I ran a 5k and even though I thought I was going to die, I didn’t.

Hope you are having a great Saturday.

The only other official 5k that I have ever done was when I was 5 months pregnant so today was definitely a PR for me.

I finished 2nd overall (incredibly small race) and first place female in 19:28 which is a 6:16 average pace.  It hurt.  But I loved it (in the end, it was anything but love during mile 3) and I want to do more and more and more of these.  I’ll talk more about it tomorrow because I need to go to Yogurtland right now.

Let the summer of racing begin.

Congrats on the PR! Eat lots of cookie dough bits!

So happy for you Janae! Great work and great win. I always hate when my boyfriend paces me and doesn’t look sweaty or tired in the slightest and I’m going into cardiac arrest.

Speedy speedy!!! That is so fast! Awesome job. I am doing my first 1/2 next sat!!! I am excited it is the Chicago allstate 1/2. Do you have any tips for…..do you fuel for 1/2’s? I usually don’t fuel on runs under 14…..but not sure if that is a bad idea for a race…..getting nervous! I would LOVE to get 1:30 but more realistic is 1:33….we’ll see!

Very very fast. Well done!

Reply

Dang, girl! Congrats!
6:16 is faster than my fastest mile ever. You’re impressive.

Yeah girl!!
Billy I think you just picked up a new responsibility… Start stretching, I hear Janaes got a marathon on the books!
Happy summer racing guys!

ahh this is amazing!! i LOVE your description (much love after it’s OVER, not during). gotta keep it real.

i had a slurpee today! and checked out my new gym :) one thing about my new job is that it’s about an 1.5 drive away. each way. plus traffic. so that means i will spending a lot of time at the gym, before and after work, to avoid traffic. WHOOOHOOO real life!!

Nice 5K and an awesome time!!! Enjoy that froyo!

awesome job!! I hope you post a picture of your froyo

Well done!

Summer racing also means.. summer volunteering, summer swimming in reservoirs, summer rides, summer popsicles (homemade of course!), summer sleeping in (I wish!), summer sand dune trips (Bruneau Dunes is on the agenda), and summer slip ‘n’ slides!

Great job!!!

Congrats!!!! You are SO fast! Enjoy yogurt land:)

Great job – small race or not, 2nd over all is a big deal!

I ran a 5K…in those shoes…I also wanted to die, but I didn’t and I did PR. But I’m not sure I want to do it over and over and over again! ;)

YOU GO GIRL!!! What an amazing finish! I secretly want to run a 5k just to see if I can boogie too!! It’s kinda like a fun little challenge because it’s not that long, but totally will get ya in the end when you DO push it!!! I hope you got the largest yogurt possible with EVERY topping imaginable!

You are AMAZING!! 6:16 is flying my dear- I can only dream. I need to do more short races as well, I’ve only done 1 5k and I think I was 12 ;).

I need your help with some fun local NorCal races this summer! I need some on my docket to fill the void of being temporarily friendless out here! Cant wait to come meet you and Brooke soon!

Reply

Wow! congrats, thats an amazing time! I’m a highschool runner and I am working really hard this summer to get sub 20 during cross country season!!!

Reply

CONGRATULATIONS! Amazing, you are! I can ride my bike that fast. Well, at least I think I can, not even sure about that! :-)

That’s amazing! I’m running a 5k tomorrow with my husband and 15 mo old in the BOB. Pretty sure I won’t

Congrats Janae, you are AMAZING & such an inspiration. And I love that Billy paced you for the second half- that’s awesome :) He gets extra hubby points ;)

Reply

damn! that’s fast. even if it was small race, you killed it!

Reply

Yay! Janae you’re so great! I hope to someday be half the runner you are! I think I’m already as obsessed with froyo and probably get it just as often, so at least we can relate to that ;) So proud of you!

Congrats!!! You are a rock star!!!

