Sorry for all of you that are having ussues with the blog. We weren’t prepared for the traffic we’re getting. Billy is going to fix the problem tonight (so you may see the blog offline for a little while) and we should be back to normal by tomorrow morning!
You guys are the absolute best. I seriously have been so ridiculously excited to tell you our news because hello…we are all bf’s.
First things first, I am 15.43 weeks along (you better believe I add on the .xx, every day is one day closer:) I am due on August 24th.

(Ultrasound at 10 weeks along to determine how far I was. Hearing the heart beat is the coolest sound in the world and I become dehydrated from my tear ducts exploding whenever I get to hear it)
Here’s the story about the last few months. (I probably won’t go into too much detail because my brothers read the blog religiously:)
After the 1/2 marathon in Vegas back in December I was really nauseated (talked about it HERE). I thought I felt so sick because of the whole bad water at the race ordeal and just dealt with it. Then there were the daily migraines and the fact that over Christmas break I couldn’t get out of bed before 11 a.m. or stop crying over the silliest things. I didn’t think I pregnant for a while and this was a HUGE surprise for both of us. The nausea didn’t leave and certain areas of my body hurt more than I ever thought possible ha:) After a while I had a good idea that something was going on and I stopped at Shopko on my way to the gym. I took the test (S) at the bathroom there (classy, I know) and started crying instantly, I had never been so happy. I rushed home and woke Billy up by jumping on the bed and talking 90 miles an hour, that feeling beat all of my runners highs that I have ever had combined.
I pretty much cry every time I see Billy playing with my nieces and nephews now, I know he will be the best dad ever.

Curly is extremely excited for the baby and they all sneak me their candy because they know I am now eating for two, some may say that is a myth but I am taking it to heart.
One of the first things I thought about when I found out I was pregnant was the running shoe picture. (From my MIL’s Instagram)

I knew it was time to say something on the blog when a friend at the gym came up to me on Saturday and asked if I was pregnant (I should have said no and seen her reaction). The sis and I spent Saturday looking for the perfect pair of shoes that didn’t have pink or blue on them because we won’t know the sex of the baby until April. I secretly think it is a girl though.
How has being pregnant affected my running?
-The biggest thing is that I have slowed my pace per mile down a lot….anyone notice that I stopped posting my pace on the blog or daily mile?
I think I will stick to the 1/2 marathon distance as far as running races is concerned and keep running as long as I can throughout my pregnancy. During the first trimester when I was nauseated all day/every day (don’t worry I will not complain to you about it because Billy heard enough of it for a lifetime), running (sleeping and eating) were the only things that made me feel better. I thought it was in my head but my doctor said that exercise really does help with the nausea. I grew to love running even more!
I now mainly run on the treadmill unless I have someone to go with (Billy, BIL and Sissy). The treadmill allows me to stop and walk if I need and use the bathroom 28 times each run. I also now have to wear 8 sports bras at a time which makes for extra chafing.
Remember the 1/2 marathon we did last weekend? My sister could have easily ran a 1:37 (she has been training hard core) but stayed with me to make sure I could talk with her the whole time and that I didn’t push myself. My doctors only requirement for me is that I am able to talk while I workout and to stop if I start cramping or feeling weird, he says my mileage is great and that spin is good for me but to focus on maintaining fitness right now, NOT building it.
Whenever I go running with Billy he puts his hand on my back at least every .25 miles and asks how I am feeling. He is taking good care of me and goes to Costco 2 times a week to restock my cottage cheese, string cheese, potato and orange juice obsession. He is also really great about dealing with the fact that I don’t like being hot and that I make us use the AC as it is snowing outside and going to bed with me at 8:15.
Running is actually feeling even better in the second trimester just because I am not nearly as tired as I used to be!
What are we going to name the baby?
-Janilly if it is a girl and Bilnae if it is a boy;)
We will be adding a new tab on the blog where I will talk about all things pregnancy…ESPECIALLY exercising and nutrition while pregnant because I have been reading some incredible books about these subjects. Of course I will talk about it a little bit on the main page but it will pretty much stay the same…. running/food/tangents/weirdness/pictures of myself taken in my classroom. Thanks again everyone for your sweet words, you mean the world to me!

Any other questions that you have that I didn’t talk about? All you moms out there…..start dishing out the ADVICE!!! Did you experience ‘morning’ sickness? What other symptoms did you experience in that first trimester? How was your workout today?

Congrats janae! you are gonna be an amazing momma and have a beautiful baby! i’m so excited for you!! You and Billy are gonna be great parents
so i’ve been following your blog for a few months and although we’re not legitimately best friends {although i secretly hope every day to run into you at BYU}, i had a hunch something was up. it’s like a gift in my family. weird, i know. but ahhh congratulations!!
love love LOVED the picture y’all posted. i’m glad that morning sickness has slowed down and you better obey the doctors orders!! don’t push yourself… you’ll push yourself more than you ever though possible in 5 short months.
my mom never had morning sickness with all 5 us {lucky woman, i’m told} and i pray i don’t…
my workout today was MARVELOUS. for the first time i wanted to KEEP running but i couldn’t because of time {dang college schedule}.
xoxo
This is SO AWESOME!!!
I am so excited for you guys! Y’all will be awesome parents.
I am so excited for you!!! Can’t wait till you have the pregnancy page up. I am 34 weeks along right now and am due in April. I was able to run until 30 weeks but it definitely wasn’t fast
.
I am so totally excited for you. Get some running shorts with really good support in the belly to hold it still. Also running isn’t the only thing that gets better the 2nd trimester
. Third, I knew something was looking much bigger in the blog pictures and it wasn’t your hips!! Love you. E
I was wondering why you had said you wanted to run the 2012 Chicago Marathon… but then you didn’t appear to sign up for it or mention anything much about it. This explains a lot.
CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!!!! So excited for you!!!!! Are you going to continue teaching spin throughout the duration of the pregnancy, too?
I am super excited for you both!!!! Being a mom is the best job in the world! And you will be such an amazing mommy. Xoxo
Remember I’m a labor and delivery nurse if you ever have any questions!
My run was a recovery 9 miles and felt great!
i was waiting alll day for this post! This is so exciting!! Congrats! I am excited to see you make it all work because having a kid is the scariest thing to me I need to see experiences from someone similar to me!
I ran 3 miles and did 30 mins of upper body lifts
Ahhh Janae! I am so so so excited for you!
Unbelievably exciting!!! Almost makes me want another….but then I realize I have 3 little crazies I’m in love with and that’s perfect for me! I had pretty bad morning sickness and food aversions with all 3- no chocolate of all things, made me so sick- it was horrible!!! So glad that went away!
Just keep up what you are doing, your body will give you clues, like it is, to slow down and take it easy when you need to. I was very active through all of mine, and labor and delivery were pretty quick and smooth, probably because I was in great shape. Fun fun fun!! Looking forward to watching you “grow”;-)
I felt great my whole pregnancy but I did have sciatica during month 6 and couldn’t run
I used the stationary bike instead. but then I was right back at it running 5.5 miles the day I went into labor.
