Meet-Up Details and My Travel Buddy.

SATURDAY BLOGGER/RUNNER/READER/ANYONE THAT WANTS TO COME MEET-UP and eat delicious fro-yo in NYC……..

We are meeting at 1 pm on Saturday, Nov. 5th at 16 Handles!

82nd and 2nd Avenue!

Directions (I clearly have no idea how to get around, these are from Heather): Take the 6 train uptown to 86th street, it is just a few blocks from that! The train will get you off on 86th and Lexington and then 16 handles is on 2nd avenue and 82nd street. It is on the Upper East Side which is a super easy area to get to! It is really close to the race route as well, so all you runners could check it out after!

Speaking of fro-yo, my mom just had to see me before I left and spend time with her favorite frozen goodness eating partner.   I was feeling fruity with a side of chocoalte chips for today’s toppings.  Those little balls are like gushers because there is fruit juice inside of them, SO GOOD.

After some packing, errands and plotting out what books I am going to read on the plane today, I met my sister for some quality time before I leave.  My sissy was going to be coming with me to NY BUT she is going through a divorce right now and things came up and she needs to stay with her kids.  I will miss her dearly, and we WILL make up for this trip.  My cousin WILL be coming with me though…don’t worry, I won’t be roaming the alleys (this is a joke Mom, sorry…I just had to clear that up for her) of NY alone.

Why oh why am I the only one that got the sweating gene in this family……and the ‘you can no longer see my eyes when I smile’ gene?

Photo copy

Dinner was a curved egg sandwich.  Why the bread bended like that, I do not know.  The yolk must be pure liquid, I am gross, I already know.

I thought you would like my amazing backdrop for my food pictures…..Billy is better than some placemat right?!?!

I really wanted to show you the density of these brownies of mine…..that is at least 2.5 inches.  Remember my glass of milk every night before bed goal?  Well, these brownies are really helping me to reach my goals because those babies need a glass of milk.

Just to get a heads up for the meet-up….WHO CAN COME?!?!?!

Who was the last person you worked out with?

How do you entertain yourself on a plane?  Can you sleep on a plane?  Do you read, watch TV?  Do you get to know the people sitting next to you?

-I think you can guess from my blog and the fact that I am a teacher that I am kind of a talker and I always get to know the people next to me.  I will be reading, writing emails and seeing how many peanut packs I can get from the stewardess before she starts saying no.  I can fall asleep anywhere so I am sure there may be a nap or two.

PS I have a layover in Chicago….just in case anyone wants to meet up at Chili’s in the airport for bottomless bowls of chips and salsa;)

Any funny/strange plane stories?

-Not so funny but when I was 12 the guy next to me opened the overhead compartment and his metal briefcase hit me in the head and it knocked me out.

I love those fruit balls. I think they are called Bobi? I can’t believe it’s almost time! That’s so exciting!

I’m sorry about your sister’s situation : ( I will def try to come on Saturday! I start at 9:40 in corral #9 but I am going to drop back to run with my dad. When/where do you start?

Reply

AHHHH I AM IN THE SAME CORAL and start time as you if you don’t want to drop back:) I hope I get to see you on Saturday and thanks for your comment:)

Reply

Here’s a weird/gross story for ya: my sister had fallen asleep on a flight, she woke up and guess what she sees lying on the floor of the plane…wait for it…A SOILED DIAPER! She was appalled, threw a fit at the air hostess and the kid’s father cleaned it up after 20 minutes…how barf-tastic!

Reply

WHAT>……..AHHHH That is awful, I cannot believe that….that better not happen to me today!

Reply

Sorry to hear that your sister is going through a rough time. Good thing she has an amazing family to lean on!

Reply

Thank you so much Ali!! I really appreciate that and you are right….family is so important in times like these!

Reply

How does your sister manage to look like she has fresh make-up on? Not fair! I ran 7 with my girls this morning. I read magazines on planes, or at least try to…..because I am usually trying to keep my kids quiet.

Reply

I KNOW….I am constantly jealous! GREAT run this morning!

