We have really got to start being less adventurous….

May 2, 2012

When Billy got home from school at 5 I told him that I really wanted to do something fun and exciting.  For once I didn’t need a nap and we had no other plans, I wanted to be adventurous.

His idea for our adventure:  organize our ginormous basket of socks while watching Jeopardy (okay, the Jeopardy part was my idea but I was embarrassed to tell you.  I am secretly just trying to get a little smarter and I thought Jeopardy would be the best way to do that…way better than reading books).

DSC 0654

Billy has a sad face because those are all of the unmatched loner socks.  That is actually pretty good for me, keeping things organized isn’t one of my strengths.

We also somehow had one of my dad’s socks and one of niece’s socks.  I guess we know where I got my big feet from:)

DSC 0656

Our other brilliant and adventurous idea was to make homemade pizza.   This sucker hit the spot, the crust was super crisp on the bottom which is my favorite.  I know I have said this before but the key to making homemade pizza is to use a pizza stone and make sure you add lots of cheese.

DSC 0659

We used this PIZZA CRUST recipe!!!!

Here comes the bestest part of my day….

DSC 0657

The cutest HOLLY sent me this adorable present for our little girl.  We are proud to be Cougars (even though we will most likely be going somewhere else for law school in the fall).  Not going to lie, the baby clothes get me more excited than anything else.

You have a few more days to enter my GIVEAWAY!!

————————————————

After dinner we made a special dessert….what do you think we made?  What would you make for a late night dessert?

-The recipe will be in the next post.

What college T-shirt would you put your child in…..what college did you attend?

Did you watch the Biggest Loser Finale last night?  You are only allowed to say whether or not you watched it…not who won.

Do you match your socks together when you are folding your laundry?

-Pre-billy no, now I attempt to if I remember.

Claire @ Live and Love to Eat May 2, 2012 at 6:10 am

My favorite late night dessert is definitely popcorn – kettlecorn if possible. :) My future babies will be decked in Pitt gear, but probably more Steelers & Pirates stuff – just Pittsburgh-oriented. :)

I’m totally convinced my washing machines eats my socks :) I try and match them but I always have odd ones. My husband and I both attend Old Dominion so I would have to go with them.

I do match my socks, my mom always made me as a child so it stuck with me :) my son actually has two of those onesies one for my school – Syracuse University and one for my husbands – University of Florida. I’m going to throw the SU one out though, it’s too expensive to go there and I don’t want him to get any ideas!!!! :)

I match all of my socks in the laundry, but Mike likes his loose in the drawer. Weirdo.

I know who won the Biggest Loser. They all did so great, it amazes me every time I see before and after pics!

I match my socks together because its easy. I only buy socks with colors and/or patterns on them somewhere so they are easy to identify. My boyfriends socks are all slightly different but look very similar so he never separates them. It would take forever!

I went to Seton Hall University so my kids would wear Pirates shirts (our mascot) :)

Sometimes those nights of sock matching and pizza making are the best. We headed out to celebrate our recent accomplishments. But, we only went for happy hour because that is all we can afford and made it home in time to watch The Biggest Loser. So glad this season is over. The drama was terrible.
I went to The University of Maine, Salzburg College, Colorado States, and now I am at The University of Wyoming. I’ve been around the block with colleges.

how do you use your pizza stone? every time we’ve tried ours it’s been a complete bust then i scrape all the toppings off and eat w/o the crust.

Reply

Janae May 2, 2012 at 8:12 am

HEY JEN!! First we heat up the over to 425 degrees and put the stone in there for 1-2 hour so that it gets really hot, we put cornmeal on it and then the dough and cook. Do you heat up the stone before you use it? Maybe try adding more flour to your dough to make it less likely to stick. Hope this helps.

Reply

JenG May 2, 2012 at 1:43 pm

Yeah we’ve tried heating it up before, but maybe we do need more flour or maybe it wasn’t long enough. I see some pizza trials in our near future! thanks for sharing your tips!

Did you make your cinnamon roll thingy that tastes like donuts from pinterest? That sounds pretty good. I have been craving good old chocolate chip cookies or my caramel brownies, but we have a ton of over ripe bananas, so I will provably make banana whoopie pies today. Yum!

Went to Utah state. My kids have apparel from there and I think it is super cute still, even though they are older.

Can I just say how much I LOVE that the biggest loser finale is an hour long now instead of the three hours it used to be? I just thought it was weird to sit for so long while watching people lose weight (never mind the bowl of ice cream I eat while watching. Ssshhhh)
