar, as we’ve been on the road house hunting for homes near the ocean. (Our offer was accepted on one…fingers crossed as the inspection is Wednesday!)

Smooth peanut butter forever!

Reply

Last movie I saw was Despicable Me 2. You won’t get to see anymore adult movies until she starts going to the movies with her friends. :)

Reply

I think the last movie I saw in the theater was also Hunger Games, and it wasn’t even new when I saw it. It was in the $3 theater! Best thing I’ve eaten this weekend – chocolate cherry fudge cake with homemade chocolate icing and vanilla bean ice cream. YUM! My daughter helped me make it, so that made it even sweeter!

Reply

The last movie I saw was at the Drive In and was Despicable Me 2! I never saw 1, but we went for the movie after, and clearly left before falling asleep haha. We used to have a movie theater that was 99 cents, so I would go there. Now, I refuse to pay $12 for a movie! I’d rather go shopping :) I made homemade soft pretzels and beer cheese yesterday.. those would be the best thing that I have eaten. Mmm

Reply

Best thing I ate this weekend was at the street fair, corn on the cob with mayo, cilantro, chili, parmesan, cumin and a lime.. it was amazing.

Reply

How was despicable me 2?? I’ve been meaning to go watch it (yes I’m a college student…no shame). Worth going to the movies for?!

Reply

Last movie that you saw in a theater?
Iron Man 3. Not my type of movie but worth it for Robert Downey Jnr! It’s about $18 a ticket here in Sydney.
Best thing that you have eaten this weekend?
Toss up between Cadbury Marvellous Creations – Jelly and Crunchie Bits – bar
Chunky or smooth peanut butter?
Smooth, smooth, smooth. Always.

Reply

15 miles in the Arizona heat?! You go girl! Seriously your training has been going so well and I really like how real you keep things on here. Stay strong Janae!

Reply

Great run! That speed sign cracks me up. It totally reminded me of The Office!

I don’t get to the movies very often either. My girls would have us going every weekend, if they could. The last movie I saw in a theater was The Heat.

Best thing I have eaten this weekend is my current breakfast. Piece of whole wheat toast with a wedge of Garlic & Herb Laughing Cow cheese wedge spread on it, topped with 1/4 of an avocado. Yummy!

Reply

Wow wow wow that pizza and salad looks incredible!

Reply

Sounds like a great day.
Last film- weird indie think- cant remember title.
Best food-home made sweet potato and black bean chili
Chunky peanut butter- no doubt!

We’re having homemade pizza today during all of the football games so I’m really excited for that food!

Reply

that sounds like an awesome run! I am definitely a smooth peanut butter type of girl!

15 miles is awesome!! Way to go!
Creamy peanut butter for sure. I LOVE pancakes and peanut butter and have never thought to combine them!
What do you carry your phone in while you run? I am looking for osmething.
Ummm…maybe I live under a rock, but I had no idea there was a Coudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2?!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reply

I saw the Butler this week … My first time at the cinema since the Hunger Games too!!!!

Reply

Last movie I saw in theatres was James Bond Quantum Solace…. Ya I don’t see a lot of movies because I like to watch them on my comfy couch with pause button and bathroom close by. Off for my 19km run… Wish me luck!

Reply

Great job in the run!! It always feels so good once it is over! The last movie we saw was The Butler last weekend when my parents were in town!

Reply

Best thing I have eaten this weekend? It would probably be the fudgy peanut butter caramel pretzel brownies I made. YUM!

Reply

I’m impressed with the run, and especially the time you got going at! Way to go!

Reply

I can’t even remember the last time I went to the movies! I would much rather watch movies in the quiet of my living room.
The best thing I ate was the new Ola! Granola I bought at the GFAF Expo on Saturday. I tried the Chocolate Banana…it was amazing!
And I am totally a crunchy nut butter kinda person! I love the texture the bits of nuts adds.

Reply

I’m definitely a smooth nut butter lover! The best thing I ate this weekend was zucchini cookie whoopee pies I made a couple of days ago. SO good! I think the last movie I saw was over a year ago so I can’t even remember what it was lol!

Reply

Last movie: Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp.

Best food: Kona Grille in Scottsdale – chili lime salmon with shrimp & pork rice.