Reply

When I was in South America, I took a plane from Ushuaia to the mainland. First, my seat back was broken so I couldn’t lean back because it was slam all the way down into the guy behind me. Even worse? I went to the bathroom and got locked inside! No one knew I was in there and I had to bang around for a good 5 minutes before my bf realized I was still gone and came to get me!! AWKWARD!

Reply

AHHHHH LOCKED IN THE BATHROOM….that is crazy! Good thing your bf saved you:)

Reply

I’m sorry to hear about your sister! Obviously, she has a GREAT support system in you and the rest of your family, which is probably what she’s most grateful for right now. I always bring a TON of stuff to entertain myself on flights. What ends up happening though is that I start with one thing and get bored so fast – by the time I make it one lap through all my activities I’ve arrived at my destination :)

Reply

Thank you so much Lindsey, I really appreciate that! BAHAHAH sounds like we both have ADD and get bored fast ha!

Reply

Last person I workout out with: my dad!
Plane stories: I’ve been on a lot of airplanes, so my family has a lot of stories. Once there was this little kid crying on one of our flights to sao paulo and my sister said that she hoped that the kid wouldn’t be on our next flight b/c it was a nine hour one to Houston. Well, we get on our next flight and who is sitting behind us? That same family w/ the crying baby.

Reply

I love that you workout with your dad! That makes me so happy!

Reply

Girl!!!!, I tweeted you a few times to tell you that I will be in NYC on Sunday to watch for you and I will have a HUNGRY RUNNER GIRL sign for you.. Not sure where I will be located yet, but I will keep an eye out for you and cheer my heart out!! If you don’t see me, or my huge sign, just know that you have so many fans supporting you :)

Reply

AHHHH Stephanie, I am so so sorry…I am so bad at twitter and rarely get on and my posts just automatically post on twitter…I was not avoiding you ha! Can you meet up for cupcakes at 2:30? YOU HAVE A SIGN…that made my day. Thank you so much Stephanie, I really appreciate you!

Reply

Haha, Don’t be sorry !!!!! And so many people appreciate you!! You’re so positive and easy to relate to, which is what makes reading your blog so much fun.. I’m definitely/always up for cupcakes! Where??!? And yes.. there’s a sign, and hope you want to keep it. it MAY have Swedish Fish construction paper cutouts all over it… maybe…

The last person I worked out was the hubby. We don’t get to work out together often because of our schedules but I love when we get the chance!

I can’t sit still on planes at all esp. on the way there. I might be the most annoying person to travel with. I get so excited to just get there that I bounce up and down in my seat the entire time. I’m surprised my marriage lasted through our 12-hour flight to Hawaii.

No plane stories but fly Southwest – they give you so many snacks!!!!

Reply

I am flying Southwest……you know why ha;) That is awesome that you got a workout in with the hubby! I can just picturing you being so happy and bouncing around on your way to Hawaii…you are adorable!

Reply

I last worked out with my dog. We went on a really long, brisk, walk. It was refreshing.

I can sleep anywhere, so sleeping on planes is no problem. I will generally read until I get tired. Or if I am too excited (like I am sure you will be) then just sitting still is a huge undertaking!

Reply

I want a dog so bad to go on long walks with!!

Reply

Did you notice- in the background of the picture of you and your sister, some guy is waving? : )

Reply

BAHAHHA I totally didn’t notice that until you pointed that out..that makes my day!

Reply

I’m sorry to hear that your sister cant go with you but I’m sure you will have an awesome time! I’m kinda jealous that I wont be in NYC to meet you!

The last person I worked out with was my bestie Jessika! We went on a walk. :)

I’ve had some awful plane stories like the time I got stuck on a plane for 9 hours because of a freak snowstorm in Atlanta. They only had one de-icer for the entire airport!! So we just sat on the tarmac waiting and waiting and waiting. It was horrible!

I can never sleep well on the plane so I read my kindle (thank goodness for that thing!) and play games. I have a Nintendo DS and everyone looks at me like I’m crazy when I bust it out!

Reply

Thanks Brandi and I so wish that we could meet up…SOMEDAY!! 9 hours….that would have been crazy!! That is awesome that you have a DS and I am really jealous!

Reply

I can’t believe it is already here! I am nervous and excited but think I am ready. At least I hope.

