Triple Tangent Tuesday

Wow…I haven’t done TTT for a long time. In case you are a new reader (actually I haven’t done this for months), Triple Tangent Tuesday is the day I share with you three random things that I am thinking about.   Let’s get started.

1. Remember how I asked you to guess what I had for dessert in my last post?

IMG 1362

My sister got a yonanas machine for Christmas (by the way mom, yes I am jealous and it is almost my birthday).  We opened it up last night, let me add we were very skeptical being the dessert/high sugar/high calorie lovers that we are, and all you do is add a frozen banana and whatever else you would like and boom….heaven.  Seriously, this will be a new nightly thing and being that froyo is 18% of our budget….we are saving a lot of money now.

IMG 1367

I have tried the whole frozen banana thing in a food processor and I swear the yonana’s machine made it creamier.

I added it to my GEAR PAGE just in case you want more details.

———————————————————-

2.  I have been spending a little more time on this:

IMG 1370

rather than my normal couch cushion sitting for hours and I am just a wee bit sore if you know what I mean.

——————————————————-

3.  My amazing friend, Pam, gave me an awesome gift basket full of goodies for Christmas that had a Nathan Hydration Belt in it.  I have never had one of these and I can’t wait to not be dehydrated on my next long run.   Chocolate milk in one bottle and water in the other.

IMG 1369

We both refuse to put that laundry away…I wonder how long it will be there for.

——————————————————–

Tell me a TANGENT about YOU!!!!

Do you have one of those hydration belt thingees? Do you carry an ID with you while running?

Where are you most sore right now?

I think my stomach muscles are the most sore from all the NY bagels I ate this weekend!!

I don’t have a hydration belt but I have camelbak and I love it!! I also ALWAYS carry an ID with me when I run. My big brother is an EMT in NYC and he would beat me up if I didn’t have ID and emergency phone numbers on me at all times! (I have the shoe ID so I never have to think about it!)

Reply

NY BAGELS….I am so so jealous, seriously those were the best bagels I have ever had. A camelbak, that is awesome, does it feel too heavy ever?

Reply

Not really! and no sloshing either. I was worried it would be to hot but I trained through the summer with it, no problems. And not to be TMI but I love that if I have to stop and use the bathroom I don’t have to fuss with it at all!

Reply

Yoganas? I just texted the hubsters and told him the minute he gets home from work we need to head to BB&B to get one of those!

I love you site, keeps me entertained everyday! Thanks for all the amusing posts!

Reply

KATE!!! I am so happy you are getting a Yonanana, you are going to love it. PLEASE let me know what you think of it! We added blackberries too and it was SO good. Enjoy! Thanks for your sweet comment, you made my day!

Reply

-guilty of not carrying an ID when I go running.
-I’ve been thinking about going to frozen yogurt since last night and then I see this yo-nanas pic on here. it’s a sign!
-hamstrings are very sore. they have been neglected.

Reply

Time to start carrying an ID:) I definitely think this is a sign that you need to go for froyo!!! I have been neglecting my hamstrings big time!

Reply

I’ve tried a hydration belt before but I can’t stand the way it feels. The Yonana machine looks amazing.
My shoulders are sore since I’ve been trying to work on pull-ups.

Reply

PULL-UPS!?!?! You are my hero…..I couldn’t do one if my life depended on it. I think you need a Yonana machine. Hope you are having an amazing day gorgeous girl!

Reply

Omg, how have I never heard of this Yonanas thing before?! Amazing!
I’m not a fan of hyrdation belts because I drink an obscene amount of liquid when running and need more than those things can carry. I’m a camelbak kinda gal ;)

Reply

I think you need one Gina:) I have never tried a camelbak…I might have to now!

Reply

My calves are sore! But I have my compression sleeves on right now and they are already feeling better ;)

Reply

Compression sleeves help BIG TIME!! Hope they get feeling better asap!

