Running in the rain is actually quite fun.

Do you like Billy’s new snuggie?

DSC 5772

My newest routine is to hang out in my pajamas until around noon and then suddenly remember that I want to go running and change into my clothes and head out the door.  By this time today it was drizzling outside and I did something that I am very proud of, I ran outside in the rain.  I am the world’s biggest weather wimp and instead of going to the gym to run I actually went outside.

About a mile into the run it started pouring and Billy texted me to see if he needed me to come pick up my phone so that it wouldn’t get ruined.  He is a good man and he really cares about electronics.   I waited at a random building for him to come.

He grabbed my phone and to prove that he really is the coolest he took some pictures without me even asking because he knew that I wanted to prove to you guys that I actually chose running in the rain over running on a treadmill.

Today’s 8 miles was the most fun run that I have done in a LONG time.  Running in puddles and having a soaking wet ponytail is a really good time.

And the best refuel ever after a cold wet rain (followed directly by a Dark Chocolate Cherry SOYJOY bar).

What are you up to today?

Is it raining or snowing where you are?

Favorite snack food lately?

-Those pb filled pretzels are incredible.  Thank you Joe.

Nice job on the run in the rain!!

It’s snowing here. I would much rather have rain. I’m over the snow already and the winter isn’t even half over.

Hahah! Awesome job. I’m glad Billy saved your phone, too.

It’s snowing pretty hard here. It started about half way into my long run, so that was an adventure!

My favorite snack lately is all of my Christmas stocking candy!

Sarah December 29, 2012 at 2:07 pm

I don’t mind running in the rain as long as its warm. Billy should have asked if you wanted him to run (puddle jump) WITH you! Then he’d win the best husband award! This week I definitely didn’t get out of pajamas all day a couple times with the exception of my runs. Totally okay with it too.

I’ve been running in the rain quite frequently in The Netherlands and it’s so fun!! I’m back in Canada now and there is about 2 feet of snow on the ground right now (at least).

Running in the rain is a lot of fun! Of course living in Washington State if I didn’t feel that way I’d never run! It’s funny how you always start by avoiding the puddles so you don’t get your shoes wet, but somewhere along the way you just give up and start having fun running through them!

I love running in the rain! :) The only thing better is running in freshly fallen snow…which I did this afternoon! Keep up the great work-it takes a bit more motivation when the sun isn’t shining!

ahhh yes. running in the rain. i live in portland, oregon right now so i know all about that. however, downpour is less rare and i’m thoroughly impressed.

i am soaking up the last of my 24 hours in missouri today with my mom and grandparents and sister! i attempted a run this morning where it was 19 degrees out (but felt like 9). it was terrible. i made it 2 miles before my lungs could no longer take the frigid air and i had to call it quits. i’m not cut out for this cold weather exercising! better than nothing though :)

In Fl during the summer it is impossible to not get caught in the occassional thunderstorm and I actually do enjoy it. But it’s so much harder to leave the house when it’s already raining!

You’re better than me! I refuse to run in the rain. I just caaan’t with that all up in my face! haha!
Great run girl!

I’m following my mom around while she grocery shops today. Quality time, ya know!

Good for you for getting out there! I kind of like running in the rain or snow. It’s the wind that I find really annoying.

If I didn’t run in the rain or snow, I would never run living in Canada. I much prefer snow cause I don’t get wet and my feet are cushioned.. but I’ll do both. I got the best down running jacket from lululemon on boxing day so am loving that on my runs in -20.

My 8 month prego snack of choice is cereal at 2 am.. just got the apple cinn. cheerios today!

I’m still scared of rainy runs after the crazy CIM storm! But looks like you had fun :) Favorite snack lately is pink lady apples with sunflower seed butter and chia… yum!

Woohoo! Way to run in the rain, girl, that’s awesome. I have been forcing myself to run in single-digit wind chill this week. I tend to build it up in my head like it’s going to be just AWFUL, but then once I get warmed up, it’s really not too bad.

I love running in the run! I’m also quite the weather wimp when it comes to running, though. It’s been snowing here lately, which I can deal with, but the iciness is NOT my friend.

I approve of the snuggie :-) It’s not raining but is sure is cold! And damp which makes it feel colder! Favorite snack lately are snyders flavored pretzels, teddy grahams, and peanut m&m’s (not all together.)

I’m not much for running in the rain but I did have my first snow run of the season today. I enjoy snow running. It was a wettish snow though so I was drenched and cold at the end!

Love running in the rain, but only when its warm. Todays run was a brisk 30, starting with a little rain, turning to snow!! Favorite snack lately is Trader Joes Cookie Butter on a spoon!!!!

I actually ran n the snow today ;) People in the race I did had those cleat things for ice that you strap over your shoes for the ice…..they are hardcore! My favorite snack right now is carrots and hummus…yum!

Love that rainy running picture of you! I used to like running in the rain…. until this morning. Did a hilly 20-miler in the pouring rain and hated every step of it. I think the kicker was that it was so cold and windy that my rain-soaked clothes made me chilled to the bone. My hands were too cold to open the GU packets… bleh.

But now I’m sitting in front of a nice warm fire and wondering if I should do it again tomorrow :)

I am working now and won’t be off until 11 pm. Before I came to work we started pulling out our carpet and repainting our living room and hallway. I leftmy husband with our three boys to continue the fun project!
Ithas been snowing off and on here today. My husband and I were able to get in a 4.25 mile run on the snowy, slushy streets this morning. I actually really like running in the rain and snow as long as the temps are ok.
My favorite snack food right now is trail mix or string cheese.

Way to run in the rain! We have gotten about 6 1/2 inches of snow since yesterday (Wisconsin). My half-marathon training starts next week… so I need to stop living in denial and realize that running in the snow is just going to have to happen!

My go to snack right now is one ounce of cheddar cheese, 2 dove dark chocolates, or sensible portions Apple straws or Veggie straws… I am following weight watchers so I’m trying to be super good/sticking to plan!

I’ll take rain over snow any day! Although today it was a balmy 46*F in Anchorage today. But prior to that it has been *very* cold!

I enjoy running in the rain if it’s not super cold. I just don’t like the wet shoes. I’m super particular and I hate wet shoes.

We have snow…it snowed several inches last week and then a little more the last couple of days…not a fan :(

Favorite snack right now is salted roasted almonds.

It snowed here today and was below freezing. I don’t dare run outside when it is this cold. It kills my throat and it ends up sore!! I always run on the treadmill so I can watch my dvr’ed shows. I know, I’m pathetic! Good job on your run!

I LOVE that photo of you through the car window!!! I ran in the rain today so left my phone/camera at home to keep it dry. To be fair, it was a bit of drizzle and I wasn’t very wet at all at the end, but I felt tough anyway!!!

All I got to say ‘I loovvee’ running in the rain. And you can also put your phone in a small plastic bag so if wont get wet.

I like running in the rain, but will take the cold over rain and heat any day. My last run was through five inches of snow. ColdGear and StayWarm are my BFFs. :-D Visions of hot tea and warm blankets help in those final frozen moments.

Running my first marathon tomorrow and it is supposed to rain the entire time. Thanks for posting this and saying it was a good run. I’m kind of dreading 26.2 miles in the cold rain, but I am hoping that once I get out there with 2500 other crazies, my mind will be taken off of the miserable weather!
