Zero Friends and The Chobani Giveaway Winner

I just joined DailyMile.  I know I am like 400 years behind everyone else but if you have an account and want to be friends will you add me? I have zero friends, so do me a favor and add me mkay:)  My profile is HERE.  I really want to keep track of my miles/pace/how I feel this year. I am working on building a strong base and avoiding injury at the same time.  I will be doing more days of running but at a slower pace.  Make sense? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

Today I started my 2012 running (I always take Sundays as a rest day) with 9 miles at an 8:20 pace with a 1.5% incline.  2 episodes of Gossip Girl and Billy is now out buying earplugs for the next time I decide to hook up that awful show to the speakers of the treadmill for the whole household to hear.

You should be the person to change the fact that I have zero friends.

Since I decided to have such an unhealthy personal streak of eating cereal for lunch everyday, I thought it might be a good idea to at least try to make it a little bit healthier.  Not only did I choose a cereal that was enriched with 12 essential vitamins and minerals;) but I added a banana and a little over two tablespoons of chia seeds (most of them are under the bananas).  There are a lot of benefits for chia seeds but the benefit I am really loving is that they are an easy way to add some healthy fats to your meal.  Chia seeds are the highest plant source of Omega-3 fatty acids.   Plus, I added milk….looks pretty balanced to me…..just forget that there are no vegetables and only 60 grams of sugar.    I’ll eat some broccoli later.

The winner of the Chobani Giveaway is…..

I love, love, LOVE that cereal picture.. Perfect. I don’t use DailyMile, bc it scares me. But if I did, I’d be your friend ;)

Reply

I am on daily mile but i quit using it a while ago. Maybe I need to get back to using it. I started writing my workouts down in my planner instead.
My favorite part of today so far was my 10 mile run this morning.

Reply

I use Daily Mile and my Garmin to track my mileage. Just friended you!

My favorite part about Monday is that I’m almost out of work!

Reply

Just added you! I only have a couple friends on there too so I know how ya feel! :) I just started using it but before I was using RunningAhead which I liked a lot too. I like that you can interact with others on DailyMile though!

Reply

I like Daily Mile to keep track of my running. I don’t really track my cross-training though I probably should.
I’ve never used chia seeds. I usually get fat from nuts/nut butters and olive oil. And chocolate. :)
Favorite part of today was sleeping in too! Back to a regular schedule tomorrow. Blech.

I’m on daily mile! I just friend requested you :) I love being able to see how far I am going and I feel less likely to skip a workout because I don’t want people to judge me.

Eggs and low fat dairy is my fave way to get in healthy fats but I also take omega fish oils almost every morning.

I’m on Daily Mile. I’d love some new friends! (Sent a request to you, Janae, but if anyone else is game: http://www.dailymile.com/people/LovelyVino)

I put chia seeds on my salads! My other primary sources of fat are nuts/nut butters, olive oil, flax seed, and fish like salmon & tuna.

Best part of today was that DH shut his office down…and then actually stayed home! Usually he gives his employees off and still goes in himself. We did the Christmas un-decorating. :)

don’t worry, i don’t even have a dailymile account! i need to get on the bandwagon! ;)

i track my workouts on a blog page here: http://www.myfoodnfitnessdiaries.com/workouts/my-daily-workout-log-2/
i do it mostly for my own personal benefits, but also for my readers to see if they wish.

i’ve really been trying to focus on getting more healthy fats in my diet the last couple months. my favorites are nuts and nut butters, avocados, and flax or chia seeds!

my favorite part of today was a rockin’ workout, getting all the Christmas decor taken down, and having today off work!

I use Daily Miles and Nike+ with my Nike GPS watch. The support on DM is amazing. You are going to love it. I only like Mondays if I run. Today was an off day, so not so much.

Reply

I just joined daily mile this morning too, so you can be my first friend : ) I’m excited about tracking my miles for the year!

I LOVE chia seeds and put them on everything! I also just friended you on daily mile

Wooo dailymile! I use chia seeds, but avocados are my favorite and were on sale for 99 cents this week.

Reply

hahaha I was number 34 to add you!

I JUST signed up for daily mile a couple of days ago! Friended you…and you will be my first friend (once you accept). :) I was using runkeeper, but I didn’t like it as much. I like that daily mile has challenges you can join, which I will certainly be partaking in once I kick these shin splints…blah.