Good Luck and I will try to meet up with you guys at 16handles. I have never been to the upper eastside location. I always go to the one in the east village but I LOVE IT!!!

Reply

Sarah you are going to rock it!!! I hope you can come, I would love to meet you!

Reply

I’m so jealous of your meetup! Maybe I’ll sneak out of the house and jump on the train to NYC this weekend. Mike will never notice I’m gone!

Reply

SNEAK OUT KARI….you know you want to:)

Reply

That is so sad about your airplane story!

Good luck in your marathon!! Fill up on enough Fro-Yo to power your through lol!

Reply

Thank you so much Elizabeth and you better believe I will be using fro-yo as my fuel:)

Reply

Oh, how I’ve missed your blog!

I actually just got back from FOUR plane rides (my first 4, too). How to keep yourself entertained? Well, I 1.) Prayed frantically to God to keep me alive, 2.)Tried not to pass out., 3.)Read ‘The Help’ .

I cannot believe you got knocked out in a plane! I bet that guy felt awful.

Reply

I HAVE MISSED YOU!!! Your first 4 plane rides ever…that is awesome. How did you like The Help? I pray the whole take-off and landing ha:)

Reply

Have so much fun!! You will rock the race!
I went to the gym with my husband last night, we didn’t work out together though ;)
I read on planes or watch movies if there are any. I will usually get in a short nap if the ride is long enough.
When I was 16 I went on a exchange trip to Europe and in the movie on the flight was Meet the Fockers. Well do you know the part when he say “bomb”? They beeped it out and I wasn’t sure why so (more loudly than I though) I said “what didn’t he say BOMB”. Never say that word on a plane… haha. I had 3 stewardess’s on me in .5 seconds ;) haha

Reply

Send some happy wishes and thoughts to your sister please!
I’m very jealous of this big meet up in NYC, I would truly love to be there….it might be a little far from Georgia just for fro yo though.
The middle part of the plane once FELL DOWN while we were in some turbulence. You know where the masks pop out of? Well, the entire plastic covering fell down and hit us all in the head. I was so scared, I thought the plane was falling apart!
:)

Reply

I so wish I was In NY to go to the meet up!! Have a safe trip! I usually get stuck next to the weirdos on plane rides . I just listen to music, read magazines, and try to sleep!

Reply

I WISH I could be at the blogger meet up! It sounds like you’re going to have such a blast. I’m excited for you! I usually entertain myself on planes with my favorite magazines and my ipod a blarin’!

Reply

Have a good trip!

Janae your candy brownies made me think of these. :)
http://www.mybakingaddiction.com/rolo-brownies-recipe/

You might want to try them they are amazing!

Reply

THANKS FOR THE LINK….I will be making those….and I am drooling right now. Hope you are having a great day Shannon!

Reply

Whenever I go on a plane I love to bring a Yes & Know book with me. You know, the ones with the invisible ink pen where you can play hangman, line-up and battleship. I usually bring a book too so I can look somewhat adult.

Reply

Sorry to hear about your sister – she’ll be in my prayers for sure!
Is it too late for me to sign up for the marathon? ;) I want to come eat fro-yo!!

Reply

Aw I wish I could come to your blogger meet up!! Have an awesome trip to NY!!

Reply

Oh my goodness! I live on 90th and 1st so I will definitely pop in to say hi :) I will definitely be cheering everyone on Sunday morning!

I wish I was going to my. You will have a great time!
Have fun, be safe!!!

Reply

Janae – I am not going to make it on Saturday, but keep me posted on Sunday plans post-marathon please.

Reply

IIIII WILL DEFINITELY MEET YOU ON SATURDAY!! You have not only inspired me to run, but inspired me to take sweaty creepy pics of myself while running/spinning so maybe I can have as many fans as you if i post them on my blog! hahaha yaaaaaaaay see you Saturday!

Reply

i always workout with myself:)

well, i usually read on the plane or listen to music. i am usually with family so i end up sitting next to them. i really don’t like sitting next to strangers, especially on planes.

so far, nothing has happened to me that is strange on a plane.

sorry to hear about your sister!
good luck on your race. new york is beautiful this time of the year!

