Slobbery Kisses and Vanilla Beans.

April 18, 2011

It looks like my niece is about to land on her neck but don’t worry she landed on her back.  My brother is an ER doctor and he says trampolines, long boards and rollerblades keep him in business.

The tramp is totally worth it though and the number two reason I am livid at my femur is because I had to watch from the deck.  I am the trampoline queen. You should see my double back flip.

IMG 5454

Then we headed inside for a dinner made by the sister.  Rice, a honey chicken/veggie stir fry and some bbq chicken and potato crackpot creation that I brought.  I felt like I ordered a healthy version of Panda Express’s two item meal….all we needed was a styrofoam divided plate.

IMG 5449

After dinner my bro-in-law (sissy’s husband) threw a tantrum because we wouldn’t make him ice cream (mainly because we didn’t have the ingredients). I thought that I had issues about my ice cream cravings.

IMG 5451

After dinner my mom treated me to a head massage.  I didn’t think my hair was that dirty until I saw this picture and the right side of my head looks like I spilled baby powder all over it.  Head massages are my favorite but next time mom you should wear gloves because who knows what is in that rats nest.

IMG 5452

Dessert was a crazy delicious vanilla bean cake and I promise it is somewhere beneath the strawberries and cool whip.

IMG 5455

Slobbery kisses are my favorite.

IMG 5458

The bro-in-law did his first marathon on Saturday and I had to take a picture of him limping down the stairs….I am sure you all know that feelingafter a hard race- man, those stairs hurts.

IMG 5460

Overall, Sunday night dinner was a success and it helped me forget about the fact that I should have been laying out all my gear, hydrating, and hitting the hay early to catch the bus to Hopkinton.  Next year right:)

Running isn’t going anywhere and it will always be there waiting to be my best friend again and to spend every morning with me frolicking through the roads (or treadmill for 8 months of the year).

GOOD LUCK BOSTON RUNNERS!!!!

Did you have a trampoline growing up? Do you have one now?

-Yep until we moved and then I lived on my neighbors tramp.  Literally, thank you Swensons, Mckells and Sorensons for allowing me to spent 3/4ths of everyday in your backyard.

What did your mom do for you when you were little/teenager/now to comfort you?

-She gives the best head massages and my whole body goes limp when she does.

Tell me about the time that you have been the MOST SORE from a race/workout?

-After my first marathon I literally stayed in bed all day long because I was so sore and made Billy wait hand and foot on me and I considered 4 limb amputation.

What a fun day! I loved my trampoline so much, I wish I still had one–I would rock it now! :)

Dude if you swim enough, your hair doesn't get dirty. It's true. My shampoo budget is nearly zilch.

I remember being pretty miserable after a 200 fly that I took out too fast – while racing at an altitute of 7500 feet. I was totally numb at the end.

Never had a tramp growing up but plenty of neighborhood friends did. So I survived. ;)

My parents would rub my face. From my forehead to my cheek, in a 'c' motion, oh my word. Puts me to sleep just thinking about it.

I think i was most sore after Top of Utah last year. We had to go down stairs at our hotel. I literally thought i was going to have to get on my hands and knees and crawl. Stairs suck.

Have a good day gorgeous girl!

I loved our trampoline! I never managed to tackle my fear of back flips though.

I was the most sore after my first (and so far only) marathon. I didn't even attempt the stairs!

My parents never let us have a tramp when we were growing up. We were all fairly accident prone, so we didn't want to make things worse. My mom did teach us to climb trees though!

I think the most sore I've ever been was the first bodypump class I took after my honeymoon. I thought I could still use the same weights after taking two weeks off…big mistake!

I'm way too clumsy for a trampoline! I got hurt on one at a gymnastics class when I was 4 and refused to ever go back :)

Looks like a good dinner! And a fun night!

I am sore from my FIRST TEN MILER ever that I ran yesterday!! My first half marathon is May 1st and I am running it with my marathoner Dad, I am so so excited. It's okay love, Boston will be waiting for you next year and you WILL GET A SUB 3 time!!! You are so so fast and dedicated, I look up to you in so many ways. If one day I could be half the runner you are, I would be satisfied. You are amazing Janae, and don't feel bad about being home because just think to yourself: heh heh they have no idea that I am going to WHOOP their asses next year!

I had a trampoline growing up and I always tried to be so cool with all the neighborhood boys because I was a tom boy. They would all wrestle and beat each other up on the trampoline but inside I was secretly scared I was going to knock my teeth out or something!

That strawberry dessert looks SO GOOD! I usually only like chocolate desserts but oh my that looks pretty tasty.

Have a good Monday!!

We didn't have a trampoline, but I made the bad decision to go one a few times… and I am so extraordinarily uncoordinated that I managed to dislocate my knee… get this, on my EYE SOCKET. So I had a bum knee and a black eye. :)

Dessert looks loverly, can't wait for June to go strawberry picking.

Trampolines are so fun! I'm just always afraid of being double bounced and then flying off of them uncontrollably. But flipping on them is my favourite!

Can I come over for dessert?! That looks scrumptious!

We had a trampoline growing up but we had to take it down because the insurance company said they wouldn't insure my family if we kept it up. Crock of bs if you ask me, that thing is fun!!

The second marathon was worse for me than the first. I ran harder so I suppose that makes sense. I cried twice the next day because going down stairs was pure agony. BUT, of course it was soooo worth it!

