And you thought I died……..

******I don’t know what I did wrong in life but no running and 24 hours of no blogging (especially after this post, oh wait I can’t link my addiction to blogging post because they deleted it, boo)……..I seriously didn’t know what to do with my life.  It hurt.  Blogger was having issues and down all day long, don’t worry…I wrote them my fair share of hate mail and refreshed blogger at least 3,495,499,99 times.  I ate a lot of chocolate to get through this tough time and now it is back and I feel better than ever.
So, here is the post that I meant to post yesterday afternoon….enjoy!!!!

As I was eating my delicious pb/banana toast I was remembering the fact that as a kid I HATED peanut butter, with a passion (unless it was covered with chocolate and given to me in the shape of an Easter egg).

It made me remember the foods that I hated as a kid and now I could not live without them……….

*******You may ask why I didn’t like these foods and the simple answer is that my sister didn’t.  Yep, and 99% of these foods she still doesn’t like and wouldn’t come within five feet of them.  No joke, she doesn’t like peanut butter to this day.  Do not fret, I eat enough for her and her family and probably the next four generations of her family.  Once my brain fully developed (still working on that one) and I tried them for myself I realized that they are the most delicious things in the world.

I thought you might like a picture of me chomping away on my breakfast.  You are welcome.  Note to self:  Maybe I should go to a manners class to learn how to eat in a way that does not resemble a cows method of chewing.

Hot Dogs.  I thought they looked like rubber as a kid and now I LOVE going with Billy to J-dawgs (okay, so it has to be a specialty hot dog, not just any ordinary hot dog and it has to have more toppings than can actually fit in the buns.  Oh and the buns have to be super soft and fluffy).
IMG 1443

If you have read my blog for at least 2 days you know that I have a strange love for broccoli, almost a love affair with the stuff.  As a kid, I HATED it…….can’t blame my sis for this one but I can blame my lovely mother.  She still won’t go near it and gets mad at me when I stink up the house and roast it with 14 cloves of garlic.

Now I get broccoli for Christmas presents from the in-laws…..okay, it is a long story but you can read about it here.
IMG 3157

I know you aren’t going to believe this one but once again I blame the gorgeous sissy of mine…….I didn’t like fish!!! Technically, I didn’t ever try ANY until I was a teenager and instantly fell in love with all things fish…..salmon, tilapia, coconut encrusted tilapia, fish sticks, tuna, sushi, sashimi….you name it, I will eat it (except cat fish is just wrong on the tastebuds).  I never claimed to be normal and the best restaurants in the world involve eating with your hands and require a bib.
IMG 3323

Please note the red mark on my neck is not actually sauce splattered but a zit that refuses to go away for longer than 24 hours…there must be a sweat gland or something right there.

I also hated tomatoes and one time when a sibling was babysitting (I won’t mention any names here) they made me stay at the table until I ate them all and the gushing of the cherry tomatoes made me sick.   Now as an adult (if you can call me that) I could eat one like an apple.
The End 29

And for the grand finale……the only food that I didn’t like as a kid that I still despise with every fiber of my being…..
IMG 3531

OLIVES.  This picture of my niece eating four at a time actually makes me a little queasy.

If one even touches my Subway sandwich I will ask for a new one……once the flavor has been absorbed into anything else I am eating, it is ruined.  I don’t get very hot-headed about many things but this one I know for sure- olives, stay far away from me.

One thing that I loved as a child, loved ever since and will always have a not-so-secret obsession for is CANDY!!!!

You probably think this is awkward that I am posting a comment on my own blog but I was just making sure the comments work and no one had commented for a while so I decided to make myself feel cooler and tell myself how awesome I am.

I am EXACTLY the same way about olives. Dear Lord I hate them. I hated tomatoes as a kid but love them now, in all forms. I wasn't always sold on beans in general either, but I chow on them now. As far as losing blog posts, I feel your pain. At least I know I wasn't the only one.

I always said that I hated pizza and peanut butter. Pizza because my brother loved it and always wanted to go to Pizza Hut on family nights out. I figured by hating pizza that he couldn't get what he wanted. Yeah, I won sister of the year. In my defense, though, he broke/bent my hula hoop.

