Don’t even ask me how Brookers is already 11 months old.  I think someone is playing a cruel trick on me and making time go by way too fast.

Brooke is definitely our little best buddy and makes everything we do that much more fun because seeing her reactions to life is the best.

DSC 4945

Her favorite foods at 11 months old are edamame, popsicles, grapes (red grapes), salmon, sweet potatoes, broccoli (I knew I loved her) and bites of my oatmeal.  Actually pretty much anything I am eating is her favorite.    Oh yeah, we can’t feed her, SHE has to feed herself.  She is a very independent little soul.

DSC 4989

She needs a dog.  She loves them more and more every day.

DSC 1309

She loves her little voice and makes sure to join in on our conversations (she is in a screaming phase right now to get our attention).

DSC 4606

She just started waving and it is the cutest thing you have ever seen.

DSC 5024

Just one more month until her BEACH BALL PARTY themed birthday.  It is going to be a good time.

Brooke’s schedule at a glance:

-Sleeping from 9:30-10ish pm to 7:30 am (lately she has been wanting a bottle at about 5 am and then she falls back asleep).

-Play, eat breakfast, bath, read and then a nap from 10-12.

-Go do errands, meet up with friends, go swim or to the park.

-Nap from 4-5:30ish.

-Dinner, play some more, practice her walking (she will be doing it on her own any day now) and hang out on the floor with us until bedtime.

I really like her schedule right now and when I think back to those first few months of her life I wonder how in the world Brooke and I survived on only 2-3 hours of sleep at a time… survival mode:)

My question for moms reading:  Where do you buy your kiddos clothes at?  I feel like Brooke is going through clothes at lightening speed and I am looking for more affordable places to go (I mainly just go to Target and Old Navy)….wondering what you guys do!

Any moms in survival mode right now?  What are your sleeping hours like?

Anyone have kids that went through a screaming phase? How long did it last?

Brooke definitely needs a dog! Every kid needs one :). I didn’t have one until I was 10, so I was definitely deprived. Now I’m strangely obsessed with my dog.

She is gorgeous!!!! Time goes so fast, doesn’t it.

I generally buy my little boy’s clothes at Target and Old Navy for the same reasons you said. I also like to hunt out consignment stores/sales and see if there’s anything a bit nicer there. His church shirts/shoes come from consignment stores. There’s a nice one in San Jose called Ubyan which we went to once, I really liked it.

I’m jealous she feeds herself. My little boy is nearly 4 (ish) and still wants us to feed him. He has until his birthday and then he’s on his own! Grrr….

Reply

You are the best…I am going to have to try out Ubyan asap. When is his bday again?

Nov 20th…he has a while to get himself into gear!

So so so cute! I would imagine this age is so much fun as she is learning to talk, walk, eat new foods, etc.!

Hunter is about 3.5 months old now and is sleeping through the night, so I’m one happy mama. You’re right, those first couple months can be pretty brutal!

As for clothes, I haven’t had to do much clothes shopping yet for Hunter since he got so much from baby showers and such, but it seems like Old Navy & Target are your best bet for affordable options. I also signed up for Carter’s email list, and you get incredible coupons all the time. They have some great sales too!

Reply

I also forgot to mention “Kid to Kid”… Not sure if they have those in California, but they are a consignment shop and my friend finds adorable name brand stuff there all the time for super cheap!

Reply

Love Kid to Kid! But, any consignment store or sale will do :) I refuse to spend a lot on clothes at this stage because they go thru them soooo fast (but sometimes things are just too cute and I have to buy them, no matter how much they are….ha!!!). I’m basically the last of my friends to have a baby though so I’ve been REALLY lucky to get tons of hand-me-downs…I haven’t had to buy too much yet.

Reply

LOVE Kid to Kid also! There is a great one on Homestead Rd. in Santa Clara. Plus, look up Outrageous Outgrowns. They have an awesome sale twice a year of used kids clothes, toys, gear, ect. in San Jose. Hope that helps! I have two little girls, so we are always looking for deals, lol!

Reply

Once they hit the toddler sizes they don’t go through them quite as quickly which is nice. I usually just bought the basics, nothing fancy, and made do with a smallish wardrobe so I didn’t spend a fortune every tiny size. Of course I had boys so it’s a lot easier.