OKAY FIRST – pleaaaase request that this little lady (I have a really strong girl feeling too!) stay put until August 26, so we can be birthday buddies
SECOND – If you ever need any pregnancy workout advice, my lovely boyfriend is a personal trainer (like… an off-the-charts, really well-respected one.. if i do say so myself :p) and he’s trained quite a few pregnant ladies and is the bomb.com when it comes to that sorta thing. SUPER knowledgeable.
THIRD…. you are gonna be the world’s coolest parents EVER. Can I come be your foreign nanny?!?
oh… and FOURTH…. i am gonna need some bump pictures ASAP! like… daily. so i can make a flip book and watch it grow before my eyes!
From the second that you posted about this I wanted to share some info with you because you are such a great person and answer any newbie runner questions I have.
Nicole DeBloom (professional triathlete–you have most likely heard of her) and her hubby Tim recently had their first baby. She chronicled all her fitness/exercise during her pregnancy on her blog: http://www.skirtsports.com/blog/
So I would say you might get some helpful tips and info from her past posts! She talked about running and biking and swimming and all things preggo related for the past 9 months and it was great reading through all her experiences.
CONGRATS again!!
I am sooo so excited for you and Billy. Congrats!! I can’t wait to stalk the pregnancy page
Ahh congrats again! Seriously I am so so so excited for you and Billy. LOVE the names you have picked out haha
. The Billnae one sort of reminds be of Bill Nye the science guy…even though it doesn’t sound like that hehe. I can’t wait to read all about your experience!
OMG!!! Congratulations Janae! So happy for you both! And thats a super cute instagram update from your MIL, best for you all!
x
Congrats Janae and Billy! The Mrs and I are so happy for you. Your story sounds almost exactly like what happened to us. Anyhow, she kept up running through almost her entire pregnancy and said it made childbirth much easier. So keep it up! Congrats again.
ooooooooooooohhhhhhh! sooooo stinking exciting!!! Wooot wooot! Congratulations beautiful Janae! Welcome to the most exciting and lovely and wonderful and Amazing time of your entire life! I was so sick for the first couple of weeks but then it was all sunshine and rainbows. I ran, I ate, I laughed, I rubbed my belly, I read to my unborn baby, I ate good things….Oh, so fun!!
Congrats! Such exciting news! I’m pregnant with baby #2 and am due just a couple of weeks before you on April 5 – so you better believe that I am excited to hear all about your journey
I’m still running at a much slower pace and have a half-marathon in my sights at the beginning of May – I have no time expectations at all and am just excited to be able to run at all!
Congrats again!! So exciting!
oh my goodness Janae congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cutest announcement pic EVER!!!!!! =) Can’t wait to hear all about hungry runner baby!
~jenn
CONGRATS again Janae! This is so funny because literally 5 teachers I work with have just announced that they are pregnant, and now I’m reading about you! SOO excited! I work with a class of infants at my school so i love lovelvoelovelove babies! SOO happy for you guys!
Awww. Congratulations! You are going to be the cutest pregnant woman ever! Now you have an extra excuse to eat those desserts. I have 2 kids and had really bad morning sickness with both of them (up until 18 weeks or so). Other than that though, I had really easy pregnancies and worked right up until I gave birth. I didn’t run while pregnant, but wish that I had. It would have made it way easier to get back into shape after they were born.
Okay you totally crack me up – I’m so glad I got to talk with you today via our texts!
I love the names – although you should definitely add in “chelsey” for a middle name – either sex.
Oh Janae a million congratulations to you both. You are going to be amazing parents:).Best news of my day:)
I have two kids and both pregnancies were really different, but I was pretty active through both.I work on my feet(some heavy lifting),and that went fine(I swear the guys I work with were way more worried about it than I)-with my second I ran up until the day I delivered, although I scaled it way back.It felt great,I slowed down, kept hydrated and just listened to my body.
Oh,and I was super nauseated and tired for the first,oh,16 weeks(and I work in a kitchen,oh the smells)-for me-lemonade made me feel 1000x better, and lots of snacks-saltines,chips,etc.But then it’s like you turn this corner and feel awesome!!!
anyway-huge hugs.Amazing!!!!xxoo
Ahhhhh! Friend!! Congrats!!! So very excited for you. Can’t wait for our kiddos to play together while we run races
More of a reason for you to come to Cali…just sayin
((((((hugs)))))))))))
Aww yay!
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I will be praying for y’all to have a strong, healthy baby in August
i really CANNOT get over how unbelievably excited I am for you and Billy. seriously. i am going to have to make a special trip to where ever you all end up so that I can meet this sweet babe
this is the best thing ever Janae! i am so happy for you!
AHHHHHH! That’s literally what I did when I read this! So excited for you! This is why blogging is fantastic/bizarre; you become positively elated for someone that you don’t even technically know. But I’m sure we’d be insta-friends given the chance.
Yeah. That’s a word.
Don’t be surprised if I ask for your address in the near future
Congrats again!!!!!! This is one lucky little bean to have you as parents!!
As far as pregnancy, I couldn’t get off the couch for almost the entire 9 months so you’re already doing better than me! And I was running about 10 miles a day before that! Honestly, I think my body knew it’s limits and I listened. The day my babies turned 6 weeks old, though, I strapped them in the jogging stroller and off we went. I was able to almost instantly pick back up where I left off 9 months before. The body is an amazing thing!
You are an inspiration and I can’t wait experience a little bit of your journey (through the blog) with you!! This is so exciting!
Your son/daughter is going to be awesome, just like everybody else born in late August. Including me.
I am way excited about this! I even gushed about it to my husband and yelled “Janae, my favorite blogger is pregnant!” He looked a little confused and then I showed him the picture and he goes, “oh the hungry runner one.” I can’t wait to hear all about it throughout yalls journey! Hoping for a girl too!
Workout was good, easy 3 miles and Level 2 of 30 Day Shred.
Awesome, awesome, awesome news! Huge congrats to you! Wishing you a very wonderful adventure in pregnancy and beyond. Warm fuzzies!
Everyone’s just so excited for you, we’re crashing your site!
Seriously, congratulations again. I couldn’t be happier for you … even if I knew you in real life haha!
Ha. Nice. I didn’t wonder about being pregnant but I didn’t wonder about all that cottage cheese (I always wonder why anyone would eat cottage cheese), I worried when you were sick, I laughed at the treadmill photo (I BET that picture is a little revealing right now…) and I did notice your absence on DM after about 12 minutes. Shoulda put it together. NO one in my world runs or reads blogs so I’m all alone here. Congratulations.
And good for Billy for taking such good care. My adorable husband, upon hearing we were expecting, asked me to help him move the stereo
(he got better after that…)
I am beyond excited for you and your family and can’t wait to experience this incredible journey with you via blog-land (lol)! Also your announcement was ADORABLE! It brought warm fuzzy feelings to my Monday morning. xoxoxo
Awww y’all are going to be the best parents! And you are going to be so cute with a baby bump! We only have fur children of our own (plus 14 nieces and nephews, some baby cousins, and alllll of my students lol), and I’m not sure we will have kids anytime soon (maybe when I’m 30, or 35).
