Tips for a buffet and watching our team lose.

Every now and then I really shine in being a good wife.  Take last night for example, I went with Billy to a BYU basketball game.  Okay, okay I actually really enjoyed the game but that was mainly because I got to watch the awesome professional jump rope kids and the cake eating contest during half time.  The smell of candied almonds in the air could have helped me to enjoy my experience even more.

We were actually sitting in the area of the other team’s fans and so it was quite confusing when I should cheer (I usually just clap when everyone around me does).  BYU ended up losing, we need Jimmer back.

The game got out after nine and we were all starving.  Lucky for us, I am that person that signs up to get all of the texts from restaurants nearby about the specials that they are having.  Our favorite pizza buffet after 9 pm was only $5.

My tips for the Pizza Pie Buffet:

1. Start with a salad because it is delicious and have ranch on one half and raspberry vinaigrette on the other side…in a weird way it actually tastes really good when they mix.  I think I kind of like peas.

2.  For the pasta, try three different sauces at once.  Load up mainly on the marinara because that is the most delicious and cheese bread makes an excellent sponge for extra sauce.

IMG 0205

3.  Pizza.  This is the most important part of the evening.  Another cheese stick, chicken alfredo and bbq chicken are absolute musts.

4.  Go with a group of friends that are hilarious and make you laugh the entire time and probably wonder why in the world you are taking pictures of your food and requesting a group photo.  One of my favorite things is to hang out in the restaurant and talk for as long as they let you before kicking you out.  Sorry Billy that half of your face is cut off, I will just add double the pictures of you in the next post.

I think it was quite a successful day…..sleeping in until 11, running, bball and dinner…..truly the lifestyle of a responsible adult.

What and where was the last sports game that you went to?

On a scale of 1-10 (1=not so relaxing and 10=really relaxing) how relaxing is your Sunday going to be?

-10.  10.  10. 10. 10.  Which feels even better the day after a long run.

Does your body allow you to sleep in or do you wake up at your normal weekday wake-up time naturally?

-I can definitely sleep in!  (I write my posts the night before and set them to post early in the morning, I don’t actually get up this early:)

Are you a buffet lover or hater?

-Lover…the best are on cruises…..another question in my answer but have you ever been on a cruise?

What a fun day! I can’t sleep in. even if I didn’t have kids, I wake up early. I have plans for a relaxing day – but the weather looks nice and I might have to do a short run. tbd. love buffets. and I LOVE cruises. the most economical way to travel, in my opinion:-) Have a great day!!!

So great that you had a wonderful night! I haven’t been to a buffet in ages but I think we are going to one soon for a birthday dinner so I’ll have to see whether I love it or not. If there is self serve ice cream involved it will fall into the love category for sure :)
I had a 10/10 day for sure! Made Mum and Dad muffins for breakfast, went for a run, took a yoga class, got some fabric for sewing, wrote on the blog and watched Harry Potter. Yep, that’ll do it for an awesome end to the weekend :)

We have a mini-package to Carolina Hurricanes hockey so that is the last thing. Last weekend I think, or the weekend before.
Relax factor will be a 10 for most of the day, but then we are going out to dinner with 4 friends and their kids. So it may go downhill from there.
I can sleep in. But then again, I don’t really get up at a different time during the week.
In Vegas, I love buffets. Normally, HATE them.

Lets see …

1. I am in Vancouver to work in a tradeshow … so my Sunday on a scale of relaxation is in the negative department.
2. I would love to sleep in … but can’t that is why I was up at 3:30 AM west coast time … my body still thinks I am in the east coast … oh, and if my body for some odd reason did not want to wake up … Dante would definitely paw his way into keeping me on schedule!
3. HATE buffets, not really because I hate them, just because I eat too much and hate it that I have after … I think it something about getting my money’s worth :)

Off I go … have a great day … I see FroYo in my future!

Sounds like an awesome Saturday!

My day is going to be a 10 on the relaxing scale too. I can’t sleep in past 7 a.m. and I always start waking up at 5 a.m. Loooove buffets, especially when they have ice cream.