As far as PB, I just remember disliking PB&J sammies that my baby-sitter made. I think I rejected them so I could have cream cheese and jelly.

Gosh, I was a brat!

I used to hate HATE tomatoes too. I also used to hate split pea soup and now I LOVE it! I have always loved bread and butter. I could live off of bread and butter.

Reply

Haha love your comment there!! :D

Eww I hate olives too! BLECH!! I used to hate bananas, and now I can't live without them!! Especially when paired with PB and toast…! ;) Oooh, and veggies!! I was a veggie HATER but now they are almost as tasty as chocolate and nut butter:)

Reply

I hate olives, always have. Tried to like them since Dan loves them, but they are just little salty nasties.

I didn't like asparagus or brussel sprouts as a kid, now I like them.

Reply

I hate olives! And bananas and mushrooms) Everything else, bring it on! I never used to like tomatoes as a kid either, but now I love them!

Omg I was refreshing blogger over and over again too! Soooo happy it's back! It's awesome you posted immediately !

I did the same stuff with food as a kid! What ever my brothers didn't like I didn't either. I clearly wanted to be exactly like them haha :)

Hated onions and green/red peppers as a kid. Still hate them!

I have grown to enjoy many vegetables though so I have made progress.

Oh my gosh! The fact that Blogger was driving me bonkers! And I lost my post from yesterday, so sad…so I just had to recap what I think I wrote about lol

Reply

I used to not like any vegetables except carrots olives and sometimes broccoli. And now vegetables are like 90% of what I eat(the other 10% being chocolate, of course)

What the hay blogger?! They really cramped my style and totally messed with my routines!

MMM- how can you live without kalamata olives? Black olives aren't so great but maybe you could try some other kinds!! (;

If you ever have a surplus of broccoliciousness that you can't keep up with- send it to georgia; I never have enough! (;

Happy healing! xo

Blogger had SERIOUS issues for forever it seemed! I'm so glad you're back and that Blogger is too! And I didn't like broccoli as a kid, but like it now; didn't like tomatoes, still don't, didn't like olives, still don't. Olives, ewwwwwwwwwwwwww………

I DESPISE olives as well. Bleh.

And I almost broke up with Blogger over this little mishap. I was beside myself with what to do with all my free time since I couldn't blog or read blogs. Glad that's over.

Ugh do not get me started on Blogger. It made me so mad today!! But all is well with the world again, as long as it stays up!

I actually HATE hot dogs. They remind me of my years in day care, when that was the only thing they fed us.

Today, the only form I can stomach them in is corn dogs. Now those are delicious :)

I also hated dark chocolate and running when I was younger. What was wrong with me??

Reply

i HATE olives, and my husband's family LOVES them, they put them on erething! bah! i'll allow them on my pizza but only if i'm distracted by tons of delicious meat and cheese. it's funny that you say broccoli, as a kid i wouldn't go near it but then i ate at a friend's house and her dad made this delicious broccoli and cheddar omlette and since then i crave the stuff. i CANT BELIEVE BLOGGER WAS DOWN SO LONG! it felt like i was mentally starving. also, i told myself i would NEVER eat sushi when i was a child and then two years ago for the first time EVER i tried it and now i am hooked baaad.

Reply

I used to love black olives but now I just don't care for them at all.

I'm just now getting to where I kind of like tomatoes, though they are definitely not my favorite.

I'm so glad you are back!!!!!!!!!!!! I missed you!

Love the comment you left for yourself. :)

Um, I HATE olives. I tried to like one a few weeks ago, and just no. It was pretty sick nasty. I have always hated tomatoes but I am trying to learn to like them. I have made some steps towards improvement and now I can eat them if they have been cooked or are with something else (aka pizza) but never raw or by themselves yet! Haha!

I hate olives! and I am Italian…so my family puts olives in everything! but I agree…the juice soaks into everything. Even if I ask for a salad with no olives I can still taste them…yuck.

Reply

I used to hate green vegetables and now I can't get enough of them!!

I eat peanut butter banana toast with honey for breakfast a ton..looks so good. I use almond butter sometimes too.

My boyfriend's friend caught a salmon yesterday and he is grilling up some fresh salmon tonight, YUM, and I hated that as a kid too!

