What my eyes look like at 6 a.m.

This is what blow-drying your daughter’s hair at 6 in the morning looks like.  She will be meeting a lot of new friends today so we had to style it before leaving for the airport.   This is also a great example of what it looks like when your eyeballs are extremely tired and your eye lids do not open.

Brooke was just a little confused about what was going on.

Billy drove us to the airport and everything went smoothly except when they had to search my diaper bag and found enough food for 3 people.  It was a 1.5 hour long flight.   I always like to bring a ton of food because how awful would that be if there was a delay or something like that and I was forced to buy airport food.  I also brought an 8 day supply of food for Brooke.  You may think that banana has gone bad but that is the stage I like to eat it.

Our pilot was absolutely hilarious.  He had the entire plane laughing really hard a few times.  My brother is also a pilot and he tells some pretty funny jokes to his passengers too.

When they told us to turn off our electronic devices Brooke whipped out her book.

And read it out loud…. loud enough for the whole plane to hear:)

Today was the NINTH airplane that Brooke has been on.  Well traveled baby.

We landed in Vegas and I tried to get a picture of Brooke with the sign.  About to get on a shuttle to St. George where my MOM WILL BE PICKING ME UP!!!!

Happy Thursday! Until we talk again in the morning…. good a good run in (if you haven’t already), eat something extra delicious and get a good night’s sleep.

I am jealous of your funny pilot! Ours didn’t say a word… which is a problem when you need to know how long the darn flight is for bathroom planning. It’s so awesome having a baby to travel with because they let all your stuff through security! Can’t wait to see Brooke and her cute hair style! And you of course :-)

Haha, that is so cute.
I’m sure the whole plane was super impressed with your story telling ;)
I kind of can’t believe Brooke has been on 9 planes! That’s almost as many as I’ve been on in my life ha.
Have fun with your Mama!

Brooke is a seasoned traveler! She looks like she’s good on the plane, too. You know, aside from the loud book :).

So cute :)
I always pack so much food when I go places too!
Enjoy your time with your mom!! xo

I can’t believe Brooke has flown 9 times already! She looks like a total pro. We just booked our first flight with Ella for the end of June, she’s a seasoned car traveler, so I’m hoping it will translate!

have a great time!!
I travel soo much and love the life experiences. I think it’s great at 6 months , she’s been on 9 airplanes! Racking up the air miles :D

Love that picture of Brooke by the Vegas sign.. she looks so excited!

NINE PLANES? At six months!? Sisterhood of the traveling pants! I also pack a million snacks for myself..but that’s just a daily occurrence. I like to think I’m prepping myself for motherhood (in the far future), but really, I just get hungry a lot and don’t share my snacks. Selfish snacker.

I always pack a bunch of food for airplane trips tooooooo! I love cheese, sandwiches, and nuts. Have a fun trip!!

Enjoy the retreat!! Love the picture of her in the seat beside you :)

I can’t believe you eat your bananas like that! That is total make banana bread stage :)! 8 miles in before the horrific snow has started! 10 inches coming my way!

Reply

You must have been flying Southwest-they are the only ones I know that interact with their passengers. And that is so sweet of Brooke to read to the other passengers! Hope you both have a great time at “home”!

Reply

Brooke has been on more planes at 6 months than I’ve been on in 20 years of life. Haha! That is so funny. I eat my bananas the same way. Most people would throw it away but that’s when I think they are the best.

Love the blow-drying! LOL! And the pics of her reading :)

We traveled a lot with our oldest three kids. I always found it pretty easy when they were not yet mobile. But yeah, a whole TON of food always! And before you couldn’t bring your own water, we used to always take 3 of those liter-and-a-half bottles. Made for really heavy carry-ons :P

Reply

I still remember standing in line for like 2hrs at the UC Health Department waiting to get the H1N1 vaccine and I accidently dumped my entire water bottle in my diaper bag. I emptied everything out right there in the parking garage (yes. the line went all the way through the garage) and everyone around me made comments about my Mary Poppin’s bag full of food. It was ridic. But I ALWAYS have to have food in my purse. I don’t like to get hungry and neither do my kids.