The best part about my Monday was lunch with my former college roomie. She’s awesome. :)

Reply

I love dailymile and Garmin Connect! I love avocados too and hate Mondays!!

Reply

I am on the daily mile too! I love it. I joined late in 2011 but I think I have most of my runs on there! It gives you your workout summary in a neat format.

Reply

I use chia seeds all the time! :)

Reply

I just started using a garmin which is great for knowing almost too much about your run! I don’t use dailymile but it seems cool. My Dad gave me an old school paper diary to keep track, this will be the first time I have ever recorded my runs.

New to chia seeds too but i love me some greek yogurt and fruit, so it seems a nice way to get it in. I would count guacamole as good fats too ;)

Reply

I use Daily Mile too! I don’t have any friends either, I just like to see how Manu donuts I burned off. :)

My favorite part of my Monday was my 4 mile run outside and watching the Pretty Little Liars marathon that is on! (even though I am far to ok’d for that show!)

Reply

I just sent a friend request your way on DailyMile! I’ve been using it for over a year–I really like it!

Reply

I added you!!

I quit DailyMile at the beginning of last year. It was just another time sucker…and found myself comparing to others a little too much! :-)

Reply

Ok you crack me up.. Chia seeds on that cereal! HAHA!! I have a daily mile account but don’t use it. :/

Reply

Hi Janae! Its been forever since I took down Year of the Redhead, but I’m back and just last night I reactivated Daily Mile also!! I sent ya a request so I can stalk your miles and feel inferior as I chub along. :)

Reply

I have a daily mile account, but no friends, I just joined yesterday.

Love the cereal pic!!

Reply

I just requested you as a friend on Daily Mile!! I haven’t logged my runs into DM since OCTOBER – AAH! I think it’s because I have ZERO friends too, so if you think about it, please add me as a friend so I have at least one friend. :)

I do log my workouts on a monthly calendar, as well as on my blog. I love being able to look back and see what I accomplished in a month.

Reply

OOH I’ll have to find you on Daily Mile. I JUST joined yesterday too.

Up until now I’ve been using the running log at Runner’s World.

I’ll see if I can friend you…still trying to figure the thing out!

Reply

Addin you on DM now! Never has chia seeds before, but I have heard that they are high in the omega 3’s. I’m actually reading a book right now called “Why Women Need Fat” and it talks a bit about omega 3’s and how the body has a difficult time reaping the benefits from them because we eat too many processed foods that are high in omega 6’s that cancel out all of the benefits from omega 3’s. It’s actually really interesting and I think the book is available to the public in the next few months.

Reply

Totally bummed I didn’t win but thats okay. I actually had this yogurt this morning and thought of this giveaway!

I used the daily mile too. I am trying to make sure to include my cross training this year. Currently I am not running because it causes me pain (I am preggo). Do you have a garmin? You can sync your runs to the daily mile using your garmin which is totally awesome!

My favorite part of today was when my hubby helped me cook dinner! We have a veggie pot pie in then oven. The recipe will be on my blog later this evening! :)

Reply

Um EW to mondays. i have nothing good to say about them. except today I did have the day off ;)
I actually signed up for Daily Mile today TOO just to see what it was about since one of my goals or 2012 is to get into running some. I havent messed around with it at all yet besides signing up but I will test it and add you of course but you cant laugh when I run 1 mile in like 15 minutes! haha
As far as fats, I am on a huge egg kick lately so that is definitely my main source at the moment. Love avocado though as well. Still need to try chia seeds!

Reply

I want to be your friend. Esp. on daily mile because it is awesome.

Reply

I use DailyMile too and I just Friended you~ I also use Garmin Connect.

Just joined Daily Mile 2 days ago, so I too am way behind.

Reply

I just started doing daily mile too. And I finally figured out how to add it as a widget to my blog. I really have issues with technology lol.

Reply

YAY dailymile :D

Reply

I want to try Chia seeds! It was tough going back to work today, but at least we had an inservice day. Tomorrow, my five year olds return, eeek!

Reply

That looks like a cool site; I may have to try it out. I’ve never been good at keeping records of workouts, but that seems like it would be a lot easier. Unfortunately I’ll have to wait a few days b/c I’m sick right now :(

Reply

I just requested to be friends! :-)

My favorite fats are peanut butter and any kind of nuts!