Reply

I wish I was going to be in NY so that I could meet up with you! Please please come to Orlando one day- you know we have the Disney marathon down here ;) ( I know you can probably run it in CA too, but I promise FL will be fun too!)
I’m sorry to hear about your sister :( She is definitely in my thoughts.
You both are such gorgeous girls!!
Cannot wait to hear all about your NY trip & the race! I will be thinking of you on race day! Xo

Reply

Yay!! I’ll be there on Saturday- cannot wait to meet you and everyone else in NYC!
Here’s a random side note to make you guys smile……
I am engaged right now…when my fiance and I get married next Sept, my married name is going to be CARRIE BRADSHAW!! Thought that was appropriate to share since we will be in NYC!
I am on a high- cannot wait for NYC and the race! Good luck everyone!!

Reply

I’m sorry Janae, I just had to respond to Carrie. That is awesome! I worked with a Katherine Hepburn once (it was her married name). I love it! I am in NJ and I am going to try and make the meetup.

Reply

Thanks, Crissy – I’m pretty stoked about the name too:) Hope to meet you Saturday! :)

Reply

OMG I agree that is AMAZING. Is that the only reason you said yes? totally kidding but how random and AWESOME. good luck on your race!

When I was 17, I was flying home by myself from a 6 week trip to Venezuela. As part of our supper, we were given a little sealed plastic bag with a cookie. As I struggled to open up my little bag, as I was very excited to eat this cookie, the bag suddenly came open and launched my cookie somewhere far behind me. I have no idea where my cookie went. I can only imagine the surprise someone received as a cookie suddenly flew into their face. I was trying hard not to laugh hysterically while feeling somewhat sad that I had lost my cookie. The guy sitting next to me was laughing too and graciously gave me his cookie as a replacement. It was a good cookie.

Reply

WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN THOSE LITTLE BABY GUSHERS?!?!?! i want them for my froyo, and I want them bad.

Reply

i really wish i could go!!! :( It would figure this weekend I actually have a life…not like the gagillion other weekends where I tend to sit at home with no plans. hahaha

Last person I worked out with was Kevin on my birthday…lol, i dont tend to workout with other people too much…i’m more of a loner i guess. i will be dragging him for his second workout ever at our new gym on saturday, booyah!

i’m terrified of planes :( I’m usually a heaving mess during liftoff but once we’re in the air I feel a little better…last plane trip was with Kev, I read magazines and books and eventually we watched a movie on our macbook together. Now that I have the iPad i think it will be alot easier to keep entertained on plane trips!

when me and my brother were young (i think i was 11 or 12?) , we flew to el salvador to spend the summer with our grandparents down there…it was pretty terrifying to say the least, but the stewardesses took pity on us and let us sit in first class and showered us with hot fudge sundaes…turned out not to be such a bad plane trip after all :D

Reply

see you there. can’t wait. if you need me, txt me.

Reply

Best of luck in NYC!!!! Funny/gross plane story… when I was about 15 and my sister was 9 we were on our way home from Florida after visiting our grandparents for Easter. It was just the two of us flying together and she decided to dig into some Easter candy. Well she chugged a Coke and ate a package of blue peeps. She didn’t handle it well and started throwing up. I quickly walked away from her and got a flight attendant. I was not going to handle it. Ha.

Reply

Last person I worked out with? Um myself.. A plane story, well it was a LONG time ago and I’d be embarrassed to say but I’m in a “Club” now.

Reply

God luck this weekend, you’ll do great!!

Reply

I will be there! :) Can’t wait to meet you!

Reply

I’m so sorry to hear your sister is going through a difficult time! I love reading about the time you two spend together – it brings back great memories of time with my sister. I can tell just from your pictures together she is a loving person – and beautiful to boot! Good luck to her!
I WISH I could hop on the train to come meet you this weekend, but I have tons of work so it isn’t going to happen. GOOD LUCK with the race!
Finally, I seriously need those brownies. I have never had a brownie haunt my dreams like that one! Is there anyway you can get your student to give us the recipe? I would be forever grateful!

Reply

aw i want to come but I am not sure I will be in town plus i may feel kinda retarded bc im not a blogger…

Reply

Ahhhhh girl, if you are in town you should definitely come! Pretty please!