Enjoy your restful Sunday!!!

I love buffets..but I always overeat.

Went to a college b-ball game yesterday afternoon since Chris and my alma mater was in town.
Sleeping in……….not so much. Happens more in the winter though (one reason why this season has slowly become my favorite) because once its light…..I’m up.
Sunday relax factor = 7.5………..and could be up to a 9, if i could let go of this comment my mom made to me yesterday.

Last game I went to was a Blackhawks game…would have been way more fun if they won!

I WISH I could sleep in! In fact, for some reason lately I’ve been getting up EARLIER on weekends than I do on weekdays. I think it’s because I start to wake up and think about all the things I’m going to do. Oh well…I get a lot accomplished!

Reply

OMGosh my Sunday is not relaxing at all!

We are going to go see a PUPPY and if he likes me we are bringing him home!

I am so nervous lol!

And we haven’t bought anything so we have to stop at the pet supply store too!

Reply

AHHH LET ME KNOW IF YOU GET THE PUPPY…so so exciting!

what a fun Saturday!!
considering Sundays are somewhat of a “work day” for me (in the mornings), I would say it’ll be an 8… the rest of the day i will be in my sweats doing nothing, and it’ll be glorious. :)
my body rarely lets me sleep in anymore… i don’t mind though because i usually go to bed when my grandparents do every night anyways. ;)

Reply

I can definitely sleep in as well! Maybe it’s a teacher thing….I’m always EXHAUSTED once the week is over.

Great tips for eating at a buffet: I typically go salad, salad, FRUIT (missing the real stuff up here) and SOFT SERVE!

Reply

I know a girl who does raspberry vinaigrette and ranch.

And I’ve never been on a cruise =(

And I love all of the sauce.

Reply

Sounds like a great day! I can never sleep in, but I wish I could. Even on the weekends my body naturally wants to wake up at 6. No fun. I’m a buffet hater. I found a hair in my food at a Chinese buffet back in the day and I just can’t seem to go back. Haha.

Reply

Yesterday was my lazy day so I have to get my run in today :)

I cannot sleep in and even if I could, Tally can’t! It’s super annoying sometimes!

The light bulb just came on for me! Sometimes I’m able to read your morning weekday post while brushing my teeth or something (I’m too tired to know what I do in the morning), but I’m always like “How does she have time to post all this when she works out and gets ready in 8 minutes flat?!” Now I know your secret ;)

Weird question that I’ve been wondering since I’ve started following you, about 8 months ago: How do you pronounce your name? Haha I know it’s strange, but when I refer to something awesome you said or did (like running 14 miles yesterday), I say “Juh-nay” and my husband is always like “Are you sure that’s even how you say her name?” lol

Reply

That is how you pronounce my name…you are right on girl:) Oh yeah…I definitely post them the night before ha…mornings are way too rushed!

Reply

I went to the MU basketball game yesterday actually! I can’t sleep in but I did wake up at 9 this morning (late for me) and the sun was was full force! So, you better believe I will be spending 75% of my day outside! Wahoo!

Reply

Yay for sleeping in until 9 and I hope you have enjoyed the sunshine today!

Reply

I’m not normally a big buffet person, but I guess it depends on the quality of the buffet! We went to a wedding last night and they had a buffet dinner, and it was really good. Of course, I was also starving, so anything would have been good at that point! ;)

Have a great and relaxing Sunday!!

Just got back from my 7th cruise two weeks ago. Those buffets are killer…especially the chocolate buffet. So yummy…think chocolate fonde and chocolate sushi. I posted a few other things to do besides eat if you’re interested in cruising…

Can’t rate my Sunday yet. I am deciding if I want to hit up the Lululemon Warehouse Sale in Chicago. I hear the lines are brutal but the sales amazing. I’ll have to let you know!

Reply

Sunday was intense.

Lulu sale was amazing but tons of people, clothes, and lines. Well worth it though!

