The Answer To My Problem:

by Janae on February 22, 2012

I figured out the solution to help me stop feeling overwhelmed….do absolutely nothing productive.

This included watching The Biggest Loser and yes, I am doing a thumbs up….Dolvett and Bob are the only reasons I am still watching the show.  I did fall asleep about 15 minutes in and woke up right before the weigh in so I missed all of the drama in between.

Photo 2 copy 2

Billy was about to leave on his run and I begged him to make me a baked potato (put in the microwave) for me so that I didn’t have to start being a real person and get out of bed until my dinner was ready for me, teaching early morning spin poops me out.

He played a pretty funny joke on me and decided to cook a ‘normal’ person serving size for a potato….I don’t think so honey.

Photo 3 copy

It turned out to be a good thing because for my second ‘Janae’ sized potato I came up with the brilliant idea to top it with salsa.  That probably sounds gross to you but I say if you love both foods dearly then combine them into one bite.

Photo 3

Yoga was skipped (at least I wore my yoga clothes, that kind of counts) because I forgot that a certain someone had been counting on us to come to something very important.

My Dad:

IMG 9354

Okay, really my nephew but this event is one of my dad’s all-time favorite yearly things.  The Pinewood Derby, for scouts they make a car and see who can make the fastest one.  My dad just gets a little into this and loves helping his kids and grandkids and doing all of the equations/smart stuff to insure that their car wins.  He has never lost until last night, they only lost by 4/100s of a second.

And the reason we really love going to these sorts of things:  refreshments.

Wait why is potato topped with salsa gross….it’s freakin’ delicious! I’m with you on that one! I had such a random but delicious dinner last night: veggie stir fry with prawns & seafood and feta stirred in…all topped with hummus!

I LOVE that mango salsa! and I made salmon burgers last night – I think that’s my favorite dinner. I am the same way when I get overwhelmed – I do nothing instead. a weird phenomenon. Hope you have a great day today:-)

The majority of my dinner last night consisted of chocolate cake and ice cream :) I got home late and that was all I wanted. Very satisfying. (I promise, I don’t eat that every night for dinner).
I have been watching the Biggest Loser on and off this season….but I’m really just focused on the BACHELOR and getting Courtney to go away!

Still watching. But just for Dolvette. No strange combinations right now. Dinner was steak and baked potato. And no running. TAPER!

I love salsa on my potato. My husband makes the best salsa in the world and it makes everything better. I’m watching Biggest Loser this year, but I have yet to connect with any of the contestants. By this point, I’m usually rooting big time for someone, but this group just seems to be holding back. And the game playing the black team pulled last night makes me sick. As long as Bob and Dolvett are around though, I’ll keep watching. I love those two!

I might need your husbands salsa recipe:) I totally agree…I usually have a favorite but this season I just know who I absolutely DO NOT want to win. Thank goodness for Bob and Dolvett!

Baked potatoes and salsa is sooo good. I’m thinking about having that for dinner tonight, since it’s Mike’s poker night.

Last night for dinner I made homemade cheese pizza. Delicious.

I’m definitely running today. I was going to run this morning, but that just wasn’t happening.

I love biggest loser. I fell asleep as well though. Last thing I remember is Daphne gaining weight. I’m going to have to google the results. Lately I’ve been putting honey mustard (from Town Spa – a pizza joint) on everything. Eggs, Sweet Potatoes, Salad.

I can’t believe I’m still watching biggest loser this season. The women on this season are so catty – Conda is the worst. She’s making herself look like an absolutely horrible person. I can’t wait to see her eliminated. Watch, she’ll probably win! Sheesh.

I wanted to watch this season but then never did! When I had Fios I would watch it on , OnDemand all the time! But after moving… no fios… sad.
I had a turkey sandwich and put jalapenos on it! And I ate about half a bag of pirate’s booty. It’s soooo good!
I was suppose to run this morning but that didn’t happen. So I’m just moving my running days around :)

Salsa on baked potatoes……a definite must!
Last night, made homemade mac and cheese and salads. I love when the peas of my salad or some of the salad dressing makes it into the cheesy goodness. Then for dessert, chopped up a banana and put a scoop of drumstick ice cream on top. I let it get all melty like…….ymmmmmm….those are my two weird combos of yesterday.
Just a 4 miler today. I gave myself a “i don’t feel like running, so I ‘m not” day off on Monday, and it was FANTASTIC. We have to remember to do those once and a while.

I was feeling SO overwhelmed this morning… China time. But then I realized that I was the problem. I was pushing myself to do more & be more in less time. What I needed was a chillax pill. I settled for chocolate & tea. We need to be more forgiving of ourselves & to realize that it’s OK to not be everything all the time :) Also… life is way more fun this way!

BL made me so mad last pm. I only saw the last hour (I taught aerobics from 4pm-8pm NONSTOP!!!! That’s not counting my morning classes……and teaching school). Point being, I swore to the TV that I was not going to watch another episode this season (yeh right..). BUT the show has completely lost it’s focus and purpose in my opinion.
I acutally didn’t eat din-din last pm. By the time I got home all I wanted to do was shower and gulp water…I can’t drink during classes b/c I have a bladder the size of a nickle…
I make “kitchen sink” salads daily so in most ppl’s opinion all my food choices are weird!

Reply

54 Katie February 22, 2012 at 11:06 am

YES! You can also do it with sweet potatoes, it is amazing. I just started doing this, I cook 5 sweet potatoes and russets, in whatever combination is available, in my slow cooker and throw them in a tupperware in the fridge. Then I take one to work each day with some toppings for the cheapest, most filling, lunch ever. It barely even gets the crockpot dirty. The microwaved sweet potato that was cooked a week ago in the slow cooker might not be the most beautiful thing you have seen, but just ignore it. The skin peels off easy and it tastes just as good as if you hadn’t been hoarding already cooked potatoes in your refrigerator all week.

55 Janae February 22, 2012 at 11:08 am

You guys are my heroes! Thank you so much for the link Kay and thanks Katie for letting me know about the sweet potatoes too! You guys are brilliant, I can’t wait to try this out TODAY!

56 Katie February 22, 2012 at 11:10 am

I’m apparently really passionate about this topic . . . I just noticed that this method posted above calls for wrapping the potatoes in foil. I’m not sure if this would change the consistency, but I just wash them and then drop them into the slow cooker still wet. You know, cut out the minute and a half that it might take to wrap them in foil. (Oh who am I kidding, really skipping the “have aluminum foil available in your house” part.)

My favorite potato is a sweet potato with stay butter, cinnamon, a drizzle of maple syrup, and peanut butter! It is soooo good(especially if u bake it. I have been putting my potato in the oven, going for my long run and when I come back my house smells good and after a quick shower, eat!! For new yrs appetizers we made bbq potato skins. It was so easy: bake the potato, scoop out most of the potato part, put Lloyd’s BBQ (already made BBQ of good quality) and heat them back up in oven. U can’t mess up a potato. :)