Reply

the guy in the pic behind you and your sis seems awfully excited to be part of your photo! best luck this weekend. i hope that you have an amazing time and that the race, while it may not be your fastest, will be the most fun that you’ve ever had while running! run your little heart out and hit up the streets of nyc with the biggest smile possible!

Reply

Awwww so excited for you!! I am so glad your cousin is able to take your sisters spot and I know you two will have an amazing trip. Fly safe and have fun. Do not stress about the running at all, just enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Love you!! I’ll be looking for you Sunday morning. You better believe I will watch the entire marathon on TV.

Reply

I can sleep anywhere too so I usually sleep, read magazines, and usually i predownload some movies (or episodes of shows) to my phone to watch. Plane rides were so long from alaska and i used to fly all the time so i did A LOT of preparing so i wouldnt die on 14 hour trips across the country. zzz

Reply

Sorry about your sister’s situation, I hope everything works out for her. It seems like she has a great support network with your family.

Last person I worked out with – my husband. I try to sleep on planes, if that doesn’t work out, I usually play Yahtzee over and over again on my phone and/or iPad until I fall asleep from that. Oh boy do I have strange plane stories…I have been flying on Air India pretty frequently lately and it is always good for a story.

Have fun in New York!

Reply

Don’t have any fun plane stories but I love to solve sodoku puzzles on the plane or read magazines.
I live 20 minutes from NYC and would have loved to meet you but I will be out of town and will be back Monday. Good luck and I will be cheering you on from my hotel room in Wisconsin.

Reply

Chicago? If I would have known, I would have made plans to meet you……no lie!!

Have.the.BEST.time. Be like a sponge and soak up the whole experience. Remind yourself to be fully present in every moment. SO.excited.for.you.

Reply

Dang it….maybe I will take a cab to your school and we can hang out! Someday we really have to make this work!

Reply

boo, i will be out of town. i will meet you one day!

Reply

For 16 handles, I would almost contemplate the 1.5 hr train ride into the city ;)
Hope you have an amazing time!!
here’s a plane story for ya: Got stuck in a window seat next to a man who was at least 400 lbs in the seat next to me who opened the conversation with “do you dip?” It took me about 10 seconds to realize he was talking about tobacco and not food of some sort. When I got my act together to say “no,” he was already pulling out a tin of it and then proceeded to spill it ALL OVER ME! So much for no tobacco products on a plane…

Reply

That’s just 10 blocks from my apartment — I definitely plan on coming!

Reply

Ahhhhhh wahooooo! I can’t wait to meet you!!!!

Reply

Just want to send some virtual love and prayer for your sis and the kids.

Go take The City by storm.

Reply

Thanks so much missy! I really appreciate it! Hope you are having an amazing day!

Reply

Their is a froyo place across the street from my house and they have those little nuggets of joy there, love them.
I worked out with a bunch of peeps last night for a weigh training/circuit type workout. it kicked my booty since I haven’t been in a few weeks due to my big race. I am paying today, I can barely get out of a chair. heehee
I always make a new friend on a plane, how can you sit that close to someone and not talk. That is until I pass out with the Dramamine, I get motion sickness, it puts a damper on my new friendships. :-)
Have fun in NY!

and not talk.

Reply

Uhhhhh d00d I will get froyo in nyc with you annnyyyyy dayyyy! I’ll see if I’m going with Padre and let you knooow slash wah give my love to your sister and her chilluns!!

Reply

We finally get to meet!!! This is going to be a blast!!!

Reply

I worked out with my friend Lauren that I haven’t seen in months and months…pretty much since she got married! We went to a donation-only power yoga. Before this class, I always thought I HATED yoga. I need sweat in my eyes and to feel intensely uncomfortable to feel like I’m exercising…and this class finally did that! Now, I might be in l0ve. :)

On planes, I love to sleep when I can. Otherwise I get air sick. If I can’t sleep I either read or do crossword puzzles. I’ll talk if my neighbor initiates it, but otherwise, not really.

