Sharing some wisdom and the best kid’s meal.

I finally convinced the sister to hang out with me.  Billy had more final tests (honey, I am still offended you didn’t take me up on the free tutoring session I offered you before your Electromagnetics final) and so I got to hang out with my other best friend.

DSC 0073

I told you about the Creamery deal before but just to refresh your memory of the awesomeness….. we had fries, a drink (my precious lemonade), a cheeseburger AND ice cream for $3.49.  Added bonus was the free entertainment across the table from us.

DSC 0076

Curly makes at least 5,429 different facial expressions a day, it is getting out of control.  I have no idea where she would have learned these from.

I had graham canyon and cookie dough ice cream.  Tip for happiness:  crumble your cone into your ice cream and stir it all together.

My sister and I had a highly intelligent conversation about the latest episode of Make it or Break it.

DSC 0077

It was a rainy day and so we decided to go to the track after dinner to get some energy out.  My sister did a really smart thing and raced her son in a full on sprint just minutes after the above meal.  Just in case you were wondering, that is not a good idea.

Billy finally finished being productive and came and met us.

That is a look of determination, I see a future track star in her.

I stood and admired the wall of champions for 12 minutes.

Photo 1

The best part of the whole evening happened when we found a tire, put Billy inside of it and rolled it REALLY fast.   I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time.

Photo 3

Just because I like to share my wisdom with others because I am generous like that…..

Never drive with an open salad dressing container in your car if you are planning to stop at any time.  Don’t ask me why I didn’t have a lid or why I thought it wouldn’t spill, I don’t want to get into it.

Hilarious! I love the facial expressions and Billy in the tire. Your nephew must have high tolerance being squished in between his sisters like that ;-)

Oh boy, you do not want to see the inside of my car, it’s a mess. I have enough food and PowerAde Zero to live a couple of days (heaven forbid if I go w/o food for a 40 minute commute) ;-)

That is such a cute photo of the 3 kids! Definitely one that they’ll love in the future when they’re older, too.

I have so many random things in my car: 15 of my boyfriends old engineering textbooks, a lot of old D-tags on my passenger side floor (I should throw those out some day..), and about 3 umbrellas. If it ever rains, you know who to come to!

Haven’t had breakfast yet but I’m planning on greek yogurt and granola with flaxseed because I’m on a flaxseed kick lately :)

I always have coffee all over my car :(

I am so jealous you get to spend so much time with your sister and her kids. I miss my sisters everyday. If they would just move here already :)

I ran track in jr. high and that was it. I just wanted to hang out with my friends all day and play. I really should have stuck with it. Thats what my kids will be for. To do everything I wished I would have done. Haha j/k (kinda;))

Reply

Where in the world did you find that ginormous tire? That is ridiculous, but awesome.

I ran track in high school, but always hated the distance running during practice. Oh how my life has changed.

This may have been my favorite post of yours yet.

That’s actually genius about the cone topper! I love the flavor of cones with ice cream but always order my scoop in a cup…otherwise things get messy! Definitely trying this next time!

That’s funny cuz salad dressing is the last thing we spilled in our car too. Except we have carpet mats instead of rubber. My husband bought a Caesar salad and then set the dressing on the floor of the front seat. We switched drivers (we were driving from Vermont to Maryland – we don’t normally switch drivers on a five minute drive) and I must have knocked over the dressing and I kept complaining that our car smelled like Caesar dressing. Then I finally realized it was all over the flood. My husband insisted it was my fault because I knocked it over. Of course I insisted it was his fault since he left it opened on the floor. Either way, we learned our lesson! It was a long Caesar-y drive home!

Breakfast = banana and greek yogurt with pb cheerios!

Definitely ran track in high school and looved it although I was not competitive whatsoever so I’m not sure if my coach’s loved me so much..

Reply

Oh man! What haven’t I spilled in my car??? That’s what the mats are made for, right?!?!?

Breakfast = egg whites and low-fat mozzerella cheese! :) YUM!!

Best place to get a kids meal– CHILI’S. They’re BIG portions, MUCH cheaper, and still YUMMY. Oh, and I’m sure they’re SUPER healthy too. ;)

Now that chic fil a has grilled nuggets, their kids meals are the best.

Are you not coaching track this semester?

I’m eating cereal right now as I crawl into bed. Thank you night shift. Well it all depends on how you look at it, that cereal could also be called my midnight snack and then Bfast will be around 2 when I wake up….

