I have been reading some fashion blogs lately (because I didn’t think that spending 30% of my day reading blogs was enough). They always have cool pictures of them walking down a cool street so I thought that I would attempt the same thing. Only problem is that they probably shower and don’t wear the same make-up from the previous day for their photos like I did.
My in-laws must think I am really cool.

We seriously drove over an hour and a half and through LA traffic just for two reasons: taquitos and the green sauce that they smother the taquitos in. We order these by the rounds.

Another first for Brooke. Going to Olvera Street is a must when everyone is in town and since the BIL in the below picture is leaving us today we had to go last night.

Actually there is one more reason that we go and it is for the Mexican Pink Sugar Cookie. I have never liked these in the last 6 years that I have participated in this tradition because they are not usually sweet enough or soft enough but last night’s batch made the cut for me.

Just eating cookies and walking.

Attempting a family photo because we hadn’t had one yet for the day and that would just be wrong.

The whole clan before we left back for home.

When we got home Billy’s grandparents were there waiting for us. It is going to be a good time.

Cross your fingers that this silly cold is long gone because I have some running shoes to use in this beautiful weather.

Do you read any other type of blogs besides running/fitness/food ones? Which ones?
Favorite Mexican dish? Favorite Mexican restaurant?
When do you have to go back to work or school?
-Billy doesn’t have to go back to school until the 14th!