I think all moms are in survival mode. Seriously. Just when you learn to deal with one thing those creative little cuties come up with something else!

janae! i’m TOTALLY in survival mode with 7 week old (!) declan. he’s up every 2-3 hours at night wanting to eat. i usually feed him around 10 and then put him down for the night. he wakes up around 1 to eat and then again at 4 and then AGAIN around 6! i usually try to get him to go back to sleep after the 6am feeding because i feel like a zombie but i’m rarely successful. this morning i was lucky because he slept until 930am! i feel like a new woman! i dream of the day when he sleeps through the night. it’s going to be heaven.

Reply

I love your little boys name! Oh girl, I am so so sorry that you aren’t sleeping right now. Just know that it gets SOOOOO MUCH BETTER. Just get through this time and before you know it you will be sleeping again. So happy he let you sleep in the other day.

Reply

yes, i’m definitely just trying to enjoy every minute with him now because i know that before i know it he’s going to be a stinky teenager! :)

Reply

Just sending some encouragement to you Colleen! :) I have a 10 month old and man, those first 12 weeks were brutal! Looking back on it I have no idea how I survived on such little sleep. Hang in there!

Reply

thanks tiffany! brutal is a perfect word to describe this time! thanks for the encouragement! :)

Have you looked into secondhand stores for clothes? I don’t have kids, but my cousins swear there are excellent, affordable , and CLEAN secondhand kids’ clothes stores that make more sense than buying new clothes all the time.

Reply

I buy most of my little guy’s clothes at ….Goodwill. His wardrobe is 65% babygap and I never pay more than $1.99 for it. I also love Target and Old Navy too if I am looking for something specific, like needs shorts now. I usually buy staple items at Goodwill in larger sizes and wash and pack them away until I need them.

She is so dang cute. Am I invited to her 1st birthday? Cause I feel like I need to be there ;) Her party theme sounds super cute.

Whenever I think back to those first few months after having a baby, I wonder how anyone makes it out alive! Or whenever my kids are sick and we are up throughout the night I wonder how we did this day in and day out for months at a time.

I love when I see Brookers wearing the clothes I got her :) I love Old Navy, Gap, Crazy 8, Target – anywhere with great deals and clothes that hold up. I used to buy nearly ALL of my kids clothes at 77 kids (American Eagle for kids) because I thought they were so dang cute, I got killer deals and they were well made – but they are no more and it makes me sad.

Be careful – before you know it it will be her 1st birthday and then you will blink and she will be starting 1st grade. It is crazy.

For affordable clothing, i try to buy clothes ahead of time. I know for a lot of people this does not work very well. For my two kids, it worked great. I still buy clothes ahead of time. Right now I am buying clearance summer clothes for next year for my kids (4 and 6), but I have done this since they were born. I LOVE crazy 8 and gymboree, but also like old navy and jcp. I rarely buy things for over 5 dollars, and i always google search for coupon codes before ordering! It gets crazy expensive to buy cute clothes!

Reply

I love both of those ideas! I always forget about coupon codes too. Thanks so much Katie!

Reply

http://www.carters.com is my favourite place for baby clothes! They have amazing clearance sales! After reading all of these comments I guess I should be extremely thankful my 5 month old sleeps from 8 pm – 7 am most nights!

Reply

Awesome! Thanks Kerri! WOW…your 5 month old is rocking it!

My 5 month old still gets up every 3 hours to feed so I am extremely jealous of you!!! Oh well, we all survive ;)

Enjoy every moment of these days with Brooke-said the mother who’s youngest leaves for the Navy tomorrow. It goes way to fast-and when the days get really busy when she’s a little older? They will go so fast you have to work to keep up-but you’ll do great!

Also when you get a dog teach it to run with you! I wish I had done that.

I am still in survival mode and my son is 10.5 months! Last night was particularly cruel – Evan decided to take up our entire bed and then wake up and cry every time he rolled over and bumped into me (he sleeps part of the night in our bed). He is on the little side so our pediatrician said to keep up night feedings until he’s one so that means I put him down at 8:30pm, he wakes up at 12:45am and I feed him and bring him into our bed (then I can feed him during the night much easier), he wakes up two or three more times during the night, I wake up at 4:30am and wake him up at 6am. Boo. I might need to take a nap at my desk today!

And Evan has been in a screaming mode for months. He screams in happiness though, not anger or frustration (yet). So he’ll be babbling along and happy as can be and then belts out the highest pitch scream ever and then smiles the biggest smile. It is so cute, especially since you can see all his muscles tighten in an effort to scream. It is not cute in church or restaurants though. I have not disciplined him as of yet because I don’t think he’s doing it to be bad, he’s just experimenting with his voice (in my opinion).

