Today’s post is just a bunch of randomness because does anyone’s brain really function normally on Friday?

First, Brooke’s monkey pajamas make me so happy especially because of the large monkey on her bum.  They made me laugh hysterically at 2 am (picture taken at 8 pm even though it looks like I am tired enough for it to be 2 am, don’t you hate it when you can’t open your left eyeball?) this morning when she woke up and I saw her cuteness in these pjs.

I got that sweaty workout that I was craving.  No sweat in my eyeballs but definitely a little chin sweat.  It wasn’t because I pushed myself but because the ac was turned off in the gym and the fans up above move at .002 miles per hour.  It was just a little hot in there but I thoroughly enjoyed the sweat and it even motivated me to take a shower right after I was done.

Lunch appetizer was my new favorite thing.  I can never decide if I want to dip my apple in yogurt or pb so I have come to terms with my indecisiveness and now dip each bite into both things.

Photo 2

Lunch was a chicken salad, a raisin walnut bar from TJ’s and kettle corn.  I can’t believe that I forgot that I had that bag of kettle corn and when I saw it as I was getting lunch together and it was better than finding $20 in your pocket even though if I found $20 in my pocket I could go buy 5 bags of kettle corn.

A race to check out!  “The first annual Saints and Sinners Half Marathon will take place on October 27, 2012 in Boulder City, Nevada.  This gorgeous destination race starts 20 minutes outside of Las Vegas, NV in Boulder City overlooking Lake Mead.  The course overlooks gorgeous Lake Mead nearly the entire 13.1 miles and takes you through the historic Hoover Dam Tunnel trail where you will get to taste a bit of history as you run through 5 of the tunnels used to create nearby Hoover Dam.  Talk about inspiring!  Not only is it a gorgeous run, we are going to have a little fun along the way with “saints” and “sinners” aid stations.  Water/gatorade vs. donuts/cookies.  You decide if you’re feeling a little more devilish or saintly.  Vegas is known for its fantastic Halloween parties – come make a weekend trip and make sure you get your run in Saturday morning.  The race will be professionally chip timed and racers will receive Technical T-shirts and a finisher’s medal.  We are also offering a Kid’s run and team relay options!”

Sounds like a party to me!  Time for me to convince Billy that we need to take a road trip to go run this race!

Randomness: can NOT focus on work even though I have tons of it.

Considering a trail 10K in early October but honestly I am scared cause I am so out of shape and not nearly the pregnant runner that you were.

Love apples and PB!!!

Reply

Randomness: Party at mattress stores tonight–we’re getting/checking out a new one. Wahoo! Crazy date night for sure.

I LOVE apples and AB. Yumm. Oh and with cinnamon.

Love Brooke’s pjs! So cute.

Last weekend my boyfriend and I drove around San Antonio looking specifically for kettlecorn, haha. Of course we found some at Costco. :)

And I’m not signed up for it yet, but I’m very seriously considering registering for the Austin, TX Livestrong half marathon in February.

Randomness: the front door to the office of my work broke.

Apples and any nutbutter is delicious :)

Planning on a “long” run this weekend. Hoping to get back to 8 or 9 miles.

I want those PJ’s :)

Tried out my new running shoes and I’m in love. I’m a new runner, so these are my first legitimate running shoes. I can’t believe the difference.

Speaking of random, I saw a car with a sign and streamers on the back that said, “JUST DIVORCED!” I couldn’t help but giggle.

KETTLE CORN. Even better if it’s purchased at a festival and eaten when still warm.

I’ve never had an apple with yogurt. I need to try that. I try to stay away from uncontrolled peanut butter because I can’t stop myself.

Friday randomness—- hmmmm with 2 kids in school there’s not much randomness right now, it’s all pretty routine!
I did think of you this morning while I did an 8 mile tempo run in heat index 91 lovely Florida humidity. Don’t worry, I got enough eyeball sweat for the 2 of us.
Apples with peanut butter (anything with peanut butter)
Next race is the Color me Rad 5k, then Marine Corp 1/2 marathon the following weekend, Pumpkin 10 miler 3 weeks after that, and Pensacola Marathon 3 weeks after that! I’m geared up!!! :) (regular popcorn with butter and lots of salt for me!)