Cruise Queen right here!!! Ive been on so many that I actually am recruited to plan other people’s cruise vacays! So fun! I love salad buffets and my body does not let me sleep in on the wkends. Ugh.

How about Billy and I come on your next cruise!

um, i can’t remember lol! i do like to go to the WNBA games, they are a lot of fun and they are not as packed.
On a scale of 1-10 (1=not so relaxing and 10=really relaxing) how relaxing is your Sunday going to be?

pretty good i guess. just got my sister off to church early for practice, then we are headed in and going to birthday dinner tonight. so yes, pretty relaxing which is nice since yesterday was crazy!

Does your body allow you to sleep in or do you wake up at your normal weekday wake-up time naturally?

i can usually sleep in an hour later than normal but no more than that. what i love is just to lie in bed and not have to get up and get going. i would rather have time to do that in the morning than sleep.

Are you a buffet lover or hater?
i love buffets, but sometimes there are so many choices its hard to cover all the bases! plus, i feel like i never get enough food for the price i pay.

Reply

I had to laugh…”Does your body allow you to sleep in or does it wake up normal time?” Yes, my body would allow it, but the kids and the dog and the cat don’t. Don’t they understand the importance of a REST day?

I have a coupon for Pizza Pie (love the new name) Buffet, and I think you’ve inspired me to use it next week. Thanks for your help!

Do you need a friend to come with you:)

Reply

Buffet-lover right here! My Sunday will be about a 5–half relaxing, half not. I have to do some school work and run some errands, but I plan on making time for relaxation :)

Reply

Excellent tips! :)

Reply

Hahah love the tips! I am a buffet snob- the food has to be of high quality! I went to a brunch buffet in a hotel today and oh my word…fantastic (and stuffed) just about cover it! Of course multiple courses were consumed so it’s only naturally to leave your day open so you can truly savor the experience and stretch it out as long as possible! Jealous you are able to sleep in..I seem to naturally wake up at 7.30 every single morning, including today despite sleeping at 3 last night- uff!

Sounds fun!! The last sports event was a boys and girls varsity basketball games. My husband is OBSESSED with basketball and his friend coaches the girls team, so we went to watch him and his team play.

My Sunday = 8. I have to vacuum which is a major chore for me even though it only takes like 20 min. Its so loud!

I am a sleep in kinda person, but not much past 9. But in high school and college, I was all about 11 or 12 wake up calls. I am soaking it all in before we have little ones getting up at the crack of dawn wanting to watch cartoons.

Not big on buffets, except a killer salad bar! I don’t ever get my moneys worth, and I am a picky eater so usually there’s not much I want from a buffet. Well except a dessert buffet. I would face plant in all the cakes and cookies!

My Sunday is being spent at home watching the last hours of the Rolex 24 hour race in Daytona, my husband loves Grand-Am racing so I’ve been watching this since yesterday! I like buffets, but the chinese ones scare me a little.

Reply

I love buffets and have never been on a cruise. It is on my to do list! Sunday is for cleaning and swimming and church. Not necessarily in that order.

Reply

wellll my sunday didn’t start with relaxing cause i just ran my longest distance.. 9 MILES! thought of you most of it! sooo proud of myself! :-)

the rest of my day will consist of food right after my stomach settles down.. its a little nuts right now!

Reply

JEN!!! CONGRATS on your longest distance ever…you are a rockstar and I hope you are enjoying good food and lots of rest now!

Reply

You know what else is really good to mix with ranch dressing? Hot sauce! It makes it taste like a buffalo chicken salad!

I usually have a hard time sleeping in, but my schedule has been all whacked out working various shifts at the hospital, so I slept in until after ten today! That’s REALLY late for me. Guess I needed the sleep;

Reply

Um my relaxing scale is definitely 10 today too! A whole lotta nothin for me, I just love Sunday’s!
I like buffets because of the options and you can SEE everything and SEE what looks good!

Reply

I usually can’t sleep in but today I did! I think the long run yesterday caused this to happen and I love it! I have a confession to make, today will be a 10 on relaxation. Been watching Felicity episodes and Party of five on netflix. I plan to make some of those cookies with the candies in the middle that you posted last week…yummy!