We have a big, white, fluffly, 70 pound dog and Evan loves him. His favorite thing to do is chew on the dog toys and pull out the dog’s fur and eat it. Lovely. The dog’s favorite thing to do is ignore him.

How did our babies get so big???

Also, I buy a lot of my clothes at Tot Swaps – they are really big consignment sales. There are two a year in my neighborhood – one in the spring and one in the fall. I buy a bunch of clothes for the season each time I go. Most things are only $1 or $2 and are in great condition.

Reply

I love getting Izzy’s clothes at Gymboree and crazy 8 when there are coupons. I always find great deals there. By the time I apply the coupon the clothes are usually priced like Target prices, but I wait for them to go on sale too.

Reply

I second this! They also do gym bucks and if you get stuff on sale from the previous season it can be like $3 an item!

Reply

Oh and I meant to tell you, it slows down. At first they are going through clothes at lightning speed like you said, but they don’t grow so fast once they’re a little older and can actually wear the stuff you buy them more than once!

Reply

I know!!! Love when you can find the shorts and tops for under $5!!! I go crazy and usually get them a little big and then she can wear them a lot longer.

Reply

my how time has flown by! She has grown so much over the year!

My little guy, Archie, is 9.5 months old and he sleeps from 7 pm-7:30 to 8 am depending on the day. We love having those few hours after he goes to bed to ourselves so we can catch up on the day and veg!

Target is the only place I’ve bought clothes so far. They grow so fast! It makes me sad just thinking about it. Where does the time go?

Reply

I have two boys…my oldest is 21 months and my baby is 7 weeks. I go to a TON of garage sales!!! Also consignment stores and second hand. I am very picky but you can find awesome things. I also go on zulily.com for unique kids clothes and toys. I usually stay away from target unless I hit the sale racks because I’ve found it’s not really that cheap. And of course, I love old navy:)

As for my sleep schedule…it’s very minimal. My 7 week old is up at midnight, 3, 5 and 730 to eat:( he naps from 830ish to 10 then on and off from about 1130-130 and 2-4ish. Of course he eats on demand during those hours. He’s usually alert and active from about 5-830 and then it’s bath, nurse and bedtime.
My 21 month old is up at 7, naps from 1-4 and then bedtime around 830/9.
I try to nap when both boys are sleeping but it rarely works that I get more than half an hr:(. In general I get 6 hours of sleep but never all at once. It’s crazy!!!

My oldest did a screaming thing before he could verbalized what he wanted and now he still sometimes let’s out screams of excitement so that’s interesting:) oh the joys of parenting!

Brooke is so adorable!!! Enjoy this time…it is such a fun age!!!

I’m totally in survival mode at present… between fulltime work and an almost-4-month old… we are super busy!!

Clearance at JCP is currently my go-to– tons of supercute Carters outfits for <$5

Reply

In those first months with my twins I got 45 mins of sleep a night. Total. Talk about survival mode!! Now I’m pregnant again (with 1 baby!) and I’m looking forward to getting stretches of 2-3 hrs of sleep with a new baby! It’s all about perspective haha.

Wow. I seriously can’t even imagine.

What a cutie!

Now the fun really begins :-) Especially when she starts walking :-D

I found that Max’s growth slowed right down at 12 months, even though his growth chart says otherwise. We were in size 12 months clothing for quite some time. Now we are at 18 months clothing, but still wear some 12 month stuff. I only buy clothes as I need it – so Max really only has enough outfits for the week. I buy almost all my clothes from Carters or Old Navy. I like Old Navy when they have the 30% off everything kids sale and the free shipping.

Reply

oh and Max is still screaming!

Max goes to bed at 7-7:30pm and wakes up around 6am-7am. Very rarely does he sleep past 7. But he is happy as a clam sitting in his bed talking to his stuffies for a few minutes though. Except this morning when he was calling “Mama?? Mama?? MAMA?!?!”. He only wakes up during the night when he is sick – like this weekend when I had to sleep on the floor beside his crib – YAY

Reply

I always buy mine at Old Navy or Target. The other place is consignment shops. A lot of the clothes are still in great condition and some even have tags from the regular store on them still. I got my older son’s Christmas sweater for $4.95 last year and it had the regular tag on it that said $24.99. Steal!
My oldest’s screaming phase didn’t last very long. It’s worse now actually because it’s more high pitched than it was and he’s 2.5! Hopefully she’ll grow out of it soon and then all the words start.