P.S. both of my girls had that sweet spikey hair like Brooke! Loved it!!!

Reply

you need to try this recipe: http://skinnyms.com/skinny-peanut-butter-yogurt-dip/ I just made it the other day, and if you love PB and yogurt, you’ll love this!

Next race is my first half marathon the weekend after next!! I ran a 12 mile PDR and long run pace record today — and definitely got sweat in my eyes when I walked through the front door. (Why is it that I’m somewhat sweaty while running but super disgustingly sweaty once I stop?! Seriously, I’m so curious!)
I eat my apples with almond butter and/or a protein butter that I mix up (usually both). Yum! :)

Reply

Adorable jammies! Totally a kettle corn girl! :) I have a 50 mile race on 10/6..excited and nervous! Lol glad you got your sweat on! Have a great night :)

Reply

I like sliced apples in a cheese quesadilla! I’m weird, I know. :)
And I LOVE kettle corn!

Reply

PS- I also like to dice up apples and put them on homemade pizza with pepperoni, hamburger, onion, green pepper, and peppercinis. YUM :) it’s the perfect combination of sweet and salty.

Reply

There’s nothing cuter than a big monkey face on a baby butt. Nothing. Except maybe spikey baby hair.

I like apples w/ pb and/or yogurt too. Yum.

Hey there! Love the cute PJs….I almost bought a polkadot onesie that I saw at Target a month ago just because it was so darn cute. Even though I don’t have kids. Yet. Shopping for future kids is okay, right?

Friday randomness? My husband just accepted the job in Utah, so we will be moving to your old state in a month (or less!!!) Pretty excited – have no idea how this is going to go, but we are super excited (in Logan) – he flew out to look at the town and couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful it is up there! I’m excited to start running around outside there :) Any info on the location and housing options would be awesome! I’m all ears (we are looking to rent for first year?)

I eat apples any way they come – best is chopped up into squares, add dried cranberries and raisins – sprinkle half cup of instant oats on top – drizzle hot water over – and that’s my apple oatmeal (with some brown sugar too). Breakfast for fall – for sure!

Haven’t ran a race in my 12 years of hardcore running, but am excited to try trail running once we move. I think that will be my goal for the rest of the year. That – and to get moved in one piece with 3 dogs :)

Can we choose popcorn chips? I can’t eat real popcorn – gets stuck in my tonsil gaps from when I had them taken out when I was 21 – but just found these new popcorn chips made in Popcorn, Indiana? Chipins: http://www.popcornindiana.com/product_type/chip'ins

Good stuff!

Brooke is adorable. I had a best friend when I was growing up – her name was Brookee (with the strong long “e” at the end) – I still remember her. Hope your Friday and weekend is lovely! Take care!

Reply

I agree with the popcorn Indiana reference – they have some awesome products, but you can’t beat TJ’s products. I am obsessed with all things popcorn – I don’t discriminate!

Reply

The first Trader Joe’s near Dallas opened up today and I can’t wait to see what all the hype is about.
I’m running a 10k next weekend – my first race since Memorial Day. I’m so excited.

Reply

I hate when gyms are super hot. I always think, it’s not like I wasn’t going to sweat enough as it is! And Brooke’s pajamas are adorable!!

Reply

I am finally calling myself a runner…I think. I’ve only ran a 5K. Thinking about a 15K in Albuquerque, NM on September 29th(still a 3 hr drive from home). BUT it’s the Hot Chocolate Run!!! Hello, what could be bad about that?! I have been getting faster. 6m/9:33 pace but eeek I don’t have confidence that I can do it and I still feel slow. Tommorow is the test. I am going to run the 15K at home and if I don’t die I will register. (-:

Love working out in a hot gym–that way I sweat and feel like I really worked my bum off even if it was an easy day;-)

Reply

Friday Randomness – I have braided un-braided and re-braided my hair about 12 times today because I cannot make up my mind about how I want to wear it. Thankfully this will change in about 5 minutes when I have to put it up in a ponytail to go for a run.
Kettlecorn. But I prefer to make it myself. Mostly because I’m cheap.
Those pj’s are too cute for words

Reply

Saints and sinners I love it! Sounds like a race I would do just because of the name :-)

I love colored popcorn! I just found a recipe for how to make it on Pinterest so I think I will make some this weekend to celebrate my 20 mile run tomorrow morning.

