Emergency Stash and Why I Run At Home

Reason #1 that I absolutely love running at home:

I roll out of bed, brush my teeth and run.  I don’t have to worry about the random birds nest on my head or the mascara that is smeared all over my face.  PS this is also random…I am loving running in t-shirts.  I don’t know why but they are so soft and comfortable.

Reason #2 I love running at home: My Burt’s Bees has a permanent home. I have threatened Billy that if he moves it there will be consequences. I might have applied chapstick 4 times during my run this morning.   In case I run out of that beautiful yellow tube there is an emergency stash hidden behind one of the loose bricks in my wall.

Something that saves me 2:31 each morning is the fact that my school offers chocolate milk.  At home we just stir in Hershey’s syrup into our milk because it is cheaper that way. I usually end up spilling and it takes forever to clean up etc. but on school days I just get one of these cartons.  Drinking it with a straw is even better.

I started watching the premiere of Biggest Loser this morning and I am so excited.  The theme this season is NO MORE EXCUSES.  I think this is the best theme ever.  At the beginning the contestants told what their biggest excuses have been over the years as to why they didn’t work out or eat healthy.  They were all very common excuses but I love that the show is trying to prove to people that those excuses aren’t going to fly.

My Most Common Excuses and Responses:

1.  I am tired.  Answer:  I will have so much more energy the rest of the day if I get my sweat on.

2.  My bed is so warm.  Answer:  My body will be warm once I start moving for a few minutes.

3.  I don’t want to have to shower.  Answer:  Then don’t.

———————————————-

I don’t know why my brain is all over the place and I am just typing whatever I am thinking but last night I had a dream that we had one of those jumping snakes in our backyard and he was incredibly fast.  He chased me for at least an hour.  I made Billy walk me out to my car this morning and I wore the tallest boots I could find in order to lower my chances of getting bitten.

Have you had any weird dreams lately?  Tell me about it.

What are some of your common excuses for skipping a workout?  What are your answers to those excuses?

What is your favorite speed to go on the treadmill? Or do you avoid the treadmill at all costs?

i also love running on my treadmill at home so i can look like a crazy person with make up all over my face, my hair in a big mess, and mismatched clothes. ;) my favorite speed to run on the treadmill is probably 6.5 mph – not too fast, not too slow.

i am loving the answers to your most common excuses! haha. i would honestly say my top three excuses are pretty much the same as your’s.

This morning, “the bed is warm” totally won! For both me and Tom haha
It’s these cold winters in Montana that get me!

Loving the new season of BL! NO EXCUSES. It’s perfect. Thinking about it, Allison, Dolvett and Bob have got to be exhausted. They literally just finished the last season! They are incredible!

I had a dream last week that I got bit by a spider. eeeeewwwwwwwwwwww

I have had some WIERD dreams lately. Want to have weird dreams? Eat peanut butter before bed, I swear you’ll have the craziest dreams.
My excuse: I lost all of my muscle from getting surgery and completely eating no food with fat in it. Now, my knee is taking twice as long to heal because it doesn’t have muscle to hold it together (I think) so I can’t exercise until I gain weight. Answer: Go eat a gallon of ice cream and a ghiradelli brownie. If only it were that easy…

My favorite speed is 6.5. Perfection.

PS. I look like that when I DO go to the gym in the morning haha. Rats nest on my head, yes please!

I love running on the TM at home too!! Gotta love the ease and mascara-less workout :)

I too love drinking choc milk–soooo tasty!

