Something for your bucket list and a track meet.

I bet you can guess what my favorite thing was at our school’s carnival last night….  (you are welcome for the blurry photo)

I officially had the fastest time of the night, I promise I am not even exaggerating and I had some tough competition.  I have mastered the art of eating donuts and practice nearly every day.  It took me three bites and I am quite proud of myself.

Another favorite activity was throwing pies at my bosses….man does that feel good:)

And of course the food was delicious…my school does food right.  You have got to try Utah scones before you die, they are basically fluffy, fried pieces of dough that you smother in honey butter.  We also had soup and homemade root beer.

It was a really fun night and made me love my job more than ever.

Okay, so time for what I am beyond excited for today:

BYU

Miles Batty (a BYU student) will be shooting for a sub 4 minute mile.  He has already broken the 4 minute mile and is the current collegiate 1 mile indoor record holder with a time of 3:54.54 but this time he is trying to do it in Utah.  He will be the second person EVER to accomplish this because of the high elevation!  I seriously can’t wait to go watch, watching running is just as fun as running.

Here is Batty breaking the NCAA indoor 1 mile record.

Long run or race this weekend?

What are you most excited about doing today?

Have you ever ran on an indoor track?  What do you think your max mileage would be that you could do before going crazy?

-I bet I could distract myself for 10 miles but after that I would go crazy.

What did you have for dessert last night?

OH man what a great fundraiser event. That is so cool about the runner, I would love to be there and watch that go down.

Heads up…did you know there are like 10 or 15, 000 high school students invading Utah for the next couple of days? There is the international DECA competition going on in Salt Lake!

Today as in Saturday? =)
Have plans for dinner with a friend at a new restaurant and then visiting friends to see their new house!

Dessert last night, Friday? I skipped it. I’m trying to be good!

Congrats on the donut eating! Well done.

Dessert was amazing, Woopie Pie from a fancy bakery, photos on my blog today and worth a visit.

12 mile planned tomorrow.

Don’t think I could handle distance on a track.

8 miles today and maybe isn’t the most exciting, but what I am most excited about. :)
Grabbing a coffee with two girlfriends later today.
Dessert last night was a white chocolate macademian nut cookie the size of a pancake.

Ummmm…because of all your doughnut talk I was having an intense craving for one Thursday night. Sooooo…..Friday morning there I was at Dunkin Donuts getting my fix of the warm, soft doughy goodness. Yum!!!!!!!!

Last long run tomorrow. Racing next weekend! Woo!

Seriously, she’s killin’ all of us with this donut talk. haha.

What a stud! Hope is can get it! I can notice a big elevation change in my running when I go from Oregon, practically sea level, to Montana running which is around 7K feet.

My long run is 12 miles today, leaving in 20 minutes!

The carnival looks so fun! I ran on an indoor track at west point military base in high school for our winter track meets. The longest event I ever completed was the mile. I have a feeling you could run way more than 10 miles on one especially after your epic 26 miler on a treadmill!

Hey Janae! Haha looks like a fun time!! :D I have a question for you (And anyone else who wants to answer ) Every time i go on my long run i get huge blisters on the arches of my feet…any ideas on how to avoid this?? I’ve tried moleskin but it doesn’t work.

Reply

Have you tried out different socks? Like different brands or thickness? Make sure there is no cotton in them too. You could also try putting body glide on your feet. My husband does this with good results. Good luck!

Reply

That used to happen to me! I used body glide and got socks made for running from Target. They are still cotton and not very expensive at all (I think a 6 packs was about $8) but they are tighter at the arches and eliminated all my blister problems! Good luck!

I used to get really torn up in my “arch” area (I’m pretty flat footed though). I found out that I over-pronate a lot, so my foot was collapsing inwards, and that area of my foot was rubbing too much…when I got better shoes for the way I run, it stopped happening.

Wow that carnival looks so fun! Donut eating contests are the best!
I’m running my second marathon tomorrow and there’s an 80% chance of rain. :( In other news, I’m hoping to go shopping with my husband today.
Dessert last night was my nephews bday cake.
Have a great day!

Very cool, I hope he can do it!
I have run a half marathon on an indoor track (around a speed skating oval), and they also have a marathon there. It was surprisingly less boring than I thought it would be, but hard on the legs!
I had an ice cream cookie sundae last night. Mmmmm!

Reply

This weekend I was meant to be doing a 10 miler LR but my leg is feeling… Unusual so I’m not quite sure yet!

Today sadly I’m working all day so maybe sleep? Or the coffee?

I’ve run 3K on an indoor track and I was honestly quiteeee bored. Have also watched the BF do the indoor 5k and it looked like he was cruising for a long time before a push!

Last night I had no dessert but I had skittles!