My workout this morning was training my client (we did a bodyrock type workout with some quick intense intervals, and then some yoga), I taught cardio dance and abs, and now I’m heading to teach BLACKLIGHT zumba (my favorite!).
Enjoy your night! I’m definitely referring to the baby as Janilly
SOOOOOO happy for you and Billy! You are going to make the cutest baby, and she/he will be incredibly lucky to have you as a mom.
I cried while I was reading this!!! Im so so so happy for both of you!!
I’ll be praying that the rest of your pregnancy goes well and that Billy doesn’t catch cold from the AC in winter!
*hugs!*
Congratulations!! That is so exciting!! A little runner!
I look forward to reading all about it.
p.s. My mum ran a half marathon when she was pregnant with me- and I am a lifetime runner so I think it starts early
Congratulations!! I can’t believe how excited I am – this is awesome news! I’m seriously SO excited to read the new pregnancy& running tab! I don’t have kids yet, but I want them within 2 years probably, and that’s a huuuuge concern for me- still being able to run and having as fit, healthy and active pregnancy as possible! I’m so excited that you’re sharing this with everyone via the blog, I feel like I get to experience it a bit myself through here and it makes me SO much less scared and anxious about going through it myself
Again- huuuuge congratulations to you & Billy!!
I LOVE this post, and your announcement. To be honest, I’ve been so over reading about pregnancy in the blog world, but yours totally changed my mind. How excited you were is so cute! I wish you both the best. Congratulations!
SO stinkin happy for you both. Wonderful news. Yay
Congratulations! Just wondering, were you trying to get pregnant or just a nice lovely surprise??
Congrats girl!!! This is the best news and I’m so happy for you, Billy, and your entire family
Oh my gosh you guys!!! This is beyond fantastic. I showed Alex your post and he started smiling from ear to ear. We’re sooooo happy for you. Happy doesn’t even begin to describe it actually. Life is going to get so much sweeter and richer from now on. At least, that’s how it’s been for us since our little sweetheart joined the family.
Congrats again! SO excited for you!! We’re due 4 days apart
I totally had morning sickness but didn’t throw up, was just nauseas 24/7. I had really crazy food aversions to most veggies, bagged mozzarella cheese, and most of all…chicken…bleh!
I have cravings for pizza, green apples, pickles (typical), and popsicles.
Again, congratulations again, amazing news!!!
I couldn’t open your post where you announced it, so I will say CONGRATULATIONS here!!!!
So exciting!!! I’m so happy for you! Enjoy this time!
yAY, YAY, YAY, YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! so gladwe got to chat today! I MISS YOU! I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER FOR YOU! My pregnancy was super hard and I was horribly sick until like 25 weeks. I couldn’t run at all because of a complication so that sucked and I got larger than I wanted to! But I’m finally feeling close to my normal self again and exercising has made all the difference! My workout today was insanity, I’m on week two and loving it! love you girls!
CONGRATS!!!!!! Blog was down earlier when I tried to comment. So happy for you guys!!!
so incredibly happy for you!! Congratulations
Congrats again Janae!!! Such exciting news!!! I’ll be praying that the rest of the pregnancy goes well!!!
How exciting!!!! Congrats a baby is such a blessing!!!! My hubby and I are going to try later this year so I look forward to reading more about your diet and exercise:)!!! Congrats again!
Congratulations! Soo excited for you!
OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS!!!!!!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU ARE HAVING A BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I CAN’T BELIEVE I MISSED THE FIRST POST SAYING SO. YOU AND BILLY ARE GOING TO BE THE BEST PARENTS AND HAVE WHITE KENYAN BABIES!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
P.S. I told Rylee and she cried (again). We’re not even a little creepy.
Congratulations again! I know I’ve told you many times before, but I’m currently pregnant with #3 (due the beginning of May). I experienced awful morning sickness for all three kiddies, but like you, I kept the exercise up anyway. It was definitely harder to get motivated, but I always felt better after exercising, plus I could then more easily keep up the movement during the second and third trimester.
Yay you are due one day after me!!!! So cool we are so close! I totally agree on the running in the second trimester thing-I have felt SO much better exercising since I hit the second. It is so nice. I am so dang excited for you and I am voting girls for both of us haha.
P.P.S. Rylee thinks Rylee is a good boy or girl name, just in case you needed ideas.
I don’t know if my other comments posted but CONGRATS! So happy for you and absolutely cannot wait to ‘follow’ you on this journey. Ya’ll are going to be amazing parents and raise an adorable, super fast runner
Such a cute picture and I think it’s precious that the hubby checks on you like that. I’m so happy for you both!
Loved seeing the little one- it takes me back to all the emotions I had seeing all three of mine for the first time. Your labor & recovery will be soooo much better because you are working out. I worked full time and didn’t work out at all with my first and even though I had my 3 rd 5 years later, I recovered faster after her birth & I really think it was because I exercised during that pregnancy.
As for advice, gosh theirs a ton out there but you seem to be doing great! I had awful morning sickness with my first so much so that co workers kmew right away because I lost my breakfast Every day at work!
Can’t wait to follow along with you guys on this journey!
Congrats!! So happy for you guys!
I can’t tell you how excited i am for you! you both are going to make INCREDIBLE parents and i can’t wait to follow this adventure! congrats congrats CONGRATS!!!!
YAAAAAAAYYYY!
SO AWESOME. Congrats janae and billy! So excited for you and little Janilly or Billnae!!
Awesome Due Date! My birthday is August 22nd, August babies are pretty Awesome!
. I am so excited to hear this and look forward to your tips as we are trying to get pregnant at the end of this year and I want to maintain fitness and running!
Oh my goshhhhhhhhhhhhh congrats Janae!! That is going to be one beautiful baby!! Workout today was Insanity — insane indeed
So happy for you
Congrats!
Congratulations!!!! This is wonderful news. I’m so happy for you two.
ahhh that is the day before my birthday!!!!!! great date!! Ahhh this is so awesome!
A-ha!!! I was wondering what the heck was going on… You disappeared off of Daily Mile, you ran a half that was a lot slower than I know you can do… Wasn’t making sense to me. Hmmmm… Now I get it!! Congrats again and hey, with #3, my period was MIA so I actually took a pregnancy test in Wal-mart out of desperation for answers!! The urge to pee on a stick is STRONG. ROFL!
Congrats again! Sounds like you are doing great. I felt like crap until around 13 weeks with my first and 15-17 weeks with my second and third. I also had a HUGE aversion to smells and poultry (?) with #1 (Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar lotion made me GAG) and wanted to eat nothing but steak and bean burritos in my first trimester. Pregnancies are crazy, yo!
I am insanely excited for you! You will be a wonderful mother!
I have a 12 week old and Im sure you will do soooo much better keeping your fitness going throughout the pregnancy than I did. Now Im struggling to get my running mojo back. I went lazy and really regret it now. I just finished reading “Run like a mother” – hilarious and a great read. I would definately suggest it.