Reply

Yay for sweat! I love apples in pb and yogurt too! They’re really good with coconut butter too. Have a great weekend!

Reply

My Friday randomness was a nice morning 4mi run, a lunchtime gym workout with my fiancé, getting my hair did, and now headed out of town to celebrate my daddy’s birthday!
Def need toppings on my apples ~ PB is my favorite! I’ve always loved apple pie, apple sauce and apple juice but hated regular apples until I tried em with the goods!
My next race is a 5k in 2wks benefitting the neonatal ICU where I’m a nurse, followed by my first century bike ride the next day!
We just had two bags of regular popcorn with our movie last night, but I like kettle corn better! I’m also excited about the 3-flavored holiday mix coming out in a few months!
PS- absolutely loving Brooke’s hair, outfits and all the pics! Keep em coming and have a fantastic Friday night =)

Reply

That TJ’s kettle corn is my favourite thing EVER. I convince Zack to let me get it every time we go. I’m pretty much a wreck if we don’t have any in the house ;)

Reply

I love her pj’s!

I saw on a blog that a woman bought kettle corn cookies from TJ’s. I haven’t checked mine yet, but um…..I might buy them all. Kettle corn in a cookie form. Yum. I love kettle corn so much. I like cheese and apples.

Reply

Randomness: while I was out walking today, I realized how ridiculously happy the smell of freshly cut grass makes me, and how bad I wished there were some sprinklers to run through.

Reply

kettle corn or regular popcorn??
more like ALL POPCORN

seriously, i’ve never met a popcorn i didn’t like :D

Reply

That half sounds so cool! Do you think they make those PJs in my size?

Reply

Aww love the monkey pjs. You should get a matching pair haha :). Kettle corn is the best. My work doesn’t have air conditioning so I currently sweat like that everyday, except I’m not on a treadmill!

Reply

my friday randomness is… I live a few blocks from the train tracks and for some unknown reason the trains have been stopped on the tracks just blowing their whistles… at first I ignored it thinking nothing of it, but now… after about 3 hours of constant horns, im about ready to jump off something high.. just kidding! but honestly, i’m slowly going crazy!

Signed up for New York Marathon in November. Hoorayy! But now I hear Meb and Ryan Hall are running New York too. Rumor is they signed up once they heard I had a nagging injury, so now they think they have a chance to win.

Joking! Obviously. I did the math, and if I raced them and had a ten mile head start, it would then be a close finish.

I am so thrilled these two biggies will be out there. You’re buddies with Meb, so ask if he can pull me into the elite corral for the start.

Reply

Why are little kids in pj’s so darn cute.
Its only been one week since my race, and I told Chris tonight I feel lost without having the next one on the calendar. I am off to look up some options.

Reply

Apples with sharp cheddar! I just had that for dinner.

Reply

Her pj’s….ahhh! Love. They would make me want to get up at 2am happily for a feeding. Just can’t get enough!!
Ok, so now I’m getting even more jealous about you having a TJ’s…and us not having one. Those raisin walnut bars…YUM! Have you tried those cat cookies everyone raves about? I’m dying to try those too!
& I like pb on my apples.
Thinking of doing the River Run in Jacksonville next year…it will be my first race post baby :)

Reply

Im running another half this weekend here in D.C! Would LOVE to come out to vegas and do the saints/sinners one! Vegas is one of my favorite places…any excuse to get out there :) let me know if you end up signing up!!!

Reply

Hi! Love Brooke’s PJ’s. Very cute.

I’m just glad it’s Friday and there’s nothing planned. We’re just going to hang out and maybe turn in early.

I have the Iron Girl 5K Race on Sunday. Can’t wait. I’m looking forward to brunch afterwards. : )

Trader Joe has the best popcorn. My new fav is the Herb popcorn. It’s addicting.