Excuses : I feel headachy…..so SO lame. hah

Oh I’d love a treadmill in my house.. but my house = the second story of a multi family home – which = the people below me probably very angry. So for now I’ll go to the gym – which takes me boocoodles of time to get ready for because being from the south and also being crazy vain and the small fact that my face looks like a 12 year old boy going through puberty.. i have to have foundation/powder something to cover up this mug and look slightly presentable. But I definitely hardly every brush my hair…

Crazy dream = I had a dream that I got shot and died! I wrote about it on my blog here:http://ourinterestinglyboringlife.blogspot.com/2011/12/week-ago-yesterday.html – but pretty much I got shot in the back of the neck and could feel myself choking and praying to die quickly and for no pain… crazy nuts! and kind of scary!! Usually my nightmares involve snakes and waking up the hubs to turn on the lights and make sure there really isn’t one hiding in our room!! This was a new one though…

PS pinkberry FINALLY opened up in our downtown and I so cannot wait to get my froyo on! despite temps in the teens!!

I love biggest Loser! I record it so I can skip all the boring commercials. I too love to run at home in my mismatched outfits and crazy face lol

haven’t been on a treadmill since like…June. I always run outside now.
my common mistake: it’s too cold. I’m waiting for the sun to come out, (insert: I get sucked into reading blogs for 2 hours) then my excuse changes to “it’s too bright/ or warm” haha.
my answer to that now is to lay out my workout clothes the night before and layer if it’s cold.
and this morning my answer was to bake donuts, so that I would have something to run home to! ;)

meant to say my common excuse*

Reply

I always have crazy dreams but they are crazier when I’m pregnant. I usually set the speed in the treadmill around 6.5 and enjoy running on it at home so that I can run inside when it’s freezing out or 100 degrees.

Reply

Ah! I wish I had a treadmill in our apartment. I would save so much time and get to run at the wee hours of the morning when it’s not especially safe to be a girl running on the dark streets of New York. *sigh* Guess I’ll have to wait til I’m rich and have a gym in my building…

Reply

I hope I love the contestants on BL this season. Last season I didn’t connect with any of them and got kind of bored.
I love the treadmill. I usually do all of my mid-week runs on a treadmill. I was proud of myself for going outside for my 8 mile long run today.
My excuse is usually I’m too tired. My answer – I can take a nap afterwards. Half the time I don’t end up needing one but if I am still exhausted I take a nap.

Reply

I do like running on my treadmill on cold, dark mornings during the winter. I can run in a sports bra, shorts, and a rat’s nest on my head. If I ran outside, it would take 30 minutes just to put on all my gear for the cold!

Hi Janae,
Still a regular follower from afar (yet oh so quiet ;-) I am looking for a treadmill to be able to run at home…I am a treadmill moocher these days as my body can’t handle the present arctic sub-freeze we are having in Ontario, Canada past while! What kind of a treadmill do you have? I need one for my giraffe long legs & for good speed sesh too. Thank you so much for any thoughts!!

Reply

I have the same excuses and responses!
I’m so bummed we don’t have our treadmill anymore. :( In the winter, I prefer running indoors (TV! WEARING WHATEVER I WANT!). so I’m jealous of your treadmill setup.

Reply

Hahaha I love No. 3 the other day my husband asked me if I showered after my 6..5 miles. Nope. And I didn’t feel bad about it.

Reply

Haha I love the comment about showering. Honestly, when I wasn’t married, if I worked out at night, I would just go to bed without showering and shower in the morning. But now that I’m married, I feel obligated to shower in the evening after working out. Not going to lie … I secretly enjoy the weeks when Brandon is traveling for work, so that I can just jump in my PJ’s after a workout! ;)

Reply

I’m in love with my treadmill and I don’t care who knows it. :) 7 is my favorite speed but I challenge myself and will switch of with at least 7.5. The number one thing that squashes my excuses for getting up to workout is that i’ll feel great all day and won’t have to work out after work. Watching BL tonight!

Reply

I schedule my workouts around when I need to wash my hair. I won’t workout if I just washed it bc I don’t want the sweat to get it dirty. Since I only wash it every other day this is my most common excuse. Priorities!

I am so jealous that you have a treadmill in your house. I have one in my apt. building but it’s just not the same!

