How I end my night….

You know you are extra cool when one of the best parts of your day is watching Brooke figure out how to put the lid back on the milk.  Baby genius I tell you.

That tongue.

IMG 0206

Now this is crazy.  The below pictures are of my niece when she was little.  Can you believe how much Brooke and my niece look alike?

IMG 0209

Brooke and I were lucky enough to go to dinner with two of my favorite people.  I met this couple about 7 years ago in a spin class and we have stayed really good friends.

IMG 0216

She gave us the best present I could ask for.  She makes the most amazing packets for parents to help them learn the best ways to teach their children.  She has been a teacher for 17 years and she really knows her stuff and the activities she includes in the packets are awesome.  Check out HER SITE!

You would think this would be enough food for our meal but no, these were just the appetizers.  I am pretty sure that corn on the cob was soaked in liquid gold, it was so good.

IMG 0211

Fresh corn and goat cheese on pizza > any other pizza ever made by man.

IMG 0212

Ice cream sandwich with fudge > well, a lot of things.

IMG 0213

And like usual my night ended with a tide stick because heaven forbid I eat a meal without spilling on myself.  Oh and in case I hadn’t had enough cookies in one night I had to try one of Megan’s zucchini cookies

What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Do you talk to people when you go to the gym?  Have you met any good friends at the gym?

If you could have any kind of cookie in the world right now….what kind would you choose?

I would choose a chocolate, peanut butter cup cookie right about now. YUMMY.
No major plans this weekend but I’m enjoying it since we go back to school in less than 2 weeks! Yikes!!!!

Reply

Peanutbutter/white-chocolate/oatmeal-raisin cookie would be heavenly!!!

This weekend I have a relaxing couple days with nothing but a long run scheduled! perfect way to spend saturday and sunday!!

Reply

OMG. So much goodness in one post! It all looks wonderful! I am a goat cheese lover for sure, and it’s even better on pizza! Hmm… any cookie? I choose a Nestle chocolate chip cookie sandwich with the frosting in the middle!

Reply

Funny how cousins can look so much alike!
Love the packet idea. I thought of doing that once but never got around to it… hence my life!

Reply

Those photos of Brooke are too cute!
The one thing I miss about giving up lactose is goat cheese! I love that stuff way too much.

Reply

I would really go for a warm chocolate chip cookie right now, at 8am. It’s that good. And pizza, but I had that for dinner. Pizza for breakfast anyone?

Reply

Hands down a fresh from the oven homemade chocolate chip cookie! Nothing better.

Reply

Corn on pizza? Interesting!
I had a strawberry cheesecake cookie the other day and it was the best thing I’ve ever had. I’m waiting on my friend to send the recipe so I can eat an entire batch.

We’re checking out wedding venues this weekend so I am counting down every second until 5:00 today :)

Reply

Ooh please share this recipe if you get it!! That sounds amazing!

Reply

I had a peanut butter cookie for breakfast and paired it with an apple so that it would be a balanced meal. I have never met a good friend at the gym. I thikn I am too quiet adn focused on surviving when I am there!

Reply

I never talk to people when I go to they gym I’m super anti social I just want to go in and get my work out done.

Reply

I was just saying yesterday that no matter what, if I’m wearing something that does NOT take well to stains (aka anything other than cotton), I spill something on myself without fail. So annoying.

This weekend I’m looking forward to doing a DIY project and painting some chairs for my living room. I’m also planning on attempting a run on Sunday. Hopefully it goes well.

Reply

my bachelorette party is this weekend! i don’t have any gym friends but two of my bridesmaids i met through my running club… now that is awesome.

Reply

I am looking forward to my long run tomorrow followed by the White Sox game!

I’m not a gym talker – I like to simply get in my zone and get the workout done. That said, I will chat with my trainer if I’m working out with him.

I would LOVE a gingersnap with my coffee right now!

