Speed Day Monday: I love doing my speed day on Monday because my legs are screaming for a run after a rest day:) It was hard peeling myself out of bed though…wouldn’t that be awesome if there was a magic pill that made getting up in the morning feel good and super easy? My dad is an inventor…I will tell him to get working on making that asap.
Today I did 13.1 miles, 1% incline in 1:29:21…..that is 3 minutes faster than last week and I feel pretty good about it. I guess speed training and hill workouts are helping!


I did mile repeats throughout the first hour of the run (anywhere between 6:10-6:45) with 800′s at a slower pace (anywhere between 7:00-7:24). For the last part I ran at a 7:01 pace….I do need to work on some negative splits though.
Call me a weirdo but I love the end of a workout where I feel like I am going to puke. I know that I pushed myself past what I thought possible. What should my goal be for my 1/2 marathon in 19 days?

My favorite workout ever is when I get to go spinning with my sister. We went a few times this summer in NYC, and I loved working out with her. I also love swimming!

Favorite distance is the half marathon. Though I've only run it twice. I love that it's hard but yet totally doable and you don't feel wiped out after. Oh and candy? Reeses PB Cups. Though I ate almost an entire box of Mike & Ikes today. I was channeling my inner HRG–now I just need to put in some serious miles on the treadmill.

My favorite mileage so far I think is 5-6 I love my longer runs, because I can now get to Interlaken and some really gorgeous roads to run along from my place!
My favorite distance is 5 miles, which sounds odd, but it's the length of this amazing trail loop by my office, with a wicked hill (I call it the Death Hill) right in the middle, and amazing scenery, and oh man, it's a loop that makes me want to take running back to middle school and get it pregnant.

I've been running for years, but it still usually takes a few miles for me to get in the groove. Once everything clicks, though, there is nothing better than settling in and just letting myself move.

Awesome work on your run!!! Since I'm preggo with baby #3 right now my fab distance is 5 miles. After that I am peeing myself unless I ca find a place to use the bathroom:). When not knocked up I like an 8 mile run. Just the right distance because I can get it done in an hour and that doesn't take too much time away from the fam. I just started following you and I'm loving it! My favorite workout would be from CorePower Yoga-the Yoga sculpt class. It incorporated weights and cardio exercise with a hint of yoga moves in a 100 degree room. I felt great afterward!

I love running a 10k distance. I always find the first few miles of any race brutal so 5k's just feel like a struggle the whole time. There's something about hitting mile 4 that feels great and then smooth sailing in past mile 6! I also loooove gummy peaches, skittles, and tootsie rolls after working out!

my favorite distance is 10 mile to a half marathon. I seriously love distance…I feel so good after and it feels good to know that I have worked hard enough to be able to run that far…I get in some serious me time and just time away from everything else to push myself to the limit but feel good and relaxed after. Plus…I can tell I am getting better because I am able to run these distances faster and faster. My favorite workout is when I push myself throughout but still have the energy to have my fastest miles at the end of a run…leaves me feeling confident and strong and just itching for my next run

My fave distance to run is, well, any. Ha! Nah – I think I'll go with 8 miles. It's far enough that I feel like I've done something but I can get it in before work.
I've fallen in love with two things: running five miles and doing bricks. I love biking first and then running to push my body. Technically it's to prepare for triathlons, but it's also just such a crazy test. The first time I did it I thought I might die, and now I can push harder and run faster and it's so cool to see how the body adjusts over time. And running five miles has become a new obsession. I have a five mile race in March and I've been trying to improve my time. It started with getting my body to run five miles without stopping, and now it's a test to see how fast I can do it. Really, my favorite workout is anytime I'm preparing for a race. I love it.
WOW 1:29…insane! ok, your goal in 19 days should be to take 3 more minutes off. is that even possible? i mean, you ran it 3 minutes faster today that you did a week ago…so you'd have 19 days to take off 3 more mins. my race is sunday and i'm hoping for a 2:00.

Only to follow said run with a salad eaten out of the spinach container from Costco. Plus, I can now do my makeup in 3 minutes thanks to her awesome video! My favorite workout is 8x400yd hill repeats. There is this scenic drive called 5 Mile Drive in Tacoma, WA and I found a beautiful hill that was 1/4 mile long with a view of the Puget Sound and trees and just God's handy work all around. There was no way to be miserable running hill repeats there. I would sprint up and jog down as many times as I could before my bootie would fall off. I miss it there. I would give anything to be able to go there tomorrow, even in the pouring rain, to run hill repeats. Sigh.