PB: smooth

Nice job on the 15 miler!!!! You rock! :)

Reply

American Ninja Warrior is the best show!!!

The last movie I saw in theatre was The Butler — it was so good! Highly recommend it.

Reply

Brooke in t-shirt…I die!
I am a peanut butter connoisseur, so the texture of the PB is dependent on my mood and on the dish (that’s what wine connoisseurs say, right?).
I can’t remember the last movie I saw, but I am pretty pumped for Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2. I loved the first one!

Reply

nice run! Glad you’re setting an example to people out there that training plans are not set in stone and you have to adjust to the weather and how your body feels :)

what race is next for you??

Reply

Ah, Brooke is just so cute!!

The last movie I saw was Despicable Me 2…uh, too! :-)

I had a Panini yesterday that had prosciutto de parma, provolone, spinach and fig jam. Yum!

And I am definitely a chunky peanut butter fan.

Reply

Brooke is just too cute!!!

Reply

Last movie I saw in theater was Ironman 3. The amount of movies I go to in theaters has significantly dropped since having a baby in the picture. ;)

Ahhh PITA JUNGLE! I miss that place so much. So so so good.

And CHUNKY peanut butter all the way! I mean, I won’t discriminate…I love pretty much any peanut butter, but chunky is my all time fave.

Reply

Be still my heart…PB and banana pancakes!

We have a pis Jungle in Tucson too but I’ve never been there yet. Maybe I’ll have to check it out.

Reply

The last movie was Despicable Me 2, which was really cute :) The best thing of I have eaten this weekend was croissant sandwiches with turkey, cranberry sauce, and cream cheese at a tea party birthday yesterday. i can go either way on pb but the family prefers creamy, so that’s usually what I buy.

Reply

And woohoo!! on your 15 miles, that’s awesome. i ran my longest run yet yesterday, with a cold, and whew!

Reply

That speed sign is awesome!
The last movie I saw was Monsters University with my kids – they don’t even love movies, but I love the popcorn.
The best thing I ate this weekend was a takeout order from 5 Guys Burgers and Fries – a double hamburger and fries. Pure gluttony, and worth every calorie!
And chunky peanut butter for sure…slathered on a piece of banana bread. :)

Reply

Last movie I saw was We’re The Millers, funny movie.

Best thing I ate was probably the chocolate peanut butter ice cream I had last night. Seriously anything that combines chocolate and peanut butter has to be good!

I like both chunky and smooth but usually buy smooth.

Way to go on your run!!

Reply

I’m like you, I never go to the theater. The last movie I saw in the theater was “Meet the Fockers”. Yes, I think it has been about 8 years. :)

Reply

Pita Jungle is where its at. When I lived in Phoenix I was obsessed with the 1000 bean. I was usually embarrassed to order something called the “1000 bean”….But it was always worth it.

Reply

Hard getting to the movies when you have a little bambino! But, we made it to 2 Guns a month after our baby was born since it was a short flick, and we could be gone exactly 2 hours from door to door….long enough for mom to watch and me to get back for feeding time!

Reply

As far as the peanut butter, it really depends what I’m using it for. In a PB and J sandwich I’m all about the chunky, but if I’m using it to bake I like the smooth.

Reply

I haven’t been to the movies in so long either. I was VERY pregnant when I last went and she was kicking away all throughout the movie! I’d love to go again soon though!

Reply

honestly have no idea what the last movie i saw in theaters was… hmmmm guess it’s been too long! we made choco chip pancakes for breakfast yesterday… there are a few left that are calling to me from the fridge right now ;)

Reply

Last movie I saw was Austenland. Super cute and actually really funny.
Smooth peanutbutter!
Best thing I’ve had is this margarita pizza last night!

Reply

The speed limit detector sign is soo cool! Its neat you have that photo.

Reply

Last movie I saw was “The Way Way Back”, highly recommend. I loved it. Best thing I ate this weekend was Goat Cheese and Walnut salad with blueberry pomegranate dressing from Uno Chicago grill. And I love chunky peanut butter all the way! Love the little chunks of peanuts.