Love seeing Brooke’s schedule. Fun to see what other babies and their moms are up to :) My daughter is 7 months now and thank god we’re past the newborn stage. I shop at babyGap mostly, they always have great sales and stuff on sale regularly.

Reply

I nanny for twins and their mom gets most of their clothes at: TJ MAXX, Babies R US, Kohls, and department stoes of malls always have sales and good brands! The twins schedule is almost like Brooke’s, except they go to bed around 8 and sleep until 7:30. Our nap times are pretty similiar though! :)

Reply

Super jealous of some of you mamas with sleeping babies! My son Cam has never been a good sleeper or napper; at 8 months he is down for 10-11 hours at night with 3-4 feedings (I know, I know…); and 2 shortish naps during the day. He just can’t stand to miss out on anything! He has just started screaming too – right now it is really pretty cute, but ask me again how I feel about it in a month.

As for clothes… first off, I never pay full price for anyting. Nothing. I buy about 60-70% of his wardrobe at mom-to-mom sales, not sure if they have those by you. Moms usually charge $1-2 per item/outfit for clothes in great condition, sometimes a couple dollars more for really nice outfits or high-end brands. Some of the stuff is washed but never worn. I also just went shopping for clothes for next summer, since there is a lot on clearance right now. I got quite a few pieces from Kohls and Crazy 8s for $2-4 each. Babies R Us has good deals when they have 50% off their already clearanced items too.

Reply

Shop consignment! I have 2 year old b/g twins. you can get gently used name brand stuff for a fraction of the price. Kids outgrow stuff so fast it is the best of both- affordable and great brands.

My 9.5 month old boy sleeps from 6:30-6:30. Naps from 9:30-10:30/11 and then 1:30/2-3/3:30. I love that he loves to feed himself too! I just have to keep the dogs because I didn’t realize how many food dogs are allergic besides chocolate, like grapes. That wasn’t fun. My mom gets us a ton of clothes for him from consignment shops and we’ve gotten a ton of hand me downs from friends. Being the first grandchild on both sides we’ve been very blessed and I’ve hardly bought him any clothes. My friends also says the outlets malls are great. There’s a Carter’s outlet by me in SoCal and they have great prices there.

Reply

I get clothes for my kids at Kohl’s. Sometimes you can find good deals, buy a year ahead when they are have the season on clearance. Use coupons, etc.

Reply

Such a fun post!! :) I did survival mode for the first month and really struggled! But since then, we’ve been blessed with a fairly good sleeper (and I’m still a big believer in the “Moms on Call” book). We just dropped the swaddle for nighttime sleeping this weekend, and Addie’s done really well with the transition. She’s sleeping 10-11 hours a night, which is a HUGE blessing and we are so thankful!

Reply

One of my major tips for clothing is to hit up the end of summer sales and bulk up in sizes for next yr, now! I did that with my first born and could purchase so much more by buying ahead. (children’s place outlet was our favorite back then)

I can’t believe Brooke is almost a year! I found your blog when you were expecting, it has been so much fun to watch all the changes!

Reply

I buy my boys’ clothes at children’s place or Carter’s. they both offer tons coupons if you sign up for their email. With their awesome deals their clothes end up being cheaper than target or Walmart, and are way cuter and better quality! :)

Reply

Brooke is so cute! I buy a lot of clothes at Children’s Place, Carter’s, and Osh Gosh at an outlet mall. I shop the sales and clearance as well as shopping for the next year ahead of time. I also go to places like Ross or Marshalls. I usually buy nice dress clothes for church at a consignment sale. Nothing beats getting an Easter dress for my little girl for $5 rather than paying full price!

Reply

Old Navy’s clearance is my favorite for new clothes, but honestly I love shopping at kiddy consignment stores. They’re pretty picky about what they take condition-wise and the prices are about what you’d find at Goodwill without having to dig through EVERYTHING.

Reply

I bought a lot of my daughters clothes off e-bay. You can find name brand items for pretty cheap. Plus thrift stores, consignment stores and hand-me-downs. :-)

Reply

Welcome to the Mommy Time Warp, where time has accelerated to hyper light speed. Don’t blink! Can’t wait to see pics of the Beach Ball themed birthday party. Sounds awesome!