I love when you share cool running/runner’s stuff! It makes being a runner more fun when you get into all the geeky stuff.

My max amount of mileage on a track is 3 miles before I go out of my mind. What a cool event to see!

Nice job on the donut – we’re all proud of you! :)

4 mile race Sunday in Central Park. Sounds like it could be messy with the # of people! 24K

Longish run tomorrow – last one before next weekend’s half marathon!! Woo!

I’m just excited to see Dean today! He’s had a really busy week so I think we are just going to hang out :)

Does celery and PB count as dessert?! That’s the last thing I ate last night so I guess it would be my “dessert”!

Reply

Supposed to race this weekend but not happening because of injury :( Boo! But at least I can cheer on the other runners!

That carnival looks SO much better than the ones my school used to have. I never got to throw pies at my teachers. That would have been fantastic!

My dessert was organic hazelnut ice cream from a local Brooklyn ice cream shop with the kids I babysit for. So good!

I have a “long” run of 5 miles scheduled today. Never ran longer than 4 before so I’m excited an kinda nervous!! I can’t even imagine running a sub 4 minute mile! That’s insane!

Reply

Congrats on your donut eating! Your carnival looks way fun.

I LOVE to watch running. I can watch races where I don’t know anybody and still love it. I watch races on the internet. I’m just a nerd. I wish I could watch that mile, that would be awesome!

I ran indoor track in college. I’ve raced a 5K (25 laps on that particular track…the ones I ran on ranged from 160m-200m) It really didn’t seem that bad, because I was in the race mode, but just to run, I don’t think I’d make it very long with all the turns.

I just discovered that our Wal-mart now carries pints of TCBY yogurt so we had Chocolate Chunk Cookie Dough Frozen Yogurt…it was yummy :)

Reply

I have my first 10K race this weekend, woo!

I am most excited to go to the REAL game tonight! Can’t wait! My cute niece and her little mini soccer team are walking out on the field with the players! They are 5 and 6 yr olds.. So cute!

My dessert last night was ice cream from COSTCO!! Yum!!

I just have a random observation. I moved to New Orleans from New England and was surprised at the amount of fried food served here. But I swear Utah has NOLA beat to death! Is frying very common in Utah? When I read blogs from Utah I feel like a fried foods are featured a lot! I’d starve to death…I don’t like the texture of fried things. Ha.
Go sub-4 dude, that is awesome!

Reply

I’ve actually got both th is weekend….long run today, 5k tomorrow! The 5k is moving to a track if the weather is bad, which I am really NOT hoping for…I feel like I would get bored FAST.

Reply

This looks like the best carnival. We had something similar at the end of senior year in high school, but we never got to throw pies at people!

Reply

What a fun night you had!

I agree–it’s so great to see people who really go for their dreams–and dang that is SOOO fast!!

Reply

I had some Mochi, Japanese sticky rice roll with some sweet sesame mixture inside :) It was Delish!!
I’ve never been good at eating donuts off of strings (or whatever you call it..), looks like you had a great time!

Reply

Thanks Laura! My socks are specifically for running so i’m good there but I’ve never used bodyglide so i’ll have to look into that :)

In South Dakota where I grew up we ate fry bread with butter and honey too. It was called Indian Fry bread.
Here in Arizona it is called Sopaipilla.
I don’t really care what it is called. It is awesome!

Race this weekend! A 10k but seeing as how I’m 3.5 months pregnant and at the mercy of my bladder I may just take it easy.

I didn’t have dessert last night! Unless u count a handful of jellybeans before bed a dessert lol.
I have never run on a track before. I’d probably go crazy at the 1 mile mark as I can’t even handle treadmill running. I love running outdoors too much!!!

Reply

I have 4 miles planned for tomorrow. I’m not sure if I would last long on an indoor track. It just seems too boring.

Reply

I once ran 100 laps around the BYU-I center which equals 18 miles. My story here: http://missdeneener.blogspot.com/2012/03/day-i-ran-100-laps-in-byu-i-center.html
I don’t know which is crazier: Rexburg’s weather or me. (:

Reply

Wow- I hope Batty gets it. Track has to be my absolute favourite sport to watch. It’s not only about hard work and talent, but tactics too.

Reply

I had a 27 miler today – last long run before my first ultra :)

I watched the Penn Relays afterwards and oh man do those people fly!! so impressive!!!

Reply

Thanks for answering my ? amanda! :) i’ll have to look into those socks. mine are made for running but not tight around the arches….maybe that wil make a difference :D

Reply

I had a delicious banana split for dessert yesterday…it was sooooo yummy and i put homemade chocolate syrup on it! :D :D

Reply

I had chocolate and jelly beans, and then fell asleep on the couch at 10:30p because I am old now. Can’t handle 10 hour work days anymore. ;)
