I am about to show you the most adorable picture in the world.

May 27, 2013

I thought I would start your Monday morning off right by showing you the most adorable picture in the world.

1.  A reader sent me a picture of her cutest puppy in the whole wide world after I mentioned that golden retriever puppies are my favorite puppies.    Brooke and I seriously NEEEEEDDDDDD a puppy.

74AEA25F 70AC 4380 A487 3989580D43E4

Last night we headed on up to dinner at my aunt’s house.   PS Remember the shoes that Brooke has tried to lose a million times…. she finally did.  She lost those cute little white sandals on the airplane last week so I am on the hunt for a new pair of sandals for her (preferably a pair of jelly sandals…. please tell me that you had those as a kid).

DSC 3026

My aunt brought out a puppet book for Brooke first thing when we got there and Brooke was thrilled.

DSC 3036

I was thrilled when the plate of salmon, chicken, vegetables and salad was sitting in front of me.

DSC 3039

DSC 3044

And since they always have a selection of Ben & Jerry’s in their freezer I had to at least try each flavor with my cake.

DSC 3047

And on a random note… have you ever tried the ‘make your own peanut butter’ at Whole Foods?  Do it.  You will want to hug me for telling you this.

DSC 3030

Where do you buy your peanut butter from? What brand?  Anyone make their own peanut butter?

Do you have the day off from work?

Dog person, cat person or both person?

emma @ a mom runs this town May 27, 2013 at 5:02 am

Yes, adorable pic. Yes you need a pup. Yes I need that cake. Yes I need to try homemade peanut butter.
It’s a YES day :)
Happy Memorial Day!

Nicole @ Work in Sweats Mama May 27, 2013 at 5:44 am

You said it all Emma!

Sarah @PickyRunner May 27, 2013 at 5:03 am

I wore jelly sandals! Those hurt my feet SO badly though. They always pinched my toes! I need to try s’mores Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. Anything with marshmallow is right up my alley. That dog is adorable. Why are puppies so cute?!

Elizabeth @ My Neon Running Shoes May 27, 2013 at 5:06 am

I buy naturally more peanut and almond butter and LOVE IT! My husband has the day off so we are taking Noah to the pool :-)

Andrea @ mainerunnergirl May 27, 2013 at 5:10 am

I’ve always wanted to try the peanut butter maker! Or just make my own at home with a food processor. I love my dog so much!… We used to have a cat and she was a little devil!!

Emma @ Culturecopia May 27, 2013 at 5:13 am

Whole Foods seriously has everything!! Make your own pb?!?! Awesome!! What’s stopping you from getting a puppy?? They’re the best! (but yes, a lot of work) :)

Adriana @Laced Up With Lipstick May 27, 2013 at 5:13 am

I want a Golden Retriver too! I always want to steal my brothers when I go home for a visit. Ooh that Ben & Jerry’s s’mores looks awesome! Chocolate and marshmallows are my favorite! I’ve never made my own peanut butter and I use jiff. I’ve tried all natural peanut butter but its not tasty in my opinion.

Campo @ Campo On The Run May 27, 2013 at 5:19 am

Beautiful photos! Yes, my fabulous mother in law makes her own peanut butter – it is delicious! She says it’s easy, so I’m sure I could make my own…

Kim @ Hungry Healthy Girl May 27, 2013 at 5:20 am

I loved jellies when I was little and my kiddos had them too….try Old Navy. That cake looks wonderful! I love making my own PB and I have a really yummy recipe on the blog http://www.hungryhealthygirl.com/2013/01/12/the-best-peanut-butter-ever-seriously/ Have a great Memorial Day!

Mallory @ my quarter life [crisis] May 27, 2013 at 5:22 am

That is the cutest pic of Brooke and Billy. I feel like I have said that before but this might take the cake…speaking of which that cake looks amazeballs

I have the day off but not the night – boo. working 5-9.

Lisa May 27, 2013 at 5:26 am

I am definitely a dog person all the way!