Reply

wow, and I thought I was weird for hating olives so much. It makes me so angry in a restaurant if I look at the salad description, scrutinize each ingredient, decide I like what I see then it comes out and OLIVES are on it. AAAAH. Hubby says just pick them off no big deal etc. but the flavor is everywhere.
When I was a kid I used to not like vegetables of any sort, except potatoes and peas for some reason. Now I love vegetables.

Reply

The only thing I really remember hating as a child was liver (still hate it) and tuna (still don't care for it). I used to hate peas, but I actually like peas now (only on salads though). My mom used to be really messy with how she served us kids our food, so the applesauce would run into the cottage cheese, and the cottage cheese would run into the pork chops, etc. ugh…I can't stand for my food to touch – still to this day it drives me crazy. I am known to take paper towels to make sure my food doesn't touch or run into each other. A little OCD, I know:)

Do you know if they will have those posts back up?? Yikes, I worked hard (for a mom of 3 with little time) on my Kara Goucher book giveaway post! Ugggh! I'm so irritated!

The Great Blogger Blackout of 2011. One for the ages.

I'm actually the opposite. When I was little I would try anything at least once. I was up for eating anything and everything. Now that I've gotten older, I'm still up for trying anything. But I've become such a picky eater. I will eat olives, but only once they have been cut up. I don't eat red meat. I hate the texture of yogurt and cold cheese (but luckily my lactose intolerance covers that one up so I don't have to explain it).

Reply

I used to not like garlic, seafood and hot dogs. I still can't do tomatoes, mushrooms and olives.

How can anyone not like peanut butter? It's ooey, gooey gold. :-P

Reply

so glad u didnt die!! umm i hated asparagus and some veggies.. nowi LOVEEEEEEEE EM!!! and i love you!

Reply

I used to hate fish. It was a texture thing. Over the past 2 years I have very slowly started to like it. And mushrooms I used to not like them but now love them. I do eat tomatoes like apples too mmm so good!

I get zits in that same spot! (weird I know) I bet there is some sweat gland there.

Reply

I used to love olives and eat them the same way your niece is, but now i HATE hate hate them as much as you probably do. I used to hate pickles, now I like them. Tomatoes, used to hate and now like them.
i never have and never will like cucumbers or celery. people don't understand that one because "they have barely any taste", but I can absolutely tell if celery has even touched something.

Reply

Blogger is on my LIST right now, and they deleted my last post as well. LAME MOVE BLOGGER.

I can't think of a food that I used to hate and now love. I can tell you that I've ALWAYS hated broccoli in any form. The only way I can maybe manage it is in broccoli cheddar soup, but not always. I have always hated cooked spinach as well. Blech. I will definitely eat it raw by the handful though.

Reply

I used to not like a lot of vegetables growing up, but the only thing I still hate is onions. I totally agree with your comment too that if it touches any other food I'm eating the flavor is absorbed and it's ruined. I literally cringe at the thought of them!

Btw, I found your blog from your post on PB Fingers and I've been obsessed ever since! Love it :) Have a great weekend!!

Reply

ive never liked asparagus…i still dont! it looks so good though i try it every time i see it…but nope, still dont like it!

Reply

SOOOO glad you're back! Missed you, girlie! I used to not like spinach & green peppers & wheat bread & lots of other vegetables but now I love them!

Reply

Unless it was corn, carrots, or potatoes, I wouldn't touch veggies when I was a little kid. Now, I LIVE for veggies and probably eat at least a few pounds of them a day. Except for eggplant and zucchini. No and no to both.

And I'm totally with you on the olives. They're just… no.

Reply

I HATE olives too..which sucks because I love Greek salads and I always have to request no olives. They ruin everything! I was so picky when I was little, which is funny because I eat like everything now.

Reply

Lucky me, I've never really met a food I didn't like! haha but I used to hate brussels sprouts. Stereotypical I know, but now I like them enough to eat them :) One thing I really don't like is Water Chestnuts…don't like the texture. One of my favorite meals is my aunt's seven layer salad but it has water chestnuts in it so I have to pick them all out and give them to my mom to eat. However, I HATEEEEE pimento cheese. Like I wouldn't think that if it had the word cheese in it that I would hate it…but I think pimento cheese looks and tastes like barf. haha you're welcome for that description.