Love all of the tips for saving on clothes. I’m somewhat addicted to children’s clothes and love to buy during end-of-season sales to stock up for the next year. Kohl’s is a great place to find good deals, and they always have printable coupons for an extra 15-30% off. Kohl’s Jumping Beans brand has some pretty cute (and affordable) stuff. I love Old Navy & Target too. If you have a Carter’s or Osh Kosh outlet near you, you can find some incredible deals!

Reply

New mommy here! She eats every 2 hours and likes to eat for almost a full hour at a time! Add in a diaper change and some soothing and we sleep for just under an hour at a time before it starts all over again… It’s tiring but I wouldn’t change a thing. I love our midnight hours together:) we get our clothes from Once Upon A Child, a second hand store that only sells things that are still in great condition and way affordable!! A plus is you can sell stuff to them and get store credit too! Other than that I like Gymboree (great sales, get on their email list), old baby and Target!

Reply

Target, Gymboree, Crazy 8, Old navy – my secret = buy clothes for next summer now while they’re on clearance.

Reply

I was always a big fan of Target when my kiddos were small but also liked The Children’s Place and Carters, too. Both of those places always have great coupons and you can get stuff for a steal!!! I never bothered with consignment shops because I always felt like they were overpriced. I would rather pay a couple dollars more and get the new stuff!!!

Reply

Do you have any friends or friends of friends with little girls that you could do a clothing swap with? I think for little ones like we have (mine is 13 months old), there is nothing wrong with second hand apperal!

Reply

Okay, Brooke is the cutest. The end.

Reply

She is adorable! I can’t believe she is 11 months old already! I actually used to work at Target and I would always look at the kids section even though I don’t have any kids because the clothes and items were always so cute!!

Reply

I get clothes for my kids dirt cheap. As they get older and you can predict sizing for the next season it is cool to get things on clearance at the end of the season. I often get jeans at Target on clearance for $1.50. Last spring I got long sleeve shirts at Old Navy on clearance for 75 cents to 2.00. In anycase I love the consignment sales. In our area they start at the end of Sept. and go to the first week in November. In the spring they are from March to end of April. I love the 50% off last day sales that many of them have. Last year I went to a yardsale and I got 10 pieces of gymboree and hannah anderson items for $5 total. Children’s place and Gymboree have awesome clearances. I never pay full price for kids clothes, I always head straight to clearance or sales. Oh and just by posting this you may have someone offer to send you some handme downs! We are done so I am into consigning our outgrown stuff and last year I basically broke even with how much I spent for the season and how much i made!

Reply

Brooke is not already 11 months old. Impossible! I remember that you had her just a few months before I gave birth, and your whole birth story was so inspiring.

I get baby clothes from Gymboree (online & the outlet nearby), Carter’s, Kohl’s, Target, Old Navy, Baby GAP, and Buy Buy Baby. :)

Reply

Actually sometimes you can find really good deals on ebay! Sometimes I would get some really great lots of clothes that were practcally new for cheap! I used to try to buy my kids clothes ahead on clearance! Childrens Place has good deals too sometimes!
My kids are 9 and 11 so I hope I am not in survival mode! But actually we have been so busy the last 10 days or so that I was sleeping like 12:30 or so till 6 or 6:30 and it is totally catching up to me. I have no idea how new moms that run do it!!! I guess I did it to but I am definitely better with 7.5-8 hours a night!!!
Beach ball party!!!!!! AWESOME!!!! I found this awesome beach ball fruit tray on pinterest!!!! I will have ot show it you!!!!

My son will be 11 months in 9 days. We buy most of his clothes at baby consignment/thrift stores. Garage sales are good, too. It only comes with tags if it was a gift/on clearance/super sale. LOL Also try looking for swaps near you. Those are THE BEST deals. Oh, and look for local facebook yard sale pages.

As far as sleeping habits he sleeps 7:00pm-6am(ish). Sucks on the weekend, but necessary during the week for having breakfast before going to daycare. Lately he spends a good 15-30 minutes playing in his crib before going to sleep. Fine with me as long as he isn’t crying/screaming. It sometimes sucks that he goes to bed so early when we want to do things, but he’s a bit flexible so we occasionally do the early dinner out. It is really nice to have a few hours to ourselves/myself after he goes to bed.

Still on two 1.5-2 hr naps per day around 2-2.5 hours after he wakes up and then 3-4 hrs after his first nap. That’s on the weekends. At daycare he doesn’t nap well. He moves up to the next room in a month and everyone naps at the same time on a mat. That should be interesting.