Reply

Ohh please do not ask about cookies when I’m currently hungry and waiting for breakfast to finish cooking… But since I’ve already got cookies on the brain, I’d go with a chewy chocolate chip oatmeal cookie… a classic that’ll always be near and dear to my heart.

Reply

I’m drooling over that pizza. Goat cheese and corn is such an awesome combination!

If I could have any cookie in the world right now, I’d choose one of those chocolate pillow cookies. Like, it’s a normal cookie on the outside, but it has chocolate brownie-like stuff on the inside. With chocolate drizzle on top, obviously. :)

Today is food truck Friday in St. Louis! Over 15 food trucks line up in a park and we eat and eat. Happiness.

Reply

I’m from St Louis also! I’ve heard about Food Truck Friday but haven’t made it up there yet!

Reply

Come early and come hungry! It is one of my favorite events in the city. Hope to see you there someday.

Reply

Hmm I’ve never seen corn on pizza before! Looks interesting. I am looking forward to hanging out with my sister this weekend. She’s been living in Seattle all summer and I can’t wait to see her!

Reply

Yummmmmm!!!

Reply

yum goat cheese and corn. I made a goat cheese and pear pizza before it was delicious. Anything with goat cheese is just amazingness.
I’m not thinking of any cookie right now, I want that cookie sandwich with fudge!

Reply

Oh goodness, all of that food looks incredible! Yumm.

I’m looking forward to a fun track workout with my hubby this weekend and we’re buying a new TV! It’s kind of a big deal in our house, so we’re pretty stoked. ;)

Reply

That food looks amazing!

I’m looking forward to an event tonight that we are going to tonight with a bunch of my boyfriends work friends. It is called Big Smoke in Vancouver and you get all dressed up and go and bet on horses and have a huge pig roast dinner. I’m not a fan of seeing the pig, so I will probably stick to eating everything else. Then airshow tomorrow!

I talk to people at the gym sometimes but not if I’m running on the treadmill, running and having a conversation is a skill that I haven’t mastered yet

Reply

Weekend plans are working and trying to squeeze in my 9 mile run!
I had it schedule today but it is raining and I hate running in the rain!
All that food looks delish!

Reply

This weekend I’m looking forward to grilling with my family tomorrow and celebrating National S’More’s Day!! And Sunday, David and I are going to Lake Winnapesaukee with some friends of his from work. It’s supposed to be great weather!

Have a great weekend!!

And yes, that tongue is just too cute. :-)

Reply

Brooke with her tongue is too much! My son always has his tongue out when he is focusing/concentrating on something. I think it’s a trait of a genius child! ;)
This weekend is bittersweet for me as it’s our last weekend before school starts. So, today I’m getting my hair done (first time in over 12 weeks!) and I’m taking my kids to see Planes at the theater. Tomorrow, we are heading to my parents’ house so my mom can watch the kids while my sister and I go for our long run (hubby is out of town). I don’t know what I would do without my mom!!
Right now, if I could have any cookie it would be a chocolate chip cookie from Paradise Bakery!

Reply

This incdorutes a pleasingly rational point of view.

Reply

We’re roading tripping to MI to see friends this weekend. My kids could not be more excited!

I’ve never been to a gym… But I’m looking into a short term membership over the winter so I can at least get on the treadmill. So maybe I’ll meet cool people then!

I would love an oatmeal raisin cookie right now! Or maybe a chocolate peanut butter cookie…

Reply

Peanut butter cookie, hands down!

I love your blog–and cannot believe how big (and beautiful!) little Brooke is getting!

Reply

I want to at that pizza through my iPad

Yum!

Reply

yumm I want all that food! I wouldn’t mind a giant sugar cookie! When I was younger I used to always stick my tongue out like that when I was concentrating on something.

Reply

I fully admit I am not the most social person in the world at the gym- I usually just have my headphones in and zone out and get my workout done. It’s not against other people, that’s just the way I work out best. I am more social in classes though- like when I spin or take a pilates/yoga class…definitely more likely to chat someone up (before or after, don’t wanna interrupt their workout!).