Reply

Usually my dreams involve the cast of my favorite shows and I am like one of the gang – whether it’s ‘Community’ ’30 Rock’ or the like…sad, no? Apparently I need more real friends, or something. lol.

Usually, when my alarm goes off my excuse is that I am tired and want more sleep. But I tell myself that the day is only going to get more crazy and it is going to be hard to get it done later, so suck it up and get it done now. I have never regretted going to the gym in the morning, but I have definitely felt the regret when I don’t!

My favortie speed on the treadmill is 7.8. Could I be more particular?! But it is not fast and not slow. Just right for an easy run.

I had a crazy dream 2 days before we had to go back to school. I dreamed that I was tutoring after school and when I walked him out to meet his mom I saw all the teachers meeting for a faculty meeting. When I came back from dropping the kid off to his parent I saw they were all leaving the meeting so I snuck in and got the minutes from the meeting. IT WAS ALL ABOUT ME! They were saying how I drive to gas stations that are cheaper and how annoying it was. I woke up crying about it all. I had to keep telling myself that it was just a dream forever and that I am not really mad at the teachers!

Reply

I am so jealous you can run at home! I have to walk a half mile to the gym, which is not fun during winter in Chicago! My favorite speed is 6.7 because it’s just under a 9 min mile and it’s always my lower speed on interval runs!

Reply

Janae tonight’s post had me giggling out loud. “there will be consequences”…. you are too funny.

My favorite speed is 5.8, and if you are now giggling ……well that’s ok…..the slow plod is where my running love affair is at. :)

When I think this is not the optimal time to run, or I”ll be more tired then, I want to run now………i remind myself that that is the mind creating the problem and having the issue……the body is good to go at any moment.

Reply

I totally agree with you about Biggest Loser. It’s going to be an amazing season this year! I wasn’t in agreeance with the first guy that went home, because he wanted to go home…but it seemed to work for him, it was actually better for him to be with his family as a support system. Looking forward to an amazing season!

Reply

I LOVE running in cotton t-shirts! Everyone says I’m crazy when I’m in them during the summer but really, it holds the sweat and keeps me cool! LOL!

Reply

I noticed you have a Norditrak- to you use iFit? I didn’t buy it but am interested. Thanks!

My fave treadmill speed is 6.0 I feel like I go could forever on that speed. I am trying to train myself to feel that way about 7.0 but it is taking a lot of work.

PS I laughed so hard, when you wrote “then don’t” after I don’t want to shower. I am about to watch Biggest Loser on Hulu, so much better than regular TV, too many commercials.

Reply

I’m loving riding my trainer at home…makes me want to get a treadmill so I wouldn’t have to hit the gym. Have you liked your Nordic track? Where’s the best place to get one?

Reply

O0O0O0O0O0….snake dreams!!! Scary!! I’ve been talking about dreams a lot lately! I actually just wrote about it yesterday!

Favorite treadmill pace…ummm…yeah, 5.7, a nice jog for me.

My most common excuse is I feel bad for leaving the puppies at home or need to cook instead. But now that I have my spin bike I’ve been skipping that exucse!

Reply

It’s been a really long time since I’ve been on the treadmill, but I love running really fast on it!

Reply

My most common excuse is, I have too much other stuff to do, followed quickly with “Plus, I’m sooo tired”. Of course, when I don’t run I always feel even more stressed and sluggish. A vicious cycle.

And treadmills, not my thing. I feel like everything is so much harder, and a mile is so much longer. I’m more a “run in the middle of the road” type person.

Reply

I have been having horrible dreams! I honestly like to run in just my sports bra and running shorts..but of course it is a scary thing for anyone to see, so I cover up the windows when I do this on the dreadmill

Reply

I LOVE excuse #3.. “3. I don’t want to have to shower. Answer: Then don’t.” Hilarious! I never feel like showering in the winter because it makes me cold afterwards! I’m glad someone else understands. :-D

Reply

Ahhhh!!! So weird, I had a scary snake dream last night too. I don’t remember ever dreaming about snakes before, and I hope I don’t have another one!! Awful.

