Garlic Makes You Lose Friends

December 27, 2011

First of all, don’t you like Billy’s new haircut?  I’ll take all of the credit.  I am really advancing in my talent of using one clipper on his entire head.  14 dollars saved that I can now spend on a sweet water bottle holder for my spin bike.

Billy had a staring contest with a stuffed bear.  I am proud to say that he won.   My nieces and nephews think that BIlly is the funniest thing in the whole world.

Yesterday afternoon we went and hung out at my family’s house again because there are still a bunch of people in town (I mean it’s not like we don’t normally go over there daily).

I don’t know what was wrong with me but I was eating really healthy.

Sippy cups are saving me from doing a lot of laundry, now I only spill on myself when I don’t secure the lid on tight enough.

We made a trip to Costco because we were out of a very important ingredient.

IMG 1353

Yes, that is garlic.  My sister is out of control and puts on 34 cloves worth of garlic when she roasts broccoli.  The above pan is for two people.  We scraped a lot of the garlic off, don’t worry we aren’t that gross, but the delicious juices made the broccoli amazing.  We also had our favorite tomato soup with 1/4th cup pepper.

IMG 1359

Billy would have nothing to do with the garlic with a side of broccoli and made (and ate by the kids to avoid the smell of our dinner) mac and cheese.  Everyone was happy.

Billy and I went home to continue our awesome/healthy habit of sleeping in until the time that I normally eat lunch at work by watching way too many hours of tv.

What was the very last thing you bought at the grocery store?

-Broccoli but I secretly wish it was a tub of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.

Mac and Cheese fan?

-Yep.  I add ketchup to mine because why would I not add condiments to a meal?

Any guesses to what I had for dessert last night?  Winner gets 10 points.

Garlic lover like me and my sis?

I love garlic, but you’re right…you’ll lose friends. Ketchup on mac n’ cheese? I’ll bet you had ice cream. I bought a ton of food at the grocery store, and will you tell me how exactly you roasted the broccoli? What did you put on it besides garlic?

I am pulling out the clippers today, I totally feel the same way. I don’t love cutting their hair (and usually take them to the barber), but now and then I think of all the money it saves to just buzz their three heads and then go buy myself something. :)

Last thing from store… soda and wine for Christmas dinner.

I LOVE mac and cheese! I could eat it all by itself. Oh wait, I do!

You had fro-yo for dessert?! ;)

Now I want mac and cheese :)

OH MY GOD. Your sister and I can be best friends. Everyone always judges the amount of garlic I use. I personally don’t see a problem. No way.

Haha I love that Billy had to sit with the kiddos!

Last thing from the store was a ton of things to cook on Christmas from COSTCO! I used to put ketchup on my mac & cheese when I was little. Now I’m not a fan of ketchup so it kind of revolts me ha!

FROYO for sure!

The last thing I bought was some greek yogurt from Trader Joe’s the day before Christmas eve. I was out and couldn’t survive the holiday weekend without it. I’ll have to venture out again today since all we have left is leftover lamb and food I can’t eat. Oh, and butternut squash, which I have eaten way too much of over the last 3 days. No. More. Squash.

I LOVE garlic, but I think Mike could eat it raw. The kid is gross.

I put pepper on my mac and cheese and mexican spices in my tomato soup. Is that weird?

LOVE garlic but only eat it when I’m not going to be in close contact with others later- too dangerous otherwise haha! Milky way for dessert?

Kristen @ notsodomesticated December 27, 2011 at 7:05 am

Ice cream for dessert?? I thought you guys had a ton of ice cream tubs earlier this week … did you already eat through all of it??

Last thing I got at the grocery store: MORE Life cereal for my husband. I think I need to do an online search to see if I can buy it in bulk!

I buy the frozen garlic from TJs, I love the stuff.

I do not like boxed Mac and Cheese anymore, I do the love the frozen stuff from TJs. I actually might attempt to make some homemade.

My guess for dessert is leftover desserts from Christmas.

I love garlic but that is an INSANE amount! haha
We eat Annie’s mac n cheese at least once a week so I’d say we’re definite lovers :)

Peppermint ice cream and brownie ice cream mix.

How many sleepover nights did you get out of Billy?
I love that you are sleeping in every morning…….you have to treat yourself to the things that will come to a schreetching halt all too fast when reality strikes.

Have a great day. We leave the in-laws today so my Christmas is in the final stretch………that is happy and sad!

Last thing I bought… Diet Cranberry Ginger Ale because it’s liquid crack and I haven’t drank this much soda in about 3 years. Must.Stop.Stocking.Up.
I am Italian, soooo I could probably eat garlic RAW if I preferred to do so! Honestly, I get offended if things with garlic in it do not have a pronounced garlic flavor. Yumm-o in my book! Bring on the gum!
I love mac and cheese but I’ve become scared of it because I’m an idiot. I had it for the first time in forever last night. It was delicious. It had whole wheat noodles, so that’s healthy right?!
I bet you haddddd chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream since you wanted to buy more… you might have eaten the rest of it?!

Kate @ Chasing It December 27, 2011 at 8:14 am

oh WOW that’s a ton of garlic!! I’m part Sicilian so of course it goes into pretty much EVERYTHING i cook, but….never that much haha. I may have joined billy by the mac and cheese…to which I always add extra cheese from the cheese grater hahaha.

I looooooooove garlic! Your sister and I have that in common, bug time! I would do the exact same thing and put exactly that much garlic on the broccoli! SO GOOD! I repel vampires.

Having a veggie stir fry tonight. Totally need to detox after all the Christmas goodies. Bought a TON of veggies at the grocery store this morning. can’t wait to consume them all. Muwahahahahahahahahahaha!

Mac and Cheese is a staple in our house. With 3 kids – gotta have it. Last trip I bought stuff to make guacamole.

I honestly can’t remember the last thing I bought at the grocery store. My husband does most of the grocery shopping. The last thing I made him get me was ground turkey and chicken.

I love garlic gold. I put that in a lot of my foods. I also made a black bean side dish last night with garlic…the smell is still in the house.

I bought potatoes, cheese and sour cream for my mom so she could make dinner (baked potatoes loaded with chili and many, many toppings). My mom is a wonderful woman. We had the missionaries from my ward over, and I think they were a little terrified by the amount of cheese and tortilla chips I put on my potato.
And now that you mention it, I’m thinking mac n’ cheese + ketchup would be amazing on a baked potato yes?! Or that may just be my apple pie hangover talking haha
I’m going to go ahead and guess that you probably had ice cream/some type of frozen dessert?! Oh, and what type of spin bike did you get?! I’m looking into buying one :)

I am a fan of Mac n cheese, but haven’t had it in years!

Hope you are having a great day!

You know, that is a darn good haircut. I try to actually cut Aaron’s hair with clippers and I usually goof up and just buzz it all down. I’m impressed with your skillz and I think you need to share your technique. I love tons of garlic in everything… that is always the first question from the inlaws when I cook… “How much garlic is in this?” hee hee