Looking forward to hopefully a 5k PR and a fabulous 18 miler with a friend on Sunday!

Reply

Wow they really do look so much alike! Crazy!

I would eat this brown sugar coconut cookie that I had at a relief society activity once. I got the recipe, so I need to make them. Best cookies I’ve ever had!

Reply

Any cookie. Preferably ones with chocolate in them. And peanut butter. See, I told you, ANY cookie!

Reply

Oh my goodness, that cookie ice cream sandwich dessert looks amazing!

This weekend, I am looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the last weekend before the craziness of school starts for my girls. We have a bit more of shopping to do for school supplies and that’s about it. Maybe go to the zoo for some fun.

I don’t really talk to anyone at the gym. Usually just put my headphones in and go about my business. Classes would be the exception. Occasionally I talk to people in there. And sometimes I end up in the same class as my cousin’s wife. And we always chat it up and she seems to know everyone there.

Reply

This weekend, I’ll be going SUPing for free! There’s a place that is giving out all the necessary equipment for free and my brother and some friends and I are going to take advantage of it :)

Reply

That looked like a great dinner. I have a pizza I make at home with sautéed shallots, pear, goat cheese, and basil on trader Joe’s whole wheat crust. It’s awesome! I’m not looking forward to it being my last weekend off before school starts next week. I’m not read to teach and leave my boy everyday :(

Reply

Mmmmm pizzeria 712. That place is delicious. We had that beef with polenta and horseradish sauce last time we were there for our app too…and the pita bread and hummus. I think next time you I should invite myself to tag along.

I go to the gym with some girls in my ward, but I have made friends there too. Ross thinks talking to anyone at the gym/while working out is just weird. But I can’t think of a time when I am not talking, soooo

I did sprint intervals on the step mill and weights this morning and lets just say that I was a little nauseous because I ate all those cookies for dinner. You would think I would have learned my lesson after doing that with my zucchini muffins last week. But no. So right now, no cookies sound good…and I can’t believe I just said that.

Hope you had a great workout this morning and that you were smart and ate more than just cookies for dinner to fuel your work out ;) And I love Brooke’s tongue sticking out – I was noticing that yesterday. She does look so much like your niece – and I am so jealous of your family genes that kid you kids so much hair. I don’t think Anna had that much hair until she was 2!

Reply

I’m going home to see my family this weekend! And running a last minute 5k tomorrow morning- that I found out about this morning! Love my family…! :)

I hate talking to strangers at the gym.. I feel so gross and weird. I get in and get out without much interaction with others.

I will always choose a gooey chocolate chip cookie over anything else…!

Reply

MMmmmm that spread of food looks amazing! I’ve got a long run planned for this weekend, and maybe some workout clothes shopping :)
I would pick to have an almond butter and chocolate chip cookie, those are sooooo good!

Reply

I always use to avoid talking to people at the gym.. I was there to workout- that was it. But in the past few months I’ve met some really hilarious girl friends who I now look forward to seeing EVERY time I go to the gym. It’s been fun… plus we are a little rowdy group so our instructors get a kick out of us.

Makes the time go by so quick.

Reply

My goodness Brooke gets cuter every day! So very sweet.

I’d give a lot of money for a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie right now…or better for a big hunk of cookie dough!

Reply

What restaurant is that? It looks delicious!

Brooke looks just like that niece! The amount of hair they have at that age is just incredible!

Reply

Mmmm an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie sounds fantastic! Your meal looked delicious…and I can totally relate to the tide stick! Happy Friday :)

Reply

The only friends I made at the gym were the older people who would walk on the treadmills at 530 in the morning; otherwise, I’m a really introverted exerciser. I wish I would be more outgoing in the way of talking to people so I could have workout partners! If I could have any kind of cookie it would be a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie with walnuts :)

Reply

i want allllll of that food! looks so good! hmmmm… i would like a warm chocolate chip cookie right now :)

Reply

My son spent several months with is tongue hanging out all the time. It was adorable and very drooly! :)

Reply

I’m looking forward to having no plans this weekend! My past two have been packed with stuff for my friend’s wedding, so now I get to relax!