GO BYU! :)
I always cheer for them, since I ‘know’ you now..and how much you love BYU!
Looks like a fun night- and I love that you always add the goldfish to your salads….gotta admit, now I do that too ;)
I cannot sleep in…no matter how hard I try, my body is just like GET UP!!! haha! MISSED YOU SO MUCH! Thank you for being so sweet! Enjoy your day!! Xo

Reply

My gorgeous friend. I adore you for cheering on BYU…we ARE real life friends!! Wish we could go to a salad bar together:) Hope you are having an incredible Sunday! LOVE YOU!

Reply

That pizza buffet looks awesome. I could really go something cheesy right now :)

I am a buffet lover! My fave time is go is when breakfast is turning into lunch, so you get the best of both worlds. Buffets really suit my personality- much like pick and mix candy bars :)

last sports game i went to? prob a uconn basketball game. i feel your pain w/ jimmer, im missing kemba walker from last season.

my sunday is 6. i have to work (make phone calls/interview patients) and im worried about tomorrow because its gonna be really stressful. ugh, my job needs to pay me way more than it does!!!!

Reply

10 – I just ran almost 11 miles faster than I ever have though….so I need to relax a LOT – hot baths and naps here I come…..chocolate may be needed too!

WAHOOOOO CONGRATS on your incredible run girl. Enjoy lots of chocolate!

Thanks Janae :)

Sleeping in on the weekend for me = 6 a.m. It still feels awesome because it’s an hour later than during the week!

Buffets? Have been to one in a long time. The best part is make your own sundae!

Reply

I can’t even remember the last sports game I went to!! My body usually wakes up at 7 am, so I usually get up then during the week and weekend!

Reply

I cruised last spring and loved it, we did western Caribbean and I owned the salad bar hahaha

AND last night actually we booked cruise number 2, I will be blogging all about this one. I can’t wait! We’re doing eastern Caribbean this time. I can’t wait to live the buffet life for a week and run on the track that goes round the top of the ship. Running at sea is awesome!

Last game was yesterday, a Little Dribblers BB game, my son plays. It is fun to watch, free and you always have a good seat!

10 for relaxing today. At church we had a special one service where the whole church meets instead of having two services, we then eat dinner on the grounds afterwards. That means no church activities tonight! We will probably go to the park and walk to stay loose after our long runs yesterday morning.

I wake up early every morning, I am a hard core morning person. If I sleep till 6, I have REALLY slept in.

I don’t like buffets, I always eat to much & I am weird in that it bugs me to touch serving spoons everyone else has touched! LOL

We went on a cruise for our honeymoon waaaaaaaaaaay back in 1993. We went on another cruise, oddly enough, just right before I found out I was pregnant with the boy in 1999 ;0
After he arrived, no more cruises!! :(

Reply

JIMMER is all mine now!!! hehe…I am interning with the sacramento kings basketball team…did you know him?! you and Billy should come to a basketball game here in California with me!!!
LOVE U!
xoxo!

love buffets especially if theres a salad bar and LOVE cruises!

up until 6 my sunday is a 10 for relaxing and then i have to go to work :(

i used to be terrible at sleeping in but now that i work nights i am always sleep deprived and can sleep in for sure!

Reply

This might sound weird but I love dipping my pizza crust in leftover balsamic dressing or any type of vinaigrette. Especially when the crust is super crunchy (my fav).

I wake up at the same time every single day, give or take 30 minutes. I think sleeping in went out the window after college. Sad but true.

My Sunday has been relaxing and just lovely. We went to church and then I went with my mom and sis to Whole Foods to shop and hit up lunch. They have the best bowl station and I got Chicken Teriyaki w/ brown rice and vegetables. It was awesome. Then came home and proceeded to sleep for 1.5 hrs. Loving these pregnancy naps! Have a great day!!

Adam & I watched that game last night. It got pretty heated a few times. Sorry your team lost. It looks like you made up for it with delicious food!