Reply

If we go for fast food I always get the kids meal! I like it whenever it comes with an “extra”, at DQ you get a coupon for a ice cream sandwich or a chocolate coated ice cream bar. My favorite kids meal used to be Arby’s because the had curly fries and peach juice!
I hated running in High School – weird I know!
My husband spilt hot chocolate all over the car on Valentine’s Day – good thing it was a rental ;) haha
I am eating peanut butter toast with a sliced banana and coffee with almond milk right now :) At 7:04am.

Reply

I always put my purse with my computer on my seat – and always regret it.

I need some ice cream NOW!

I am waiting for my breakfast to be delivered to my room this morning. I will be eating around 730 PST :)

Janae, your blog makes me laugh/smile at least once a day. I absolutely love reading about your life!!!

Your post has me cracking up at my desk. :)

One morning I was trying to be a great wife and went to Starbucks to bring home coffees before work (requiring waking up 30 minutes earlier). I had them in a carrier, but as I went to set the carrier in the car one started to tip, so I grabbed that one but spilled the other, and then spilled the second. All over me AND my car. The coffee smell never really went away, even after multiple scrub downs – and an outfit change.

Late for work that day.

Reply

Your family cracks me up, especially the little ones’ facial expressions! I’ve gotten the kids meal at chick-fil-a.. perfect little size.
I think I always spill coffee in my car when I buy it out. Most random thing? Maybe rollerblades?
I had breakfast at 6 and had protein pancakes and just had a greek yogurt snack or post workout :)

Reply

I refer to my xc and track highschool years as the “glory days” (That being said I was super excited when I broke my high school 5k PR ten years later last month)

The last thing I spilled in my car was a mixture of pineapple and rum… Don’t worry it was jsut being transported in a bowl, not being consumed :)

Reply

I love your niece’s eyes in that picture! Reminds me so much of my niece!

Reply

Our school was to small to have a track and I couldn’t run cross country because I played tennis. I am always spilling in my car. Seriously, it’s bad. I should stop eating and drinking in the car.

Reply

I ran 4 years of xc and 1 year of track in high school and 1 year of xc and track in college before I quit to get married. I don’t regret the school, but I wish I could have continued to run competitively.

I get kids meals a lot! In fact, we often order 3 kids meals, 1 for me, 1 for my husband, and 1 for my 3 and 1 year old to share. Culver’s has a ton of food in their kids meals. But for like $5 they better!

So far I’ve eaten greek yogurt, but I’m still hungry so I’ll probably eat a bagel now.

I love your pictures–they’re so cute! I love that you spend so much time with them. My niece and nephews live nearby, but we hardly see them. And Make It or Break It definitely deserves discussion :)

Reply

hahaha oh my gosh, billy in that tire is priceless. it looks FUN!

i dont really get the kids meal, but when they have hello kitty toys at mcdonalds I will def go for the happy meal. The people at the drive thru like to stare at me curiously since I dont have any kids in the car and I just stare back with a face that says…dont you look at me like that, while I slowly pull out my hello kitty wallet to pay for my meal. pshhhtt.

breakfast this morning is a peach chobani with granola mixed in. i dont eat bfast till late (11 am) since i normally have a snack after the gym and I dont get too hungry until then. yep, i’m a weirdo.

Cute pictures. The last thing I spilled in my car was coins. I have money all over the place under my seat. The majority of the coins are pennies, which hasn’t motivated me to pick them up. At 6 am, I had a bowl of Kashi cereal. I should have had eggs. The cereal didn’t really do it for me.

Reply

I haven’t really had breakfast yet. I am thinking about an apple.
The most random thing in my car right now: coffee mugs. An air compressor to fill up my bike tires.
I get the happy meals at McDonalds. But it depends on the toy.

I loved reading this post and you totally put a smile on my face!
I love your nieces expressions.. too funny! Reading your posts about how much you hang out with your sister, makes me wish, I lived closer to mine.

I ran cross country in elementary school and high school and loved it!!

Reply

Your nieces make the best faces :)

I don’t know where to find the best kids meal deals (though I order them more than I order grown-up meals so I probably should know this!!) but WENDY’S has the best Chili for under $2.00!

