2 Awesome Internet Finds

May 4, 2012

A few days ago at Costco I was able to talk Billy into spending $9 on grapes because I told them they would last me at least 2 weeks and therefore they would actually be a great deal.

4lbs of grape /  4 days  / 1 girl = 1 lb of grapes eaten a day = A very sad and gloomy morning when I remembered I was all out and had to do without my favorite 8 a.m. tradition of grape eating.

Today’s workout was a one mile run (just to test out the ankle and wahoo it felt great) and 45 minutes on the elliptical.  Fridays are always awesome at work and today was even better because it is Teacher Appreciation Week (pretty sure this is the 3rd time this year they have celebrated this) and so they had a BBQ for us.

I usually have a salad for lunch every day but now I might convert over to a daily noon burger.  The white stuff on the plate was a mixture of vanilla pudding, cool whip and fruit…WOW.  What you do not see: the 45 strawberries that I consumed before and after the photo.

So far my plan for tomorrow is that I am going to run the 1/2 but call my mom to pick me up (the course is right by their house) if anything starts hurting.  I am addicted to the racing scene and all of my friends will be there so I absolutely cannot wait for tomorrow but want to be smart and play it safe too.  The last bus leaves at 5:30 a.m. so it will be an early morning for us!

2 awesome internet finds of the day:

A fartlek workout from Kara Goucher that I can’t wait to try out (although I probably won’t go for 104 minutes;)

2.  Cinnamon-sugar is my thing lately and I found these and had a minor heart attack from excitement.  Click on picture for link.

Who wants to come over for a bread eating dinner followed by a slumber party and a run in the morning?  I probably sound creepy inviting you over for a slumber party, for that I am sorry.

Last day to enter my CLOTHES GIVEAWAY!

What are some awesome things that you have found on the internet recently?

What was your lunch today?

Would you rather have 4 lbs of grapes or 4 lbs of strawberries right this second?

Molly@ThisLifeIsSparkling May 4, 2012 at 3:12 pm

Catriona@ healthy for life May 4, 2012 at 3:13 pm

Good luck in your race tomorrow!!!

Jenn @ RunItMyWay May 4, 2012 at 3:15 pm

Um,YUM that bread sounds amazing!!! Cinnamon and sugar is a magical combination.

And YAY for your ankle feeling better, I’m so glad to hear it!

I’m running a 5 mile race on Saturday.. It’s been a while since I’ve done that distance, I’m excited :)

Irene May 4, 2012 at 3:15 pm

Love that picture of Kara Goucher and her son! She is so ripped. I don’t have anything this weekend but I do have a 5 K in two weeks that I’m trying to actually train for (lots of intervals and tempo runs).
Good luck at your race tomorrow!

Lindsey May 4, 2012 at 3:19 pm

I am in for the bread eating and slumber party! That looks delicious!
I have been on Pinerest for an hour, pinning anything that has chocolate and peanut butter it in…
A banana protein smoothie, quinoa salad and key lime Greek yogurt.
I am doing a mini tri – first one ever Sunday! So scared about the swimming part!

Liz @ Tip Top Shape May 4, 2012 at 3:28 pm

I go through grapes like no one’s business. Have you tried freezing them?! Who am I kidding — you so probably have. But, anyhoo, that is my favorite way to eat them. Makes the best nighttime snack!

RunInBoise May 4, 2012 at 3:29 pm

That bread would be awesome. If I made it, I would have to eat it all cuz the BF doesn’t like sweets. Sad. I’m getting marathon #2 done tomorrow! Yay!

Janae May 4, 2012 at 3:59 pm

Good luck with #2!!!! You are going to do amazing!

Abby May 4, 2012 at 3:30 pm

I would love a bread eating party… instead of just eating a bunch of it alone!
I would do anything for strawberries right now though!
And I’m running my very first marathon this weekend- so nervous!
Good luck this weekend- hope the ankle stays strong!

