Carb loading for my big run.

After five days of close calls, near Janae-semi truck sandwiches and having to listen to teenagers talk about their crushes for 12 hours a day while teaching drivers ed, I think I deserved a mammoth bowl of fro-yo, fruit and tropical gummy bears.

Plus, I felt like I had to carb load for the marathon that all of these beautiful girls! We took over the and inhaled a combined total of 28.3 lbs of ice cream and toppings.

After fro-yo I sat on my couch while Billy was being responsible and did homework while I tried to think of a way to install a frozen yogurt dispenser next to my pillow.

After Billy spent 3X+4 hours on math homework (X=2) we went over to the slumber party at my parents.  My aunt is running the marathon and so we slept over there so we could all wake up and go cheer on the masses (and run a full three miles, take that femurs).

For dinner I was craving a salad, I don’t know what is wrong with me….I never crave 3 lbs of produce covered with bbq sauce and ranch.

I forgot why we were mad at each other in this photo but I know it was over something important and I am sure I will remember in a few weeks and be mad at him again over it.  Wife of the year goes to me.

Once I got over it and licked my plate clean we went on a hunt for any dessert on the premise.

IMG 6503

My mom always hides things thinking that we won’t find it but look what we have here…..a snickerdoodle frisbee and one creepy husband’s eyeball in the background.

As you know, I am a firm believer of carb loading.  1 frisbee carb heaven should adequately fuel me for my 3 mile run tomorrow right?

Who is RACING?  Any long runs?  Fill me in people!!!!

Favorite type of cookie?

-I think snickerdoodles win…..dough rolled in cinnamon-sugar, yes please.

What time do you usually wake up on Saturdays?

-To teach spin I would always wake up at 8 (I did my long runs on Friday) but now I don’t know what I will be doing!!!

I’m pretty Plain Jane when it comes to my favorite cookie… chocolate chip or M&M… as long as they are soft and chewy, I really don’t care :)

8 mile run for me this morning because next Saturday is my marathon!! eek!

Favorite cookie: I’m pretty easy to please–chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, macadamia, etc., although I have to admit snickerdoodle is one of my lesser favorites–or maybe it is because I’ve never had a good snickerdoodle.

Reply

AHHH YOU ARE GOING TO DO SO AMAZING IN YOUR MARATHON!!! I am THRILLED for you gorgeous girl!
PS I am going to have to send you some of my homemade snickerdoodles and you will fall in love with them!

I got up today around 6:30. I normally wake up at 6 on Saturdays to go to the gym but not today. I wanted to get in a long run before it started to rain. Mid run, it rained. Oh well. I did 10 miles in the rain. It was great! Love running in the rain!

Reply

Yay for THREE!!! Look at how quickly you’re coming back! So awesome :) I definitely remember last fall when I first got to go for 3…that’s when it started to feel ‘real’ again. Love that searching pic! Hahaha! Hope your run is super fun :) I’ve started my 1/2 training plan and this weekend’s run will be 6…probably tomorrow.

I always read your blog, but never comment. I didn’t read your blog yesterday until late and looks like I missed the group by two hours or so at yogurtland. Too bad. I did walk in looking to see if you were there. It was my first time and I LOVED it. My new favorite place.

Favorite cookie is oatmeal cookies but my family doesn’t like them. I end up eating it all by myself and never make them anymore.

Reply

I MISSED YOU AT YOGURTLAND!!! BOO!!! I am expecting you to be there at the next meet-up!! I am SO glad you loved it…it is heavenly right?!?!

I’m missing living in Utah these days with all the races going on this time of year! I’m stuck in 96 degree 85% humidity down here in San Antonio without a plethora of gorgeous, cool mountains to run down. Just a sweaty, humid 10 mile run for me today. Half Marathon next Saturday though! I hope I survive the heat.

Favorite cookie would probably be some kind of mint chocolate one, or macadamia nut with white chocolate. It’s too hard to pick just one.

Saturdays are my earliest wake up days, kind of backwards, I know. I usually wake up sometime in the 6:00 o’clock hour for a long run before it gets too hot!

You made me crave frozen yogurt. Again. Your blog has a way of doing that to me. :) I might have to go get some.

Reply

COME BACK TO UTAH!!! Congrats on your 10 miler..you rock!! YOUR 1/2 IS NEXT SATURDAY, you are going to do amazing!!
Mint chocolate cookie=heaven! Go get some fro-yo!