My 5 year old was born on 8/24… he would love to share a bday with your little peanut!
Congrats again!
Ahh! I came to send you the link to this recipe for Copycat Pizza Factory Breadsticks:
http://www.sweettreatsmore.com/2012/02/copycat-pizza-factory-breadsticks.html
But now I saw your happy news!! Your blog is one of my absolute favorites and I am so happy for you and Billy. Congratulations!!
Yay! Yay! Yay!!! I’m so happy for you!!! I am pregnant with my first (Due May 25th
It’s a girl ). I defintely had all day nausea and vominting from 6 weeks til 15 weeks. Zofran REALLY helped so I could keep some food down. I’m not sure if you are vomiting or not… Now that my belly is getting bigger i’ve found I need a belly support band when I excerise so I don’t get sore afterwards so look into getting one of those for later. When you have your glucose test at 28 weeks bring a snack for afterwards (cashews were perfect for me). I started getting heartburn at night in the second trimester and zantac has really helped with that
I would get super anxious sometimes thinking about labor and having a baby but one thing that has helped is going to classes and talking to other soon to be mom’s about it
So happy for you!
I’m so excited for you. I am not a mom, but an aunt. You seem to be a great aunt so I’m sure you will be a great mommy too. I can’t wait to follow you on your journey!! Congrats!
I should not being crying this much!!! hahaha!!! the website isn’t working on my phone and it just occurred to me to check on an actual computer b/c I was seriously like how are they going to drop this bomb then have technical difficulties?!!?! I was lost! haha I wish I could convey my excitement and how so very cute I think you two are and how cute and loved this baby will be!!! Best news I’ve had in a very long time!!! Btw, I really started crying hard when you said Billy puts his hand on your back and checks on you after ever .25 miles!!! The pic of him too was too much!! So so sooooo happy!!!
How exciting! I worked out until I was 30 weeks pregnant, but then I had to stop because I started dilating early. I never got morning sick, I think it’s because I ran and did weight training all throughout the pregnancy. I had such a great experience and my husband and I both say it’s because I was healthy and did everything normal (continued working out, eating regularly and healthily? haha) Congrats, can’t wait to hear more details!
I’m so excited for you. I am not a mom, but I am an aunt. You seem to be a great aunt so I’m sure you will be a great mommy too. I can’t wait to follow you on your journey!! Congrats!
CONGRATULATIONS (again!!) I am so so so excited for you and Billy. You two will have the cutest little running baby ever. And I love the names you have picked out
Ok, I seriously was lost this afternoon! I checked your page after about a day of not reading it- sorry- full time job calling- and wondered why and what you were talking about! As soon as I realized it was YOU who is preggers, OMG! I cannot believe how happy I am for you and Billy! That is so wonderful, and I can nly wish you the best in health and happiness as you two begin this amazing adventure together! Nothing compares to being a Mom and parent- I can never imagine my life before it. Now, I truly know what my own parents went through- oohhh boy- I hope you were good to yours:-) my only advice… Do what is right for YOU, janae. Everyone in the world will tell you more bad things than good, but listen to your own heart- as well as Billy’s. You two are great people with big hearts and lots of love, and that will get you through many a sleepless night with a little one! Thanks for sharing this with all of us:-) congrats!!!!!
AHHH so exciting!!!!!!! congrats!
You would have thought that I actually “know” you , I got so excited when I read the news!!! Congratulations to you and Billy!! Wow, little one better be ready to RUN.
Lots of love!!!
Been reading your blog for a while, but never really ever comment. Congrats! I’m a Mom of one boy(two years old ) and have a girl on the way (19wks along). I was really sick with both until about week 13, so it’s totally normal and I’d say a majority of women at least feel some sort of nausea and have food aversions like crazy! And, being tired? Ugh, all the time that first while but now it’s much better. I’m a mt. biker and skier and I didn’t really workout with my son, but I’ve been working out (spin, walking, lifting light weights) the entire time thus far with this one and I feel so good! Much more energy and just all around feel better. It’s hard to feel that way once you get bigger and more uncomfortable, but keep at it as long as you can…walking is THE best thing you can do besides yoga and some spinning in my book.
Congrats and best of luck!
Congratulations! I’m so excited for you. You guys will be amazing parents. My best morning-sickness tip–lifesavers. Carry them with you at all times, and suck on one the moment (or seven) you feel any nausea coming on. Seriously!
So happy for you both!! Congratulations, you are going to be such an inspirational loving mother!
Congrats to you and Billy! Such great news.
Congrats janae I’m so happy for you! You and Billy will be amazing parents
we need a yogurtland date to catch up! I had 2 babies in august and I ran and worked out through those 2 pregnancies.
I’ve only been reading for a few months now, but I have to de-lurk and say congratulations! So excited for you! (and that was a super cute way to announce it)
Congrats!! You are going to be such a great momma!!
I am so excited for you! I just saw some pretty intense jogging strollers at Runner’s Corner today and I wondered who would need them, but of course it’d be awesome for you! No tips for pregnancy or anything from me since I haven’t been there yet, but hope you feel better and no nausea for the rest of the time.
I love it! I’m due 8/20!! And I’m running a half in 3 weeks! Congratulations!!!
YAYAYAYAYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! YEAHHHHOOOOO!!!!!!!! I am BEYOND excited for you, Billy, your entire family, and the baby!!! He/she is going to be loved and cared for so, so, SO much. You and Billy are going to be such wonderful parents. I can’t wait to follow your journey and, as always, am looking forward to your daily updates
CONGRATULATIONS JACOBS FAMILY!
Ever since I saw your announcement this morning I was so excited for the first official POST! Janae, we ARE BFF, didn’t you know?
I am so so excited for you and Billy. You are truly due one week before my real-life best friend so I will be passing your blog onto her for someone to chat with while you all go through trimesters and other things
Congratulations again, we all love you oodles and think this is SO awesome!!
I am so happy for you and Billy!!!! I can’t wait to read about how well you do running while pregnant. If I ever could have another baby I would LOVE to keep running the whole time. And I totally think it should be a girl named Janilly Billnae.
Congratulations to you both! Your baby is a lucky one, being born into such a close and supportive family! Take care!
OMG OMG OMG!!!! I am not as good at keeping up on the blog anymore due to lack of time but I try to check in every now and then with you – what AMAZING news for you both! I’m so stoked for you guys. Can’t wait to read all the fun details along the way. CONGRATS!!!
Awe so exciting news! Congrats you two! You are going to make the best parents.
I am so excited for you guys!!! Huge congrats. That pic was awesome. Can’t wait to follow your journey!!
Holy Swedish Fish I am excited for you!! I can’t wait to watch your journey and stalk your prego running!!
Congrats! You make number 1,000,000 (no exaggeration) of the people that I know that are expecting this year (myself being 9,999,999- Due Aug. 11 with a GIRL, just found out!) Since I found out all I’ve been doing all day at work is listening to Pregtastic Podcast under the kids and family tab in itunes! SOOO informative! Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you as to how addictive they are! Congrats again!