He ate veggies no problem when they were pureed, but not having a lot of luck with green veggies now that he’s feeding himself. VERY frustrating. I even purposely avoided fruits for months to get him used to veggies. He refuses to even put anything green in his mouth. :( Thank God for pouches. LOL

Reply

She’s growing up so quick!!! So adorable & love watching her grow.

I usually get my grandbabies clothes a really good cheap way – but you have to stay ahead of the game… go to Kohl’s when they have clearance & get the season that is going out – so you’d buy for summer NEXT year. I’m talking clothes for change. I actually do that myself for all my running clothes because I hate to pay full price for winter gear especially. So every summer, I’m buying running jackets for 80% off & store them up for the next winter… just keep a box of keep all the next season in… & then when you pull them out again, its like a whole new surprise :)

Reply

For my kids clothes I’m always scoping out the clearance racks at children’s place outlets, gapkids outlet, target, crazy 8 (one of my FAV’s lately – there’s always a coupon, too), and sometimes old navy. my goodwill and second hand clothes near me are expensive and really crappy clothes. Super used and yuck. I have had great luck with garage sales, though. Just go to a nicer neighborhood – I’ve found some awesome things. And I ditto what someone else said about wearing the clothes for longer once they hit 12-18 months.

the best thing is to find a friend who is done having kids and gives you the clothes – that’s always awesome.

Happy 11 months to Brooke! We are currently in the screaming/jabbering phase with our 11 month old. She usually does it when Jordan or I are talking to each other or with someone else. I think she wants to be a part of the conversation :) I’ll let you know when (if) it ends.

We buy her clothes at Target and Old Navy too. It seems like we are buying a new wardrobe every month. I’ve gotten a lot of hand-me-downs from family and friends which helps.

Reply

She is SO CUTE! I’m really not even a kid-lovin’ kind of gal but Brooke is beyond adorable!

Reply

My little guy is in his screaming phase right now. I have no idea how to handle it. I just ignore it when he’s at home, but when we’re out and about, especially in quieter places, I go ssssh, and sometimes he likes to copy me. (He’s 14 months.)
Naps now are from 10-12ish and from 3-4ish. Sometimes his morning naps run long, like 9-1 and he doesn’t take an afternoon nap.

I was very blessed in that he was sleeping 7 hours at a time at 3 months and through the night by 6 months (12 hours.) I also did Babywise until he was 1 year, but sometimes things work for some people that don’t work for others. Every baby is precious and different! I was thankful that he was sleeping that much because I went back to teaching when he was 3 months.

We have 3 miniature schnauzers who hover around him when he eats. He thinks it’s the funniest things in the world to throw food at them. He just started today holding food down low so the dogs can stand on their hind legs to eat out of his hands, and he cracked up for minutes on end. He’s an independent eater too and won’t let me feed him, unfortunately for me, but great for the dogs! =D

Clothes-we get them from anywhere and everywhere. I go straight for the sale racks at Target, Old Navy, Wal-Mart, BabiesRUs, and BuyBuyBaby. We buy things for him that he’ll wear in a year and 6 months and buy things for now. We also had two family members just give us all their old baby clothes which was AWESOME! He has more clothes than I do (which really isn’t saying much because I have more running clothes than real clothes.)

Reply

My son (13 months old) never screamed, but he has started swatting to get our attention or when he’s frustrated. We’ve been trying to break him of this habit because it can easily turn into hitting.

For clothes, I would recommend consignment stores. There’s one in San Jose on Union avenue called The Kidz Shoppe. It’s awesome! You can get some great clothes, shoes, toys, and books with little wear because at that age, kids barely wear their clothes before they outgrow them. I also go to Target and Old Navy, but have bought my son a ton of stuff at The Kidz Shoppe. Check it out! (No, I don’t have any ownership rights, I just really like it.)

We shop at Carter’s for clothes for our little guy. They have very reasonable prices and the clothes are great quality! Always have good sales going on too.
I am in survival mode now with my 5 week old! It is tough but I love it. It is a good thing he is so cute!!!
I can’t believe Brooke is 11 months old. So crazy. When I started following your blog she was just 5 months old. I feel like I know you two! And just watching her grow is so fun!

I love target sales…so cute! But I really like Children’s Place. I get it all online and ships free over $75 (too easy to do). They have sales often, and pretty good quality for how cheap you can get “play clothes” (and my favorite place for swimming suits thus far).

11 months old! Wow – I love the first picture, she looks so excited and thrilled with life!