I have so many plane stories that it would blow your mind. I don’t think I’ve had a flight actually go as planned in YEARS. Here are just a few:
– gotten stuck for 12.5 hours in Detroit
– turned around in the air, halfway through a flight because an engine died
– gotten stuck in Orlando for an extra day because of a snow storm in ATLANTA
– had the flight attendants ask us how much we weigh before take off and then get assigned to different seats
– had the person next to me spill their ice water on me…. TWICE
– had to turn around on the tarmac because commissary forgot to give us ice. This lead to an hour delay. Seriously.
– sat on the tarmac for 3 hours before having the flight cancelled and spending the night on the floor of JFK — this was after flying back from living on a sailboat in Greece for 3 weeks. So, I was in backpacking clothes, with no shower, and a hot pink bandanna to cover my nasty hair. I had an internship start at a national lab the next day; so when I finally got there, I looked like a dirty gypsy on my official government id.

Anyway, I’ll stop there, but long story short, but no one EVER asks me to be their travel buddy. :D

Reply

I am sorry to hear about your sister.

I almost always work out alone, sometimes the BF goes for runs with me. My dogs think they are my personal trainers. When I do a video at home and lay on the floor for ab stuff or stretching they stand RIGHT OVER me seeming to say “C’mon! You can do it!” I love them.

I can sleep on a plane. I’ve slept through take-offs before. It was a reeeeeaaallllly early flight. I usually just read.

No really funny plane stories but one time, I was sitting near someone with toxic gas. It was terrible. Have a good flight!

Reply

I don’t get into NYC till 1:30 Saturday but I’m hoping to hunt down you and SR pre race! My start isn’t till 10:10 but we’ll be getting there early

Reply

Yes please find me! Could you go for cupcakes after?!?

Reply

I would love to but I doubt I’ll be done by 2:30 (I think that’s what SR said). I’m in the second wave and not nearly as speedy as you ladies so it will take me 4+ hours so I doubt I’ll finish and make it over there by then!

Reply

We will be there for awhile (I probably won’t be able to walk for hours) please come!

Reply

Gunna do my best!

Reply

Good luck in NY girl!! I can’t wait to read the recaps and hear how you rocked it!

I wish I could sleep in planes. We took a red-eye back from Hawaii in May and I was WIDE awake the whole time. I usually just read or watch a movie. I can’t sleep anywhere but a warm, comfy bed.

Reply

I love 16 handles, so may have to stop by if I can get over the whole I feel like a creepy stalker thing esp since i don’t have a blog :)

Reply

Whatever!!! Erin you better come! I am counting on meeting you!

Reply

Hey Girl! I would love love love to come to the meet-up on Saturday. My boyfriend’s brother and sister-in-law is in town, so I’m a tentative yes depending on if I can break away from playing tour guide. Maybe I can just guide them all the way to 82nd street… :)

GOOD LUCK!!

Reply

Yes yes yes please come!!!! Bring everyone, it is going to be a good time!

Reply

I can ‘t come :( but that IS pretty close to me as far as States go lol

have fun and Janae you look beautiful /w your smiling eyes ;)

Reply

Thanks girl!!! You are do nice! We will go for froyo together someday!

Reply

I live in NYC and used to live right near 16 handles! It was dangerous because I would go all the time. Love that place! There is also a really good Mexican place called Cascabel on 80th and 2nd right nearby for lunch, great tacos and guacamole! Good luck in the marathon!

Reply

Can you come for froyo? That Mexican place sounds amazing!

Reply

Those brownies look amazing and I totally want one! I don’t like when they’re all light and airy, brownies should be dense!

And the yolk on your egg sandwich? That’s exactly how I love my eggs! The runnier the better. So good and not gross at all!!

Reply

I want to try to make it to finally meet you! I love 16 handles and actually live super close to the downtown location :) so dangerous haha

Reply

I hope you can Wendy! I would love to meet you!

Reply

Big hug to your sister.

Reply

I bring my Nook on planes — that way I can read or I play Sudoku. Or I just sit with my eyes closed — I can’t sleep on planes but resting like that can be nice.

Reply

Sorry to hear about your sister. I hope you have a great time in NY! Enjoy some Ny style pizza after the race : )

Reply

Good luck and have fun in New York!!! I tell you this all the time, but one more reminder to get a Crumbs cupcake! You will surely thank me later. http://www.crumbs.com

I swear they will change your life more than those brownies! ;)

As for airplanes, I just watched movies when I went to Puerto Rico. And took pictures of my friend because she fell asleep and was drooling. I am the nicest friend :)

Reply

I just clicked on the link you posted for crumbs cupcakes! Holy cow they look amazing. The Half and Half, Oreo and Chocolate Snowball are making my mouth water as we speak. :) How in the world do you choose?

