Please don’t be jealous over how cool I am.
I was bored to death on the elliptical today and so I decided to take weird pictures for the blog with my ipad. You can do all sorts of crazy things and I will save the others for another day (I don’t want to overstimulate you with awesomeness).
I got ready in the locker room at the gym today and about half-way through my usual 11.4 minutes of getting ready a girl came in and BLASTED her music while she got ready. It is a small locker room and there were older ladies in there that I don’t think really enjoyed listening to Lady Gaga as they are using the restroom or getting dressed.
It was weird. Plus, I am weird because I LOVE music and jam out to it all throughout my workout BUT for some reason I like to get ready in silence. It is kind of my time to unwind and relax again before I am surrounded my a lot of noise at work.
I am telling you this because I want to hear any WEIRD locker room stories that you have or anything that kind of bugs you in the locker room?

I hope I don’t offend anyone, but my weirdest locker room story was walking into a locker room {at a gym I was visiting for the first time} to see 10-12 butt naked pregnant ladies! {Side note: I have never seen a naked pregnant lady or even a pregnant exposed belly in person}. It sort of freaked me out! I thought I might “catch” pregnancy by just being in that locker room bahahha

No joke, you can catch pregnancy where I work. It’s scary. One girl gets pregnant, and suddenly 2 more are.

I am pretty comfortable with nakey people (being a massage therapist and all) but that would have FREAKED me out. Most locker rooms aren’t big enough to contain all that pregnancy!!!

OMG This is hilarious… I am not one to be uncomfortable around nakey people (what with being a massage therapist and all) but I would have to say that would be one AWKWARD situation… That’s a lot of pregger bellies!!

Oh gurl. I go to a gym in a very “free” eastern european and Russian nabe. Even though I AM eastern euro, I am NOT free. Those ladiesclukdnt get any freer or nakey-er. And they just stroll on up to you and strike up a convo naked as the day they were born.

The gym I go to only has 2 hand dryers in the locker room and no paper towels so it drives me INSANE when some ladies use the hand dryer as their own personal hair dryer – I’m talking round brushes and all! So I have to walk out with my hands dripping wet and the paper towel are across the gym!

Someone was playing music in the locker room at my Y recently and I thought it was odd too.
And there is a woman who seemed to like to parade around naked or in her bra and underwear. I understand nakedness is acceptable in a locker room, but she would get naked (or half naked) then do walk around like from the sinks to the scale and back, then to her locker, then to the makeup area then back. Like she wanted everyone to draw attention. One day she did her hair and makeup in just her bra and underwear and I kept wondering why she did that, like wasn’t she going to mess it up when she got dressed, or was she wearing a button-down? Now she brings her teenage daughter with her and has been much more modest.

I am all about modesty and all but I usually don’t get 100% dressed until after I’m ready. I make sure to have my shirt and bra on but usually wait to put on my pants/skirt/cardigan/etc until I’m done because it is always so freaking hot and my body needs to cool down.. But I think a shirt and undies should be the bare minimum.

I have to agree with some of the previous commenters and say nakedness! I once walked into my gym locker room to a roughly 85-year-old women just parading around with not a care in the world or a thread on her body.
Suppose I just prefer a teeny bit of modesty in close quarters!

Earlier this week, an older woman was walking around, naked as the day she was born, after taking a shower. Fine, I can just avert my eyes. But then, THEN, she decided to use one of the complimentary hair dryers to, uh, dry her nether regions. I made a mental note not to use that dryer ever again…

When I lived in Cali and went to the gym before work and got ready there, there was this group of 3 or 4 women who would sit around naked in the locker room chatting for a good 20 minutes. The weirdest part was that I NEVER saw them actually working out haha.
I don’t like when people just assume that it’s OK to play their music loudly when other people are around. It happens to me at work all the time, and it makes me nuts!

i used to workout at a gym that was also a rehab facility and there were TONS of old people that would walk around way naked and stretch on the benches together. maybe that’s normal to other people, but I dont use the locker room very much, so it always grossed me out

I dont mind the nakedness so much as women that bend over with nothing on and stick their butts in my face or dry their hair completely naked, too much jiggling!
My boyfriend said he saw a guy shaving his underarms in the gym locker room one day. Weird.

I feel ya. I love to jam and rock out while I’m working out, but afterwards, when I’m stretching I like it to be silent so I can relax. Last week there was a girl that settled herself next to me on the mats with her music playing out loud. I thought it was so rude. THAT’S WHAT HEADPHONES ARE FOR!

I have two. Where I used to workout there was this woman who would take a hour to get ready from the time she walked in to shower until she walked out. She’d spend the entire time naked! Dressing was the last thing she did. I mean, I know naked people are going to be in the locker room but um…at least put clothes on when you put make up on and you’re not in your house!
Then there was a girl (at this same gym) who kept trying to talk to me in the locker room. But at weird times. She’d always pick the locker right next to mine and she’d talk to me…even if I was half naked. It made me so uncomfortable! I, too, like the locker room time to unwind and relax and I certainly don’t want someone I barely know standing next to me and chatting to me while I’m trying to get dressed!