Kristen @ notsodomesticated May 4, 2012 at 3:34 pm

Umm probably strawberries. Or frozen yogurt. Oh wait, that wasn’t a choice, was it? ;)

Erica May 4, 2012 at 3:34 pm

I don’t think your creppy, if we lived in the same city I would be packing my overnight bag.

20K tomorrow morning! yippee.

Lunch was a left over brat from last nights grill out, and I was thinking it was a fan-mother-sticking-tastic change up from the usual salad.

Erika @ YouJustDidWhat May 4, 2012 at 3:38 pm

Running the OC HALF this weekend!
Best thing found on the internet was probably a DIY minnie mouse car that my slightly obsessed daughter would love to be driving around!

shelly May 4, 2012 at 3:38 pm

I’ve having a small party tomorrow, which happens to be cinco de mayo (not having the party because it’s cinco de mayo). I’m making some really cute pinata cookies and churros and homemade guacamole. Check my blog Tuesday for the recipes. I hope everything turns out!

Janae May 4, 2012 at 3:58 pm

Ahhhh so fun! I can’t wait for the recipes! You are going to have a blast!

Naomi M May 4, 2012 at 3:45 pm

I am doing the Provo half tomorrow! I’m nervous, because it’s my first one, but excited! Plus I signed up on a whim last week lol Do you usually work out the day before a race still?

Janae May 4, 2012 at 3:56 pm

Ahhhh so so exciting! We have to meet up! If I am racing the race then I always take the day before off but if I am just doing it for fun then usually no:) you are going to do amazing!

Caroline @ After Dinner Dance May 4, 2012 at 3:46 pm

I’m running my first 5k tomorrow! I was excited but now I’m having all my doubts and getting nervous :/

Janae May 4, 2012 at 3:56 pm

The Kidless Kronicles

Kim May 4, 2012 at 4:09 pm

Augh! I am supposed to run the Provo Half tomorrow too, but yesterday I had to have the doctor remove an ingrown toenail so now I’m freaking out because it is still do tender! Can your mom pick me up if I need her to? ;) Good luck, I hope your ankle holds out and you have FUN!!

Janae May 4, 2012 at 5:05 pm

Oh no!!! Good luck Kim! Please find me up there and yes my mom can pick us up and take us to kneaders for French toast!

Emily @ Paging Dr. Grace May 4, 2012 at 4:13 pm

1. That bread looks AMAZING.

2. Definitely strawberries.

3. Half marathon #2 tomorrow! Running the Indianapolis Mini Marathon…the largest half in the nation!

Jessica May 4, 2012 at 4:17 pm

I’m not excited for the suuper early start tomorrow, but the race should be fun! Hope to run into you there. :) And strawberries…always strawberries!

Allie May 4, 2012 at 4:21 pm

Good luck tomorrow!!!!!

What are some awesome things that you have found on the internet recently?
Chipotle copy-cat recipe for Gucamole!

What was your lunch today?
a banana and six little graham cracker squares

Would you rather have 4 lbs of grapes or 4 lbs of strawberries right this second?

Can I have both?! With whipped cream?! maybe some pudding!

Not racing :( but I am going to watch a 9 yr old and a 5 yr old play soccer tomorrow morning!!!

eep May 4, 2012 at 4:26 pm

The macaroni and cheese just came out of the oven, so I must be racing this weekend! The recipe came from the internet, and it is my awesome go-to for mac n’ cheese. I have a half marathon on Sunday, but my toe is broken in a million different places, so I am going to wait until tomorrow night to make the call. I would always take strawberries. I would take 1 lb of strawberries over 4 lbs of grapes. In fact, the farmers’ market opens here tomorrow, and I plan on getting lots of fresh local strawberries.

Megan D May 4, 2012 at 4:34 pm

I will bring the grapes. You make the bread and I will see you in a few ;)

Have so much fun tomorrow. I will pray that your ankle feels great. I am just going for a somewhat long run and praying that my knees stop feeling all weird. They don’t hurt, but I don’t want this weird feeling to turn into an injury. Boo.