Reply

This last weekend I got one of those camel pack water bottles with the pocket on the outside, I LOVE it! I don’t carry an ID but I am going to put an emergency contact card in it.

MY calfs!! calves? whatever, they hurt. I think I did too many hills yesterday.

Reply

Cool machine! I need a fancy schmancy running belt thingy so I don’t have to run up and down state street to dash into mcdonalds or maceys for a drink of water.
Seeing that laundry reminds me, did you buy a whole bunch of socks the same color so you don’t have to play match up anymore?

Reply

I need a Yonanas machine so that I can do something with all my frozen bananas! I always peel and save overripe naners thinking I’ll whip up something sooner or later, but that hasn’t happened and I have too many containers of frozen bananas lying around!

Reply

My arms are sore today! I got a wii and just dance 3 and cannot stop playing! Haha :D

Reply

That sounds like my kind of workout!

Reply

I do have a hydration belt. I love it for longer runs. I carry my phone and nutrition in the carry pouch.

My legs are sore from my 11 mile run yesterday.

That yonana machine looks interesting…

Reply

My legs are sore from tons of squats we did in Zumba today and SPIN class yesterday!! But it’s a good sore :)

Reply

I have never tried Zumba….do you think I should? How was spin?

Reply

OMG!!!! ZUMBA IS SOOOO FUN!!! YES! Please try it out! I think you will really like it. I just go in there and SHAKE MY GROOVE THANG :) I don’t care what anyone thinks – I just have fun!

and SPIN class kicked my butt! but in a good way! :)

Reply

I have 5-8 of those baskets full of both dirty and clean clothes at my house. I will trade you!! This is what happens when you live with 3 boys and not just 1. :)

Reply

Oh my goodness!! Santa brought me that EXACT SAME fuel belt!! Well not exact same since obviously you have one and I have one. The point is, now we can be twinners! Here’s a link to my review post of the belt: http://missdeneener.blogspot.com/2011/12/fuel-belts-bringing-fashion-and-running.html
PS I’ve tried it frontwards and backwards. Which do you prefer?

Reply

Thanks for linking it…I just read it/commented and so happy we are twiners now!

Reply

Hmmm … I work for a company that manufactures ingredients for gelato, ice cream and frozen yogurt so no Yonanas for me … I need you to go out and keep buying FroYo in the stores :) …

I have a hydration belt that I love but have neglected lately as I have not been on any long runs that merit the use.

No ID … I know … I should!

Reply

Can I get a job with you:)

Reply

I don’t have any hydration belt – I rely on routes that loop past fountains. This has been semi-dangerous on hot summer runs!

Reply

Wow!! YONANA looks YOAWESOME! I want one!

I do not carry an i.d. when I run…bad girl. I have never even thought of it! whoops.

Also, your hair looks totally gorgeous in that last picture!

Reply

My husband bought me a hydration belt and I only wore it once – it bothers me around my waist when I run. I do always use a hand held water bottle though. I need water when I run, even short distances.

Reply

I have that same water belt…why do u havon backwards? daze tell me I’m not the one who’s been erasing it wrong lol!? My knees r sore from my long run. Really sore. Heading to st. George now…looks a bit colder than AZ. :/

Reply

Oops, stupid auto correct on my phone is making me look like a bad speller.

Reply

I live in Florida and a fuel belt is a must. Three thing I HAVE to run with: Garmin, iPhone (for my music) and fuel belt.

Reply

OMG I got a Yonanas machine for Christmas too and I love it! I used it for the first time last night (and wrote a post about it) and mixed it with some frozen berries, but I really want to try it with chocolate and peanut butter! It’s going to be perfect this summer as a replacement for ice cream.

Reply

I got a Nathan hydration belt for Christmas from my sister. I haven’t used it yet, but I can’t wait to try it out.