Reply

I’m thinking I’m going to take a container of chocolate chia pudding and a mini smoothie to work with me today for breakfast! I rarely do that – but I don’t have much going on this morning … why not make the time pass by eating? That’s the best way to spend time :)

Reply

Haha I always want to order off the kid’s menu but sometimes I get people who won’t let me! I mean come on, I could look under 12…

Reply

don’t you love when you have a really good laugh?? there’s nothing better! :)

Reply

Ahh! I wish I had been there to discuss Make it or Break it with you guys!! I need people to talk about it with, no one here watches it and I’m obsessed!!

Reply

I always get the kids meal and save the toy for my mom! (She’s a pediatrician – these make awesome post-visit gifts.) Although lately, they’ve been stuffed animals, so Penny has a collection of tiny fast food friends!

Also, I got rear-ended pretty hard recently and my car and myself were fine, but my coffee EXPLODED. It was hilarious as soon as it stopped being terrifying.

Reply

This still pains me to talk about but the last thing I spilled in my car was my ENTIRE thing of BareMinerals makeup. Lesson finally learned to not put makeup on while I am driving down my long and very bumpy driveway.

Reply

The open salad dressing…laughed pretty hard at that one. Yep. I would do that. And no, I would not explain why.

Reply

I ran cross country in high school. I am a lot faster now though.
I last spilled breast milk in my car. working mom problems.
for breakfast I had microwave popcorn and a hard boiled egg. busy day.

I love the pb and j kids meal at Panera. I’m really lame.

My breakfast needs help! I can’t wait to read these comments to get some ideas. Just coffee does not scream healthy lifestyle to me, but everything i try is “not right” either. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I wish we had an indoor track near us, maybe we do and I’m just too lazy to figure out where it is. I think this is only an East Coast thing, but Chick fila has great kids meals, at least I think so. I heart anything chick fil a. If you’ve never been to one, next time you are out on the EC check one out.
I ran track in high school, sprinting, no long distances, go figure.
Driving with salad dressing open- you are a hardcore salad junkie. I left the salad top unscrewed once- oops, husband went to shake it and well…you can figure out the rest.

As for Biggest Loser, they are sooo whiney- I loved reading all the message boards and Facebook comments about the last episode. No one felt bad for them. We won’t even see them at the end either because they voluntarily left.

I had my overnight oats again this morning! :)
I think that I spilled some coffee in my car last…. It was messy!

Have a great day!!

Reply

That sounds like the best deal around! I would definitely eat that. And I’m so glad Lauren and Payson are finally becoming true friends. :-) but what is wrong with Lauren???!!

Reply

I think Panera has an awesome kid’s meal and the best restaurant PB&J, hat way there’s enough room for one of their yummy desserts! The last thing I spilled was apple chips in my car…I was more sad about losing apple chips to eat than them spilling :( for breakfast every morning I have a scrambled egg+whites with a piece of Genesis 1:29 bread, it is seriously my favorite meal of the day and my favorite thing to eat…hence why I have it every day!

Reply

Seeing ‘straights’ track face and Billy in that tired just made my day!!!!! I love it!

ps: I am guilty of car food messes as well

Reply

My mom used to bring my sisters and I to the track and we’d race and it was always so much fun!!!
I ran cross country in high school and honestly some of the best memories of my 21 years on planet earth come from those years. My high school’s team was very good–we consistently ranked #2 or 3 in the (granted, very small) state of Delaware and had over 50 runners on the girl’s team alone! I would LOVE to coach an xc team one day or volunteer with girls on the run!

Reply

I had banana oat bran! Mmm

I haven’t spilled anything in my car recently but I did drop my credit card between the seat and center console and almost broke a finger trying to get it out! lol

Reply

Haha! I’m glad you don’t have cloth car mats!!

Reply

It’s awesome they let you order the kids meal – most restaurants I’ve been to say you have to be 12 & under!

Reply

I ran track my last 2 years and XC my last year.

Last thing I spilled… I honestly don’t remember, probably water. A while ago some salsa leaked onto the front seat and it’s still stained… ug…
Most random thing I have in my car is probably a champagne cork and a criminology book that has been in the trunk of my car for 4-5 years…

Breakfast was a banana (pre-run), and cantaloupe and oatmeal (post-run)