This image is burned into my brain forever: there was a completely naked lady in the locker room that propped one foot up on the counter, took the community blow dryer, turned it on, and pointed it at her crotch for about 10 minutes.
Do people even do that at home? Is that a thing that I’m not aware of? And why did it take so long to dry? I think after a certain point she was just doing it for fun.

I have anxiety when it’s locker room time! I’m lucky my gym is about 3 minutes away from home so I can hop in the car all sweaty and get ready in the comfort of my own bathroom!
I would have to say that the weirdest thing I have seen is an elderly woman (no joke, she’s about 80 years old and completely saggy and wrinkled) STUFF her bra before her workout. Like actually legit chicken cutlet pads of awesomeness in her workout top. T top it all of, she dresses in neon colors. Simply amazing.

I’m pretty sure if I’d used an ipad while working out, I’d end up shorting it out from sweating so much.
The only locker room etiquette thing I have is that I really don’t want to talk to you if you’re half naked. Please put on a sports bra at least if you’re going to chat.

This morning at my gym: a guy comes in to use the punching bags in the nice quiet big room I was in; its the big room where they do the classes but in the early morning its open, and quiet and nice. He is punching and GRUNTING with every single punch and its just loud and grunty. very annoying. And weird.

I have no problem with people being naked in the locker room, HOWEVER sitting on the stools bare ass naked is gross. Especially after I just had my sneaker up there to tie my shoe… yes, the sneakers I run all around this city in. Think people!!! Do you really want your lady bits resting where my dirty sneaker just was?

I once walked into the locker room at Gold’s to find an aerobics instrutor naked. She is very fit but also kind of old so it scared me a little. I wished that I could hit the rewind button so that I would not have to see such a thing :)

Ugh….at my gym there is this girl (mid-20s) who sits UP ON THE COUNTER, (wait for it….) INDIAN STYLE to do her hair and make-up. This means she is bringing her crotch-i-tocks up to eye level for all the world to see reflected in the mirror. It is the strangest thing in the world to me.

My friends and I used the university gym at UAF and all told stories about the same woman.
She is in her 50s and looks pretty good for her age. She has huuuge fake boobs and 100,000% stoked about them. So much that she’ll put on her makeup, blow dry her hair (in front of the only mirror in the locker room), and style it with a curling iron, all the while she is naked from the waist up. She puts on her pants, socks and and boots (and this was winter in Alaska so it included snow pants and -40F Bunny Boots), but doesn’t bother with anything up from that so we can all admire her investment. And as she goes even further to check others out in the mirror while she’s working to see if we’ve noticed her. Freaked me out.

I live in Austin, TX, which is known for being a little bit of a weird, hippy town. There’s this outdoor spring-fed pool that is awesome for swimming laps at in the morning, and the locker room is outdoors, like an enclosed courtyard. So it’s open to the sky and the floor is a combination of cement paths and grass. On the edges there are individual showers/changing rooms, but there is also a community shower in the middle. The first time I went there and saw all the ladies wandering around naked and showering together while catching up I was SO disturbed. I think the fact that you’re outside made it feel even stranger and more public. Quite the shock for a transplanted South Dakota girl!!

My first time at the public pool for lane swimming I walked in to a communal shower and ran so fast out of there!! I was not expecting all these older women showering together in one big communal shower. The worst part was that they were checking me out while I showered…. weird…

ahaha thanks for pointing out the comments in this post Janae! too good! I once left the steam room at my gym (in my bathing suit) I walked into the change room and noticed an older lady blatantly staring at me… it made me feel super awkward so I put my bra on over my bathing suit and slipped out of my bathing suit while keeping myself covered. At this point she decided it would be appropriate to state: “Did you just put your bra on over your wet bathing suit?? Isn’t that incredibly uncomfortable??!!” Not as uncomfortable as you staring at my girls!!!!

I don’t mind people being naked, I get it, its a changing room… but when people stay naked for a super long time or get all touchy feeling it weirds me out. I just want to change in peace, no wandering eyes or small talk please and thank you haha. The gym I go to when I am visiting family has a “silver fox” swim club, really old people who dance around in the pool. After their “swim” sesh they chill in the locker room, all totally naked, give each other massages, chat it up non stop, hug everyone, show pic of their grandkids, and then EAT, like legit cookies, cakes, fruit salads…. all naked! Totally weird to me, my eyes hurt just thinking about it!

I was on the girls swim team in high school and we all showered naked after all of our practices and meets, so locker room nudity doesn’t bother me at all. With one MAJOR EXCEPTION. I hate it when I’m at my gym and I see women sitting completely bare-butt on the benches in the locker room!!!
People can walk around naked all they want, do their hair and makeup naked all they want, or even strike up a conversation with me while we shower. (It’s open showers, no stalls)
But in the name of all that’s good and decent, sit on a towel when you’re naked.

I am very conservative and always face my locker if I have to be naked for a few seconds. The older ladies don’t seem to mind as they walk around with waist level saggy boobs without a care in the world. One girl though, she must be 20 or so, does the same thing and doesn’t care one bit. She walks completely naked from her locker to the showers with nothing but her flip flops on. She has an incredible body tho. Tall , thin but with an enormous set of boobs. I mean these things look wrecking balls with nipples attached as she walks (bounces) back from the showers. She is from Russia tho so maybe that’s why she doesn’t care about the nudity. Good for her.