I had left over BBQ pizza for lunch that we had for dinner last night. It was tasty!

Josher Hansen May 4, 2012 at 4:44 pm

Give me some cottage cheese and I could eat 4lbs of grapes right now! One of my favorite combos … ever!

I am going to be running the Provo 1/2 as well! I’m not looking forward to the commute from Bountiful to Provo so early in the morning. I might just be on that 5:30am bus.

Michelle May 4, 2012 at 4:48 pm

I have made that bread and it’s EPIC! Good luck on the half! I’m deciding if I’m going to run mine next week due to a cranky it band!

Kari @ Running Ricig May 4, 2012 at 4:50 pm

I just made cinnamon and sugar monkey bread and it fell apart when it came out of the oven. So I ate it. So much better than sharing.

No racing for me this weekend, but I’m definitely game for a slumber party.

Cristin May 4, 2012 at 4:59 pm

Good luck tomorrow!!

Katie @ Peace Love & Oats May 4, 2012 at 5:07 pm

If I didn’t have a final tomorrow I would so be there for the sleepover! Haha have a great time at the run tomorrow!

Yellow Haired Girl May 4, 2012 at 5:21 pm

Grapes! I pick grapes!

That slumber party sounds magnificent (and not creepy at all!).

Renee May 4, 2012 at 5:21 pm

That sounds like the best sleepover in the entire world.

Angela @ Happy Fit Mama May 4, 2012 at 5:37 pm

The video of Kara and her son is adorable!

4 lbs of Strawberries please!

I’m racing a 1/2 on Sunday. Hoping for a PR!!!

Andrea May 4, 2012 at 5:40 pm

I am running a 12K this Sunday, it is the farthest distance I will have ever run at one time so I am a little nervous. It is also the biggest race I have ever run so I am very excited! I also had to comment because my lunch was FroYo and I knew you would be proud. Not the best pre-race fuel. I’m actually going to Costco right now and I hope to find some delicious strawberries and samples!

Nicole @ Simply Nicole May 4, 2012 at 5:45 pm

grapes grapes grapes! but only the purple ones. i HATE green grapes.

Annette@FitnessPerks May 4, 2012 at 5:45 pm

I LOVE grapes!! I miss ’em, haven’t had them in awhile. MUST get to Costco soon! Good luck tomorrow!

For lunch I had some salad and leftover turkey/spinach lasagna. It was good!

penny@herworldlypleasures May 4, 2012 at 5:49 pm

4lbs of grapes please!

Planning on pumpkin sushi for lunch…yumz!

michelle kim May 4, 2012 at 5:53 pm

I’m running a 10K tomorrow! Should be fun because I got a bunch of people from church to sign up for the race, too!
I just went to the hospital to meet my friend’s baby girl (born yesterday). I’m sure they will be running around soon enough, like that picture of Kara and her baby :D
Have a wonderful weekend and I hope your ankle feels fine during the whole race tomorrow!

Megan @ The I Do Diaries May 4, 2012 at 6:06 pm

Good luck tomorrow, looking forward to hearing how it goes! Not gonna lie, I’m highly impressed with the mass grape consumption. I personally would opt for the strawberries, they’re my favorite fruit this time of year-in fact, I’m eating some in my dinner salad right now. Probably a good thing I’m eating a salad, as my lunch was definitely an apple…and a GIANT chocolate chip cookie. Oops.

Sarah May 4, 2012 at 6:17 pm

My marathon is Sunday!! Woot!

Whole foods salad

Yum that bread looks good

I love reading Kara’s blog! I just wish he updated it more.

Yay for the weekend and your race! Good Luck you will Rock it!

Shay @ Whine Less, Breathe More May 4, 2012 at 6:31 pm

That bread looks soooo yummy!

I would pick grapes. I like strawberries with other things, but not so much by themselves.

Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health May 4, 2012 at 6:36 pm

I’ll gladly come over!!! And I now have a craving for a burger haha ;). Hope your the rest of your Friday is awesome! And I hope the 1/2 goes well tomorrow!