My favorite workout totally varies. I feel like I know what I need to get to the happy place, and I do it. Right now I am doing the long runs on Saturday with a training group (to prepare for the second race of my life) … never done that, really liking it. I love the solitude of running alone after a busy day of interacting. I love to swim, but only when the lap lane is empty, and the running fitness really translates well to the water for me. I like some cardio kickbox when I am feeling fiesty. And I love me some clubbin cardio dance class when I am feeling lazy, and I know at a minimum I will get a good core workout laughing at myself in the mirror.
I'm hoping my favorite distance will be a half marathon but my first one is still a couple weeks away. There's always going to be a part of me that loves aerobics though. I used to teach aerobics in college and now that I'm poor from my school loans I miss belonging to a gym where I can do it.

I LOOOOOVE following your blog! You are awesome! My fave race distance is the 1/2 marathon, but I love running a 6.2 practice 10K in training. I love running many 1/2s throughout the year so that I am constantly training for something. So far this year i am registered for 5. San Diego Safari Park, Pediactric Cancer support run in Irvine, Disneyland (my fave), Long Beach and Big Sur!
BTW…my fave 2 candies are…airheads sour belts (the multi colored striped ones they have at the movies) and fun dip!

I am trying to love working out, as you know. I actually went to my first spin class last week…inspired by you (and a co-worker who emailed and said she was going and did i want to meet her? So yes! I would like to meet her there and have a workout buddy. Since Janae isn't nearby and inviting me to workout with her. As if i could even keep up.)
But my favorite candies…so many choices. So hard to choose. I love chocolates with other stuff added (caramel, mint, fruity flavors, etc.) but my favorite treats are either baked goods or frozen…Golden Spoon (I already discussed this yesterday) and Gelato, ice cream etc. I love pies of almost any kind. I love making my famous toffee…which I will make for you when we meet.
I'm going to be flying from Boston to LAX to Boston to Boston to LAX to Boston to Boston to LAX to Boston to Boston to LAX to Boston to Salt Lake City this week, so I won't be able to get online much. But have the most wonderful 25th birthday! So sad that we aren't going to be 24/42 any more.

My favorite workout ever was a group bike ride I did in 2009. It was winter, it was cold, it was wet, it was miserable. By mile 25, we had lost ALL of the men to someplace warmer than the road. We had also lost some women, but at mile 45, I was SO proud to finish our ride completely with 6 other women! We were strong that day!I didn't think I could do it…
But I Did!
Then I cried in my car for 15 minutes before my feet warmed up enough to be able to drive home.
Ahhhh…now that's a good workout!

Favorite race distance is the 100 meter freestyle. (in swimming) Fast and SHORT. If you do it right, you can barely climb out of the pool because you are so wiped.
I think that's why running any longer than to the end of my street is so hard. I'm a sprinter at heart. Oh well, I WILL conquer the marathon!

my favorite distance to run is probably 7, though i usually run 6 to 6.5. i guess whenever i do 7, i feel even more accomplished! however, i want to be able to run 9-10 miles more regularly. i ran that much at least once a week for about 3 weeks this summer at the peak of my summer training for cross country season and i loved it. mostly because i got to run to the ocean and back through the woods
of course, i got nothin' on you!
as for speed work, i like 400s and 800s.

I'm new to running, but so far my favorite distance is 5 miles..mostly cause thats the longest I've gone and the sense of accomplishment is awesome!
My favorite workout is Plyometrics moves (burpees, mountain climbers, squat jumps, etc..). It's a great compliment to running and really works so many muscles. I find it such a rewarding mental challenge to get through!

I think my favorite workout would have to be a speed session, it hurts while you do it but feels soo good knowing that you did it after! A close 2nd would have to be a really hard lifting session! I am having to sacrifice muscle for running but since I am not going to be a figure girl I have to have some sort of goal!
I love doing speed workouts too. My favorite are hill repeats. They always seems so easy and then by the end you feel like death … in a delightful way! Oh, and I love chocolate covered blueberries. Oh heavens they are delicious

I love doing 5Ks. They are attainable to everyone so you have such a variety from beginners to full on sprinters. They are fun and pressure free.

I love ten miles (to run not to race). It's long enough that you feel really accomplished but it can be done (somewhat) I'm a whim.
My favorite race distance is the half marathon. It is the perfect distance for me-I have tried everything from 5ks to marathons, but have found that the half is the perfect blend of speed and endurance. I feel like I can dial into a competitive pace without having to go so fast that I miss all the amazing race scenery around me, but I don't have to run so long that I am counting the mile markers. I also love it because I can do training runs that are longer than the actual race distance, so on race day I can toe the line knowing that I have run 13 miles or more more times that I can count on my unpolished fingers and runner-deformed toes!