You are right, both pictures are SO adorable!! :-)

Angie May 27, 2013 at 5:27 am

Go target.com and you can print off a $5 off coupon on kids shoes. I paid $3 for my little guys sandals. I don’t care what he wears right now since he’s not walking yet. Did you like the cannoli ice cream? I tried it and I love cannoli but I didn’t care for the ice cream. Tasted a bit off.

Liz May 27, 2013 at 5:29 am

I agree that you need a puppy, especially one that looks like that. I didn’t have the day off today because I’m studying abroad in New Zealand, but I took it off anyway and we jumped in the ocean and went wine tasting, so I definitely still celebrated :) Hope you had a great long weekend!

:) Liz

Kelly in Canada May 27, 2013 at 5:35 am

I have an allergic reaction to many kinds of peanut butter, but not to organic PB so that’s what I have. My (unprovable) theory is that it is the pesticides I’m reacting to.

Dog person, definitely!

No day off here in Canada! I hope your Memorial Day goes well though!

Monica L May 27, 2013 at 5:38 am

Those pictures are adorable. Don’t get a puppy because if you start posting pictures of Brooke AND a puppy the cuteness factor is going to make the internet implode! My grocery store has a make your own nut butter section too-yummy! I’ve been on call this weekend and today-yuckers. Of course it’s been beautiful here. I don’t care for cats-dogs RULE! ;)

Elizabeth @ Positive Changes May 27, 2013 at 5:41 am

I use to have a pink pair of jelly sandals growing up! Brooke and Billy look so much alike!
We buy our peanut butter at whole foods as well, we love to make it our self there!
We both have the day off today!! WooHoo!!
I would say more a dog person then anything!

Britt @ BrittsRunningStyle May 27, 2013 at 5:45 am

I have the day off and am so happy for that! I love pups :-) That little golden is too cute!

Carrie May 27, 2013 at 5:46 am

Can you make your own almond butter there? We are a peanut free house due to an allergy but we use soynut butter for school days and almond butter here. Almond butter is so pricey!

Kelsey May 27, 2013 at 3:20 pm

Just saw your comment and I thought I’d chime in. You can make your own almond butter at home – its crazy easy, cheaper and so so good (I like it way more than store bought)! Just throw a pound of almonds into an 11 or 12 cup food processor and let it whirl. Takes about 20 minutes, stopping it every couple minutes to scrape the sides, add a sprinkle of salt and it will become the creamiest, best almond butter. I make it and peanut butter every other week!

Nicole @ Work in Sweats Mama May 27, 2013 at 5:47 am

Definitely a dog person! Have the day off & will be driving home from Atlanta. Sad to leave after great time with lots of fam! Those Ben & Jerry flavors look awesome!

Lindsey May 27, 2013 at 5:48 am

We buy almond butter from Costco (MaraNatha) and its my favorite!
In Canada so nope, we had last Monday off!
Cat for sure :)

LosingLindy May 27, 2013 at 5:55 am

I am a big dog person. I don’t like little dogs. I have two cats, because we don’t have the space or time for a dog.

Allison @ Life's a Bowl May 27, 2013 at 6:01 am

I’m definitely a dog person and love our pup Charlie – he’s an about 1.5-years-old, spunky toy poodle :P And my fave PB is Crunchy Teddie!

Brooke @ Running In Heels May 27, 2013 at 6:04 am

OMG stop! You guys are too cute :)

Runningwithscissors May 27, 2013 at 6:10 am

My fave PB is Better ‘N Peanut Butter from TJ’s, just love everything about it.
I have the day off so heading out for an easy 5/7 mile recovery run then golfing. Ran awesome 12 mile hill route yesterday afternoon.
Those pics make my heart melt!!!!
Enjoy the day!!

Lynz May 27, 2013 at 6:11 am

That puppy is so cute! We make our own peanut butter. Just dump the dry-roasted peanuts in the food processor(we have a vitamix) and viola peanut butter! I like using honey roasted peanuts too. I am so a dog person but I like cats ok too just not as well.