Reply

You need to stir that peanut butter into the yogurt and then dip the apples in…SO good…even better when topped with granola! Onesies in general are so cute but this monkey one has to be the best yet!

Reply

You and Brooke together is just priceless! Obviously lots of love between the two of you!!

Kettle corn is SO good! I do like to have the regular, too, though (ooh! and caramel corn!).

My first half-marathon is in November and my first triathlon is next weekend (yikes!). I’ve been blogging the process so that I can look back at how the training was from the beginning…

Have a great weekend!

Reply

Peanut butter. Forget the apples… I could eat it with a spoon! And kettle corn, def. Maybe some sort of kettle corn/pb combo? Yummy.

And a half to benefit a local children’s home in Arkansas in late October, and the Dallas Half Marathon in December. Need to start getting my tail in gear again though! You ran more consistently throughout your pregnancy than I did NOT being pregnant this summer :/ haha

Reply

I just got back from a month long trip visiting family in Washington and Oregon. We drove about 550 miles with a 2 and 4 year-old today and did not leave either one on the side of the road! :)

I eat apples with Whole Foods 365 creamy PB only. I’m a stickler for no sugar or hydrogenated oils. I actually packed it with us on our month trip! I know.

Redwood City Half Marathon on Oct. 13th! I can warm up jog to the start line. I’m excited.

Reply

Try mixing the pb with vanilla yogurt, then dip the apples. Delicious!

Reply

Oh my gosh Janae you need to do that race! I’m probably going to do it (even though I’m like twice as slow as you lol) and that area is just BEAUTIFUL. Can’t wait to see what you do once you get back up and running (!), you’re going to crush any and all races you do! Also, we have Cafe Rio here ;)

Reply

I had an apple and pb as my lunch snack yesterday. So good!

My next race is the Wineglass Marathon in three weeks!

Reply

I find it hard to focus on most days, let alone a Friday.

Love the PJs too!

Reply

I like dipping my apples in PB. Soo yummy!
Signed up to do The Color Run on 9/15/12 in Richmond, VA. Looking forward to it.
Def. like kettle corn!!!

Reply

That race sounds sooo fun!! I am running a 10 mile race in the Bronx tomorrow.

Reply

I love the animals on the butt – so adorable! Luke has a pair of PJs right now with a bear on the butt and bears on the feet too. I die everytime he wears them!
Apples –> WITH Peanut butter and lots of it. :)
Kettle corn all the way. We have a local place in town that makes the best stuff. Scott and I can eat an entire bag in one sitting – thankfully we don’t do that too often.

Reply

A snack I use to eat when I ate dairy and LOVED and one of the few things I miss: 1 sliced apple + 1/2 cup vanilla greek yogurt + peanut butter + pumpkin pie spice/cinnamon. Mix and inhale as fast as possible.

Next race will either be the Firefly 5K here in Atlanta in a few weeks (who can turn down a night run with glow sticks?) or signing up for the Thanksgiving 1/2 (Atlanta) followed by the Austin Marathon (my first one….kinda freaked out to register).

I use to eat bagged popcorn every night and then read about it potentially killing me (sigh…) so now I have kernels in my pantry and find myself rarely making popcorn- it’s so much effort and so many dishes result!

Reply

You MUST buy the cocoa almond butter from tj’s, it’ll knock your socks off! In my opinion it’s the best thing to dip apples in, or just eat straight out off the jar.

Reply

I ran the Angels & Demons with Spencer in Jan ’11. It was gorgeous, but hilly! You are simply glowing Janae! I have loved reading every Brooke update–keep them coming!!

Reply

Skippy Super Chunk is my favorite!!! I can’t ever decide if i want a apple and peanut butter or banana and peanut butter. Anything with peanut butter is number 1 in my book. I wish I could come to CA from AL and play with Brooke. She’s the sweetest little chunk with all the hair. It’s precious!!

Reply

I got a similar onesie for my nephew, the animal on the butt is too cute!!

Reply

My aunt makes this dip. Its yogurt, peanut butter (CHUNKY) and honey. Its awesome with apples…. or anything. http://www.fitsugar.com/Snack-Attack-Creamy-Peanut-Butter-Dip-Fruit-Slices-2981043
