Carb loading for my longest run in 4.5 months:)

June 25, 2011

Billy in a suit= my favorite type of eye candy.  Last night we went to a church thing down in Newport Beach.  The cool ocean breeze felt SO good and all of this humidity in the air has only caused 5/8ths of my face to break out.
IMG 7004

We got back home at about 9 and I was hungry.  So I dove headfirst into these ‘healthy’ chips.  Um, they didn’t taste very healthy to me but they were SO good.  They are (were, they are no longer with us) salt and vinegar flavored.  I think we need to go grocery shopping for another bag of these today.

Serving size, smerving size.

IMG 7006

Good to know that my neck is a completely different shade than my face and chest.  That is attractive.

Chips and cottage cheese, don’t mind if I do.  This may be my favorite cottage cheese combo ever….go figure it isn’t something nutritious like veggies with cottage cheese.  Those chips were one time potatoes right!?!?

IMG 7008

Dinner was a quick one of scrambled eggs, a bagel (bagels always remind me of PRE-RACE FOOD) with butter and jam, cottage cheese with grapes (NOT OLIVES, even though they may have the appearance of evil.)

IMG 7012

And the dog is ending up getting more use out of the home set of weights.  That is just sad.

IMG 7013

Early bedtime for me…….I am getting up early for a SLOW DOUBLE DIGIT RUN (don’t worry, my doctor passed it…..the femurs are good and ready for it).

P.S. yesterday was the first day all summer that I didn’t have ice cream.   Don’t stress, I am not coming down with a terrible sickness, I am sure I will make up for it today.

Bagels remind me of pre-race food too! I’m finally coming back from a hip flexor injury and groin tear (they happened at the same time!!!) and building my long runs back. Ran 16 wonderful miles this morning at 4:00 am (to avoid the Alabama heat). So glad to hear you’re getting to run double digits today! Can’t wait to hear ALL ABOUT IT!!!

OMG, I live for Einsteins cinnamon sugar with the honey almond spread!! We don’t have Einsteins in Canada but every time we go to the States it is our first stop!

YAY!!! I can’t wait to hear about your double digit run! I was going to cop out of running this morning, but now I’m excited to go out and do it :)

I never really liked cottage cheese BUT it’s growing on me. I’ve been stirring peaches into it lately at the chow hall salad bar. I love cinnamon crunch bagels at Panera! It’s my favorite and every chance I get I have to have one. :) Before a run though I have to have toast with A.B. & honey. I have to agree with you on the S & V chips. They’re pretty much awesome! My long run is today and it’s a measly 5 miles. I’ll get to double digits someday :D Good luck with your run today!

I haven’t been too daring with my cottage cheese in the past. I have a brand new tub in the fridge – today I will be creative and see what happens!
In college I lived a little too close to Big Apple Bagel. Yummmmmm. I have too many favorites to mention. In a fair world I should have weighed 1,000 pounds.

The class title is “Cardio/Strength Combo” and the instructor mixes it up. One day we did CardioSculpt, the next we did sports-like intervals (suicides!!! – just like high school!), yesterday was kickboxing-ish with weights, playground balls, and a step. Ouch.

I can’t think of anything savory that I’ve had cottage cheese in, although I wouldn’t be opposed to it.
Salt & vinegar chips are where it’s at. Hands down, the best flavor :)

The only time I’ve ever enjoyed cottage cheese is in lasagna – so I’m looking forward to your recipe!!!!

I have a fave bagel shop – it’s in Charlottesville, VA tho, and I live in RI :-( When I went there in April for a race, I visited Bodo’s Bagels every day. I NEED one of those here, in a BAD way. So, now I settle for Thomas’ honey wheat because the only time I really eat bagels is before a run/race.

I’m TOTALLY with you on the S&V chips, especially if they’re kettle cooked. Yums.

Headed out for a shorty run now to keep the legs limber for my 2nd 20-miler tomorrow – My first marathon in TWO WEEKS! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I love bagels! I’m weird and I’ll eat them plain…usually without toasting them either! I like whole wheat ones, cheese ones, cinnamon raisin ones, blueberry ones…I’m really not all that picky.

I don’t know why, but I just can’t bring myself to eat cottage cheese! Must be the texture. The only chips I actually eat are pita chips…LOVE them with hummus!

I did a 5 miler today (I know, sounds lame compared to your run!), but if my shins are up for it, I’m going to do 14 tomorrow!

Yesterday in my last helping I actually did half sweet, peanut butter, raisins, and some honey nut cheerios mixed in. Then the other half some left over spanish rice and KETCHUP!!

I really want to do a long run tomorrow morning before the plane leaves, we will see if it fits into schedule, hopefully since I doubt I will want to run in 105 degree weather is vegas! And the silly Golden Nugget hotel charges you 20 bucks a day to use their gym… crazy apple heads.

I CANNOT eat cottage cheese unless it is hidden. I have tried and tried and I cannot like it. I can put it on pizza–yay more protein on pizza! and in smoothies.

Despite trying, I can’t get myself to like cottage cheese…I don’t know why. It looks like alien snow to me sometimes!

I love cinnamon raisin as well as everything bagels. They also sell chocolate bagels at a local bakery (picture a chocolate croissant morphed into a bagel), and those are seriously addicting. So I’d say that’s my favorite bagel place ever, but thanks to living in New York, I have a lot of options. =D

I had a race today! It was my first 5k in a year (almost exactly to the day, same race). I PR’d by two minutes with no training. I was ecstatic!
I went kayaking after, too, so it was an all-around fantastic day for fitness.
*tries saying “fantastic day for fitness” five times fast*

The best bagels come from Jewish delis in my opinion. There is a really good one not far from my house. I get the everything bagel. AMAZING! Then add in the lox? If this is what food in Heaven tastes like, I’m ready to go!

I don’t think I’ve ever tried cottage cheese, it always looked a little iffy to me. I should probably remedy that.

My favourite bagels com from Tim Hortons (Canadian version of Dunkin’ Donuts) and are called donuts.

Ketchup faloured chips are my favourite. Yes, I know I’m weird.

And still no running for me, although I may spend 35 minutes fo my life on the elliptical tomorrow. Blech, waste of my life.

Personally I hate cottage cheese. I can’t do it. I’ve tried. With fruit, apple sauce, by its lonesome and I try to like it, but I can’t.

On the other hand, bagels I do love. It’s a toss up between Panara Bread’s Asiago cheese bagel with veggie cream cheese or Dunkin Donuts multi-grain. I should do 1 slice of each.

Chips and I also get along quite well. I too love salt & vinegar, but it doesn’t end there. Doritos, tortilla chips (if that counts), cheetos, and hot molten wing ruffles are also pretty tasty.

Did you see I finally got a blog!!!!!! I’m officially following you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Whoa, I have only known two other people (and they’re sisters) that like chips and cottage cheese. They turned me onto it in high school. Chili cheese fritos and cottage cheese is so good–yum. I love salt and vinegar chips so I’ll have to try your combo this week!

Serving sizes drive me up the wall. Like, cereal for instance. Some are 3/4 of a cup and when I dump that into a bowl, I look at it like it’s going to be served to a toddler. LOL. You’re hilarious! I have crazy runner tan lines too. When my feet are nakie, I look like I have socks on. My left wrist has a white square from my Garmin Forerunner, haha! I’m so glad your long run went well!

I like sweet stuff with my cottage cheese… my favorite is pineapple. My favorite kind of bagel is the cinnamon crunch from Panera. They are fabulous.