My biggest excuse is feeling tired after I get home from work. It’s lame because every time I make it to the gym, I feel fab afterwards. And every time I skip, I feel lame and even more tired. No more excuses!!! :)

Reply

I have CRAZY dreams all the time. When I tell them to Daniel, he always asks me if I took some sort of medication haha. Last night I dreamed about my family and my students and we were on some snorkeling/diving trip and had to dive under this boat…the other night I dreamed about being chased by an animal (it was a bull, but in my dream I kept insisting it was a mammoth lol). Craziness.

The early morning workouts are easiest to skip during the winter, but I always convince myself that I would much rather be finished before 7 a.m. than have to do it at 9 p.m. after work. :)

Reply

ALL of my dreams are weird. We will just leave it at that.
Excuses are usually that something hurts. But I am about 99% good that I do something 6 days a week. It might not always be what is on the training plan. But it is something.
My New Years resolution is to run outside more/less treadmill running.
This might be next on my list, after the AZ Half in Feb. Check it out!

Well I’ve learned that after work a 9 plus hour day I don’t want to come home and workout, it’s what made me lose my motivation to run the last few months. So this time I’m trying to wake up early before work and run. I used to do it all the time and loved it then switched to nights at my previous job it was easy. But not at this job. This morning I was just to tired and so warm, but I made myself get up and my bf and I headed to the gym together. I felt so much more awesome the whole day.
Love Biggest Loser. I was thinking I need to some how contact Dolvett and ask him to record me a personal wake up message that I can set as my alarm… great idea huh. You should help me contact him! :)

Weird dream that I had last night actually really freaked me out and made want to stay in bed and snuggle with my doggie.
So I walked into a room and it looked like my dog Dash (black chihuahua) was walking in thin air, as I got closer I noticed he was walking a a HUGE spider web! I started freaking out cause he then got stuck in the web and I was trying to yank him out cause the HUGE spider was crawling towards him and it had a big mouth with teeth and bit his leg! I finally freed him and actually woke up after this. I have such a huge phobia of spiders it freaked me out haha.

Ok well now i’m writing a novel so really quick I dont’ have a fav speed I do like to do speed work on the mill tho :)

I had a weird dream about working for a diplomat found some information I was not suppose to, then accidentally overheard he was going to kill me. I then tried to figure out how to get out of the second story of his place to make my escape.

Exuses: tired, busy, too cozy inside to run outside or go to the gym, and of course showering….guys dont know how easy they have it!!

Treadmil at home: im jealous but i also feel like my motivation may not be as good as it is when i am outside or at the gym.

Fav speed: 5.7-6.2 depedending but i do try to push myself. Never above 8.0 though because i have fallen off…oops!

Crazy Dreams: all. The. Time.

Bl: love the new season!!! Hoping its better and holds my attn. better than the last one

Reply

how funny that you posted about treadmills because a few hours ago i sent you a questions on your “contact me with questions” thing about what kind of treadmill you have? can’t decide if it’s worth it for me to get one or not…. decisions, decisions….. have a great day!
i have about 25 dreams a night because i start a new dream every time i have to get up to pee. annoying.

Reply

I missed BL last night, need to catch up! So true that running will give you more energy for the rest of the day. The days that I don’t get to workout until the afternoon/evening, I feel so much more sluggish until that point. I haven’t been on a treadmill lately, but usually stick around an 8:30-9min pace on there, if I get bored I mix in some speed, too.

Reply

having my fitness equipment in the house is a GODSEND!!! i love it!! haha…love the thing about not showering. :)

the lamest excuse i’ve heard is that a neighbor told me that he got red, itchy spots whenever he worked, like he was allergic to it. seriously? find some itch cream and move ur lazy bum! :)

Reply

I have crazy dreams a lot, but can’t recall any…always forget them! I know certain foods make them crazier though (popcorn!).
I think 7.2 is my favorite. not too fast not too slow, and I can do it for a good while.