CONGRATS!!!!!! I showed all my roommates your picture this morning and we all about died. I go to BYU and hope to run into you one day on campus! I ran 4 today outside and it was beautiful!!!
AHHHH!!! OMGoodness!!! I am SOOOOO happy for you both! You are going to make one incredible momma, and Bill an impecable dad! Enjoy this moment hun, and all that come after!
Ahhh I’m so incredibly happy for you and Billy!!! All my best wishes and prayers for you!!!
Seriously so so so adorable. You both will make the BEST parents and I am so excited for you!!!!! Can’t wait to read all about it!!
Congratulations! That is so very exciting. You will both make wonderful parents. Can’t wait to hear about your weird cravings haha I’m not sure how much weirder they could get?? So fun!
OMG! OMG! OMG!!!!
CONGRATS!!!!!!! I’m so excited for you and Billy!!!! You guys are seriosuly going to make the BEST parents! And I did notice you stopped posting your times- we’re bff’s like that. AHHHHH! I can’t wait to read your journey!!
And that shoe picture?! TOO adorable!!
so i havent even shared this on my blog yet (maybe i will tomorrow haha)..but i cant help but tell you..im pregnant too!! we’re so close my due date is sept 8!! yay!!! it’s so exciting isnt it??? seeing that ultrasound is probably the coolest thing in the entire world..its just amazing. im actually training for boston..which is proving to be complicated haha obviously. my dr said it was okay but ive been watching my pace…i walk quite a bit..etc. i still dont know if i’ll be able to pull it off..we’ll see. its great you’re staying active though and listening to your body!! that’s all you can do! CONGRATS!! SOOO happy for u both!
Ahhh!!! This morning, I kept thinking please don’t prank us.
I’m too excited to give out advice at the moment. I am beyond super excited for Billy and you!!!! I will add you and the baby to our prayer list. Yay; can’t wait til you start showing your beautiful belly.
Congrats, and I must say, good job on waiting to spill the beans. I know a lot of people are basically willing to spill the beans now within the first ten weeks (or as soon as they pee on the stick), but I guess for me it seems like waiting through the first semester and letting the suspense grow is part of the fun. A secret between spouses or families. Look forward to more posts!
No doubt Billy will be a great dad but you too will be a fabulous mom- so excited for you both and remember, now is the chance to eat endless amounts of ice cream without being questioned
Awesome! I have two littlies (ages 5 & 18 months old) when I was age 21 and 25. I had four weeks worth of morning sickness with my eldest (boy) and 10 weeks worth with my second (girl). I stopped running after my first trimesters and replaced it with a lot of fast walking, only because my belly felt so sore running. Trust your body it’ll indicate what it needs and when it’s had enough of something. Enjoy.
Congratulations! That is wonderful news!!!
Babies are the best! Enjoy this phase of your journey.
Congratulations! Such awesome news! I’m expecting twins due August 23rd, so it will be fun to read about your pregnancy on here as well!
Congrats Janae and Billy! I am so excited to hear all about the pregnancy and look forward to hearing funny stories tips expercience etc.
I really enjoy the blog and as always thanks so much for sharing your lives!
Congrats! I am due Aug. 27th so we are almost on the exact same day! My husband said he saw you at a BYU basketball game a couple weeks ago but I didn’t. That’s awesome that you keep up the running and working out while preganant. I have a really hard time and with my first towards the end I just kept saying how I couldn’t wait to start running again.
Oh Janae, you continue to impress me with your classiness and your tact. Instead of overrunning us with too many details and extraneous information, you waited until your first trimester was through and clear, and have recapped all we need to know (not to mention knocking it out of the ballpark by being completely hardcore) ! You are seriously a class act, Janae, and you just made me love you even more. You and Billy are going to be such wonderful parents!! Can’t wait to watch it unfold. Thanks for being a great blogger!
YAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!
This is just about the COOLEST thing I have heard in a long time
I am grinning from ear to ear! I am so very happy and excited for the two of you
My oldest was due on Aug. 28th but didn’t show up until Labor Day weekend (Sept. 3). You will be such a sweet, loving mommy!
Working out through a pregnancy is THE BEST! I was horribly sick when I was pregnant with Aidan for about the first 22 weeks. I slept and slept and puked and puked. I went on Zofran around week 8 to curb the nausea which helped a bit, but I still puked at least once most days. It was a pain in the butt to get to the gym, but I always felt a ton better once I did.
Another tip, make sure you have plans to continue working out after the baby comes (e.g. membership at a gym with daycare, husband agree to watch baby while you run, good jogging stroller)
Keep up the running and working out! You’ll be such a great Mama!
Congrats!!!!! You are going to be a fantastic mom!!! We were looking at running shirts the other day for our girls trip/half marathon coming up and found some cute pregnancy running shirts on the site!! Have you seen them? http://www.onemoremile.net
Congratulations! You are going to have one very lucky baby. <3
YAY! I’m so happy for you both – congratulations!
Hi, it is amazing news! Congratulations! We just dont know each other (in person), but I am really happy for you! There is a good chance your baby will be a leo…good luck with it
Congratulations!!!! So beyond excited for you and Billy! (Even though we don’t know each other in real life, and I typically don’t have time to comment, I feel like I know you since I blog stalk you).
I felt nauseated with both of my pregnancies. It was so hard to teach everyday! I never actually got sick, but felt awful and could only eat salty foods like salt bagels, chips, pretzels …oh and those darn Five Guys fries! I couldn’t stand the sight/smell of a lot of my “go to foods” like veggies and chicken.
I ran through most of my 2nd pregnancy and here and there with my first (had a few things that stopped me with my first). I loved running or at least walking = it made me feel great.
Can’t wait to hear more!!!!
I haven’t caught up on blogs in a few days, and Oh My Gosh, I was so surprised!!!! Congratulations! I’m so excited to hear about your journey to “mommy hood”. You’re going to be great parents
P.S. I stared at the shoe pic and was trying to figure out what you were sharing…Billy and you have the same type of shoes? The color of your shoes? Then I was like, “Holy Cow! There’s a pair of baby shoes!!!” Lil’ slow over here in the mornings! Haha
This is like reading about a bff’s pregnancy, I am so genuinely happy for you
Well, I’m going to comment on the last post as well now that I can see the blog again (and I think it’s beautiful that the blog went down due to such an outpouring of love and happiness – it just shows that when people are as incredibly, genuinely kind and loving as you and Billy clearly are, the whole blogging world smiles with you).
I think your baby may well be the luckiest child in the USA, for sure.
My workout was a run in the cold, but sunny dawn. And I know this sounds strange, but all through it I was smiling a little because your announcement was so genuinely heart-warming.
xxx
how exciting!!!!!!
Congratulations! I know I don’t know you personally, but after seeing how supportive your family is and how great you are with your nieces and nephew, I think you are going to make a great mother.