3 Things I’m thinking about:

1. I really should do a sugar de-tox, but I just want to finish off the snickerdoodles first. :)

2. I’m so happy I put all of my Christmas decor away today, back to normal and moving on.

3. I’m a book-a-holic. I’ve read 4 books in a week.

My sore body part is for sure my right hip. It has been causing me grief and keeping me from running. I’m foam rolling it and using Motrin and stretching but it is slow to heal. :( Thank goodness for the elliptical machine and bike while I wait.

Reply

4 books in a week…you are my hero!!! YES, finish the snicker doodles first:) BO to your hip….hoping it gets better asap!

Reply

I have a hydration belt, but honestly I don’t like it. It moves (as in slides around my middle, and then I end up smacking my arms against it, of course maybe it is user error)

I have one that I carry, and I LOVE that one. Not a good one if you don’t want to stop and refill, but maybe I drink too much.

I do carry my cell phone (with my mom as my “ICE”), $20 (in case I need a cab), ID and insurance card. You never know when you might be hit by a car. Not a good thought, I know.

Reply

Janae, I just dedicated a post on my blog to you :) Check it out, you’ll love it!

Reply

TORI…that made my day, you are the best!

Reply

oo! i can’t wait to hear more about that hydration belt.

Reply

Hiiii Frrriiieeennnndddd. Yonanas? Yes please!!!!

I have a couple of different belts/handhelds that I run with. I can’t imagine not having water/nuun/something with me. There are not enough water fountains around these parts, lol.

Reply

You look so cute!! I love your sweater! And I’m sooooo jealous that you got a spin bike! You pretty much have your very own gym at home now!
Ps…. I’m moving back to slc in march so I wanna run lots of races with you!
Xoxo

Reply

Dear Heather,
Your comment just made my life. I am THRILLED that you are coming back HOME and we are going to play so much…hope you don’t get too sick of me!

Reply

I have a question.. I dislike bananas because of the weird stringy texture. Just can’t get past it. I LIKE banana flavor. I obviously LOVE fro-yo… do you think I’d like yonanas!??! anybody?!?!?

Reply

HEY YOU!!! Okay, so the yonanas didn’t have the stringy texture at all, it was super smooth and the flavor was amazing. i really think that you would like it!

Reply

I SOOOOOOO had *that* kind of soreness last week!! Awkward.

Tangent….Lord willing, my husband is going to the gym with me tonight!! YAY!!!!!!!!

Reply

SO SO EXCITING that the husband is going with you tonight, that is awesome!!!! I want to hear all about it!

Reply

My abs are so sore today – too many planks yesterday!

Reply

SHUT UP i got that YONANA’S MACHINE TOO!!!! yet to use it yet but now i CANT WAIT!!!!!!!
your concoction looks deliciouss!!!!<3

Reply

I totally have a hydration belt just like that! but mine is yellow & gray.. I call it my g’nades because the water bottles are like little hand grenades! haha

I’m mostly sore.. because I’m a GIRL ugh but you made me want some frozen banana & chocolate and I bet that’ll help fix me right up :) I only have a blender though — you say this yonanas thing really makes all the diff?? My favorite combo with the frozen banana is some chocolate protein powder, peanut butter and chocolate syrup YUM

Tell me a TANGENT about YOU!!!!

1. My birthday is four days – New Year’s Eve. I will be 38.

2. I love black licorice more than is healthy. We gave my mom black licorice over Christmas. I am “sharing” it with her.

3. My favorite color is purple, and there’s no denying it when you see my wardrobe.

Do you have one of those hydration belt thingees? Do you carry an ID with you while running?

— I have two different hydration belts (one with two smaller bottles, one with one larger one), plus a hand held bottle. I usually just carry cash to buy water at CVS, because I feel like I use having water with me as an excuse to slow down and drink. I have a purple roadId that goes around my right wrist. It has my name plus my cousin’s name + phone #, and my mom’s name + #. Cousin’s is first only because she lives closer and would be most useful in an emergency.