I’d go for a warm, half cooked chocolate chip cookie :).

That pizza looks and sounds amazing. I might have to try to replicated it!

Reply

I had some friends in the gym when I lived in California. I don’t talk to people on the treadmill or stair master or anything like that. I normally like to be left alone there. A group class is more social. I’ll talk to people there.

Reply

I would have to say peanut butter chocolate chip cookie – always my favourite!

Reply

I am looking forward to sleeping IN this weekend!!! It has been go-go-go the last seven days so I am just ready to sleep more than six hours. I’m also supposed to go kayaking tomorrow–I haven’t been in ages so I’m pumped! :)

I prefer to stay in my own world at the gym but due to going for so many years around the same time there are people I’ve come to talk to and as long as the conversation is short ;) I don’t mind haha.

I actually would like a donut right now instead of a cookie. Cream filled, thank you.

Have a great Friday, Janae!! :)

Reply

OH MY GOSH.. I didn’t know cousins COULD look that much alike!

Reply

I just finished a 15-mile run, so any cookie sounds FABULOUS right now! I met one of my best friends in spin class almost 8 years ago. She was teaching the class, and we just clicked. Combined, we’ve been through four pregnancies together, lots of long runs, and even more long lunches! I’m looking forward to NO work and lots of play time with my girls this weekend.

Reply

Corn on pizza – looks so good! I want a snickerdoodle right now, and I never talk to anyone at the gym, but maybe I should. It sounds like people have met really great friends at their gyms!

Reply

They really are twins! And as for the whole tongue thing, Brooke’s just practicing for when you take her along on hard workouts/lift weights…for some reason whenever I’m doing strength training the same thing always happens to me :)

Reply

I’m pretty sure that 90% of my childhood pictures have my tongue out like that. If I was ever concentrating on anything, it would just be out and to the side. The other day, I was at work and I realized I had gotten so into what I was sketching that my tongue was out. Luckily, no one saw me!

Reply

I am looking forward to going flying with my boyfriend (he’s a pilot), and we’re flying with some friends for lunch on an island off the UK! feels so glam!

Reply

WOW! I can’t believe how much they look alike!! That’s crazy! Identical cousins….

Reply

Looking forward to sleeping in…even though I don’t work, I still have to wake up way too early.
I think I’ve met the majority of my friends at the gym…..

Reply

That pizza- it looks amazing! I’m headed to California this weekend to hang out with some family and ride some roller coasters! I could go for some just out of the oven chocolate chip cookies this morning – they make any day great!

Reply

Corn and goat cheese pizza sounds amazing!

Reply

I am looking forward to my bday party tonight!!!

Reply

That food looks sooooo yummy! I am looking forward to a long run on Saturday and a lot of relaxing.

I would have a Heath bar cookie! YUM YUM YUM

Reply

Great…now I HAVE to make cookies I’m craving them so badly. Fortunately, I think I make the best chocolate choppers AND have all the ingredients to make them in the house right now :) but I should prob wait until I’ve given the kids breakfast! Although I have been known to feed them dessert for breakfast ( lunch, dinner…) from time to time.

I love my gym. I spent a lot of time there and got to be really tight with two of the employees. They started to feel like family…even offering to help me out with my kids when I needed a hand.

There are definitely times when I have grooved on immersing myself in my kids’ learning moments..Brooke and the milk cap and her video yesterday are so reminiscent!

Reply

*chippers*! lol

Reply

Awww Brooke’s such a smartie, putting that cap on the milk! I love the concentration tongue, too. So cute. I just made lemon white chocolate chip cookies for my hubby, and they are my new favourite obsession. SO GOOOOOD.