that is a cool street! pink cookies! wow, so much exciting stuff. favorite mexican dish is a toss-up between enchiladas and fajitas. depends how cheesy i’m feeling.
I am in love with that jacket!!!! Oh my gosh it is so cute/stylin! I don’t go back until the 29th… the perks of being in college :)
VERY cool road and you look just too stylish posing!! Lucky Billy, I have to go back on the 7th and I’m trying to enjoy every moment.
I am all about the guacamole. I just smother everything with it. I read a couple fashiony blogs but usually they just make me want to spend money I don’t have lol speaking of, I love your brown boots! Where are they from?
Mike was back to work yesterday, so I decided to work for half of the day and then spend the rest with my family who is home for the holidays. It’s sad that when Mike is gone, my choice is work.
Looks like you guys are having a great time with Billy’s family!
I’m not really a girlie girl but those pink cookies are so pretty!
oooh, billy’s got a nice chunk of time off, enjoy it!
That street you’re on looks like there’s a lotta stuff happening!
I’m so in love with reading blogs! Lots of running ones, and lots of fashion ones as well. I can never throw together a cute outfit myself and always wonder how they do it!!
I’m all about writing/reading/book blogs!
LOVE your coat! :)
I dabble in some home decor blogs (Bower Power, Young House Love, and iHeartOrganizing). I also like to read some book blogs–mostly Young Adult novel blogs, because I’m just that cool :-)
I love the jacket you’re wearing!
I read a ton of healthy living blogs already, and spend WAY too much time doing so, I’m a little scared to add any more to my gReader!
Hey! Love the glamour shot:)
What are some of the fashion blogs that you are following? I am trying to follow more fashion blogs, but for some reason I am having a hard time finding some good ones! Thanks!
I went back to work yesterday. Blah. I like your fashionista picture.
Can’t get enough of your posts! Loves ‘em!!! I am lavishing in all the posts I previously missed from you b/c I’m a teacher and life/prepping/assessing/stressing often gets in the way of reading, but now it’s winter break and it’s GLORIOUS!!! So excited to catch up. My favorite Mexican dish would have to be my step-mom and Lita’s homemade bunuelos… it used to be their tamales but then I went veggie. I miss those the most;)
I love your family pic, Brooke has the best expression! Also your BIL holding Brooke like that (in the big group photo) always makes me laugh, she is so relaxed.
The best Mexican food I have ever eaten is the burrito with red chili from Sandiago’s in Albuquerque, NM, yummy and there is a great view!
I have to go back to school on the 8th but my parents are coming to visit today so I still have lots of fun to squeeze in!
What a cute family photo!
I go back to work today. Whomp whomp whomp… :(
I totally think you nailed the model/fashion pose.. ;) It looks like you guys had a lot of fun out and about! The food looks delicious too..gotta love Mexican food!
I unfortunately had to go back to work yesterday. I am still not happy about it, but at least I can live vicariously through you and Billy while you do/enjoy lots of fun things!
Work it, girl! I read a couple of fashion blogs back in the day, but then I got a little overwhelmed at my obvious lack of quirky fashion sense, so I stopped. Makeup and beauty related things are what I have a pretty big interest in, though, so I read a lot of those kind of blogs.
I really only read fitness and food blogs. Occasionally I’ll be looking for something specific online and come across a make up or fashion blog, but they’re not what I typically read.
Mexican food typically equals: veggie fajitas with corn tortillas, guac, and salsa. Unless a restaurant has specific vegan options, this is my safe go to.
No work or school, for me. Currently studying for the GRE like crazy for my exam in February.
I read the occasional celebrity gossip blog, not gonna lie. But I have been cutting down on those & focusing on more fitness related and running blogs because they are much more motivational.
My favorite mexican food is by far a cheese enchilada! Soo tasty. I have been missing authentic mexican food since I moved to New York City because I lived in San Diego for 5 years which is about 25 minutes from the mexican border!
I’m back at work today…& sick :(
I love cheese enchiladas and spanish rice. Its all I ever order at Mexican restaurants.
Fun, I haven’t been up there since I was little. We will have to go soon those taquitos look amazing.
I have found some really nice blogs thru The Influence Network I am loving. Fun, strong, creative Christian women who are all helping inspire eachother.
Hope you feel better soon, cold go away!!!
Aww looks like so much fun!! I mainly read running blogs, I get my fashion inspiration from Pinterest! I had to get back to work yesterday, but luckily I’m working from home all week!
By the time I’m done reading my favorite healthy living and running blogs, I usually need to get on with my day. I do enjoy fashion blogs, and some of the blogs I already read throw in some fashion here and there. I’m always down to consider a new blog to add to my list. Any recommendations for fashion ones?
Yum! Eating and scrolling is the best!
I have a very light schedule the next week. Only working a total of four hours!
My favourite blogs (non running) are natthefatrat and 101cookbooks. I have no sense of style so I nick all Nat’s fashion ideas…and I can’t cook so I try all Heidi’s recipes!!!
I hope you kick that cold fast! It seemed like my whole family was sick this Christmas and I hope I’m wrong, but it seems like I might be catching it. Time to start the Emergen-C!
KatieDidWhat!! love the fashion!! and Much Love, Illy!
Hmmmm….Enchiladas!!
January 14!! still got a couple more weeks :)
Ohhh those taquitos! You think next time you go you could maybe bribe the recipe out of them ? ;-)
What a fun day! Those taquitos look delicious!
Mexican pink sugar cookies?!!? That sounds amazing!
You guys are all so cute…well mostly Brooke! :) Olvera Street is fun and makes for some great pics, too! Next time your in San Diego, check out Old Town, another great spot for walking around, good picture opportunities, and great food!!
LILLY’S STYLE at http://simplyme091909.blogspot.com/ is a fun fashion blog. She not only provides links to each piece in her outfits, she gives you links for other less-expensive options to get her same look for less!
A BOWL FULL OF LEMONS at http://www.abowlfulloflemons.net/ and I HEART ORGANIZING at http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/ are great organization blogs. As a new homeowner, this blog comes in handy!
Pink cookies!! They look awesome!
I’m heading back to work on the third! Wish it was longer!
ughhh i have to go back to school on jan. 2nd!! so mean!
Well, you may not be a fashion blogger, but your boots are pretty awesome! I’ve got until the 2nd so I’m trying to enjoy the time I have left.
I go back to work on the 2nd.
The Kidless Kronicles
I really love simple street tacos (meat, onions, cilantro… and tomato salsa if we’re going to get fancy).
The taquitos and the green sauce look totally worth the drive! Cute family photos!
I’m a book blogger so the extra blogs I read are the food/fitness/running ones.
I went to The Whole Enchilada last night for dinner
Oh, man, those taquitos are great! You’re so close to my house we could have met!
We just got back from Mexico yesterday and I would have to say authentic Mexican food is my favorite!
So fun! I love your shoes. :) Glad you are enjoying the Christmas break and the nice weather. I am so jealous!
My boss and his wife made tamales for Christmas…..SOOO GOOD!! He gave me one today as a snack….I think I want to start a tamale making tradition as part of my own Christmas celebration next year!! ole!!
I lovvvvvve Olvera Street!! I hope you had some churros after your taquitos!!
I don’t have to go back to work until January 7th! :)
I have one more 24 hour shift and then I’m off to Florida for the Key West Ragnar! Warm sea level running!
Your fashion picture made me laugh! I love fashion blogs too but of course I am here wearing jeans, trail shoes, and a running coat (and no, I’m not even going running LOL). I love Ain’t No Mom Jeans – http://www.aintnomomjeans.com/, have you tried that one?