Best kids meal is at California Pizza Kitchen – a pizza and unlimited refills of the best chocolate milk ever for 5 bucks and you get to keep the cup! Plus, you can add a brownie and ice cream for $1 and it’s HUGE ;) We always order kid’s meals for our daughter even though she’s only 1 1/2 and doesnt’t eat much of it because the kid’s meals have the food you REALLY want to eat! ;)
Ran xc and track in hs (RBV in S.D.) and did the 4×400, 800, mile, 2mile. Injured all four years of college (Cal Poly, SLO) but still ran the 1500 with my one good knee. So fun despite the stress. A handful of my old teammates are running professionally right now and it’s so crazy to see them on tv or Olympic Trials.
SOOOO many kids toys in the car I could open my own ToysRUs out of the trunk. Does barf count as the last thing spilled in the car? It was so disgusting…we had the Jeep professionally cleaned the next day. That poor guy was probably gagging as he shampooed our car.
Eating Trader Joe’s toaster waffles and an iced mocha. Then, I’ll go attack a hollow chocolate Easter bunny I filled with peanut butter and froze. Yum.

Reply

Since I lost my thermos mug, I’ve been using a regular glass that fits in my car’s cup holder.
Not the best idea when you are in a hurry and the glass is full of hot coffee! Other than that, since I’m in a hurry quite often and eat in the car a lot, naturally, spilling in the car is part of my everyday life lol

Reply

I like getting the kids meal at Chipotle or Moe’s. I also LOVE getting the kids meal at Chick-Fil-A, because you can return the toy and get free ice cream instead! ;)

Reply

Fun! You and your family always look like you have such a blast :) I have spilled salad dressing in the car so many times I lost count, finally my mom got me some spray dressings for car trips…. Then I sprayed it on myself, oops!

Reply

I love the look of intensity on your niece’s face! So cute!

I spilled apple cider vinegar in my car last week. Good thing it was a warm day – all the windows were down. It still stinks! :)

Reply

Hilarious that you guys wheeled him in a tire!! Haha.

I haven’t spilled anything lately….knock on wood!

Reply

Best kids meal is the chicken and cheese quesadilla with chips from Qdoba.

I ate breakfast at 8:30 this morning and it was a random mixture of flavors, but trust me, they worked! Onion bagel, raspberry jelly, egg, cheese sandwich.

Reply

The best kids meal is at Fire House Burger in North Springville by Mcdonalds! They even give you a free fire hat too!

Reply

That little adventure of rolling Billy around in a huge tire sounds like a good time :D You guys are awesome…I need to just follow you around so I can laugh all day!!

Reply

I always get the kids meal!!! Yay!!

Reply

The worst spill I’ve had actually happened in a rental car…Indian lentils! The car smelled terrible and we had to switch it out. They were everywhere! My FIL has a REALLY nice car and our dog threw up in it…she has never done it before, but decided to do it in a crazy fancy ride….

breakfast this morning was oatbran with chia seeds and coconut oil and PB

Wow! That niece of yours on the race track is a spitting image of you!

I ran track in high school and I was terrible!!! For the record, I still am. And, I’m in the middle of moving (and seem to think that any container is appropriate for any substance that needs to be moved) so I can’t wait to see what spills in there by the time this weekend is over!

Who participated in track or cross-country in high school or college? No, track is the same season as softball!

Do you ever get the kids meal? Where is the best deal for kids meals for adults? Please share with me, I really need to know these things. We are having Dairy Queen kids meals with dessert tonight! Will be so good!!

Billy in the tire – classic!

My favorite kids meal is at a small local movie theater – it includes popcorn, drink, and a normal sized bag of candy (PEANUT BUTTER M&MS!!!) for $2.50. It’s amazing.

Reply

Your sister’s kids crack me up! They make the best faces in pictures! Always brings a smile to my face! Love it!

Reply

I’m glad that was just salad dressing. When I first saw the picture I thought that was what happens when you race your son right after dinner!

Reply

I made a smoothie with my Ninja for breakfast- Strawberries, Pineapple, Mixed Berries, Almond Milk, Ice and Agave Nectar.

I was a sprinter in track 9-11, then played softball when they started it here in UT my senior yr (yeah, I’m that old… 1990, baby). I started running distance for fun while I was in college. I took 3rd in a 5K at the time, not even realizing that I was actually pretty fast. I don’t even know what my time was- think I could call the intramural dept & see if they still have race results from 15 years ago? Yeah, I think I’ll do that tomorrow. I was in a “dynamic fitness” class at the time, and my professor had told the class that if anyone placed in the 5K they would get an automatic A in the class. Bonus :).

I had a “Raw Vegan Creamy Pistachio Ice cream Kale Smoothie” this morning. It was pretty good… surprise- there were no pistachios in it, but there were some raw cashews. My kids really liked it. Yum.