GOOD LUCK out there!! :) i’m sure that topping up those glycogen stores with a mondo cookie did you good! that’s awesome how much all you gals were able to put down at yogurtland, that’s some poundage!

my fav cookies are chocolate chocolate chip ones that are super thick, doughy, and if possible still warm. as for waking up on sat’s, if i don’t have to be up for anything i don’t set an alarm and just roll out whenever i get up. :)

Reply

i like to sleep in on saturdays. I woke up today around 9:30 which I’m embarrassed to say in this early rising blog world, but it felt great!

btw, that cookies looks fantastic! I love oatmeal raisin cookies- but made with chocolate chip cookies instead of raisins!

I did my first run in a week today – just 5.3K but it was great! My ankle’s been bugging me all week though, and it was bugging me today too. I had an X-ray done last week and a doctor’s appointment this week, so here’s to hoping it’s nothing big..

I think Oreos…although I’ll take a brownie over a cookie any day.

I usually wake up around 8am to go for a run, but today I woke up at 8:30am because I couldn’t sleep last night…so excited about the Canucks’ win last night. One more!!

Reply

AWESOME RUN!!! Bummer about your ankle….I am praying for you. Oreos are amazing!! GO CANUCK’S!

Reply

Thanks! I don’t think it’s anything major but because the pain goes right up on my bone that doctor’s a little worried…and you’re a Canucks fan?! I didn’t think it was possible to love you any more than I did before, but I do!

I don’t set my alarm on Saturday mornings, and just let myself wake up when I wake up. Usually it turns our to be around 7:00 am, but I try to force my self to sleep for an extra 15 min or so!

I have my first half marathon tomorrow!! North Shore Half Marathon :) So excited!

I also love snickerdoodles :) But peanut butter with hersheys kisses are equally amazing.

I usually wake up between 8-9:30 on Saturdays depending on what I’m doing.

OH! GOOD LUCK to all the Utah runners!! Froyo= a solid 3 miles during the marathon. I can’t wait to hear how everyone did!

I ran 12.5 miles this a.m.–it was finally perfect here! Ahh, weathe totally impacts my runner’s high!

Reply

GREAT RUN GIRL and I am so so happy that the temps were perfect!! PS move here to Utah…okay, thanks:)

Reply

My long run is tomorrow – 8 miles. I’ve got a new route to try out which is 7.35 miles according to the guide. But given I get lost very easily, and I’m starting at a slightly different place, it should end up being 8. Or I’ll just run up and down random streets to make it 8. I always look ridiculous doing that, because I want to hit exactly the distance – no waste!

I’m a little excited/nervous for the run. No idea why – I’ve done this distance and longer. Maybe because I am running a new route? And it’s supposed to rain? I don’t know. I just know that I will feel awesome when I’m done!

Reply

YOU ARE GOING TO DO AMAZING ON YOUR 8-MILER!! Will you let me know how it goes!!! RAIN AND A NEW ROUTE….that will just make things exciting:)

Reply

This Saturday morning I got up at 5:15 for a blogger event in NYC :)

I woke up today at 6, so I could eat breakfast and walk the dog before my running group. Is that a sign that I’m a grown up or just a runner?

I’m so jealous of your meetups! Looks delicious and fun!

My favorite cookies are probably oatmeal raisin, but I just made a giant batch of chocolate chip :)

Reply

A runner….let’s never grow up!!! Send me some of your cookies, or at least the recipe:)

Reply

AHHHHHHHH! you are soo soo soooooo fabulous! I loved seeing you today girl! Thanks so much for everything!

Reply

my dad always hid the treats and snack foods too! If he kept them out there would be nothing to pack in lunches and absolutely no sweets left after a day. I’m on a lemon cookie kick right now!

Reply

The way he’s eyeballing your salad… I would be mad too! I’m kind of mad for you.

I’m running a 5k tomorrow. I’m kind of excited, since I feel a PR in my bones. And I carbo-loaded like no ones’ business! Cake is the perfect carb before a race, right?

Reply

I’m so late commenting here….sorry, but I only stalk you during the week and during work hours. :0) I had a long run on Saturday – 6 miles. I know that is not loooonggg, but I’m getting there! Doing the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco in October with Team in Training (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) and Saturday was our first team run. 6 miles was my beyoch AFTER the first 2 miles of severe cramps in my outside calfs!

P.S. I’m terrible at carb loading….can you do a post of your top 10 favorite things to eat before you run a race or long run? Pretty please?!? Also, I as thinking on Saturday how you were looking for post suggestions….I’d say you should write one on how you get through the mental game called running. I am my own worst enemy right now and could use some PERFECT Janae advice! :0)