New to your blog and want you to know I love it!
I’m training for a marathon and your enthusiasm is contagious. Just added you to my Feedly. Look forward to reading more.

Reply

Hey you! Thank you so much and keep me updated on your training!

Reply

That tongue! Such concentration- what a cutie!

I think I have a tide stick in every single purse/desk drawer because I cannot eat one meal without making a mess!! All of your food pics are making me hungry!!

I never used to be a gym talker- in and out with minimal eye contact. To prepare for Tough Mudder, I joined a metabolic conditioning type gym and at first, hated it. It was smaller and people were everywhere AND SUPER FRIENDLY!! So, it would be rude to try to avoid eye contact… After being there for a year and taking classes and workingout with the Tough Mudder team, I am kind of a gym talker now- but, time and place for everything! :)

I want all of the cookies. At this point, I don’t care. I am trying to get back on the clean eats wagon, and my sugar addiction is not happy. SO I will take all of the cookies please!

Reply

waiiiit a tick, i need that corn pizza in my life. where is it from? i would venture south to happy valley just for that! also, that tongue. get out of here. so cute!

Reply

Ohhh myy gosh. I want that pizza. Yesterday I had BOTH of my favorite cookies – peanut butter choc chunk, and oatmeal, almond, chocolate chip! SO GOOD!

Reply

AHH perfect timing. I literally have the largest zucchini in the world sitting at my house right now. I am going to need like 4 good recipes to kill this baby — and I was looking for a good cookie recipe :) How was it? Sounds amazing!

Reply

Many of my closest friends I have met at my gym. It’s a crossfit gym so it’s a smaller member base and it’s a real community feel. That’s one of the things I like most about it.

This weekend we have a wedding that I think is going to be a lot of fun. And I am going for a mani and pedi tonight and then out with a friend. I am going to take Monday off work and make it a nice long weekend.

BTW I couldn’t help but notice that Brooke has the cutest feet.

Reply

I’m looking forward to a half mara on Sunday at mara pace!
I don’t really talk in the gym, I think everyone just quietly works away with ear phones in. Not very social.
I really want a warm soft chewy white choc and macadamia cookie :-) xo

Reply

I am looking forward to the beach!

I go to the gym in my complex, so I meet me neighbors at the gym, which is nice!

I would want my mom’s oatmeal raisin cookies. No one makes them like she does!

Janae, I love your blog!

Reply

That feast!

I prefer to workout alone. I’m too easily distracted, and would just spend the whole time chatting of I went with friends or spoke to people.

Mmmm pizza!

Your niece & Brooke SO look alike. Too cute!

I met my best friend when she hired me to be her trainer at the gym! We got along great from the first day we met!

I would choose a snickerdoodle – I’m a sucker for them!

I’m looking forward to my spin class tomorrow and date day on Sunday!

If I could have any cookie right now it’d be a “ranger” cookie. My mom makes them: they’re jam-packed with coconut, rice krispies, and walnuts. Love.

Looking forward to spending the weekend with my sister, brother-in-law and two nephews who are here visiting from KS! Cannot wait to spend an awesome summer weekend with lots of golf, laughs and good times. Best thing yet…it’s a cutback for me running wise so I can enjoy a quick easy 6 miler tomorrow morning. My sister runs too but she is injured so won’t be running with her. She is the middle of training for Chicago but looking like it might not happen. =(
One more client and I’m done for the weekend!!!!

I always want to make friends in the gym but people don’t seem that friendly…

omg cookies I’ve been thinking about chocolate chip cookies for 29 hours uuuggghhh

Reply

They do look incredibly similar! I am most looking forward to my family coming to visit for the weekend. We never get enough time together so I’m always excited when they come to town!

Hi Janae! <3

I have decided I NEED pizza in my life this weekend! I would have never thought to put corn on pizza! But, I had a baked potato pizza a few weeks ago (pizza w/baked potato, sour cream, chives, cheese and bacon) and it was delicious!! So maybe this would be good too! I do love some goat cheese, too!