My mom would rub my back and talk to me like a 5 year old. Oh wait, she still does that when I feel bad :)

Laura April 18, 2011 at 8:03 am

Jealous! We weren't allowed to have a tramp. I was in gymnastics and my parents knew I would be doing all kinds of crazy flips on it when they weren't around to "supervise"…

Did you have a trampoline growing up? Do you have one now?

We have a fifteen footer! My whole family loves it. I was up there for dinner at the weekend and my nana casually goes 'don't you think you should get rid of the trampoline? Youre all too old for it!' (my youngest sibling is 20). Everyone, including my mum and dad, just stared at her like 'no…'. ha ha!

What did your mom do for you when you were little/teenager/now to comfort you?

My mum STLL stokes my eyebrows when I'm tired or sad or stressed around her since she used to use it to get me to sleep.

Tell me about the time that you have been the MOST SORE from a race/workout?

After my first ever 10k, which shows how far ive come in 2 yrs since im never sore after them now!

Love the trampoline. Like I would spend hours on end on that thing as a child and still do from time to time.

I was SOOOO sore after my 1st half marathon. 2,000 ft elevation drop did a number on my body. I literally thought I couldn't move the next day. Somehow I survived. :)

Ah! I think the most sore I have ever been was after my first IBJF workout at Red Rocks. This guy, Joe, does this free, 3-hour workout on the weekends, using nothing but the amphitheater and the surroundings. He is insane, and I literally couldn't even brush my hair the next morning, I hurt so bad! The great part about his workouts is that they never get static either–I'm ALWAYS mad sore the next day! (The website is http://itburnsjoefitness.com/ if anyone is ever around Denver and wants to try it!)

The most sore I have ever been was after my first 1/2 marathon. I thought I was dying. Second up would be after my mini triathalon in college – going out to "celebrate" our finish that night was painful. Annnd the start of preseason for basketball every year in college was pretty painful as well. For a week you could tell who the basketball players were on campus because we all were walking around like we had something stuck where it didn't belong!

Glad you are still staying so positive!!! Def thinking about you today girl! :)

I love your family. I want to come hang out! My mom tickles my back, and she's just always there to talk to which is very comforting. The sorest I've ever been was after my 1st half marathon. I didn't know it was possible to be that sore, but that was the turning point when I started foam rolling!

We did have a trampoline! It was so fun. And it made a great alternative to a lawnchair for laying out on when I got older! And we didn't have a net around it. Nets are for sissies.

When I was younger (oh, who am I kidding? I still do it) I would beg whoever was around into scratching my back. That was/is the most soothing feeling!

My mom massages my head too! It's my favorite.

The sorest I have ever been was (this is going to sound lame), but I was at a cheerleading competition, and we had just gotten done with half our routine, and ended in a stunt. Our music didn't start so we just stuck it up there for 2 minutes waiting for it to start (why we didn't cradle out, idk) . Those 2 minutes seemed like the longest in my life. Holding a girl above your head for 2 min doesn't seem like that long, but it was! The next day I felt like my arms were going to fall off.

After my first half marathon, it hurt to go down the stairs!!! I was surprised that going down was worse than going up, but I guess you use different muscles to stop yourself.

And recently, I bought a pair of Vibrams and running fore-foot HURTS because my muscles aren't used to it! So I'm recovering from that :)

NEXT YEAR – you are the celebrity I am going to watch at the Boston :) Please do some marathons in Canada once you're super famous so that I can get your autograph :)

I love trampolines, I never had one but my neighbors did as a kid so I was always able to go and jump on it! I will never forget my first 6 mile race, I raced on pavement and my shins were sore for days!
When I was little my Mom used to always read to me late at night and sit with me in my bed.

I was defintely the most sore from my first marathon- the Disney Marathon. I had gotten a knee injury halfway through training and almost didnt go- but decided the week before to run it through for the pure joy of it. I ended up qualifiying for Boston and ran it the following Spring.

After Disney I took a 3 hours nap and woke up and limped to the litchen to eat half a jar of PB w Pretzels. I guess my body needed salt ;)

Go Luck Boston runners:) You have such a positive attitude- you are right, you can always run it next year!

Hi I have ready your blog now & again & now I find myself constantly coming back you're so funny. I think you're having a really good optomisitc attitude about the Bostom Marathon, running will always be there, all tho I am sad for you too.

P.s. I think I am equally as obsessed with Yogurtland. Its kind of a problem, and they don't have marshmellows as a topping at ours, maybe I should start bringing my own b/c that sounds great! :)

I haven't run any long races, so I've never been sore from a race. My worst soreness ever was after my recent 10 miler, which caused my hip to swell up and feel like it was snapping. No bueno.

I was not allowed a trampoline because I would have destroyed a bone or 6. I'm just too clumsy for things like trampolining or skiing.

Oh gosh i LOVE trampolines! I had one for a brief and beautiful period when I was about 6/7. Then my older brother (6'4 and BIG dude) got a lil carried away and jumped a hole right through the middle!! >:o using other people's trampolines was always the main perk of babysitting gigs as a teenager hahaha

I always make my mum SIT on my feet while I lie on the sofa…. ahahaha is that creepy?! My feet are always cold so I appreciate the body warmth. Plus I find that weight on my feet comforting…haha weirdo.

I was probably most sore – or sore for the longest period of time – after my marathon last year. My quads KILLED me for about a week. Stairs (especially going down) was a nightmare. I ran a half last weekend but this time my quads were mostly okay but my calves hurt afterwards. My boyfriend is a personal trainer and he said that's a good thing — shows my form has improved/i'm running 'better'. He said my quads should never have hurt and it's an indication I wasn't running with correct form. Interesting!