Reply

I never really had many foods that I didn't like… except shrimp, which I now love!
One thing that I used to like and now can't stand are hot dogs, because one year my mom made them because we had some friends coming over with kids, so we had hot dogs for lunch that day and the next. And the next night, we went to a friend's house and they made hot dogs! I haven't had one since. :P

Reply

I hate olives too! I don't remember really hating much as a kid! Though in the last few years I have been adventurous and tried alot of new foods I would have never ate before – and now love trying new things. Except olives, I will never love those ;)

Reply

I hated mushrooms as a child, I still cannot eat them unless they are cooked and mixed in to something.

Reply

Loved black olives as a kid…I think it was the one on each finger game really, but now can't stand them. I may be as big a brocolli fan as you- I eat those Costco bags like there's no tomorrow and am always trying to air the house out when we have company & I've just roasted some with red onion & garlic-funny, not everyone likes it like me :)

Reply

There are a lot of foods I hated as a kid that I like now. I was the oldest, so I can't blame siblings, and I love everything my mom hates (like strawberries and chocolate…sometimes I think we're not related;), so I can't blame her, either. I guess just growing taste buds? A few I can think of are tomatoes (used to HATE them), hummus, beans…I think there are more but I can't remember. Now I love all of those things! And I used to LOVE olives as a kid (I think because my dad ate them all the time), but I think I ODed on them because now I hate them, too!

Reply

Oh my goodness, going to make this a post of my own :D (about foods I didnt like)

24 hours without a picture of you and ice cream was almost too much to bear.

Reply

When I was little I hated asparagus, olives, tomatoes and mushrooms. Now I love them all except olives. I can tolerate them, but barely.

Reply

I used to hate tea. I tried it at a friend's house and had to spit it out because I thought it was so terrible. Now I drink like 8 cups a day, it's ridiculous.

Reply

My mother and I had a huge fight (her yelling at me to stop being ridiculous and me laying on the floor crying no no no)in the middle of walmart because I wouldn't try a snickers bar! I said I didn't like them. She wouldn't give up. It got ugly!!

I didn't like cooked carrots or broccoli as a kid, but I love them now.

I still don't like jelly or syrup tho! (i know i know- i am a freak!)

Reply

I hated tomaters as a kid too. AAAAND fish. Now I love fish and can stand a tomato or two on my salads and burgers, but wouldn't eat one by itself (I'll leave that to yoooou).

BUT I've always loved musrooms and olives! Especially black olives. Yumyumyumyumyum.

Reply

I hated mushrooms, fish, and avocados. I adore mushrooms now. I eat fish just not shell fish and still hate avocados. No guac for me!!!

Reply

I hated tomatoes and mushrooms both of which I now LOVE!

As a kid I always hated corn and I love corn with salt and pepper. I also hated potatoes but I still hate them to this day :)

I almost had to see a shrink b/c blogger was down for so long I thought I was having a panic attack.

HATED lima beans. Still do. I really don't know anyone who likes them. They should prob just be eliminated from earth.

Reply

I've never had a liking for fish and don't think I ever will. I despised mushrooms as a child and I still do. There is probably more I don't eat now than when I was younger since I have more knowledge of what is really in my food.

PS. I love how you tell me I'm gorgeous in all of the comments you leave on my blog when you are really the one that is a dream model even when you're chomping on toast. You make my day every day and I want to come to UTAH right now! utah has never been on my travelling list, mainly because I never knew anything about it. Now that I know the funniest, fastest, and most gorgeous girl lives there I might just have to visit!!!

I was refreshing my blogger a million times, thank god I saved my post i was writing when it went down in Word (lost all my pictures though!).

As a kid, I hated any type of chocolate that wasn't white…now I am no longer a fan of white and drool over the darkest chocolate you can find me! I also didn't like tomatoes at all, but now I can do cooked and some fresh (in a sandwich or salad).

I had the opposite happen to me on a lot of foods though actually – i loved mayo and ham and now i despise both…

I get broccoli as gifts too! Love it. And I can't even smell it when I cook it. But my family doesn't love it when I cook it every.single.day.

Reply

I don't like olives either! Never have, probably never will :)

Reply

I am so glad you like fish & peanut butter now! I've always hated olives too. I tried some supposedly "really good" olives a few months ago just to see if liked them now, and I gagged.