I can't get over the resemblance between your niece and Brooke! Like they are twins!

Reply

I don’t think I’ve made any friends at the gym, but I’ve made a lot of friends through running groups!

I’m looking forward to a weekend at a lake house up in Wisconsin…but first I have to get through an 18 mile run tomorrow morning!

Reply

I’ve never talked to people at the gym that haven’t talked to me first. I’m really shy! I’m thinking about signing up for some spin and yoga classes this fall though, so maybe I’ll be better about it this time haha

My favorite type of cookie is peanut butter, oatmeal chocolate chip. They’re SO good! Or a snickerdoodle. Anything rolled in sugar and cinnamon is delicious.

Hope you have a great weekend, Janae <3

Just one word: TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE!

I love meeting new friends at gym or at the running club we go to.

Thanks for my daily Janae and Brooke fix :-) This weekend will be a fun one. Tomorrow is my birthday and after our 6 1/2 mile run in the morning, hanging out with friends and a Kid Rock concert at night. Boating with friends on Sunday. Janae, if you don’t me asking , where did you and your friends eat? looks really good!??

Oh man. I just had corn on pizza for the first time last week and it was so good! It was a cheese and pesto base with summer vegetables. I was wary but it won me over big time!

Hope you have an amazing weekend!

Aww Brooke is so cute :) And she and her cousin DO look so much alike!! They both have beautiful mamas too!

Cousins are the absolute best, so I am so glad that Brooke has such sweet-seeming ones! Love your blog, Janae, you are an inspiration: both with your consistency and hard work in running AND with your absolute love of your beautiful daughter. :)

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnddddddd I would go with a warm chocolate chip cookie. Or five. those always win me over.

Reply

I have tried to make friends at the gym but no one is ever very chatty. Especially in classes! I find people are very serious about getting ‘their spot’ and getting it done. I wish people were more chatty!

Reply

A gooey peanut butter cookie for sure!! That one recipe with just pb, sugar, and an egg. Hands down the best pb cookie recipe ever! I know, I know… I have an obsession with pb… ;)

Reply

I haven’t seen corn on a pizza since I had it in Italy years ago. It was delicious.

Brooke looks just like your niece!!! Unbelievable!
We are headed back from camp today. We had such an awesome week! I can’t wait to go through my pictures and do a post on my log about it! Now for the not so fun 8 hour car ride home!
Chocolate chip cookies all the way!

Oh what a great way to end the day! I love talking to tons of people at the gym! I’m probably a distraction! And cookies? Oatmeal or peanut butter! Those sound yum!

Reply

This weekend I’m excited to explore a new city in Indiana! I checked out their farmers market and it was amazing. Right now I would love a (or 10) white chocolate macadamia nut cookie with a big glass of milk :)

I’m drooling over that ice cream sandwich with fudge right now… and ANY cookies are good with me. But, if I could have anything, it would be a monster cookie :)

Reply

YUM!! Where is that??

Reply

That cookie recipe sounds amazing!! I make brownies with zucchini in them and they are super moist, so I’m sure those cookies were to die – run – for!! I HAVE to try that recipe!

Reply

I love Brooke sticking her tongue out! It must help her think better. Too cute.

I’m looking forward to my long run. It’s not long compared to most people, but I’m making progress. I’m also seeing a lot 0f difference since I’ve been on Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp.

Where is that pizza from? I need it…and the corn!!!

After 15 years of travelling the USA and Western Canada for work/life I am moving into my very first purchased home, located in my home province of BEAUTIFUL BC BABY. I am so excited.

I am making that corn pizza madness as soon as I am unpacked!

Baked goods and I don’t have a tight relationship (more on the salt side of the spectrum) BUT I would just love to have one my mom’s amazing peanut butter cookies in my espresso.

Have a great weekend, yourself!