I will only eat a banana with no brown on it and no green – so like a 1 day grace period. When they are brown the texture makes me gag. But they are perfect for banana bread…mmm. That sounds pretty good right now.

My 5 mile tempo run was ok this morning. Pretty hard though even though I did it last week and it wasn’t so difficult. Gotta love that :( But then I went to lunch with Megan and Ashley – so that was fun. It is no Cafe Rio with your mom, but I will take it ;) I hope you have so much fun in St George! I am so jealous. You will do so well and a speaker and then you will rock that race. SO stoked to hear all about it.

Did you get to fly with the yogurt or did you have to buy that at the airport? Yogurt is always one of those foods I’d wondered about. I always bring lots of fruit, and sometimes chips or something, but yogurt would be great.

Reply

Hey! I brought it from home and they let me take it!

Wow – 9 flights already! That’s amazing. I think it’s a very smart decision to pack so much food with you. I always end up eating really unhealthy things at airports and it’s so not worth it. Have a great trip!

That banana doesn’t look like it’s gone bad at all – perfect stage of ripeness! There’s nothing I hate more than a green banana, or one that doesn’t even have any tiny brown speckles… The metallic taste those leave in my mouth is just… no.

I’m impressed that Brooke does so well on airplanes! She looks pretty happy to be reading her book. Have an awesome time with your Mom! :)

What a good little traveler. My kids have always loved airplanes too. They’re facinated by the takeoff, then they’re lulled to sleep by the sound of the engine. It’s excellent.

Have so much fun on your grand adventure!

enjoy your time with your mom!!! brooke is so darn cute, she already knows how to pose for the camera :)

You are so brave for taking Brooke on a plane NINE times!!! Whenever I see parents taking their babies through security and on and off planes, I always get stressed for them! I can’t even imagine how chaotic it must be to have to load up so much gear and have TSA poke through all your stuff. I once watched TSA completely pull everything out of a mom’s diaper bag and they inspected every. single. jar. of baby food. The mom looked so flustered, I felt so bad for her. I hope your experiences have been better than that!! And I hope you have fun with your mama!! :)

Reply

Awesome! Brooke has almost flown as much as me. Ha ha. HAVE FUN!!!!!! Love that she whipped out her book BTW.

Have a great time!! Brooke looks like she’s so well behaved on planes! :)

Have a good run: check- 4 mile progressive run that was a lot better than anything else I’ve done recently

Eat something delicious: check- Little Caesar’s pepperoni pizza for dinner

Get a good night’s sleep: tell my puppy (she’s 6 months old like Brooke!) to stop waking me up in the middle of the night for dance parties. Literally all she wants to do is run around our living room and shake her hind end. I’m beginning to think I have an infant instead of a puppy, with all these middle-of-the-night wake ups.

Reply

I had Little Caesar’s tonight for dinner, too! Supreme, though ;)

I love listening to babies read! :)

Brooke seems to be quite the reader! I always bring tons of food with me when I travel, especially if I have a layover!

Reply

How did you get to bring greek yogurt onto the plane!?!?! I brought a ton of food for the airplane flight including greek yogurt. They wouldn’t let me take it through security because it was over 3oz so I had to go and eat it really quick cause I wasn’t about to waste it!!!

Reply

NO WAY!!! They didn’t even say a thing about it. I was so relieved because it is my favorite. I am so glad you didn’t waste it!

I hope Brooke has her own frequent flyer account! :-)

My hub and I are both Navy brats & trail runners. He’s ex-SF too. The result is travel food to the max. Our diaper bag is actually my old GoLite Rush because how well it holds food and conforms to the back.

I always bring a ton of food to airports too! Have fun w/ your mom!! :)

I always bring snacks on flights too, I hate the idea of paying $$$ for suspicious looking sandwiches!