Reply

There is such a thing as jumping snakes? I hope they don’t live in Washington!

Reply

Love your answer to excuse 3!!! I teach aerobic classes at 5am so I can’t have an excuse for not getting up–40+ ppl are relying on me!
I despise running on the treadmill. I only run outside. I do power walk at 15 incline and 4.5 speed 30-60 min a day (my warm up before class)!
I had a nightmare today…Xmas break ended and I was back teaching 150 seniors…oh wait that was reality. Ahhh sad!!

Reply

Im trying to not have too many excuses, being the new year and all. Since the gym is pretty crowded this time of year I said I’d spend at least 30 minutes doing “something” (treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike) so I can’t use the excuse that one machine is being used and I can’t go to the gym that day. Fingers crossed that it works!

Reply

Hahaha love the not showering one. I sooo wish I could run at home! Pure bliss right there.
I always have the craziest dreams but can’t always remember them!
I usually don’t need to make excuses to workout, but if I’m feeling unmotivated I just think about how much better I’ll feel afterwards.
I like switching speeds on the treadmill or else I get SO bored!

Reply

Ugh, so many excuses!!! Usually just that I’m too tired or that it’s my turn to get up with the kids, and there goes my morning! Usually doesn’t happen if its not in the morning. I guess I could always run at night, but who wants to do that;-)
I always have strange dreams, and can NEVER remember them. But would probably wake up screaming if they were about snakes. freaky.
My go to treadmill pace is probably 8.6, with a little incline. Gives me a decent workout:)

Reply

I love the honesty in the not showering department! All you really need is some body spray and a little dry shampoo:)

Reply

1. I had a terribly, terribly weird and disturbing dream last night. I would share details with you, but A- it involved a prisoner, and I don’t like that AT ALL, and B- it may or may not have been inappropriate. Yikes. Let us never speak of this again.

2. Our excuses are the same. Tired. That is ALWAYS my excuse. Unfortunately for me, running doesn’t give me energy throughout the day. I just end up more tired. Why is this????

3. Snakes are scary.

Reply

I think my favourite speed is 6.0… Just getting back into running regularly, this is a perfect speed for right now! I use to love 6.5… I’ll get back to that speed soon!

My classic excuse is usually always: ‘I’m tired.’ Bad yes. Blah.

I had a totally messed up dream last night. First I was at a spa for my friends birthday… but all I could think about was how I needed to get home, and of course everything was going in slow motion and taking forever! Then… I was trying to pack and plan a trip across the ocean… For my ex-boyfriend and I. Totally random! We’ve been broken up for over 8 years!! I seriously am still creeped out by it… Haha.

Reply

I love the outdoors, so no treadmill for me.

I alway make excuses for other exersices, but not for running. I’m trying to get back into skipping (rope jumping) but have only done it once this year!!!

Reply

I would LOVE to have a treadmill at home and I ALWAYS have some sort of lippy (thats my name for it) within reach. Since I am a beginner, I am a SLOW POKE…like seriously I’ve seen people walking on the TM faster than I run. But I’m a newbie and it will get better in time. I dream of running as fast as you!!

Reply

I was SO cozy in my bed this morning and made every excuse under the sun including “Rest is best for my shins”…the better side of my brain told me to suck it up, cross-training is fine for shin splints..and unsurprisingly I felt a thousand times better!

I run at the gym, despite looking like a hot mess…I literally roll out of bed, brush my teeth, put some shorts on, sports bra (I recycle the tshirt I slept in ) and then hit the road (Jack)! Btw interesting about the chapstick, I haven’t found that my lips dry up during a run!

Reply

I’m loving 7.6!! My excuse is usually that I’m sore. Or tired. And COLD. In the mornings. That’s definitely up there!