Where are you most sore right now?

– Right hamstring. I think I strained it in a race back in October and it’s been on/off sore since then. Today was day off after three days on, will probably stretch it tonight and tomorrow before my 8 mile run.

Reply

Your bday is on NEW YEAR’S EVE….HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! That is so exciting! Black licorice is my least favorite candy…I will send you any that I get. I do LOVE purple though:) BOOO to your hamstring, it better get feeling better asap! Have a blast on your 8 mile run!

Reply

Hi Janae! That yonanas froyo looks terrible. But I have a feeling it tastes like heaven! I need one (hint*husband). I always have my Road ID bracelet and my husband is ICE on my Iphone.
My tangent: why do people think going to wal-mart in PAJAMAS and SLIPPERS is a good idea?! It’s not. Wal-mart makes me have no hope in humanity sometimes.
I’m sore in my arms. I did Jillian’s Yoga Meltdown video yesterday. She murders me. Have you ever tried this video? It’s a great workout and I don’t even like yoga!

Reply

I am so glad I read your blog today! I have added yonanas to my wish list. You will have to let us know how you like the fuel belt…and maybe share your recipes ;)

Reply

You better believe I will!! YES, get a yonanas machine asap! Have an amazing night Amy!

Reply

OMGGG I want that dessert thing!!! I don’t have a hydration belt but have been wanting one. I get thirsty on my long runs!
I leave my laundry in it’s basket for a full week sometimes. I am awful with that!

Reply

I wear a Road ID when I go on a run outside, but I don’t have a hydration belt. I’ll probably get one though for the summer and MARATHON training! And my sore spot is the bottom of my left heel… I’m literally limping. Afraid I have plantar faciitis…

Reply

OH NO….girl, I am so so sorry. Plantar is NOT FUN!! Take some time off and see your doc if it doesn’t go away!

Reply

aaack I want to try that banana thing….anything to bring me closer to frozen yogurt in my home.

I never wear any ID when I’m outside. But I suppose I probably should!

Never used a hydration belt either, I need to get on that.

Reply

YONANAS giveaway please? :)

Reply

That is a great idea. I might have to contact.

Reply

them.

Reply

Tangent: I went into the mall today to exchange some jeans and ended up walking out with a Coach purse..and didn’t tell my husband until he got home :-)

Reply

um…you are awesome. I am always tempted to do something like that….I might just copy your lead and just explain to Billy that BROOKE DID IT!!!

Reply

I have a Road id on my running shoe and always have it on my runs. Better safe than sorry. I have been doing spin for a couple of weeks now and my butt is just now starting to feel better. Ouch!

Reply

That machine sort of scares me, but also sounds awesome.

I haven’t tried a hydration belt because even the spibelts sort of drive me crazy. I do carry a hydration pack on long runs, though, and LOVE it.

I’m not sore at all right now and that kind of makes me sad.

Reply

I do have one of those hydration belt thingies, and it is REALLY convenient in the summer. And I just got a hydration pack for Christmas, so I’m pretty excited to try that out this summer too!

I’m about to invest in a spin bike, too. What model did you get? I’m looking at the Schwinn IC2. I can’t afford a whole lot, and that one has really good reviews from everything I’m reading…

Reply

I have a Sunny health and finess, sfb901 and it is incredible! I have tried a lot of spin bikes out and this is by far my favorite!

Reply

I have never heard of this machine, but I think I need one!!!

Right now, I am SORE everywhere. I did a crazy boot camp yesterday at the ice rink and Hot Yoga today. Leaving for vaca in 1 week…so must get in the tough workouts this week!

Reply

What kind of boots do you have on in the last picture, you look so cute!? I know you live somewhere where it snows. Do they happen to be waterproof? I’m moving to Michigan and do not know what to wear in the snow!

Reply

Thanks!!!! I haven’t tried out the boots in the snow yet but they keep my feet extra warm! They are from target and I think they were $30.