Brooke is just the cutest! I love those pigtails.
My little boy is almost 5 months and we have just come out of a ‘survival mode’ phase… Thank goodness! Back to a full night’s sleep again. We live in NZ but buy a lot of clothes online. We just wait until there is free delivery and get lots of things then :)

It is CRAZY how fast they go through clothes! Enjoy the last month of having an under one year old :)

Definitely in survival mode with a 7 week old who is just starting to sleep longer and a three year old who has decided waking up in the night and not taking naps is the new trend. Old Navy and target are the best for clothes. Now if I can just get a run in a couple times a week:)

I’m sure you don’t get sick of hearing this so Brooke is ADORABLE! I’d love to see a video of her waving I bet it is the cutest!!

I have a 4.5 week old…Survival mode for sure! Although last night she gave me 4.5 hours and then 3.5 hours of sleep at a time. It was amazing :)

Target, Kohls, and this huge consignment sale, Just Between Friends. They have it twice a year in my area and I go and score HUGE deals on name brands (like $5 for a gymboree or gap outfit!). You should google it and see if they have their sales in your area.

And Children’s Place and lots of hand me downs. I will pay people $20 for a bag of clothes any day!

She could not be any cuter!! I’ve found that responding to the screaming in a more quiet than usual volume helps to tone it down. I guess we are still in survival mode at 22 months and counting! B is up several times a night every night but I guess I’ve just adapted because I mostly feel fine!

I have a 4 month old. Around 2 months she would wake once or twice for a feeding, but lately she’s been getting up 3 or 4 times a night! She also talks really loud in her sleep. Almost like she’s crying or screaming sometimes off and in for an hour so of course I’m up then too. Anyone else have a baby that talks in their sleep?

so my son has been a screamer since day one. my daughter was also. it happened a lot in the car. most babies love to sleep in the car. not my children. my daughter is great now (5) but my 3 yr old still screams quite a bit. and he is high and loud! but i work with him. we do deep breathing together and now i’ve noticed him doing deep breathing on his own when he gets worked up. a work in progress.

as for clothes, my family (cousin hand-me downs, a mother-in-law who loves to thrift store shop and my own mom who is a whiz with macy’s and all the baby chain stores clearance racks) we are plenty stocked up. but if i do need something specific – recently it was soccer shoes for the boy, i checked out our local thrift shop and $5.99 later we’re all set. they look brand new too. so i would check out gently used stores – see if there’s a once upon a child nearby or other baby consignment shop. good luck!

I swear Brooke gets cuter everyday! I have a 12 week old and already can’t believe how much he has changed and how much he grows!

We get most of his clothes from Target also, but occasionally Kohl’s too. He usually goes to sleep around 10ish and then wakes up once to eat. I feel pretty lucky but admit to looking forward to when he sleeps through the night.

Kids’ clothes – I don’t know if you have them in CA, but it’s been a godsend to me: Once Upon a Child. It’s a gently used kids clothes and gear store and it’s so cheap! I find tons of higher-end brand name stuff for pennies and I buy school and play clothes there all the time. Great place for what you’re talking about, like when your baby is growing so quickly you don’t want to spend $$$ on clothes, or as in my case when I want to stock up on basics (jeans, etc.). If you have one or will be near one check it out!

Carters Outlet! They have huge sales almost every weekend and you can print a 20% off coupon online. When my daughter was brand new I bought 33 outfits for $120 (plus they give you a punch card worth $10 off next purchase depending on how much you get. It’s crazy what combining a sale, clearance and coupons can do at Carters. Only on clothes though from my experience none of the accessories like socks, tights, headbands, shoes or toys are that good of a deal.

I buy V’s clothes on clearance super cheap in sizes in advance from Children’s Place, Crazy 8, etc. I have shopped at Kohls to get Carter’s stuff when I have the $10 coupon off $10 or more.

You should check out H&M’s kid line!! I’ve gotten amazing stuff on clearance. Like a whole outfit for $8. It’s amazing!!!

My little guy is 9 months old today. I’m so thankful to be out of survival mode. He sleeps from about 7pm-7am, every once in a while he wants a bottle at 4 or 5am. Then he naps at 9 and 2 for 1-2 hours. It’s a pretty good schedule for me!

He’s just starting to be super screachy, I hope it doesn’t last!!

I go to the nicer suburbs nearby and hit up their Goodwill stores and “mom swap” sales (usually you can find these sales advertised in the newspapers or through a google search). You can get really cute, affordable stuff in great condition… a lot of times with the tags still on even!