Reply

You order your own 6-pack as a random gift to yourself and try a new 6 each time :)

Or make friends with the New York City friends in your dorm so when they go home, they always bring you some back! Hahahha.

My fave is the Elvis (isn’t on the site) but the cappuccino is also good. As well as the reeses!

Reply

I am so sorry to hear of your sisters situation. I know she is blessed having such a supportive & loving family around her… that is SO important during hard times.

Good luck in NY! You will rock it! I would love to take a trip to NY before our baby comes in May. Maybe I should propose this idea to my husband… :)

Reply

I’m coming to the meetup!!
It’s right by my apartment AND 16 Handles is my all time favorite!
Just to let you know, that location gets super packed… Might not have a place for everyone to sit, packed. But it doesn’t matter! We’ll all have tons of fun! : )

Reply

Once again I WISH I was in NYC this weekend!!! I love that 16 handles! I used to go with my bestie because she lives up there!!
In september when I was on a plane to Hawaii, a soldier I was chatting with changed my seat so that I could sit next to him. This then turned into an 8 hour counseling session where I got to practice my skills as he unloaded everything he has gone through personally and on deployment. It was soooo intense!I was most definitely not prepared for that!
Needless to say I chat with people, or I read/do work/watch movies/look at pictures etc!
I usually run solo but two weeks ago I went on a hike with friends!!!

Reply

I got an e-mail about the NYC Spectator App by MapMyRun and thought of you. I think it’s $2.99 but it allows your friends to track you and watch some of the race live. Anyway, I’m looking forward to hearing about your run : ) Rock it!

Reply

Crumbs!! Sounds like the perfect most marathon meet-up.
Good luck on Sunday.

Reply

Good Luck this weekend, you are going to do great! You get to start with SR, how exciting!! I’m sorry, I know it’s not funny at all but for some reason the brief case knocking you out on the plane made me for real LOL. I can never sleep on planes, but I always get in lots of reading :)

Reply

I’ll be there on Saturday! Have a great flight (stay away from the overhead compartments). Sorry your sister can’t come with you, but you’ll have your cousin and lots of blog reader friends to keep you company.

I’m looking forward to seeing all the amazing performances in NYC this weekend to get me pumped for my first marathon in Philly in two-ish weeks!!!!

Reply

I really can’t wait to meet you and you are going to rock Philly!

Reply

No strange flight stories from me… my husband is always on alert for terrorists so that used to spook me a bit but that stopped when he suspected the obviously drunk/hungover guy next to us…

I am sooooo excited for you to do the marathon! I know you must be ecstatic!! I am going to watch the live coverage so I expect to see you wave to me! j/k =]

I know you are just doing it for fun but I know you are still going to do AMAZING!!!! You are just that good!!

Have fun! =]

That is so cool!!!! Yes, please try and come if you can:)

Good luck, you’re going to do awesome! I don’t mind flying and I read, sleep, catch up on emails, or watch a movie :) Weirdest thing that ever happened to me was a guy puked in my seat while boarding and they had to switch the seat out! They gave me a bottle of wine as a sorry

Last person (only person) I worked out with is my trainer.
I can sleep on a plane. But usually I read or I download a movie on the iPad and watch that.
No strange stories recently. But a long time ago I was held up for “mechanical issues”. And then they told us that they had to glue a piece of the wing on and were waiting for the glue to dry. I don’t need to know that.

WHOA. I can’t even remember the questions you asked for the post’s content because I’m thinking about the density of those brownies… I love the way you bake. ;)

Good luck this weekend! Run strong, have fun, take it all in.

I got locked in an airplane bathroom when I was 5 on the way to hawaii with my family! I was JUST barely tall enough to latch the door shut but it got stuck and so I couldn’t get out! my mom said i had been missing for awhile and then she heard somone sobbing and just KNEW it was me. Hahaha the stewardesses had to like pry me out!

