Backwards Recap and a double run day.

I thought it would be fun to start with the end of the day and then work our way through to the beginning of the day.

Last night I went running with a friend at 10:20 pm.  That is 100% uncharacteristic of me but I loved it.  I have had an awful week of running but finishing the week off with a  quick 3.1 miles which made me feel like I ended the week off on a high note.

Splits: 6:47, 6:29, 6:25 and last .1 @ 6:11 for an average of 6:33.  Who knows, maybe running in the middle of the night is going to be my new thing.

Before the run I played with Brooke and then when I started putting away laundry Brooke pretended like she was so tired so that she wouldn’t have to help.

Moments before dinner I consumed 70% of this Edible Arrangement.

And a little while before that my new favorite, carrots dipped in guac.

ASH IS HAVING HER BABY in a month!  It really feels like she was just telling me she was pregnant and now it is almost baby time.  The shower was incredible.

And the chicken taco salads were so tasty.

Before the shower I went on a run with my sister.  It was 10:30 a.m. and like 85 degrees out.  We made it 4.5 miles at a 8:50 pace. The heat sucks the life out of me.  Well, the heat and the fact that I ate 300 grams of sugar the night before probably caused the feeling of death I was experiencing 10 steps in to the run.

Slept in until 8:30 a.m.  I needed that.

What are your Sunday plans?

Heading out for my long run very soon. The humidity broke here… hallelujah!

Have a happy Sunday, Janae!

Have you ever tried dipping carrots in salsa? Seriously one of my favourite ways to eat them. And Brooke’s got a brilliant strategy… I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve pretended to be sleeping so that I could get out of doing things ;)

Going to the lake is on the agenda today, and BBQ is on the menu :D It’s going to be a good day…

I dip all my veggies in salsa…soo good:)

Hopefully we are just relaxing today. The baby and I that is. My husband is leading worship for two morning services and then two night services so he’ll be home only 30 minutes in between. And it’s been such a jam packed week that hopefully I’ll get to lay down at baby’s afternoon nap time too. Momma needs some rest!

Heading out for my long run in a minute. Just gearing up!

I need to get an easy 6 miler in sometime today that I blew off earlier in the week. Other than that, I was going to head to the beach but not sunny or warm. Darn it. Oh we’ll….maybe the sun will break through. Golf is always an option. Have a fun day!

My Sunday plans are to run 8 miles!!!!
Then birthday celebrations for my sister!!!
Have a great Sunday!!

NO PLAN KIND OF DAY!!! We haven’t had that in over a week. Total rest and raxation kind of day!

Sunday = run with the hubby, church, and relaxing!

If you like celery, try dipping that in guac/celery! It’s the perfect little scooper :)

Running at night is probably one of my favorite times to run too! When I did the Ragnar relay last year I had a 9.1 mile run at 3am and it was actually my best split! Somehow the darkness makes you forget that you’re working hard. :) I hope you have a wonderful Sunday with your family!

Oops! I meant guac/salsa. (Apparently typing isn’t my strength at 3:50am!)

Hello fellow Ragnarian! I luv Ragnar. I’ve done 3 and have a 4th coming up if I can rehab quickly. Anyway, I also love the peaceful night/early morning Ragnar runs. It’s peaceful to hear nothing but your own footfalls. :) Happy Sunday!

I got up at 6:00 AM to go for a run this morning. Only made it a block into my warm up before ankle cried uncle. Guess the planned 2-hour shopping trip that turned into a 9-hour shopping trip yesterday made my ankle a little angry. Oh well, at least I got a cute new outfit and purse out of it!

The rest of my Saturday will include church, probably more shopping (it’s a tax-free weekend here!) and the gym for an easy-on-the-ankle workout.

I used to LOVE running with my friend at night. We would have the best chats and I’d sleep like a baby afterwards. It took a lot of motivation to get me out the door since I’m a morning runner but we always had a blast. I pretty much only eat carrots plain but I eat about a pound a day, no joke. They’re so good! Happy Sunday!

Every now and then I enjoy a late run. The heat here has been crazy! I hosted a family fitness challenge yesterday in almost 100degree temps for hours and felt like I had ran a marathon.

I think anything dipped in guacamole is wonderful. :) We are actually in CALIFORNIA right now on vacation. Don’t worry, my body is still on East Coast time and I was up at 4 your time.

I’m a huge fan of dipping carrots in guacamole. Soooo good!

We have huge family plans today, but I can’t tell anyone about it until later today! So excited!

Church.
Outdoor mall.
BBQ.
Enjoy your Sunday!

I slept in until 7:45 today after going to bed at 10:30 and it felt amazing! I was exhausted after my 14 mile run yesterday (longest run of my life!) Today I need to clean and go grocery shopping, but other than that it is going to be a lazy Sunday!
Is that homemade guac?? It looks amazing

Congratulations on your 14 miler!

Thanks Jill!!