Reply

Tangent: my Dear is in charge of the remote tonight and turned it to CONEHEADS, gah! Too bad there aren’t any trashy reality shows on for me to turn it to :P

Reply

OH NO!! Bachelor starts NEXT WEEK!!! I hope he fell asleep so that you could watch Kardashians or something:)

Reply

I used to carry my ID when I ran but now I always have my RoadID on. Better safe than sorry.
At least you guys have your clothes in a basket. My hubs throws everything on the couch and then walks out to the living room every morning after his shower to get clean underwear. *sigh*

Reply

I am sore from falling HARD while ice skating with my nephews and niece on Christmas Eve. Yeah…. probably not smart being 5 months preggo! I nearly gave Brandon a heart attack. It sure was fun though but my elbow and knees are black and blue. :( Glad you are bringing back Triple Tangent Tuesdays!

Reply

That Yonanas thing looks awesome. I want one now too. I got a hydration belt when I was training for my first marathon 6 years ago and I’m still using it! I love it. Most sore right now would be my arms from a double dose of 30 Day Shred this morning!

Reply

My tangent: Oh how I’ve missed you!!! I haven’t read blogs in foreverrrrrrr (like November!) thank goodness for winter break! Hoping to keep it up in the new year! Now to go stalk you out and see what you and other bloggy friends have been up to!! Hope your holidays have been fantastic so far :)

Reply

Melissa, I have missed YOU!!! You haven’t updated since November ha….I will forgive you:) Hope you had an amazing holiday!

Reply

oh my god i NEEDDD that yonanas machine RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!! I would eat banana ice cream for every single meal every single day. I wanna try adding hot cocoa mix to it….

Right now my butt is sore! I’ve been doing some core/hip/glute strength stuff and oh man….hurts so good. Buns of steel right here.

Reply

That’s super cool that you get to make your own froyo! Sadly, I have never heard of that machine. :( I really must get out more.
I must have done something to my hip while I was working out earlier, because it’s givng me fits. Loser hip! :)
I have never worn a hydration belt, but I did finally get an arm band thingy to hold my IPhone…..yay! Once I start running farther I will check those out.
Have a great night!

Reply

The yonanas machine looks awesome! We live in the middle of no where and the closet place for frozen yogurt is 90 miles away! My children think I am the best when we do get to stop and get some. I may have to investin a yonanas than I could be the best atleast once a week instead of once every three months!

Reply

I have a friend who tried out the Yonanas. She had a problem with the bananas at a weird consistency. But, I’ve been itching to try myself since we are Froyo addicts too.

I’m sore from picking up bike riding again too. Ouch! I’m trying to get out on the bike more so it’ll get better. That’s supposed to help, right?

Reply

YAY for more riding!! I think you are right, the more we do it the better. I actually love the ‘weird consistency’ of the bananas:) It is frozen and sweet so I like it ha! Have a great day Carrie!

Reply

I started out with a hydration pack this summer…but found it best for longer hikes(I’m not a longer distance runner…yet). I invested in a Camelback Delaney plus hydration belt at the end of September. It has a holster for a 24 oz bottle, a 5oz gel flask, and a couple of pockets. I had a little trouble figuring out how to adjust it on my curves so it would stay in place, but now that I’ve figured it out I love it. I need lots of water while running, even in the freezing Utah temps.
I’m pretty new to reading your blog, but I find a lot of motivation here, so thank you!

Reply

HEY JEN!! Thanks for your comment! I am going to have to look into the Camelback Delaney, that sounds awesome! I am the same as you, no matter what temperature it is here, I am ALWAYS thirsty…must be because it is so dry!

Reply

How I missed TTT!

The one thing I really needed for Christmas was a hydration belt. I didn’t get one. What’s up with that?! I need to start searching for a good deal because long runs are going to start soooon.

What are some of the local races you are doing next year?