Reply

Hahahaha you’re my fave. STOP you look a lot better than my sorry butt in the morning!

Reply

I’m impressed by all the running you do on the treadmill! I go crazy 1/2 mile in. Just curious, how many miles do you usually run per day? What’s the longest treadmill run you’ve done? Have your race times accurately reflected what you were expecting based on your treadmill times/paces?

Reply

I can’t wait to someday have a place big enough for a treadmill and/or spin bike. Hearing your reasons why you love it only makes me more excited for it someday! I like going to the gym for various classes, and other machines, but I also love being able to get my workout done at home. :)

Reply

I agree with you on the Burt’s Bees! chapstick is kind of a necessity during a workout. My lips get super chapped outside in the winter…I’ve been known to stick some burts bees in my gloves to take on outside runs…

I avoid the treadmill at all costs. I only run on it at Physical Therapy, and I hate it – I feel like it causes more aches and pains than being injured does! Actually i was having so much trouble with it that my therapist is letting me run outside today – she’s driving me to the trail and then back to the therapy center once I’m done hahaha. I used to run on it occasionally in college though, and I was a fan of 8.5!

And biggest loser!! I still haven’t gotten to catch up on the premier (maybe tonight while I’m painting my nails and eating ice cream), but no excuses is so great!! I think my biggest one is “I’m tired” haha. But usually when I reaaaaally don’t want to work out, it’s because I actually am tired and need a rest day.

Reply

I am a treadmill fan.

Reply

I watched the first episode of The Biggest Loser as well! I am rooting for that Santa guy. He seems sweet.

My biggest excuse is that I have a toddler who doesn’t like it when mommy works out, so I just wait and do it during his nap time.

Reply

I like how you have a secret cubby behind a brick and you stash chapstick in it. lol

My favorite speed on the TM is between 7 and 7.5. I love my treadmill.

Usually my excuse is that I can do it later. I just have to make sure I actually do run later.

Reply

Janae, I would KILL to own a treadmill. you lucky little devil, you. my favorite speed is probably 8.0… on a GOOD day, my natural gait. on a rough day, I’ll play with the 7.5ish :)

Reply

My favorite speed is 11.5 for mile-pace intervals! But I usually do them on a track.. it’s nice to have the treadmill set the pace for me.

I hate doing easy runs on the treadmill. It’s incredibly boring to me to run at the same pace on that thing. I invented a version of ‘treadmill striders’ (20 seconds at the highest speed) to avoid boredom, but I need to find some other method of coping with recovery runs… I do like the treadmill, I just don’t like maintaining the same exact pace for more than 20 minutes.

Reply

11.5….you are my hero!!! DANG…teach me your speed!

Reply

Teach me your endurance! I am a middle-distance runner (800m/mile) so I just do a lot of speedwork, 200-800m repeats and so forth. If I ran a marathon, though, I would be lucky to break 3:15 (my half PR is 1:30).

You seem to have great natural speed, actually, and I’m curious as to how you’d do in shorter races like a 5k… do you ever run those or is it all or nothing? A coach I know says that some 5k training for marathoners can work wonders for marathoning, and I know a friend who finally broke 3:00 this fall by using his spring to train for an 18:40 5k.

Reply

What are your PR’s?! I bet after a few you could easily get your marathon and half times way way low. Funny you ask about the shorter races because that is actually my goal for this year. I will be focusing on the 10k and half. I know I should do the 5k too but it scares me to death…any advice?

Reply

The 5k is pretty brutal. My race PR is 19:49, pretty far off my tempo run PR (18:32), which goes to show you that I don’t really have a place giving race advice! The main thing about the 5k is it’s like the last 5k of a half marathon, I guess. It hurts pretty much throughout. My mile PR is 5:38 but should fall this indoor season.

What I’ve noticed is you don’t do a ton of formal speedwork, like Jack Daniels VO2max pace intervals. Have you read Daniels Running Formula? It’s pretty solid in terms of advice over every distance and it’s the plan I use for everything. I bet if you did even a little interval work you’d be insanely fast.

