Blogger on the run, running with friends is the best and Brooke was trying to be grumpy.

December 31, 2012

Look Mom… I made it on the Women’s Running Magazine Website!!!!  (Mom, I will autograph your computer screen next time I am in Utah)

Screen Shot 2012 12 30 at 7 26 32 PM

While I was browsing around Women’s Running I saw this stat:

Screen Shot 2012 12 30 at 7 24 03 PM

950,000 women FINISHED a 1/2 marathon this year… that is awesome!

———————————

Why do I always forget about how much I love running with other people?!?  I seriously need to start going to a running group when I get back home because running with other people is way more fun than running by yourself.

One of my New Years Resolutions is to not wear the same workout clothes every single day but that doesn’t start until tomorrow so today I made sure to wear the same shirt I have worn every day for the last two weeks.

My friend Meggan and I went out for 7 miles in a gorgeous neighborhood.  Once again I probably told her way more than I should have about every little thought and feeling that I have… for some reason when I run with people I decide that I should open up entirely and tell them way too much information:)

IMG 7203

When I got home Brooke was trying very hard to be grumpy but she just can’t stay grumpy for long and I got a good smile out of her.

IMG 7206

After I got ready I went out to the garage to get something and saw these….

I didn’t even know these flavors existed and WHY have they not been set out on the kitchen counter for me to eat this holiday season?  I have a few things to teach my in-laws;)

And last sugary item that I talk about today:

DSC 5866

I will be having one of these the second after I finish lunch (another New Years Resolution that I have- eat dessert after my meal instead of before my meal or as my meal… I am really shooting for the stars).

———————————————————–

Who was the last person you ran with?  Do you talk while you run with people?  Have you ever ran with a running group?

What are your NEW YEARS EVE plans?

Are you one of the 950,00 women that finished a 1/2 marathon this year?  Which one?

chelsea @ averytoday December 31, 2012 at 2:16 pm

i’m not a good group/partner running. it may be due to the fact that i can’t actually form sentence while running (all that wheezing and dry heaving) but maybe i’ll get there one day!

tonight we are getting together over at a friend’s house for some games and shenanigans! hope you do something excellent and happy new year!

Gingerbread Oreos!?!?!? I must try those!!
I swear Brooke just gets cuter every minute!!
I hardly ever run with anyone but when I do, I really enjoy it.

I finished a half marathon in 2012 and just signed up for one in April 2013! I run with two other girls at least twice a week and we talk about everything! My husband makes fun of us because we run at 5:30 in the morning and he says we are so loud with our talking that he can hear us from a block away and that we probably wake up the entire neighborhood. We recently started a running group in our area too so we have group runs on Sunday mornings.

Our New Years plans involve hanging out with my running buddies, eating, and playing board games! We were going to do a midnight run in a neighboring town but its snowing here and we choose to stay warm and cozy instead.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I’m finishing up work, then heading to meet friends for dinner. My friend Alison is the last person I ran with and I ran in a few 1/2 this year. Next year I am focusing on quality over quantity, so I plan on running fewer races, but run faster and smarter! Have a great night and happy 2013!

I finished the Cowtown half-marathon last February in Fort Worth, Texas!! Today I ran 13 miles to really ring in 2013 right!! I really need to get my hands on those ice cream sandwiches. Way to go on being featured on the women’s running magazine website…totally deserved! Happy NYE!

Gingerbread Oreos sound really good!
The last person I ran with was my husband this morning… a friend of mine and I ran in Sedona a week or so ago and, I agree, it is so much fun to run with friends.
Tonight my parents, brothers and their wives and kids, and my family all go out for glow-bowling and pizza before coming home for snacks and board games (adults) and movies (kids). We can’t wait!
Have a GREAT new year!
Congrats on the Women’s Running Magazine clip!

The last person I ran with was my husband! But tomorrow I get to run with my BFF that I hardly ever see! It will be our first run we both have jogging strollers and babies!!! Our plans are to hang out tonight and have girl talk and eat yummy desserts while boys do their boy things haha.

CONGRATS on being in a magazine! You are a rockstar! Happy New Year!

Currently surrounded by 2 of my FratBoys on the couch while I nurse a bum toe – you would think I would learn where my door jams are in my house after living here for +4yrs. We have snack food, chocolate cake and netflix planned for the immediate future of NYE. That’s right, we know how to party!

Finished my first ever 1/2 Marathon in November at Disney’s Wine & Dine with my hubby – so since we both ran our 1st halves…we are a 50/50 household so far.

I have a group of coworkers/friends that I run with frequently. The first few miles I can converse just fine but then my breathing can’t handle talking anymore and so I just let them talk TO me. LOL. I like it though. Listening to them and adding my short one word answers now and then is perfectly distracting when I’m working hard to keep pace.

No big NYE eve plans for us. My youngest child and I have strep and sinus infections and an ear infection for him so my family is just at home like normal. The husband is picking up dinner for us though which is special since I always cook. I’m sure I’ll be asleep by 9:30.

I did finish a half marathon this year! Several of them actually. The half is definitely my favorite race distance! I ran the RNR St.Pete (Florida) half in February and then this November we the St.Augustine FL half marathon.