Lindsey May 27, 2013 at 6:12 am

Billy seems to have “grown up”!!!!!! He looks so professional all the time now and takes such great care of his girls! It’s so neat to see how you all have changed just over this last year! You can also make peanut butter in a vitamix with just peanuts….it is so good! I am going to try the whole foods version! YUM!

Crissi @ runninggirlrn May 27, 2013 at 6:22 am

Great pics! I love that homemade Peanut butter from Whole Foods! Delicious.
I am off of work today! Woo Hoo. Another cookout. This one is at my Mother in Laws.
I am totally a DOG person! We have 4 labs and they are the best dogs in the world. We have 5 acres and a pond!
Happy Memorial Day to all!

Candice May 27, 2013 at 6:30 am

Trader Joes crunchy salted. Yum! My favorite pb.

Beth @ Mangoes and Miles May 27, 2013 at 6:31 am

LOVE Brooke’s face with the puppet book! That cake looks absolutely fantastic. You’re making me crave the cheesecake we have in our fridge, and it’s only 9:30am.

We have an adorable little puppy! I love both dogs and cats (I would call myself an animal person in general), but I’m allergic to cats soooo…there’s that.

Kelly - IRUNLIKEAGIRL May 27, 2013 at 6:35 am

Happy Memorial Day! I love Santa Cruz PB and my latest obsession is PB2… Have you tried that? Takes a few times to get used to but now I’m hooked.

Lauren @ The Highlands Life May 27, 2013 at 6:35 am

I’m at work today (making time and a half as aRN) for just 8 hours and then home to my baby and to grill steaks with friends tonight.

I really like Jif NaturalPeanut Butter.

And totally a cat person. We have one who is 7 years old and or baby loves him!

Maureen May 27, 2013 at 6:37 am

Those definitely are the cutest pictures! Yes today is a much needed day off of work, ready for big adventures of movie watching. Absolutely a dog person.

Therese May 27, 2013 at 6:51 am

Our local Nob Hill has the peanut butter thing too. I’m not a big PB eater though so I haven’t tried it.
I LOVE dogs, cats not so much

Brandi May 27, 2013 at 6:54 am

Those are some adorable pictures! I picked up some almond butter at a local health food store yesterday. They made it. I did not. ;)

Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona May 27, 2013 at 6:57 am

Here in Canada last weekend was a long weekend – we had Monday off for Victoria Day. I wish this week was a short week too!

Allee @ Griselda Mood May 27, 2013 at 6:58 am

Make your own peanut butter?!?!?!?! WHAT?!

Emily wood May 27, 2013 at 6:59 am

Try the salted version- awesome!! I’ve had it from Wholefoods in London’s Kensington- the giant tub hardly lasted the week!

Lauren May 27, 2013 at 7:09 am

I am definitely a dog person! And I want a pair of jellies for myself now-a-days. I used to love them!

I love pretty much any kind of nut butter. My favorites are Smart Balance and probably Wild Squirrel’s Peanut Butter with Pretzel bits and honey. Perfect combo!

Jen G. May 27, 2013 at 7:14 am

I love the make your own PB from Whole Foods, but the best is their honey roasted PB option. So. Addictive.

Becky May 27, 2013 at 7:17 am

Those are the most adorable pictures!! And I don’t think there is a picture of me in my childhood without jelly sandals on! I think I’ve heard that Payless still has them?!

I’m a dog and cat fan but mostly dog. I have two pups at home and they are the greatest!! :)

Jordan May 27, 2013 at 7:19 am

My favorite peanut butter is 365 brand with sea salt. It’s so amazing that I have an open jar in my fridge and three unopened in my pantry (the nearest whole foods is 30ish minutes away in a city I don’t go to very often, so I stock up when I do go).