Reply

cottage cheese grosses me out more than you'll ever know! and the feelings you have about olives is how i feel about pepper! my mom used to make my scrambled eggs first before the rest of the fams because i hated pepper so much, that if it even touched my food i couldn't eat it. mike acts like he puts pepper in everything he makes now, but if he puts too much on, i REFUSE (brat, i know) to eat it. i hate the taste! it's too much for me! BLECH!

Reply

I am so glad blogger is back. I have missed you so bad I've had to stuff my sorrows with icecream and pizza.

I was SOOOO picky as a kid and have gotton over most of it. However I still hate hamburgers and hotdogs. Good thing people bring salads and watermelons to BBQ's or I might starve. Heaven for bid that happen.

I hope to see you today bestest friend. Oh I am just so giddy with excitement that blogger is back. :)

too cute! I cant believe she doesnt like PB!! Thats crazy. As a kid, I think I ate everything. And I still do! EVEN OLIVES!!

New here and love your blog. Your self portraits are to die for!! I have got to learn how to take better ones.

Love this post. I actually used to hate olives as a kid and now I can tolerate most of them. I can definitely see where they are an acquired taste, definitely not for everyone.

Reply

Glad that you're back!! :)

I didn't like eggs, oatmeal and fish when I was a kiddo! But, now they are my favorite!! My daughter doesn't have an eclectic palate yet…she doesn't believe me when I tell her it'll change when she gets older! Usually, it does!!

"Have a Happy Friday!!" :) xoxo

Reply

I hated tomatoes, too! And lima beans. And melted cheese. I know, I'm not a regular person as I still don't like melted cheese…or any cheese for that matter. I would scrape all the cheese off my pizza as a kid and finally my dad got sick of me wasting the cheese and would just add it to his slice. Free extra cheese! And we were both happy. :)I've always despised onions – I feel the same way about them as you do about olives. Happy weekend! Glad your blog is back! xoxo

Reply

Ew the olives made me a bit nauseous at the end! I can't stand beans like kidney beans. The texture, the taste, the everything. I just instantly gag whenever I have them.
I also didn't like tomatoes but now I can eat them like apples! I had to start out with VERY thin slices but now I'm eating them like apples

Reply

I also hated peanut butter, even up to a about a year ago! I gagged at the taste of it, right from when my mother introduced it to me as a baby. Yes, GAGGED!

I went from eating the chocolate peanut butter variety and then added peanut butter to my baked goods. I could deal with that, eventually, but plain, NO WAY! I now add it to smoothies, and really only eat it when it melts on hot toast. I think it's the texture that bothers me the most, so if it's mixed into something or it's melted a bit, I can eat it!

I also really hate olives, too. I try cooking with it and then not eating them but I just can't do it. Same with mushrooms.
And I'm sorry to say, but I don't like raw tomatoes. I can eat, like, one slice or a few cherry that are dipped in a lot of dressing but that's it.

Reply

OLIVES here too. ALL DAY LONG. No way, no how. I cannot even look at them.

Reply

Oh girl, I'm totally with ya on the olives. Still can't stand 'em. Ewwwww ;)

Reply

I'm with you on the sibling situation. Also with friends who told me something was gross, I would rethink my enjoyment for it and quickly decide it was in fact not very tastey. When something sounded weird or it was a known fact that most people didn't like it (spam, anchovies, etc.) I would say I hated it even if I never tried it… I still do that sometimes.

Reply

I hated eggs as a kid (especially runny ones), now I love them. I think the texture grossed me out. And potato pancakes, but I still to this day cannot stand them – very rare for me these days. I'll eat pretty much anything if it's prepared well.

I always LOVED all fish though, even when I was little.

Reply

Oh my god I was the fussiest eater EVER as a kid. I basically lived on only white foods – white bread, rice, plain pasta, butter, and potatoes.

Now i eat EVERYTHING. And some of my favourite foods are my most hated from childhood – broccoli, brussels sprouts… basically all veggies actually, OLIVES (sorry :p), garlic, every fruit ever, anything grainy/wholewheaty/seedy, black rye bread, suuuuuper strong/sharp cheese.
NOTHING is safe around me any more :)