CTC May 4, 2012 at 6:47 pm

wow grapes last that long? I didn’t know this! Costco trip tomorrow…stocking up.

Priscilla Bake May 4, 2012 at 6:59 pm

Strawberries. I have to say, I’ve never heard of anyone liking grapes as much as you do!

Ogden Marathon – not tomorrow, but two weeks from tomorrow! Best wishes to you on your special race tomorrow!

Lauren May 4, 2012 at 7:06 pm

Running in my first 5k tomorrow! So excited!! Good luck with the half :)

Mary May 4, 2012 at 7:27 pm

Kick it tomorrow!!!
Stacy’s Pita Chips— cinnamon and sugar absolutely amazing

Angie @ Pint of Goals May 4, 2012 at 7:35 pm

My vote is for grapes! I also could’ve eaten 4 lbs in 4 days :)
I am running a 20K tomorrow (and 7.5 miles before to get to my scheduled 20 miles). Hope your 1/2 goes well tomorrow and that you have no issues!

Amanda @ Let Me Be Whats Underneath May 4, 2012 at 7:38 pm

My lunch today was a slice of plain pizza dipped in some garlic sauce– I know I’m super healthy!

natalie@ southern fit foodie May 4, 2012 at 8:01 pm

My vote is for strawberries! (mainly so I could make more JAM!)

My lunch today was leftover cheesy garlic spaghetti squash! SO GOOD!

Lora @ Crazy Running Girl May 4, 2012 at 8:08 pm

Grapes, hands down!

Megan @ Run Like a Grl May 4, 2012 at 8:09 pm

Yum that cinnamon bread looks delish!! I could go for some of that right now.. or 4 pounds of grapes. I’m not really a strawberry person.

Good luck in your race this weekend! Hope you run it healthy and have fun.

Losing Lindy May 4, 2012 at 9:00 pm

I totally want to come over and have a sleepover! I will bring the donuts!

Brooke May 4, 2012 at 9:29 pm

Hi janae !!

I would be so upset if there was no grapes too, I was super angry at my beef (bf) this morning because he told me last night that the bananas in his fridge were NOT greenish, but at brekky at 6.30am this morning they were Infact GREENISH !!   Noo!

I decided not to race today (with athletics Victoria cross country) because my coach said the course is really bad . (I’m getting good at injury prevention too!) . Instead we did 3 x 2.2 km laps . The pace was 3.30-4.00 and each lap had an annoying & painful incline at the end. !!

It’s a Saturday here in Australia , which means I am in the future. !!

Lunch was sushi, I only get to have sushi 1 or 2 times a week because the sushi shop that is good is about 30km from my house.

I find sweet ideas for teaching & food on PINTREST all the time. Last night I was up until 1am on it , so addicted. I didn’t know Kara goucher had a blog, I think I might aim to copy her training program hehe.

I would love to join your slumber if you can find A way to invent teleportation in the next couple of hours. Then teleport me to Utah!

Maya May 4, 2012 at 11:57 pm

I´m racing today! So exciting, I´m trying to PR and I am a nervous wreck at the moment!
The race is an afternoon start so I`ll be having a light lunch. I`m thinking lunch could be a sandwich and fruit juice.
Right now I would choose strawberries because they are not yet in season here and the price of those sweet things is just ridiculously high. Haven`t had them for a while but I`ve sure been having my share of grapes lately to compensate :)

Good luck on your race today Janae!

Tara May 5, 2012 at 4:12 am

That cinnamon pull apart bread looks tasty!!

mary @ minutespermile May 5, 2012 at 4:49 am

Good luck at the race! Carb loading (cinnamon bread style) is a GREAT pre-race idea!! :)

Brandi May 5, 2012 at 5:59 am

Have fun at your race Janae – Hope your ankle hangs in there!!! I am running my first marathon Sunday morning!! I am so excited I am going to explode!!!

Kay May 7, 2012 at 9:05 am

Yum, yum, that bread looks delicious!