Reply

Your response to #3 is spot on.

Reply

Some excuses I have used: I deserve a day off, I will run after school, my leg feels weird (never sore or hurt), I’m too tired, I want to call my mom.

Excuse busters: I will just walk instead of run on a treadmill, I KNOW I NEVER run after school, just walk/stretch, you’re up anyways, and I’ll call Mom at lunchtime.

Reply

Well I wasn’t go to tell anyone this, but since you asked… I had a dream two nights ago that I was sold into prostitution. Since that’s a possibility… LOL…about as likely as a jumping snake in Utah. :)
My workout excuse is usually time. So I force myself to run for the amount of time I have– even if it is 15 minutes.
Favorite TM speed is 6.0. Which could be why the rest of you people have faster PR’s than me… ;)

Reply

BAHAHAHA Oh my goodness…your dream made me laugh so hard! Hopefully dreams don’t come true! Whatever, you are an awesome runner!

Reply

ahh i’ve been having crazy dreams lately too! 2 nights ago it was that ryan was driving crazy and running us off the road…last night i was babysitting and got attacked by a dog, then later in the dream i was with a bunch of Glee characters. NUTS!

Reply

A few weeks ago I was having strange dreams every night. It was so insane and annoying. I can’t remember very many of them, though one was that my friend’s newborn hated me, and could already talked, and was a girl, not a boy.

My common excuses: I have no energy, my knee kinda of hurts, headache, I ate too much, I ate too little…

And I haven’t run on a treadmill in forever, my when I consistently did run one one I ran 7-7.5 mph. I’ve slowed down since then =( and I haven’t run since about December 21, when my knee really started to hurt.

Reply

I am honestly trying to get away from the excuses and get back to running First race is February 25th. It will be a 4 miler. The first, other than a 5k for me. Working toward a 10k and then a half this year. I love your treadmill. NICE!!! Can I come run? I don’t think I would mind running at home if my treadmill wasn’t so old. LOVE chocolate milk. Tru Moo is the best.

Reply

Im also a bit obsessed with working out at home. I love not having to see ANYONE and I get to have all my little trinkets and distractions on the caddy area. I also have the remote to myself which is the only time in my life I get to pick the channel because my husband loves sports and golf.

Random or not, it’s a great post!
I had the craziest dream that I was being chased by the mob! Crazy! When I woke up I felt like complete crap and remembered EVERY detail. Whew!
I love running on a treadmill, but have had to resort to using the local track.

The most common excuse is just being plain ole tired. An excuse that I would love to use every day. :) It’s a choice to get up and work my booty off!

Reply

My go-to treadmill speed has usually been 6.5, but i’ve gone up to about 7.3 as my long run pace. I get so excited when I break 8.0 but i can’t do it very long!

I’m curious…what’s YOUR go to speed Janae??? I’m sure it’s crazy fast you speed demon!

Reply

Most common excuse is “I could use a rest day” but this weeks excuse is “sick and I now have a puppy who needs attention 24/7” ;P

OH and my response to excuse 1: enjoy my day doing whatever the heck I want other than working out; and for excuse 2: he’s just too cute to leave [ex: he is laying on my belly and licking my hand right now as I type]!

I try not to give in to the little voices that tell me to skip a workout. I tell myself I will feel better and keep my sanity if I go. I don’t like the TM, but I think I run around 6.2.

Last night I had a dream I was married to Steve Carell. No, I am not kidding. I’ve obviously been watching too much of The Office and Crazy Stupid Love. :)

Excuses – too tired and too cozy have been culprits lately. It’s been cold here in Florida this week, I haven’t wanted to get out of bed. Thankfully it’s a taper week, so I really didn’t have to get out of bed. :)

Today I dreamt I was an orphan being tortured by the lady in charge of the orphanage… Crazy.