Reply

I just got a Garmin for Christmas and started using Garmin Connect and Daily Mile. I don’t have any friends yet so please accept my request :(

I get my fats from Chia seeds, nut butters and olive oil.

Reply

Hey lady!! I’m so behind – I’ll have to check this website out. Sounds cool!
I’m back down under now – I’m going for my first real run since Vegas today!
Miss you…have a great week back at school. Remember, the sooner you start school, the sooner it’s summer! :) xoxx

Reply

I do my track workouts by going to the track and running until I feel terrible. Then I know I did well.

In reality I get all my track workouts by following the Run Less Run Faster training plans. They’re hard, but satisfying.

10×400 tonight!

Reply

I heart chia seeds! :) I have not heard of Daily Mile, but sounds really interesting. I use the Nike App and really like it, but I am going to start running again this month so I might check that out!
Have a great night!

Reply

You’re already at least one step ahead of me when it comes to friends… I haven’t joined Daily Mile. I just got my Garmin for Christmas, so we’re talking baby steps.

I love flax and hemp when it comes to getting in my fats!

Reply

I added you! I like Dailymile as a run tracker; my memory is so bad that if I didn’t use some program I wouldn’t know if I was running 30 mile weeks or 80. you can also track your “gear” to keep up with shoe mileage, but I am too lazy for that!

Reply

Just friend requested you on daily mile! You’ll have 200 friends by midnight…
I just joined too- must be a New Years thing?

Reply

i don’t have a daily mile account so by now i’m sure u have more friends than me!!

oh my gosh, my roomies make fun of my gossip girl addiction when i blare it while working out too! hey, gotta have my fix of scandals and cat fights while i’m sweating, right? ;)

favorite source of fats is all about the seafood and eggs for me. :)

How do you track your workouts? My Fitness Pal or weightwatchers.com

How do you get your FATS in? Do you use chia seeds? Love the Chia!!!

What is your favorite part about your Monday? Last day of christmas vacation for the kidlets :)

I should probably look into chia seeds since I think I’m the only one who hasn’t tried them yet! I JUST joined Daily Mile today (while at the gym actually) to track my mileage – I added you as a friend! (I think- I’m not sure I’m doing it right just yet!)

Reply

i use dailymile and just friended you. you are one step closer to becoming BFFs ;) i didnt satart keeping good track of my miles until around august so now i want to keep full track of my miles in 2012 and run at least 2012 miles this year…unoriginal, maybe, but a goal none the less

Reply

I keep track of stuff in my written log and on runnersworld. I looove eggs. Yum. My favorite thing about Mondays… usually nothing because it’s my long day but I had today off!

Reply

DailyMile – yep! Friended you up, looks like you’ve got plenty o’ friends now!
Fats = eggs, fish oil supplement, chia seeds
Fave part of Monday = swimming with my honey then with the kiddles!
Hope you survive the first few days back to school!!

Reply

I love daily mile! I used it regularly for a while, but then I got injured and it started depressing me to use it. I will get back to it though, I am determined!!

Reply

I joined daily mile but didn’t ever update it. I can only keep up w/ so many sites. :) Just have your mom buy the avacados. :)

Reply

I love how it is *still* Jan 2nd and your plea for besties on Daily Mile is like, maybe 12 hours old??? Zero to 173+ in less than a day. Pure. Awesomeness. Of course, I only read your blog because I have never before known a girl who could eat her weight in broccoli and go back for another helping….just kidding. Kidding about that being the only reason, that is. We all know not to leave a veggie plate unattended around you! We all love you Janae, and I’m so looking forward to watching your miles add up and inspire others!!

Reply

I’ve used Daily Mile for a couple years now, and I really like it.

Reply

I have zero friends on daily mile, too. So, if you add me you’ll be my one and only. Maybe I’ll make my bf add me, too :) Honestly, I didn’t even know there was a friend option until I read your post!! But, I do love the DM. I just sent my BF a really dorky email about all my stats from last quarter including how many donuts I’ve burned (ahem, 21).

Reply

I’ve never heard of daily mile. Is it on your computer or phone??? Do you have to pay?

I want in!