I can’t sleep on planes, so I usually watch all the movies, read all the magazines in front of me cover to cover, and play like 10 thousand rounds of solitaire on my iPod and people watch. The 10 hour flight from Paris to Dallas I took was miserable becasue I hadn’t slept in about 40 hours and STILL couldn’t fall asleep… Such a boring 10 hours!

Good luck at the marathon! Do you know if it is broadcast on TV? I want to watch it!

Have fun!!! When you get back we need to have a fro yo party in Orem. Have a blast at the marathon and remember we are all cheering for you here in Utah!!! You are going to rock it!!!

I’m so sad for your sister. I know I don’t know her at all, but I can’t even imagine what she is going through. Good thing she has a sister like you- be sure to give her extra hugs right now.

If I were going on a plane by myself- or with a friend- I would be talking or reading on my Kindle the entire time. I wish I could read uninterrupted!!!

I was flying home from Denver last year and a few weird things happened- the plane was delayed because of mechanical problems and took off two hours later without anyone telling us if everything was fixed (I assume it was, haha). Halfway through the flight, one of the flight attendants called for a doctor and everyone was hovering around this guy and I never found out what was going on… and then right before we landed, the pilot warned us that the reason we were going to see ambulances on the ground when we landed is because the plane was coming in too fast and they were there ‘just in case.’ Right before we landed, he got on the intercom and went ‘whoaaaaaaa’ and then never said anything else!! Weirdest flight of my life…

all egg sandwiches should look like that! it adds pizzaz, for real. I bet you’re suuuuuuper excited to get to NYC! If I were going I wouldn’t have to fly, but I actually love plane rides – weird, i know – great time to catch up on reading! I always buy a crappy brainless magazine to read, like cosmo or glamour or something hahah.

Ouch for being knocked out!
Last person I worked out with was my boyfriend – we ran together.
I would LOVE to find someone interesting next to me on a plane one day, but I always wind up next to a couple when I fly solo. So, I wind up sleeping for the most part, preferably on the aisle seat. If only I could afford business or first class ;)

I will be there!!! Can’t wait!!

Please let me know if you’ve found something good to read. I’m planning a trip soon and can’t decide on the mix of paperbacks, magazines and Kindle.
ENJOY NEW YORK!!!

How exciting- good luck!
On planes I put podcasts on my mp3 and listen to them mostly. I sometimes read a magazine, and also spend a lot of time wondering if I need the toilet or not, then if I get up will there be turbulence, and what if the seatbelt sign comes on while I am in the toilet!

My dad starts at 9:40 too but I can’t remember what Coral he is in, that would be so fun if you started together though :). I will be there with my family and my uncles and his 2 daughters so I don’t think I will be meeting up but it sounds way fun! I hope I see you sometime though (among the 2 million other people that will be there)! We leave in just a few hours, I’m so excited!

I’ll be at the Expo during then but Sunday afterward I vote some sort of bakery gathering! Or maybe Dylan’s Candy Bar to OD on sugar?!

Take it easy and get some rest for Sunday, hope to see you soon!

I am so sorry about your sissy’s divorce, that it so hard. I hope you have a great time in NY and have a great run, a nice easy slow run right?!? :) Be safe and don’t get lost!! I can’t wait to see how your trip goes

I guess my best plane story would be having a horrifickly irritating delay and being rerouted… But then getting a date out of it MONTHS later. Funny how that works, right?

When I’m on planes, I am usually flying overnight, so I try to sleep as much as possible or watch the in-flight movies. Otherwise, I’m all about reading trashy magazines!

Safe travels and I can’t wait to hear about your trip!!!

Those gusher fruit things sound awesome! I want some!

I do crosswords, sleep or read on a flight. Boring.

Have fun in NYC! And, have a fabulous race!

Hey! I just stumbled across your blog and I love it!! Good luck this weekend, you’ll kick butt! I’m living/working in NYC so will try to make it to the meet-up this weekend… am trying to get back into the blogging world!

I had a blog (healthyontherun.wordpress.com) which I started in school but am looking to start up again as I train for my first marathon (was supposed to be Philly this year, but due to an injury have decided to postpone until next May).

Look forward to potentially meeting you this weekend!