So excited still I could almost scream – I almost did yesterday at 6am at work while reading your blog
Was so excited when my friend got online so I could tell her check out your blog ASAP. O Janae… this is awesome… and super helpful too because I need someone as chatty as you to go through this first so maybe I will feel ok about doing it one day too haha.
I am so so excited for you Janae!!!! This post just MADE my morning! Thanks for sharing your life with us!
Congrats! I just wanted to let you know that running a marathon is possible if you want to. I ran the chicago marathon last year at 18 weeks pregnant and ran until 26 weeks. Of course my pace was WAY slower than typical, i drank a ton of water, and peed A LOT. My doctors encouraged me to keep running if I wanted to. I stopped running because it was becoming too hard to breathe. I am due this friday and can’t wait to start running again. Congrats again, and good luck!
I am so so happy for you!
I had morning sickness butbit wasn’t severe. It was gone my the second trimester. My pregnancies were pretty easy. It goes by fast and obviously you want it to bc you want to meet your babies. But try to enjoy the pregnancy. It’s an amazing time that you dull always cherish. Can I send you a gift? Is that weird?!?!? Congrats again to you and Billy!
Congratulations again!!! The 2nd trimester is really the honeymoon of pregnancy – I averaged about 40 miles a week and felt FANTASTIC for almost every run! Looking forward to following your pregnancy journey!!
Your post brings a smile to my heart. This baby is blessed already and she/he is not even born yet.
I love that Curly is sharing her candy with you and the baby already!
Congrats to you and Billy! What exciting news
Congrats again! This is so exciting and I love the running shoe picture!
Good people come into this world on August 24th… Its my birthday
its also great because its far enough away from Christmas AAAND you can have outdoor parties when celebrating (I’m in Canada. The winters are brutal here.) Congrats.
I’m so excited for you! I can’t wait to follow your pregnancy over the next few months! Congrats!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m so thrilled for you and Billy. Congratulations times a zillion!
I am pregnant too and due Sept. 9th, just a couple weeks after you! I haven’t been able to run at all though. I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in October when I was 6 weeks pregnant and then ended up having a miscarriage the next day. The doctors said the two weren’t related, but it made my husband and me nervous enough to halt the running this time. So, now I mainly just walk. I get sad when I see people running and I always thought I’d be a running preggo momma, but I’ll survive.
I have had horrible nausea and still do, even though I’m 13 weeks. I’m also EXHAUSTED ALL THE TIME. I can’t wait for this to pass! I cannot get anything done. Plus, I am huge already. I started wearing maternity pants in my second month. It’s crazy. Partly I blame it on my mom because she manages a maternity store and sent me all this maternity stuff – the minute I tried it on I felt so much more comfortable. However, I look 5 months pregnant already, so can’t wait to see what I’ll look like in another few months!
Good luck with everything. I can’t wait to hear about your journey. It’s fun reading about other people’s pregnancies while going through my own. You guys are gonna be the best parents ever!!
Sorry for your loss, Kattrina.
Thank you Hannah – that was so sweet of you to say.
Congratulations! I’m excited for you guys!
I know I’m a little late to the party, but congrats again!
No personal pregnancy advice to share here, but I do have an MPH in nutrition so here are a couple of things I filed away for future use when I was in school:
1. It’s SO good for you and your baby to exercise while pregnant but very important not to get overheated. Your baby can’t cool itself and is very sensitive to higher than normal temperatures. So, no running outside once it starts getting hot!
2. Labor is much shorter and easier for women who exercise throughout pregnancy. My exercise physiology professor was in labor for only 2 hours with her first!
3. Your baby can actually taste what you’re eating through the amniotic fluid- crazy right? This is especially important with breastfeeding, but you can actually start developing healthy eating habits in your baby right now. I know this happened with me because beef and pork made my mom really sick when she was pregnant with me, and guess what types of meat I have NEVER liked? In contrast, I have always loved all fruits and veggies, even when I was a little kid.
ps- the running shoes photo is super cute!
I’m a long time reader, rare commenter, but I had to say that this is the most adorable, sweetest pregnancy announcement/story I’ve seen on a blog!
I love that you are blogging and sharing this with us. I cannot wait to get pregnant and have babies and I think all the time about how it will change running so I am excited to see how things go for you. The way you described how Billy takes care for you reminds me exactly of my boyfriend (I actually just texted him to tell hiim abou tthis post) and he tells me all the time how when we get married and have kids how he is going to take care of me. I should warn him not to stock up on swedish fish
You guys will be the best and most fun parents on planet earth. I’m very happy for you!!!!!!
No advice- because I think you will be GREAT just the way you are. I feel I can consider myself as an “expert mom” since I had twins and lived to tell about it.
Parenting is a BLAST (and a marathon).
Enjoy!!!!!
Love,
Kelly in Michigan
okay, I’ll be honest. I have zero pregnancy hormones, and I teared up reading this. GAH, I’m so excited for you.
now, I have one request: belly photos. I want to see how much you’re showing!
you’re going to be the cutest parents ever. but you already know that.
and, hey. if you’re for naming that kid Alyssa, I’m be down with that.
My only advice is to enjoy this time as much as possible…it is SO exciting. I was able to run well into my 7th month & the only thing that really stopped me then was it was just such a pain to have to find a bathroom every mile. I ended up using the elliptical the last couple of months & even after my son was born, if I couldn’t get him to sleep, I’d strap him into the baby bjorn & jump on the elliptical – he fell asleep every time.
I agree with you and your doctor – the ONLY thing that stopped my ‘morning/all day sickness’ was when I would exercise — sounds like you’re being smart about slowing it down a bit – but as fit as you are, you should be able to keep it up the entire pregnancy.
Oh – and BTW – my son was born in August — on a day that reached 105 — summer birthdays rock for kids!
Congratulations – you and Billy are going to be wonderful parents.
congratulations!!!
I am so super duper excited for you!!! We have/had such similar experiences. I am 26+ weeks pregnant right now and still running. I didn’t find out I was pregnant until I was 8+ weeks, which was about 5 days after I ran a marathon! I also make sure to run with others when outside or I take it to the treadmill. So far every ultra sounds I’ve had and all blood work has come back normal.
Just make sure to listen to your body, if you are tired and do not feel like run. Don’t! Conversation pace is key to being able to run longer. and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!!!
I can’t wait to follow your pregnant running journey!
Soooooooooooo exciting! Congratulations!! I just had my first child in December and it has been the most amazing experience of my life! It gets crazy and you will be tired but you will be the happier than you ever have been in your entire life! Enjoy every moment
yay!!
I am so happy for you and Billy. This is so incredibly exciting for you! I think it’s great that you’ve already talked to your doctor about your running and have a great plan. Oh and I love the names you picked. Classy.
i am so so so so happy for you guys. I really hope it can stay in till august 30 so it can be born on my birthday! can’t wati to hear about the name choices!!!