Congrats on the Women’s Running mag – that’s cool!!

I do a lot of my long runs with a friend I met through Team in Training from 2007! It’s definitely nice to run long runs with friends! I ran a few half’s this year: Rock N Roll DC, Wine Country Loudoun County, Rock N Roll VA Beach, and Richmond.

Tonight we are headed to a yummy Mexican restaurant than back home to watch the ball drop. Fun!

Last person I ran with: my daughter. We talk a lot, she just seems to open up about all kinds of things that are going on at school or in her life while we’re out running together. It’s great mother-daughter time…see what you have to look forward to with Brooke? :)

Not much in the way of NYE plans…we just went and hiked about 5 miles in our local state park, so we’re looking forward to getting warm by the fire and eating Trader Joe’s bacon-wrapped scallops and a big pan of chicken/rice/black bean enchiladas with green sauce for dinner. Happy New Year!

I used to not like running with people AT ALL. But once I became more confident in my running I realized that it can be a lot of fun! I still don’t do it often, but I sure enjoy it when I do. I LOVE to talk while we run, especially if it’s a good girl friend and we have a lot of catching up to do :-)

I run with people all the time but also do a lot of solo runs. I used to run with a group, and now I have my own group. We talk all.the.time!! I love them — they’re awesome! I am definitely one of the stats of female half marathon finishers. I did the Chilly Half, the New York City Half, the Oakville Half and the Detroit Half this year.
To bring in the New Year, my husband and I are going to dinner with some friends at a
very cool restaurant.
Happy New Year to you and your gorgeous family!

I ran so much more when I had a friend to run with me. I moved a couple years and since then my running has gone wayyyyy down. I guess I could run with my husband but who would watch the kids?! Yeah, and his 6’1″ legs go sooo much faster than my 5’4″ legs so I just don’t see it happening.

I do want to get back to running more in 2013 though. I don’t know about a half marathon but more 5k’s and 10′s in my future would for sure be fun.

The last person I ran with was my hubby. We don’t talk because he is faster than I am so when he runs with me and I start talking he goes faster and encourages me to try and keep up (I promise he is not just trying to avoid talking to me lol). I am joining USA fit this year (a nation wide marathon/half marathon training/running group), you should see if there is one in your area Janae! The one out here in NM has an awesome group of people!
My plans for tonight are to hang out with my parents who are visiting from KS, we like to play card games.

Running with other is the best. I have made so many great friends thru running. And yes there is something about running that makes you just spew out your life story to a total stranger within a few miles. It’s like running and therapy all together, I love it.

Those ice cream sandwiches are the BEST, good luck to you just eating one.

The last person I ran with was my running buddy Kim, for a long run yesterday morning. We meet up most weekends to do our long runs together and we talk the entire time. I have kind of run with a running group… I participated with Team in Training my freshman year of college and all of my long runs were with a group of 6 or so people, it was a blast!

I’m just staying home in some comfy clothes and watching the festivities on TV for new years. My husband works nights, so he went to bed around 6:15 PM and we moved recently, and haven’t met too many people yet. Kind of lame, but I think I may enjoy a low key evening ringing in the new year with my puppy dogs.

I am happy to say I helped us women reach the 950,000 this year :-) I ran the Blue Ridge HM, Varmint 1/2 marathon, Haunted Half Marathon, and Richmond American Family Fitness HM!

I hope y’all have a wonderful New Years!

I would love to have a group to run with. I have a few friends that run but our schedules are crazy and we can rarely run together but I love to when we can. I’m a slow runner but hoping to find a group I can run with.
I’m spending New Years with my daughter (she’s 19) and cuddling in a warm blanket.
I finished FOUR half marathons this year! I hope my foot heals better and I can do FOUR more next year. I love them!

You’d think with so many women finishing half and full marathons they’d be able to produce shirts that actually fit us! What’s the deal with giving unisex shirts at races! My husband has more of my race shirts than I do!

The last person I ran with would have to be my best friend during track practice….3 years ago. I kind of tend to run on my treadmill. In my basement. Watching Ellen. With my cat sleeping next to me. So maybe Ellen and my cat, to be more accurate?
My New Years Eve plans consisted of watching 2012 and laughing because it never happened. (but now I’m thinking I just jinxed myself and the rest of the world..)

Hope you and your family have a Happy New Year!!

I ran two half marathons this year- both were PB’s (when I ran them) too :) I love the half marathon, it’s by far my favourite distance to run though I love the marathon too.

I’d be really interested to see stats on the percentage of males/ females running other distances too, especially marathons and ultras!

Oh my gosh, the Sublime ice cream sandwiches from Trader Joe’s are such a treat! Sometimes when we’ve made a dinner that turned out to be disappointing, my husband will say, “I think this calls for some Sublime,” and so we tuck into one of their ice cream sandwiches and all is right again with the world. :) Have a great day!

Three half-marathons in the past 3 months (2:30, 2:19, 2:12). I like half marathons, but they always seem to end way too quickly. That’s why I’m moving on to full marathons in 2013.

Most of the time, I like to run by myself, but I try to do long runs with a friend. Somehow, starting a run in the dark on an early Saturday morning doesn’t seem so daunting if you’re chatting with a buddy.