I love both dogs and cats. We have three cats (Cadbury, Marshmallow, and Reese’s) but I’m slowly convincing my boyfriend that we also need a dog that can go running with me.

This Little Runner May 27, 2013 at 7:55 am

That peanut butter sounds AMAZING. I also had to laugh at your cats’ names. I love all of those things, so I fully support your name choices. If you can convince your boyfriend to name a cat Marshmallow, surely you can talk him into getting a dog for a running buddy. :)

Cate May 27, 2013 at 7:21 am

I had a Golden growing up and she was the sweetest puppy! You need to look up ray Charles the golden retriever on Facebook. He’s a blind golden puppy who lives in MA. He’s the cutest!

You must try the honey roasted PB at whole foods!

Amanda May 27, 2013 at 7:29 am

I have the day off from work and I’m so excited about it. I love just hanging out at home with my husband. We buy all our Peanut Butter from Trader Joes. Almond Butter too!

Chelsea @ LittleOneRuns May 27, 2013 at 7:32 am

I’m an almond butter person :) I love the brand Justin’s, but only buy it if it’s on sale. Otherwise I buy Trader Joe’s brand. Both :) Or you can call me an animal person, I love them all!

Kristen @ notsodomesticated May 27, 2013 at 7:46 am

So which of those 3 Ben & Jerry’s flavor was the best?? I’ve seen them at the store but haven’t tried any of those particular flavors yet!

Sarah May 27, 2013 at 7:47 am

Golden Retreivers are great family dogs!!!! We have had two throughout my childhood and they are just the best :) so cuddly and great with babies!

Katie May 27, 2013 at 7:50 am

I’ve always wanted to make my own PB. Next time I definitely am going to! I can only imagine how delicious it is!

Kara May 27, 2013 at 7:53 am

Brooke is super cute, so You must get Brooke a puppy. Livi’s first two words after mama and dada were Riley and doggy and her favorite person/ breathing animal is our cavachon Riley.

This Little Runner May 27, 2013 at 7:53 am

Puppies, while wonderful, also typically like to sneak dirty diapers out of the trash. Do not ask me how I know this. My pup likes to lay across my legs or butt-to-butt. :)

Now I am on a mission to eat cake today!!

Luv What You Do May 27, 2013 at 8:18 am

I buy PB and AB at Whole Foods but I do love to make my own too! The WF honey roasted PB is the BEST. I eat it by the spoonful : )

Michelle @ 3cheaprunners May 27, 2013 at 8:26 am

Don’t hate me – but I don’t like peanut butter…..

Alyssa @ See This Girl Run May 27, 2013 at 8:31 am

I do have the day off and it’s sooo awesome! I agree, you guys totally need a puppy.

Lorraine@runbuns13.blogspot.com May 27, 2013 at 8:35 am

Skippy natural PB.. is the best. That’s so cool you can make your own. Does it separate.. leaving oil on the top?

Cute pix… ;o)

char eats greens May 27, 2013 at 8:45 am

I would so get a golden retriever too. We have no pets, which I’m fine with right now; especially since my little one will probably start crawling soon haha

Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More May 27, 2013 at 8:53 am

That cake looks amazing!!

I haven’t tried making my own PB, but I love the idea of it. I buy MaraNatha Almond Butter at Costco.

I am off work today and couldn’t be happier about it! Though it’s been raining for the last two hours and is supposed to continue for another couple of hours.

I am a cat person but am seriously considering getting a dog to run with me.

Miranda @ Miranda Runs May 27, 2013 at 9:19 am

I buy PB at Fred Meyer! Skippy natural is my faveeeeeeee! Yup, I have the day off school! Almost done with senior year!! PS those really are the cutest pictures ever <3

Emily @ Running For Boston May 27, 2013 at 9:27 am

This weekend has been awesome and I still have a week of vacation! We had a family reunion this past weekend and surprised my grandmother for her 90th birthday.