Ohhh I just knew it! I had a feeling when your posts changed a bit and I have been watching to see when you would tell us
Oh momma how your life will change!! I ran all the way up to 35 weeks and even ran a half marathon race at 19 weeks and a 10K race at 30 weeks. No one could tell at 19 but I sure got some looks at 30 weeks let me tell you!!! Especially when I was passing people right and left
Run until your body tells you no. Watch out on the treadmill because you will experience balance issues as your center of gravity changes and as your belly expands. I experienced some severe round ligament pains as my muscles and ligaments that inserted into the groin area stretched but this is not dangerous for you or the baby so you just have to decide when things get too uncomfortable. Keep on running momma because it really does make recovery happen quickly and you will not feel like such a blimp as your little peanut is growing
CONGRATS!!!!
Sooooo excited for you!!!!
Congrats to you both! Enjoy every moment of pregnancy
EEE soo excited, I’m in nursing school doing my final preceptorship on the maternity ward as it is my PASSION, I am sooo excited for youuuuu!!!!!
Congrats, Janae!! I tried to leave you a comment this weekend but all the traffic you were getting must have messed up something because I got an error
You are going to be a great mom! And I can’t believe last weekend you ran a 1:45 half, pregnant. Gives me some hope that when I take the plunge with the baby stuff I’ll be able to keep running (slower, obv), too.
Congratulations!!!!!! So happy for you guys!!!
I don’t think my comment made it through yesterday, so I will share it again today
OMG I AM SO EXCITED AHHHHHHHH!
Is it strange that I got super excited even though I have never met you before? Clearly not, we are all bff’s as you stated. How very exciting.
You guys are going to be the cutest parents ever. Congrats!!
That is SO exciting!! Many congratulations!
Congratulations! How exciting.
I’m a mom but had no morning sickness. You should probably hate me. However, I will say that running and exercising made me feel normal in a time when everything seemed so out of control. It’s incredibly awesome that your doctor is so supportive.
Congratulations! I love being a mom. Cherish every minute from now until forever because it goes by so fast. I had one episode of morning sickness in the beginning, but my biggest complaint was being exhausted. In the middle and end of my pregnancy my ribs, lower back and pelvis hurt. I was carrying twins so that probably contributed to most of my pain. It’s great your doctor supports your running.
SDFJKLFJSD:KGJSIUHJGN I can’t believe I missed the announcement! Congrats! <3
Congratulations!!! This is so exciting!! I wish you and your growing family the very best!!
So darn excited for the two of you!! You are going to be great parents!!
Congrats again!! You and Billy are going to be the greatest parents. I wish you both all the best in the world!! I was so excited yesterday that I have told everyone here about your great news. My husband is worried that I may now think it’s time for us since I will be reading about baby things. He just accepted the running biz.
I’m still hoping that you visit KY sometime, we could celebrate with some froyo.
P.S. you already have that glow
Maybe everyone who complained about the RnR Vegas dirty water situation is actually pregnant?!?
Seriously – congrats! I think the information you will share will be so valuable to moms-to-be everywhere. Before Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe took their pregnancies “public” there just wasn’t a lot of good information out there in the public realm about exercise (esp running) during pregnancy. I’m willing to bet your knowledge will help a lot of women out there.
Congratulations to you and Billy! So excited for you. I’ve been reading your blog for a while (sorry for not commenting!). And I love your passion for life (and food!). Your family is wonderful and you will make great parents. What a lucky little kid. Take care of yourself and I can’t wait to read more about your pregnancy – especially how you maintain your fitness. So exciting!! And again congratulations. All the best to you!
Oh my Gooooddddnessss!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND BILLY!!!! I am sooo excited for you!!! I love how you shared your news with us.. the pic of the shoes is soo cute!! I can’t wait to read about your experience with pregnancy and maintaining your fitness level. I’m curious
Take good care of yourself Janae!!
CONGRATULATIONS JANAE & BILLY!!! You guys are going to be AWESOME-SAUCE AHHHMAZING parents! I’m so happy for you! I can’t wait to read all the details!!
congrats Janae! what an amazing time in your life.
I’m currently 37 weeks and am still jogging (although slow and not very far). I ran a half while I was 20 weeks and haven’t raced since then. I really think staying active will help in the long run so keep it up!
I made a pregnancy page on my blog as well to kind of recap all of the weekly updates I was writing.
good luck with everything!
I am so so so so sooooo excited for you, Janae!!!! This post was so great, too. I’m not a momma yet, but just got married a year ago, and we’re definitely thinking about it, and I’ve been feeling that “baby fever” coming up pretty intensely lol! And now one of my role models (yes, YOU!!!) is having a babyyyy!!! So happy for you both!
p.s. JANILLY. I LOVE IT!
Contrats!!! That is so awesome!.
I am 33 weeks now. My first trimester was rough and it wasn’t until I finally gave up trying everything else that I realized running made me feel better instead of worse. Everyone around me (outside of my husband and doctor) initially thought it insane that I’d choose to go run instead of curl up in a ball on the couch.
Overall, I was able to run easily (well sort of) until about two weeks ago. I ran a half at 24 weeks and 28 weeks, neither what I would consider racing or fast.
Every day that I can still do something, whether it be run, run-walk, swim, is just another day to be thankful.
Congratulations!!!!! You and Billy will be awesome parents, and I’m sure your kid will eventually become an amazing runner to follow in your footsteps
Congratulations!!!!!
End of August babies are the best!! (even though August is brutal)
I ran till about June, the east coast humidity and heat got to me and I changed to waddling.
So happy for you!
I guess I’m a little late to the party (behind on my Google Reader, SR tipped me off!!) but WOW! Congratulations! How exciting for you two. I’m now neglecting my work catching up on all things HRG baby related!
Congrats! I am due the exact same day! YAY
SO glad that your comments are now up & running again!!
I loved hearing your pregnancy story- too funny that you peed right in the store. Haha!! I bet Billy is BEYOND excited to be a Dad. You guys are going to be the BEST parents. I promise!!
I am SO excited for you!! I am also preggers and due Aug 16th! I haven’t stopped my running either- but have slowed down for sure! So excited I can come to this blog now for fitness AND pregnancy!!! Woo hoo!!!! PS- I think it will be a GIRL!
So excited for you. I hadn’t been able to see your bloc for a few days and I’m so glad skinnyrunner posted an update.
Oh girl … I had 24/7 sickness until 18 weeks. Lost 15 pounds haha. BUT there are these candies called “Preggie Pops” that are AH-MAZING and help a lot! Enjoy this time … it is fleeting! Granted the outcome is amazing. My daughter is 5 months old today!
Amazing!!!! congrats!
OMG! I miss like 1.5 days of reading blogs and THIS WONDERFUL NEWS is declared???
I know that plenty of people have said this, but CONGRATULATIONS, JANAE!!!
God has blessed you guys abundantly, and God has blessed your baby so much by giving him/her such wonderful, loving parents.
Your little Billnae/Janilly is going to be strong and beautiful like mommy
So so so excited for you and your family!!!
