Running around the gym

Really, a HRG post without any pictures?  What happened?

What happened was that I was too busy running around the gym to even think about taking pictures……..

Workout looked a little something like this:

10 minutes elliptical

10 minutes stairclimber level 13

20 push-ups

Repeat three times and each time on the stairclimber I would go up a level!

(A reader asked if I hold onto the rails of the stair climber and my answer is YES, I am quite clumsy and need all the help I can get.  I try not to lay on the rails or put a lot of pressure on them because I want my legs to do the work…..not my hand muscles)

The gym workers asked me to leave after my third round because I was making people want their money back for their membership if a sweaty beast was going to be jumping around like me this morning.

And the part of my day that I am looking forward to the mostest of all……..Billy is coming to school to pick me up with all of our biking gear and we are going up a canyon that I have never ridden before.  Hopefully it is steep because I kind of feel like flying down it and seeing how fast I can go.  Watch out Lance.

WHAT WAS YOUR WORKOUT?

How many push-ups can you do in a row?

-I have made it up to 20……that is a ton coming from a girl that her mother (at age 56) beat her in an arm wrestle.

Do you hold onto the rails on the stairclimber?

I am not sure how many pushups I can do – I might try maxing out today and report back! :)

I am glad that you said you hold on to the rails, because I have almost fallen of when I tried to let go hahah

I like your workout circuit, good inspiration – still gotta go get my sweat on today!

20, that is impressive Janae! I think I can do 12, maybe?! haha
I hold onto the rails as lightly as possible too, but as a klutz it is too dangerous not too!
I am going to run after work!

That sounds like an awesome workout! And I bet it went by kinda fast since you were doing it circuit-style. I did an interval workout on the elliptical and treadmill, and then worked my back and core with weights. I don’t hold onto the rails on the stepmill…otherwise I probably wouldn’t let my legs work as hard haha. Awesome job on 20 push-ups! That’s great :). Have so much fun biking!

I am a girly-style push up pusher. BUT! I have extended my range while doing them. So, I will gloat and say that I can do 15 of them before stopping.

I can do about 15 which is a lot considering I need to seriously work on my upper body strength. On our family vacation this summer, our family had a pushup contest and I couldn’t participate bc my pregnant belly kept touching the floor. However, my cousin who used to be cheerleader and has done gymnastics her entire life showed off her mad skills and did 75 in a minute. She was the winner.

Absolutely. I have to hold onto the rails so I don’t make a fool of myself and fall off. I have witnessed a girl too busy talking on her phone and texting that she wasn’t really paying any attention to her workout and fell. It’s hard not to laugh.

I ran 3 miles this morning and will go back later to do weights.

There is a stairclimber at the gym? Kidding, it is there but I try to avoid it. I did spend the weekend, however, climbing up and down a ladder painting.

I ran 6 miles today. I like the stair climber that is really rolling stairs.

My mom always beats me at arm wrestling. She used to beat my brother too, but then he got jacked, so he beats everyone.

My workout today is going to be speed work at the track after i get out of work.

Have fun on your bike ride!

No workout yet, but it’ll be a 2-3 mile run and an upper body workout.

I’m doing the 100 pushups program ancd I can do 20 or so thus far…this is pathetic coming from a former gymnast. Where did the arm muscle go?!

And I can’t even work the stairclimber at the gym :/ I don’t get it…

OOHH that stairclimber.. i have to hold on too!!
I did 30 minutes of “gun show” class – upper body! and Im planning on running later! :)

I’m up to 42 on my pushups, but it’s taken me a long time to get there, and I still don’t think I always get down low enough (our test is having our chest hit a tennis ball on the ground). But I’m working on them! I did a boot camp class this morning (complete with pushups) and I am going for a social run tonight of about 5 miles. Like you, it’s a double day!

Sounds like killer workout!!! I had spin today……it was pretty awesome!

WHAT WAS YOUR WORKOUT?

— Fully back from vacation w/a speed workout (total of 2.64 miles between warmup/cooldown + speed repeats. Speed was between 9:30-9:45). Followed by a personal training session. Hadn’t had one in 3 weeks, so just trying to restore lost muscle memory!

How many push-ups can you do in a row?

– I think around 18. I usually work in sets of 12-15.

Do you hold onto the rails on the stairclimber?

– I’ve never used the stairclimber; I’m afraid of stairs in general!

I haven’t really tested out my max but the other day I did 7 and wanted to die. I’m following a new program called 7 weeks to 100 pushups. I’m curious to see if it will work for me! I will definitely write a blog post if it does!

I once did 90 push ups in a row. I can’t do that many now, unfortunately! I need to start doing them again. My workout was 11.6 miles on the treadmill gym while listening to This American Life podcast. Love them! What do you normally listen to when you workout?

90….you are my HERO!!! WOW!! Great workout too! I usually watch the TV’s or listen to my iPod. On the elliptical I read!! I need to try a podcast, that sounds awesome!

OMG! I think I have slipped into HRG picture redrawals. I may have to go read old posts to get a fix! Try to never do this again!!!! Enjoy your bike run. Sounds fun.

I’ve been able to get up to 23 push ups. After that my form gets all wonky so I don’t count them anymore.

Today was a rest day for me but you go girl! You are a beast in the gym! You have motivated me to want to join the gym and I am sooo close to actually doing it! The new Gold’s Gym opens in September yay!
I really want to take a Pump class after reading about it on all the Utah girls’ blogs!

I ran 3 miles and took a full body works class today! I DO hold onto the rails or else i’d fall off. I can do a couple real push-ups and a lot of girly ones

the stair climber i’m thinking u mean is called the stair gauntlet at my old gym and i think the name is dead on! i SWEAR that thing will eat me alive, i’m the klutziest dork alive and i always manage to trip on it, so i have to at least hold the rails to stave off an embarrassment disaster. but i’m like u and make sure i’m not hanging on it and ‘cheating.’ :)

Bahahah that is the perfect name for that thing!!!!

Wow…I think I can do like 10 push ups in a row…some small figure, lol! :-P I am very impressed with your number, that’s amazing! :-D Cardio hodge podge workouts like that are awesome, I love swithching up machines, cause it makes the titme fly by and seem less monotonous…just like intervals help, too! :-) I love that you workout before work, it’s so inspiring and motivates me to get up super early and do the same! So thank you for that! You’re a beast, lol! :-D (In a good, positive way :-P) I cannot do the stairmaster to save my life…my knees hate it! Hope you have an amazing day! xyx

Hmm…usually I can do 25 pushups at a time, take a 5 second break, and keep going.
My workout was HIIT for 30 minutes, 10 minute incline walk at 12% and 4.0 mph, then Jillian Michaels kettlebell DVD. I was a sweaty mess!!!

Have a great day!

A few weeks ago, my friend and I challenged my husband to see who could do more push ups. He did 23. I did 25. :)