I’m a total dog person. I have a 9 year old Brittany named Chloe.

susette May 27, 2013 at 9:28 am

Have you ever tried almond butter? That’s the best ever! I don’t get it too often because it’s more dangerous for me to overindulge in than peanut butter. Seriously, so good!

Jessica R @ fromthekitchentotheroad May 27, 2013 at 9:28 am

I like TJ’s peanut butter since there is nothing extra in there that I don’t want. I was just introduced to the Whole Foods make your own peanut butter. I haven’t bought it myself but one of the families I work for has it. That cake looks heavenly!

Debbie @ Deb Runs... May 27, 2013 at 9:39 am

That is such a cute puppy! I trained one client this mornig, but other than that, I am not working today! Now it’s time to eat left-overs from last night’s BBQ!

Rena May 27, 2013 at 9:49 am

babyGap has cute jelly sandals!

Sarah May 27, 2013 at 10:00 am

The cuteness is adorable! Brookers face is SO loveable!

Avery @ SBLW May 27, 2013 at 10:18 am

Target for me! I’m just a JIF Natural girl, and it’s great!

Ashley May 27, 2013 at 10:21 am

Definitely two of the cutest pictures ever. :)
I want to try making my own nut butter sometime, I love the idea of being able to make your own in a store like Whole Foods. More grocery stores need to make that available!!
I’m from Canada so I got last Monday off, so I’m stuck at work all day. I hope you guys have an enjoyable Memorial Day though!
I’m a total cat person, but my boyfriend really wants to get a dog, and I think it would be great to get one to have company while out running. Until we move out of our apartment I won’t be getting one though, the little guy would need a yard to play in!

Mindy May 27, 2013 at 11:02 am

I was actually going to comment when you bought the skippy at Costco and tell you you NEED to buy the Kirkland peanut butter. It went Mia for a little while but it is back and better than I remember. Stock up while you can!

Jenny May 27, 2013 at 11:18 am

The co-op in my town has several nut butter grinders and my favorite option is the *HONEY-ROASTED* peanut butter! (My mouth just filled with saliva while typing this, a la Rachel and Chandler cheesecake style.) It is the best!
How was the cannoli ice cream? I’ve been wondering about that flavor. Have a happy holiday weekend :)

Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries May 27, 2013 at 11:26 am

We buy a massive jar of Adam’s Peanut Butter from Costco. I go through it way too fast to not buy it in bulk! Every once in awhile I’ll make my own, but not often.

Not much of a cat person… They kinda creep me out. I do looove dogs though! We have two labs!

jrm May 27, 2013 at 11:49 am

Yesterday I bought the honey roasted do-it-yourself peanut butter from whole foods. So good.

Dee @ The Hungry Fit Chick May 27, 2013 at 12:30 pm

I love the make your own peanut butter at Whole Foods! They also have amazing cashew butter. I picked up some “make your own” pistachio butter at a local market not too long ago – it’s definitely something I want to try learning how to make at home!!

Kristie May 27, 2013 at 12:30 pm

I used to be a peanut butter sucker with at least 5 different kinds in the cupboard at a given time. Now I’m just back to creamy Jif because it’s delicious and I don’t have cupboard space for 5 jars of peanut butter :). I’ve made my own before and while it was good, I think I rushed to eat it faster because I would be worried it would go bad.

I’m not working right now, so no. I’m 2 days away from my due date with my first though!

I’m definitely more of a cat person. I think most dogs are super cute and love the idea of having one to run with, but they’re so messy – all the fur/slobber/neediness outweighs the cuteness and potential running partner if I’m being practical. My cat is cute and very low maintenance :).

Amy N. May 27, 2013 at 12:33 pm

Those pictures are adorable. My kids want a dog so bad, but we’re not getting one until we a fenced in yard (our is not).

We love make your own peanut butter – we do almond butter too.

Rachel@curious runner girl May 27, 2013 at 1:52 pm

Those are seriously the cutest pics ever!! Definitely a dog person, not a cat fan, but I have been finding all those cat posts going around quite funny.