Btw soooo following you on instagram now!!
ok i’m finally catching up, and wow! CONGRATULATIONS!!! it could not happen to two people more kind, prepared, hilarious, and ready
(all assuming from your posts, but i feel like i know yall so well…odd?! just a big fan of the blog!) seriously, God bless and hope you keep feeling great and all is healthy for the rest of it. cant wait to keep reading!
congrats! so excited for y’all!
I just have to tell you CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy for you. I don’t comment much but I read your blog all the time and feel like I know you.
I have a son and I can just tell you there is NOTHING IN THE WORLD like being a Mom. You are not even going to believe how much you will love your baby. It gives me goose bumps thinking about it and I get so happy to hear when other people are pregnant and get to experience that. My baby boy is my “best, best friend” – as he says.
I see how much you love your neices/nephews and know you and your hubby are going to be great parents!! So happy for you!!!
Congratulations!! just headed over here from skinny runner….so happy for you and billy…it is an extraodinary feeling being pregnant and being a mom…someone said to me that when you have a baby its like having your heart walking outside of your body…boy is that true…being a mom to two healthy beautiful girls it is the most amazing and rewarding feeling! advice…hhmm….i say enjoy every single moment…the good, the bad…enjoy eating that extra piece of cake/ice cream….send billy on those late night snack runs! lol…drink lots of water…oh yeah most importantly and i don’t think you’ll have this problem….but just in case put lots of lotion on your tummy area it will help with your skin stretching and will help prevent getting stretch marks….if i can think of anything else I’ll be sure to pass them on to you….
and oh yeah…if your gut feeling is that you are having a girl…you are probably right! i was right on with my two girls even before i went in for a sonogram…congrats again!
)
ahhhhhhhhh! big congrats to you and Billy!! My computer has been wonkie and I’m sick and I just saw this. how exciting! Hope your pregnancy is smooth as possible
p.s. you HAVE to name the child Janilly. I just snorted when I read that
I lived off cottage cheese and string cheese during my first trimester too, it was the best! Good luck with the pregnancy:) You are going to be such a great mom!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I cried reading about how you found out you were pregnant and how you peed on a stick at the bathroom in the store. LOL. I peed on the stick at work.
I’m not nearly as fast as you, but I did run till the day I gave birth and let me tell you, it was the best thing ever. I was in labor for 5hours and pushed for 10 minutes. And the entire time, my OB/GYN, who is also in my running group, talked about what marathon we were running next. HAHAHA.
In any event, I wish you a very healthy and uneventful pregnancy.
Congratulations again.
Congratulations! So excited for you! I love the shoe picture. And this is hilarious:
What are we going to name the baby?
-Janilly if it is a girl and Bilnae if it is a boy;)
Congrats girl this is sooooo exciting! You will be the cutest family ever! Yay!!!!!
I am just now getting around to reading this post and it is so sweet! I am so excited for you guys!! It is going to be so wonderful to see you and your family go through this new time in your life!
Congrats again Janae!!
Ah fall behind on blog reading & this is what I miss, saw it posted on SR & had to rush over – Congratulations!!!! Not only are you & Billy going to make amazing parents but babyHRG is coming into a family filled with love – so excited for you guys.
Congratulations!
Your picture is ADORABLE. What an exciting time!
Twas the weirdest thing to hear you were pregnant because for the past few weeks, I had been thinking about how you would cope with running when you got pregnant! Congratulations! You will make a wonderful mum.
Tash x
Aw congratulations! Such fab news. A few weeks ago on Marathon talk they had a section all about running/ training while being pregnant – might be worth a look?
Thanks Maria! I will definitely check that out!
First of all congratulations! I am so excited for you! I actually just had my little man on Monday. You can read about his birth story on my blog if you want but don’t let it scare you. His birth story is not your typical delivery.
I wanted to let you know that you might experience what is call round ligament pain while you are running. I would describe this as pain or pressure in your groin/crotch area. Totally normal so don’t get worried.
Congratulations! I’m so excited for you two! You’ll be great…just remember you should wait at least 6 months before feeding your infant sweedish fish
Wow Janae, just found your blog through FB, so fun. Congratulations that is so so exciting. I feel you about the sports bra situation… its tough, just wait until after the baby then you’ll need A MILLION. seriously, no one told me that and I found out the hard way! Glad you’re feeling better, I bet you’ll be the fittest pregnant lady/mom ever!
Congratulations!! What an absolutely adorable picture!
As far as advice goes, I highly recommend this book: http://www.amazon.com/Exercising-Through-Pregnancy-James-Clapp/dp/1886039593
It was written a while ago but it kind of debunks all the old advice about keeping your heart rate below 140, etc. I did buy a heart monitor and definitely recommend one if you don’t already have it. It just kind of helped to keep me in check. I couldn’t run and did the elliptical instead b/c it was too uncomfortable. But I was ALL stomach – I literally looked like I had a basketball sitting on my belly! I also did Group Power (like Body Pump) all throughout. Ask the teacher for modifications and they will really work with you to make sure you are safely doing the work out – esp not laying flat on your back, etc. You may have some strange cravings and food aversions! I literally ate like 4-5 apples a day when I was pregnant with my son – I wanted them constantly!! Enjoy and feel good!
Congrats Janae! I had no idea you were prego! That is wonderful news.
I hope it is a girl too.
OMG.
I miss a few days of blog reading and come back to the BEST NEWS EVER.
Congrats. How about I move to Utah and take over your Maternity Leave? Deal? Deal.
-Molly, aka, devoted reader, fellow teacher =)
Hi Janae!
First things first: Congrats on the baby! Second, that is the cutest picture ever of Billy playing with the kiddos. Third, you will be running our race (AF Canyon Half) six months pregnant. You are my hero. Enough said.
Congrats!
Holly
Correction: 7 months pregnant. (I was never very good at math;)
Holy Amazing.
Waaaaahhhh! I had no idea you are preggers! It took me like ten minutes to scroll down and leave a congrats. You are going to be such a fun awesome mom. Make sure you get an amamamamazing jogger. I’m sure you’ll be getting all sorts of Advice and I always felt like people wanted to share wayyyy too many horror stories. After you have the little one though the ordeal sort of becomes a badge o honor weirdly enough. I was sick up to six months unless I exercised. It made the morning sickness night and day for me. Why don’t people tell you morning sickness is not just for mornings?! Crazy people. I dunno how my mo had four kids, when I asked her she said memory loss. Good luck and the best advice I could Eva share would be truly enjoy every minute even if your pregnancy or your labor or your delivery don’t go exactly as you plan. But you don’t seem to have any problems enjoying the ride!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I have cut down on reading all my favourite blogs primarily because I do not have internet at home, which sucks but oh well….
I had no idea till today and it is March 18th here in New Zealand. I posted a pic of new zealand froyo on your facebook
Hi! It is Linda. Formally Carolinagirl. I have been away from blogging for awhile due to some health issues. I was so excited to hope on here and see that you are pregnant. Oh! The running shoes people are going to send you…;) Congrats!!!! Love, Linda
….I stop reading blogs for a couple of months (due to changing jobs, being a bit too busy and not being able to spend hours on the internet like at my old job!) and I miss out on huge news like this?!!?!?