Reply

I just updated my Daily Mile account after a break from the summer (same could be said about my running), I use it with Run Keeper. I just added you – I’m friendless too!

Reply

I track myself on the Garmin website and I love it!
Avacados and eggs are my favorite healthy fats. The problem is that I could eat 2 whole avacados at a time.
Best part of my Monday – slept in until 8:45, made it to the gym by 9:15 (stupid treadmills were all full so I only got 2 mile in before my class) and did a full hour of core work. Just a great day overall!

Reply

I love chia seeds! I use them in my oats and in some baking recipes. Favorite part of my Monday was a quick outdoor run after a long day inside at work. Love ya, J!

Reply

I just jumped on the Daily Mile bandwagon! Now I just have to figure out how to add friends…
I’ve never heard of Chia seeds as a fat source…I am a big fan of nuts for my healthy fats.
My favorite part of my Monday was my husband being home…I didn’t have to get up and run before the kids were up for school!

Reply

oh hayyyyy I’m on daily mile too! I’ll go friend you now yay!

I’ve only used chia seeds once…I think I put them on my cereal too! I underestimated them though and put like half a cup…I felt pretty sick after that hah. They were good though, so maybe a little goes a long way in this case :-D

Reply

I just signed up too!! I added you just now yay!
I lovee chia seeds. I get my fats from olive oil and nut butter too :)

Reply

I used to write my workouts in a workout log, but I started using Garminconnect after I got a Garmin for Christmas. I love chia seeds in my smoothies! Avocados are so good too, but yes they are expensive! Best part about my Monday was that my husband didn’t have to work and I got to do a non-jogging stroller 11 mile run. :)

Reply

I use dailymile and garmin connect :) I love the support from DM though. It’s like facebook for runners/fitness enthusiasts. It allows you to share your love of an active lifestyle without looking like a douche.

Reply

My healthy fats are abundant – nut butters, nuts, coconut oil, eggs, avocados, and lots of chia seeds!

Slept in a tiny bit (like 7:30), working out, teaching zumba, a FULL abs class tonight, and hanging out with my awesome nieces and cousins today.

I hope your first day back at work is GREAT!!!

Reply

All about chias and flax! Take your cereal for lunch streak to the next level and use a Smoothie as your base (instead of milk) and add chias to thicken the Smoothie! Best part of my Monday was dinner with a few girl friends- clearly I’m still clinging onto the holidays!

Reply

sheesh, I’ve been on DM for a year and have exactly 2 friends…not even one day and you’re over 200. lucky girl!

Reply

I’m sort of intimidated by daily mile- my pace is definitely not fast and I think it would be a downer to be reminded of it.

Love Gossip Girl so much for running. And Glee!

Reply

This is really weird b/c just earlier today I was thinking (randomly while driving) “I wonder if any of the “famous” bloggers have daily mile?” and then here you go signing up and blogging about it. Freaky. And yes, I would be referring to you when I am saying “famous”. Deal with it. :)

Reply

We have a grocery store here in northern cali called Save Mart, (owned by Albertsons, I think) and this week avocados are on sale for 47 cents each!!!!! Needless to say, I wanted to buy about 30, but the hubs is much more rational that I am, and we got 10 instead. :)))))

Reply

My monday was wonderful bc i spent the entire day with my dad, and ended it watching the bachelor and food network!

Reply

I am on Daily Mile and only have two friends! lol find me! bjeanne18 (http://www.dailymile.com/people/bjeanne18#ref=tophd)

Are the Chia seeds totally worth it? they were SO expensive when I saw them at Whole Foods..

My favorite part about my Monday was that I HAD YESTERDAY OFF FROM WORK WOOHOO! was back to it bright and early 6:30am this morning though.. and it was 25 degrees outside! Brr!!!

Reply

I just joined daily mile today and added you:)!!! I need friends too!

Reply

I also finally joined DailyMile – my goal this year is to be a faster and better runner, so I could use the motivation. I will be your friend (but you already seem pretty popular on there!).

Reply

I’m on DM! :)

I get a lot of fat from nuts.

Reply

I just signed up for daily mile also and i don’t have any friends!! : (

Everyone please add me! It would be a great way to stay accountable!!

Sometimes when i eat something unhealthy i kind of manipulate the situation by saying that it’s ok to eat everything in MODERATION ;-) …life is too short to limit yourself!