Sam @ Better With Sprinkles May 27, 2013 at 3:47 pm

My food processor is way too crappy to make homemade peanut butter – maybe if I invest in a better one though! I generally go with Skippy Natural or Maranatha crunchy natural.

christa May 27, 2013 at 4:57 pm

those are such cute pics!! golden retrievers are super cute! will you really get a dog soon? can i make a suggestion? you should adopt one from a local rescue or shelter and NOT buy one! lots of doggies of all ages waiting for their perfect home :) might even find that you prefer one who is already house-trained so you don’t have to worry about that!

Lindsey @ Run Freckles Run May 27, 2013 at 8:07 pm

Where do you buy your peanut butter from? What brand? Anyone make their own peanut butter?
-I buy Peanut Butter in bulk at Sam’s Club. I get JIF. I have made it before, but it didn’t taste right. Not sure what I was missing?

Do you have the day off from work?
-Yes, in fact, I am on a 5 day weekend. Won’t go back till Wednesday :-D

Dog person, cat person or both person?
-Both. But I only have a kitty named Ginger. She’s so cute, but evil!

Mia May 27, 2013 at 8:41 pm

I love fresh ground peanut butter. Have you ever tried the honey roasted peanut butter at whole foods? If you haven’t yet you need to, cause oh boy is it good!
Also, Cannoli ice cream?!?! Is that as amazing as i’m imagining?

Kristi May 28, 2013 at 2:28 am

I loooooooved my jelly shoes! I sometimes sit and wish that they would start making them again.
I sometimes save your blogs so I have a few to read, because I am always sad when I have no more to read.

Kari @ Running Ricig May 28, 2013 at 5:02 am

That puppy is adorable. Sometimes I’m sad we got Bungee after she was out of her puppy phase, but she’s already so freaking cute, so I guess it doesn’t matter. I’m definitely a dog person.

We buy our PB at the local grocery store.

Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom May 28, 2013 at 5:20 am

I made my own peanut butter at Whole Foods and it was fun! My mom laughed at me for thinking that I was having fun, but I most definitely was ;) I buy Natural Jif peanut butter at the grocery store, but I’m still looking for a natural peanut butter that does not have palm oil in it… If anyone has any suggestions, that would be amazing.

Dog person 100%. I have a dachshund and he’s the cutest.

Sarah May 28, 2013 at 6:17 am

I LOVE my Golden Retriever and am 110% convinced that everyone needs one. Not to mention she is the world’s BEST running partner!

You seriously need to get a golden retriever.
She is also amazing with kids.

Leigha May 28, 2013 at 6:28 am

Normally I’m a jif girl. I want to go to a whole foods so bad! I’m definitely a cat person but I’m starting to like dogs more. I want to make my own pb sometime!

Pyper May 28, 2013 at 10:26 am

So just to let you know, the best baby girl jellies I have found are from Old Navy. They work perfect for little baby girl feet! ;)

Kristine May 28, 2013 at 6:23 pm

Oh my goodness she is SO CUTE!

I do the Almond Butter at WF all the time! I also made Almond Butter in my Vitamix and it tastes SO good! I added some honey and cinnamon and WOW! Delish!

Sarah Murphy May 30, 2013 at 6:56 am

I have been a wee bit obsessed with making my own almond butter over the past few months. I just use my food processor and add a little salt and honey. So much cheaper and better for you than the store-bought. I dedicated a post to it a few months ago. http://simplysocialblog.wordpress.com/2013/04/10/homemade-almond-butter/
Just started following your blog and I am in awe at how fast you run. Thoroughly impressed.

Juli D. June 3, 2013 at 5:43 am

I have to disagree, my Bernese Mountain Dog puppy was the cutest in the world:

But seriously, puppies are the best. When I am having a terrible day, I watch puppy videos to feel better.

Kay June 4, 2013 at 8:50 am

Yes I love the fresh PB from Whole Foods!!