Reply

hmm lets see. a tangent: I have been spending all waking moments reading The Hunger Games series–so sooo good. Oh, and I leave for the Rose Bowl in 36 hours!!

For runs more than 10 miles I take my fuelbelt otherwise I take my nathan handheld and stick a Gu in there.
Always wearing my slim road ID. Love it and feel naked without it. It saved my friend when he was mugged–they were able to get his wallet back to him cause his road ID was in his drawstring bag!

Not sore today, but will be after my 9 miler tomorrow. Gotta get a good run in before a week long trip sans running :(

Reply

that machine looks fab! ooh….i bought sour patch kids and swedish fish in NYC to bring back to the UK just because of u!! just had to try them….the fish are in the freezer as we speak!! :-) merry christmas!! xx

Reply

More like yoIwanna- i need one if these machines in my lift…SO cool! I love your tangent posts! Two tangents of me:

1) I am lying in bed debating whether to have waffles or a yogurt mess for breakfast: it’s a hard life

2) I haven’t washed my hair since Saturday…and probably should not have admitted that on the Internet

Have a great day, my friend!

Reply

I have not tried a hydration belt yet. I was lucky while I was living in DC in that the water fountains were more or less working around the national mall/downtown area during my long runs. You’ll definitely have to let us now how you like the belt. Do you know what races are on the schedule for 2012? Any triathlons making an appearance? I hear IM Louisville is still open!

I’m moving to GA for a few months to finish my last clinical for PT school and have realized how spoiled I was with all the races in and around DC. I just posted an overview of my 2012 training plan…so much to look forward to! Happy holidays!

Reply

Along the lines of laundry, I put on some socks this morning, only to find out a few hours later that they didn’t match… I had to take them off because it was so irritating.

Reply

I am a little saddle sore myself. When I ride on the trainer I sit differently than I do when I ride on the roads and it makes my lady parts hurt more! (TMI?)

I have a hydration belt. I mostly hate it. I love having water with me, but I hate how heavy it gets. I prefer to stash water along my route.

Tangent about me – I just spent my Christmas money today and got myself a lovely navy ASOS dress and some wine Jessica Simpson pumps. It will rock (in my mind it does, I have to wait until the dress comes in the mail to see for sure).

Reply

No tangent really. I have a Nathan water bottle that I carry. And I do put a business card with emergency info in the pocket.
Most sore in my left shoulder. I think I pulled something. It is has been sore since last Thurs.
The Kidless Kronicles

Reply

I want that Yonanas machine! :D

Reply

I too got Yonanas for Christmas. I had never heard of it but my mom thought I would like it…we shall see!

Reply

Yonana machine! I am obsessed! I have been making banana soft serve every night basically and need this guy in my life. I got an amazaon gift card for xmas so I know exactly where that is going!

Reply

I have 2 fuel belts, but they drive me nuts, I only wear them if I have to.

I never carry an ID when I run, unless I am wearing one of my road IDs

Reply

I have a few fuel belts – one for hiking with 2 big bottles and a big pocket, 1 for short runs that’s just a handheld “sleeve” for a single 10 ounce bottle, and then one for long runs that holds 4 10-ounce bottles + has a pocket for phone/keys/gu. I’m a hydration addict ;)

I wear a Road ID whenever I go running/hiking, you just never know!

Reply

mayb i should invest in a yogurt machine too.. :) I love your boots in that pic :) super cute

Reply

I got a Yonanas for Christmas too! Now I’m just staring at my bananas trying to will them to get brown. :) Tangent about me…I have a Incredible Hulk phobia…not the cartoon one, the Lou Ferrigno one!

Reply

I do have a hydration belt, and I really like it.

My feet are sore from playing basketball with my hubby & his buddies on Monday and Tuesday (and other muscles here & there that I’ve forgotten about). I drew the line today… didn’t want it to affect my running later in the day. It was lots of fun, though!
