Ice baths and healthy cookies.

After Billy got done with school yesterday he wanted to go on a run.  Brooke and I went with him but we walked.  It was 82 degrees outside and he did a SPEEDY 4 miles.  He kind of overheated and so once he was done he got under the kids water thingee at the playground… the water was freezing so we are thinking it was kind of like taking an ice bath.

Brooke has an obsession with watching other kids and so we could not get her to look at the camera, she had much more important things to look at.

Having Billy home for the whole night meant that I made him make dinner.  Very kind of me.  Brown rice, lemon pepper salmon (that was so tender and perfect) and strawberries.

While he was making a healthy dinner I made a healthy dessert.  I declare these cookies to be healthy because they have peanut butter in them.  I got all creative and added chocolate chips to this recipe.

Our fun game of the evening:

Brooke discovered Billy’s leg hair (who knows… maybe those are my legs) and so she would pull it and then look up and laugh.  Billy wasn’t laughing.

Bangs Friend and her husband came over and we watched Life of Pi and I loved it.   Kind of weird but really good.

Time for a Saturday morning run… I definitely missed being able to say that.

Hope you have an amazing Saturday!

We just watched Life of Pi this week too. I did not expect to like it but I really did. Jealous of your dinner. I’m the only one in our family who likes salmon so we rarely cook it. Yours looks so yummy!

Any Saturday (or any day) where I am with my family, safe, and healthy is a good Saturday (or any day).

After all that has gone on this week, and as the anniversary of another life-changing event nears, I remember that all the more fully.

Best to all.

My oldest daughter used to pull my hubby’s leg hair when she was about Brooke’s age, too, while my youngest used to try and bite his nose :) Who knew babies could be so dangerous?!

Have a great run! I’m heading out shortly for 7 miles, which is fitting since I’m 7 weeks post-op from Morton’s neuroma surgery. I’m loving running without foot pain – here is to happy, healthy runs for everyone !!

Yay for being able to do a Saturday AM run! I am about to do 4 mi in the hills; longer run tomorrow, then taking it easy this next week in advance of half next Saturday.

Janae, it’s way early but since you are geographically closer, have you heard of people putting teams together for Ragnar NoCal (September 2013) yet? I will actually be out in CA for husband’s work trip around that time; would love to join a team but don’t know anyone doing it.

Ahhh. As soon as it cools down tonight, I’m gong for a run. My day has been crazy busy but our even was a success and I survived it all, plus 2 soccer games. I’m ready for a date night but doubt that will happen…a run sounds better anyway. Looks like you’re having a fab day. xo, Jess

I wish my fiance would cook me meals like that. Maybe it’s a husband thing and he will after we’re married. :) I hope you had a great run this morning! I think coming back from a bad injury just makes you appreciate running even more.

My Sat run was an 11-mile trail race. Lots of fun, especially wading through thigh high, ice cold creek crossing & slogging through mud. And so sweet to see my girls waiting for us @ finish line. My 3-year-old didn’t want to give stinky, muddy mommy a hug but 1-year-old didn’t mind at all!

Brooke is the most adorable!! Love the idea of fresh strawberries with fish. Sounds yummy! And those cookies look delectable too!

Reply

I photograph a lot of kids and I just have to tell you that Brooke looks like the happiest baby on the planet, so adorable!!

life of pi was amazing. the best movie i’d seen in a long time (besides the hobbit).

Reply

I read Life of Pi, and I’d agree that it was kind of strange but really good.

Reply

I absolutely loved the book (so much though that it’s in my top 5 books) so I’m hesitant about seeing the movie for that reason….and yes, it was a strange book.

Reply

Yummo! Can you tell us how Billy makes the salmon come out so well? Do you use frozen salmon or do you have to buy fresh to get it to be so good?

Reply

Pulling leg hair is great fine motor activity:) She is working those muscles in her hands!

Reply

I have never tried eating strawberries with savory food. Need to try I guess.