I’m definitely in survival mode here – my baby girl is 5 weeks old and has been keeping me on my toes by wanting to eat every 1 1/2 hours during the day and every 2 hours at night. I swear growth spurts aren’t supposed to last a week straight but I don’t know what the heck else it could be?! Hard to believe Brooke is 11 months already, I know I am going to be a mess when mine turns 1 (I was a mess already when she rolled over FIVE TIMES yesterday… way too soon).

Janae, go to children’s place or crazy 8’s (do they have those in Cali?) and check out their clearance racks!! Always darling stuff for WAY cheap!! It’s like my little secret. I never pay full price for my baby’s clothes! Good luck, she is a doll!!

Have you ever tried shopping at Marshall’s? They actually have a pretty good kids and I&T selection, it’s where I’ve been going to get baby shower gifts lately!

Brooke is so adorable. I can’t believe she’s almost 1!

I buy all my boys’ clothes at Carters, Gymboree, Crazy 8, and Kohls. The first three have the best quality! We have a nearby outlet mall that has the Carters and Gymboree and I pick up most of their clothing items for $3-10 a piece. It’s cheaper than Target.

Brooke is so cute, I love that open mouth scream/smile she’s always giving you/us. But if you have a facebook account, search for baby selling groups in your area, I belong to about 4 in my area (Southern California), so I’m sure they have them in your area too. They ALWAYS have WAY more girl clothes then boy clothes and are usually $3 a piece or so, sometimes when people want to get rid of stuff they sell them for $1 a piece…check it out, I’ve bought several clothing items for my son. Also agree with previous person when they say they buy the sale racks for next season. That helps. Girl clothes are usually easier to find then boy. I’m going to be in trouble when my little girl comes in September! Having a boy really saves me money because cute clothes (that are on the cheaper side – I refuse to pay $30 for a pair of jeans) are hard to come by.

She is absolutely gorgeous! :) im not a mom, but i do have my aunt in San Carlos (and three little cousins (or at least they were little)) and I know that H&M in San Francisco has a whole store just for kids clothing and they are pretty cheap (#beendressedinH&Mclothessincebirth ;)).

i don’t have a kiddo, but i DO have an awesome niece, and i’ve scored big in the clearance section of t.j. maxx! stuff for $2- $10 that’s supercute and name-brand.

congrats to you and billy– you’ve done an amazing job thus far!

Carters!! You can get great Carter’s stuff at Costco and we all know how much you love Costco!! Get on their coupon list and you’re set. I’ve bought TONS of stuff there.

Carters online. We have a Carters outlet near us, so it is convenient, but I’ve looked online and some of the sale items are super cheap, like $3.99 for an outfit!

A friend of mine got a lot of clothes from swaps or garage sales, also from friends that have older kids and have lots of clothes that she’s outgrown – they go through them so fast!

About 75% of my sons clothes come from consignment shops/big consignment sales. You can get stuff that is in really good condition for a much cheaper price. The rest of his clothes usually come from Children’s Place, Kohl’s and Target. I usually only buy when it’s on sale AND I have a coupon.

I buy a lot of my kids clothes on consignment also; my MIL is a very big consignment shop fanatic so she always finds the best buys!

I can’t believe the girls are almost a year old! I love little Brooke so much. Can’t wait for the beach party!

I had 3 girls and my youngest is just about 2 so I have tons of clothes that you could have! I have them all boxed up by size even. =)

I am in survival mode with a four week old :) Last night she slept for four hours straight which was incredible. Naps are my saving grace. Typical night: eat around 9-10pm, sleep 10pm-1:30am, eat 1:30-2:00am, sleep 2:00-4:30am, eat 4:30-5:00am, sleep 5:00-7:00am. During the day she takes about four naps (I’m loosely following the 90 Minute Sleep Solution).
Brooke is SO cute! Love the high pigtails.

i can’t believe brooke is already 11 months! beach ball themed birthday party?!? too cute! she’ll love it! :)

i agree – brooke definitely needs a dog! feel free to come over and play with my doggies any day :)

There are tons of local groups on facebook where I live. Like “mom swap” where people post things there kids have outgrown and you can get it pretty cheap and still in great shape and there is a local kids consignment store that is awesome too.

Reply

We got a TON of great stuff at local consignment shops…little ones go through clothes so fast, it’s pointless to buy new stuff! Brooke is adorbs :) she’ll look fabulous in anything