I’m going on a quick 2 mile run, 15 minutes of pilates, 15 minutes of yoga and then getting ready so we can run errand. By run errands, I mean go to Costco :)

I miss double run days… I understand the heat thing though! Wee slept in until 9 yesterday and went for a 3 mile run. Our pace was also 8:50 and it was definitely because it was already almost 80 degrees and humid as all get out by 9 am here in Georgia… Yuck! Lesson learned. Except not really, because it’s almost 9 am again and I’m about to get ready for a 2 mile run outside. Oops…

I am starting to appreciate the night time run as well. I have a friend in town this weekend. Today we are going to the State Fair and I am very excited. I love cows!

Reply

We’re picking up our little girl’s big brother today from the airport! 12 hours and counting!

I’m also (probably) going to take a break from packing and cleaning. Just 12 days til we move and 11 til we get the truck!

It’s time to simplify, relax, and enjoy all of the hard work that has gone into making the time with my hub’s son the best ever (and not filled with packing boxes and cleaning)!

Reply

I went to church already and soon I’m going to a back to school health fair, then I’m going to my garden, then I’m going blueberry picking, then I’m going to basketball!

Reply

Sunday = TRYING to rest. it’s hard for me to take a rest day honestly. but I know my legs (and mind) need it!!!! It’s gorgeous here so I am sitting on our deck sipping coffee.. maybe will start one of my new books today:)

Reply

haha love your backwards day. I ran in the late morning into the early afternoon yesterday and it was awful. The heat kills me too.

Reply

Sunday plans = strength routine & quick run :) Already have had a busy morning of making pancakes and doing dishes and other random chores. Going to spend the afternoon with the little man

Reply

The heat always sucks the energy out of me too! I’d much rather run in the cold than the heat. Glad you were able to end things with an awesome run last night.

Today we plan on church and then just relaxing! It will be wonderful.

Reply

I always feel like I lose the amount of oxygen for my runs when it’s hot outside. Considering I sweat about two minutes after walking outside, hot runs are a brutal time lol!

Today’s agenda includes some tanning, relaxing, family time, and possibly baking some cookies!

Reply

Awesome that a night run went so well for you! The last time I tried that it was about an hour and a half after I ate a mixing-bowl salad, so it was not a particularly enjoyable workout.
Today’s plans involved hanging out at my parents for the afternoon, then they’re taking Eric and I out for dinner tonight. Should be good!

Reply

I’ll eat anything dipped in guac! My friend’s bridal shower was yesterday…feeling a bit sluggish from all the food (and drinks), so I’m thinking today will be a rest and cleaning day!

Reply

I love this whole backwards day post! I usually am a morning runner, but my dad runs around 11 PM. I never understood it until I finally ran with him that late and loved it! For some reason I went faster at night. It didn’t hurt that I could sleep late too. I may be a convert as well :)

So was the double run planned or just happened?

That’s my kind of arrangement! All edible!

Sunday plans=work. Boo.

I’m going to a wedding with my fiance and his family today after church. I snuck in a quick walk, pilates workout, and 8 minute abs this morning!

Reply

Church and then soccer later in the day!

Reply

oh goodness that chicken is frighteningly pink!!!!! Please tell me that was just the light or angle or something!

Reply

The heat is pretty brutal on runs! Today was so nice here I HAD to take advantage of a little break in the heat! My husband and I used to run at 10-11 pm at night. The only thing about night running I noticed is that you would feel like you were FLYING but then i’d look at my Garmin and I would be going much slower than expected! It is so peaceful though!

Reply

I love running in the evening!! It’s such a nice way to wind down at the end of the day :) I went on a bike ride with my husband this morning and it was PERFECT. The weather, the ride, the scenery, the company- all perfect.

Church, a nap, and RELAX!!! It’s my rest day! I start week 6 of my Ironman schedule tomorrow! Wanna hear a funny story that happened this week training?

Sunday’s are my favorite – Recovery run, quick trip to CostCo (LOVE!), and relaxing! If only Sundays were everyday…

Edible Arrangements are the best! expensive, but so much better than flowers :)
Sunday plans = workout (yoga and a walk – recovery day), church, lunch, movie with my husband (The Impossible), and just catching up around the house/relaxing!

Way to go on your night run…I’m embarrassed to admit I’m in bed by that time most nights…ha.

I can totally relate to just not feeling it this week. There were a couple days I just didn’t feel like running. But, I made myself and got it done. Hope this week is better for both of us!!

Oh, this is just perfect!I’d like to enter and try to win this for a pneesrt for my dear cousin who is having a baby. My babies are too big.I think I like the grey edge the best.

Hah I love the backwards recap! I think night runs can be fun, but since I live in the city and it’s not well lit, my boyfriend usually won’t let me run, because he’s convinced I’ll get hit by a car ;)

Reply

My Sunday plans involved recovering from two long weekends in a row. I took a 3 hour nap at 9am. It was pretty great.

I live in SLC and went for a run Saturday morning and it was deathly hot.. the WHOLE 15 miles felt like I was dragging and I think I stopped 5 times for water.. I think you’re good ;)