Favorite workout is doing a run on the elliptical using a level 5 incline and level 2 resistance and working in some aerobic work because it makes you go backwards and works different muscles

My favorite workout EVA was actually a recent race…it was a half-ironman triathlon called Troika – my first half-ironman and I fell in complete and total love with that race distance. 1.2 mile swim/56 mile bike/13.1 mile run.

I work at a little store that sells local college gear, which is about 1.5 miles away from my house. Having said that, my favorite workout is running to work and back. This forces me to run on one of the main roads in my town which gives me the motivation to keep going even when it hurts. I know people are constantly watching me and it's like I'm embarrassed if I stop! And I'm also going to say my favorite candy HAS to be peanut butter m&ms!! I'm a google-reader follower! My fave distance is 18-20 miles. So SATISFYING! that is my breaking point between feeling great and feeling too sore the next day (that is, over 20 will make me sore).
distance–18 miles on the treadmill (i am a weirdo who LOOOOOVES the tread and HATES running outside. nuts, i know). candy…well, right now i'm eating cinnamon gummy bears and they are delicious, but this afternoon i was eating sour gummy worms and they were also delicious, but yesterday i had some hard root beer barrels that were pretty tasty too, and i've never been one to walk away from chocolate either, so…yeah. picking a favorite's not possible for this girl.

Officially a follower (I've de-lurked)! I kind of think this giveaway was made for me because Swedish fish are my FAVORITE CANDY.
I am obsessed with the reusable coffee mugs…I might have 2 of the tall starbucks ones just incase I get lazy and don't want to handwash it daily…chocolate is another vital staple in my diet….I suppose I am getting a bit carried away.
So my favorite distance is crossing that half marathon line at 13.1 miles and favorite candy is SWEDISH FISH and reese peanut butter cups are very close second but I consider that my favorite chocolate candy. It's obviously important and completely normal to have these distinctions!

my favorite run ever is the running I get to do when I am on vacation with my family down the shore. I get to not only run along the beach, but also through the little beach town watching families trying to get their little kids out to the beach early. It is truly during this run that I really am able to appreciate my health, as well as all of the good things that I have in my life!

My favorite workout is strength training! I love the feeling of my muscles burning after a good workout. Shoulder exercises KILL, so I prefer squats and calf exercises. I also love the feeling of being sore – like I really WORKED.

So, my favorite distance…I am not going to lie…I heart a 5k. love to go balls to the wall for that short distance. I really think that I am beginning to love a 1/2 marathon also though since as I have grown as a runner I now think of myself as a distance runner and I get into my groove at about mile 7 or 8…

I'll tell you both my fave distance and my fave candy. I love the 15k. It's like the perfect story: a beginning, middle, and end. Long enough to let your legs loose, but short enough to keep a fast pace.

My favorite workout is any type of run outside–any type of weather. I just get too bored on a treadmill..unfortunately it's been so icy lately that all I can do is treadmill. I can't wait for summer mornings, running when the sun comes up

My favorite work out, hmmmm. I really like working out and running, but my favorite way to get exercise is probably pilates, aerobics, or dancing… something where I'm doing moves if you know what I mean! ha.

Favorite workout? Hot Yoga! I want to run so bad but I've got mad shin splints and it is soooo hard for me to get started. A half marathon is on my list of to-do's though! Will you help me train? I am totally willing to come stay with you for a week during spring break… I'm not creepy at all. Promise.

I think my favorite distance is a half marathon because it's long enough to make you feel hard core but short enough so I'm not constantly doubting myself.
My favorite workout in the whole world is Zumba at my local Y when this woman Jenny teaches it. She turns off the lights and has a little disco ball and turns up the music really loud so that it feels like a total party. I always leave a total sweaty beast too.
Also twinner sunglasses with you actually sounds like the greatest present ever. Such fun!
I subscribe! My favorite distance is 5K because I'm a little lazy. Also, for us slow runners any other distance takes well over an hour.

fave distance is probably 9 miles…pushes me far, i feel wiped out, but not so horrendous i cant move. on the treadmill, i really like pyramids, where i increase the speed every 2 min, then back down, back up again…makes the time fly by, and adds on the miles quickly.

My favorite distance to run is the farthest I have run so far, 10k! I ran a 10k Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning…good stuff