Reply

Ok, first of all your new top looks super cute! :) I’m gonna have to go buy one now…
Secondly… GIIIIRRRRLLL that is one fast 5k!! You rock!! Congrats!
5ks are so much fun… especially here where I live because you start seeing the same people over and over again and you know which ones you want to beat the next time and which ones to pace off of and then there’s those people that when you see them pass you, you know you’re having an off day! haha ;)
Bring on the summer! ;)

Reply

WOW!! 19:28 is a fabulous time!!!! Only in my dreams will I have that kind of time any time soon!! You rock!!!

Reply

That is amazing!!!! Congrats! And I have to share my excitement in yogurtland opening in midtown NYC. I loved it so much when I was in CA a few years ago and I’m sure you understand my pain in not having it.

Reply

Congratulations!!! That’s an AMAZING time!!! Enjoy your yogurt :)

Reply

Woooo go girl!!! That’s so awesome!!

xo

Reply

That is insanely awesome. Congratulations!!

Reply

Wow.. crazy fast race..Congrats on all!!!!

I ran the 1 mile race and my best mile time was 6.39.. and that hurt! I’m not sure I can get faster the older I get.. turning 45 in August. I just hope to keep up the same PR.. year after year.

They don’t have those Yogurtlands in MN.. but they have CherryBerry and Yogurt Lab.. I’ll have to try something other then a Mcd’s vanilla cone..

Reply

Congrats on a great race! 5Ks are downright painful. If I ever break 20, I’ll be able to retire from them & focus on my true love – the half marathon. I bet you will improve dramatically as you race more 5Ks!

Reply

speedy girl!! congrats on an awesome race!

Reply

whoa, congrats! that’s such a fast pace! you’re seriously my running hero :)

Reply

Awesome! I have one tomorrow and I’m hoping to be under 32:00 but I haven’t run all week so I’m slightly nervous. Plus there’s a hill and I don’t do hills.

Reply

You are FAST!! Dang. When I run faster than an 8 min pace, my legs feel like they are going to legitimately fall off. I can’t imagine running 3 miles at 6:16! Also, where did you get your top from?! I have a new pair of PRO Compression yellow socks and I’m in the market for a top to match ;-)

Reply

Question—when you go places–airports, races, etc. are you recognized? e

Reply

Look at you rockin’ all sorts of distances! Awesome job! And that new lulu top looks sweet! Yes, it’s sad that I’m I remember fun tops you recently got. haha

Reply

5Ks are all I will do in the summer. It gets too hot and humid to legit compete for anything more around here.

Reply

I could never dream of running so fast! Congrats!! :)

Reply

What a great time! I hope you get the 5K bug…they’re so much fun!

Reply

Congrats!!!!!!
I have a couple of 5Ks lined up for the next couple of months and I am excited!!! :) Summer here we come!!

Reply

Let me know which races you’re going to run this summer! I’d love to run one to meet you!

Reply

Great job! Congrats on being the first girl to finish!

Reply

Congrats!!! My 5k PR is 21:25 – 6:54 pace.

I have two half’s lined up this summer, one this month and one next month – I’m super excited!

Reply

Holy bejesus, that’s speedy! Awesome, congrats!!!

I PR’d in my 5K yesterday too! Your times motivate me to train harder! Thanks!

Reply

Great race and congratulations!

Reply

GO SPEED RACER!

Reply

Congrats girl! I have a love/hate relationship with the 5k. It’s jut the right amount of pain, and its over so quick!

Reply

Congrats girl! You are AWESOME!

Reply

Wow! You are speedy! Right now, I’m trying to break 30 minutes in the 5K, so I’m in awe of your 19:28!

Reply

Yay!! CONGRATS!

We have the same lulu top. Wahoo twinners :)

Reply

Awesome job on the 5k!! I seriously hate that distance because you basically run til you feel like you’re going to throw up the entire time.

Reply

Way to go! That is fantastic!!

Reply

Janae, I ran a 10k this weekend that you probably would have loved! Mostly because I thought I was going to die too, but I made it! It’s the Lynch Canyon Trail Run in Vallejo. The hills were like mountains, no joke! You should check it out.

Reply

Congrats on your first race back…and even more so for the win!!! Awesome job

Reply

Wow you did an awesome job!!!