Reply

Way to go on the run!
Last movie we saw in the theaters was The World’s End – it came out a few weeks ago. We’re trying to go to the movies a lot before the baby comes in November. We might even go tonight!
Best thing I ate was an entire thin crust veggie and cheese pizza last night. We didn’t get to eat dinner until almost 9 so I was starving, and it was most delicious.
No PB for me – I’m allergic to nuts :-(

Reply

I think Elysium was my last theater movie, but it might have been Percy Jackson. This has been kind of a movie summer for us. Did you enjoy DM2? I thought it wax pretty fun. LIPSTICK TASER!!!!

The climbing stage is pretty fun albeit nerve-wracking! She is such s cutie!

I love it that your speed registered on the radar :)

Reply

We went and saw One Direction’s movie yesterday, and I have to say it wasn’t that bad.

Reply

Last movie I saw was Planes, reality is- I saw maybe half of it cause little Miss doesn’t like to sit still. But I’m looking forward to the 2nd hunger games movie- thanks for reminding me!

Well the cupcakes and cookies I made for her birthday party were really good. But I’m thinking the spicy hummus with pita chips takes the cake.

I prefer crunchy peanut butter. But everyone else like smooth. I rarely eat it so I just buy the smooth.

PS- I’m in the market for some new oakleys. What are yours?

Reply

I nevver go to the movies. Too expensive! Running in front of a speed sign is now on my to do list. haha! Those pancakes…. omg yum. And that pizza!! I used to get creamy but then I tried crunchy and now I’m hooked. But any peanut butter is okay with me. Best food ever.

Reply

I used your saying, “I can do hard things.” When I ran 10 miles in 90 degree heat plus whatever humidity wanted to throw here, at me. Thanks for the motivation! Great job on 15!!!!

Reply

I just recently saw the first Despicable Me and can’t wait to see the second one. We were in Arizona in June and ate at Pita Jungle — it was delicious!

First of all, it is awesome that you watched American Ninja Warrior – my goal is to be the first woman to be an American Ninja Warrior, since I can’t go on the show for another 7 years because you have to be 21. Boo. :(

Brooke made my day! She is adorable eating pancakes that looked amazing.

I want to see Despicable Me 2 too! It looks awesome :D

Reply

Yum that salad looks so good! What a fun movie outing! The last movie I saw in theatres was The Great Gatsby, and I looooooved it. So so so so good! :) It’s one of my fave books and I was NOT disappointed in the movie! I used to prefer chunky pb but now I’m alll about the creamy!

I saw The Heat and it was hilarious!!!! I did my first 20 miler ever!!! 2:30 minutes for 7:31 pace! It felt great!!!

Reply

Nice work on making the full 15 miles! I too am “readjusting” my schedule by taking today and tomorrow off (instead of long run today and tomorrow off) and then going easy for a few days because my body is just…tired. And my mind is tired. I need to fall in love with running again. I like to keep running fun for myself, and sometimes that means taking off extra day and skipping workouts.

Reply

Chunky pb is far superior, but smooth last a lot longer in my house. I guess it’s a draw. I could go for a plate of those pancakes, too. Frankly I think all Sunday mornings should start with pancakes. It makes the world a better place.

Reply

I think the last movie I saw was Taken 2.

The best thing I had to eat this weekend was Parmesan crusted chicken from Longhorn.

I usually choose smooth Pb, but I’ll eat crunchy occasionally because it reminds me of my grandma who ate crunchy all the time.

Reply

Last movie that you saw in a theater?
-Probably the Hobbit. I don’t go to the movies often.

Best thing that you have eaten this weekend?
-This is a tough one! I had Outback yesterday and had their Wood Fire Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Apparently it is new. Had avocado on it, which is why I chose it. But I had spaghetti tonight made with our own homegrown spaghetti squash. It was the first time I ever had it and it was super delicious!

Chunky or smooth peanut butter?
– I love both! But there’s a time for smooth and a time for chunky. I love chunky for PB&Js and just spoonfuls right out of the jar. But smooth for everything else.

Reply

The last movie I saw was Despicable Me 2 with my hubby and 25 and 23 year old sons! :-)

I just ate shrimp and scallops at a little place called Kobe next to the Virginia Tech campus. I love their food! There will be pictures on my blog later tonight!
