Tuesday’s HIGHlights.

December 14, 2010

First Highlight:

I feel like a celebrity.

I was on Skinnyrunner.com

A few months ago I could only dream of being on her blog.

She runs marathons weekly, has a gorgeous S. Cali glow and is absolutely hilarious.

If you want my autograph just let me know.  My mom already has your addresses because of the weekly check she sends you to be my friend so I will send them out right away.

Lowlight: The world now knows how weird I am.

Second Highlight:

I ran 14 miles before school with NO pains anywhere.  It was gnarly.

7:57 average, 1% incline.

Lowlight:  I didn’t wash my hair (it is due for a cleaning) and it is grease city because I ran out of time by saying, “Just one more mile.”  Running trumps hair washing hair anyday.

Third Highlight of the Day:

I had the most amazing pear I have ever had in my life.

If I had to choose between this pear and a bag a skittles…I would choose the pear.

Please note: If i had to choose between Swedish Fish and the pear, I would wrap the pear in Swedish Fish. You couldn’t make me choose.

Lowlight: I have one less delicious pear.  They are disappearing fast.

IMG_2747.JPG

After Billy took this picture he said, “Pretty creepy smile you had in this one.”

I replied, “Perfect, that is just what I was going for.”

What was the highlight of your Tuesday?

What is your absolute favorite fruit?

-Mine changes to whatever I have in my hand.  Today it is a pear but if I HAD to choose (this is tougher than it sounds) it would be a mango the size of my head. I had the best mango of my life in St. Martin.

spabettie.com December 14, 2010 at 6:19 pm

I had an awesome pear last week… and this week, the grapefruits are SO fabulously delicious I cannot believe it.

oh so yum.

LOl, you crack me up! My favorite fruit is and will always be a banana. There is something about them I love plus Mr. Guru hates them! I think secretly that makes me want them more!

Today's highlight? Last day of classes! I've officially survived my first semester of professor-dom!

And I believe that peaches are just about the perfect fruit ever made (grown?). I wish it were a year-round fruit.

I followed over to your blog from SR. I was ClB a couple of weeks ago, and it is exactly like being a celebrity! Fun to find you – good luck this spring!

Katie December 14, 2010 at 6:28 pm

Pomegranates :D and cantaloupe when it is at its perfect ripeness!

Highlight: Glee is on in a half hour! My day was apparently very dull it took me a half hour just to think of ANYTHING. Ooooh but I just thought of another one, my fiance did amazing during his observation today :)

Reply

Matt December 14, 2010 at 6:35 pm

What kind of pear was it? Bartlett?

Reply

Caroline December 14, 2010 at 6:38 pm

Fav fruit hands down pineapple…love them more then they love me (can bring up the heartburn issues real fast). Highlight of today…hmm still to come..coaching my 4 yrs old son basketball game tonight!

Crafty Jogger December 14, 2010 at 6:41 pm

My fav is blueberries. They are delicious and take zero prep time! My favorite fruit used to be strawberries, but strawberries take too much work. I really HHHAATTTEEE chopping food. I am super poor and stingy, but I will still splurge on the pre-chopped onions/fajita veggies/sliced pinapple. However, right now most fruit is too expensive so I just buy a ridiculous amount of blackberries and bananas…they are the cheapest winter fruit that doesn't involve any chopping/prep time.

Ooh, I LOVE mangos and I LOVE St. Martin! Really fantastic food on the French side!! I could really use some sunshine right now!!!

So great for a long and pain free run!! I am SO happy for you!!! My fab fruit is grapes, or blueberries, by I love Anjou pears in the winter, and apples, and oranges, and well all fruit. I would live off of fruit if they would let me!

Reply

Keri December 14, 2010 at 6:49 pm

Yay! I felt like a celebrity when I was on her blog too :) Amazing that you have no more pain! Yay for Boston training!

Reply

runyogarepeat December 14, 2010 at 6:53 pm

I just went to an amazing yoga class…definitely the highlight of my day or the samosa cakes + veggies I'm eating now.

I love basically all fruits – some of my favs are blueberries, strawberries, papaya, and fresh Honey Crisp apples! Ah now I want some summer fruit!

Reply

Shannon December 14, 2010 at 6:56 pm

Every year at work we get a big box of fruit (grapefruit, apples, oranges, and pears). The pears this year have been a-maze-ing!

Highlight of my day was finishing 2 tests. One more to go on Thursday, and I'm done!

Reply

misszippy December 14, 2010 at 6:59 pm

So great that you are pain-free! And love the creepy pear shot–good stuff!

My highlight was running 8 miles w/ friends this morning in 22-degree temps w/ single-digit windchills!

Reply

J December 14, 2010 at 6:59 pm

14 miles on the treadmill! Wow. Insane. The weather was against me and it took me an hour to get home so no run :( Hopefully tomorrow!

I love all fruit and just love to eat what is in season. My favorite is raspberries and blueberries!

Reply

ERG December 14, 2010 at 7:01 pm

I love pears too, but really love STRAWBERRIES & BLUEBERRIES.

My highlights were: a) NOT getting rained on for an hour and a half this morning while running.

b)seeing your geeky picture…just kidding…watching my kid row a rubber raft on our swimming pool

and ..
c) finding out that KARA GOUCHER will be at Boston!

Swedish fish. Can't. Go. Wrong. With. That.

Highlight was braving a tornado warning for love of my dog :-)

Highlight of my Tuesday … "happy hour" … the hour where 3 of my kids swim, 2 of them are happily watched by the awesome staff at the gym, and I work myself like mad for the hour because I know it is exactly what I need. Today was a 4 mi @ 8.0 on the treadmill followed by chest/shoulders/tri in the weight room.

Favorite fruit … grapefruit?

Kara in Boston? I may need to re-prioritize my life and get myself there.

fitchocoholic December 14, 2010 at 7:17 pm

I love reading your blog…you're so hilarious!!!!
Today's highlights were 1. I didn't have any school, and 2. I got an awesome workout in!
Oh and my favorite fruits are apples, bananas (especially the ones we get in South America…so sweet!), pears and grapes. And I actually had a hard time just picking 4 fruits! =D

Reply

Kimberly December 14, 2010 at 7:22 pm

I, too, felt famous when I was on SR. Congrats!

I had the most amazing cantaloupe today. I could have eaten the whole thing. Even though it's not my favorite. The favorite spot goes to the banana, the super ripe banana.

Reply

Lisa December 14, 2010 at 7:29 pm

What an awesome day!! I'll have to check out skinnyrunner, she sounds really cool.

I've totally had those experiences when I bite into a piece of fruit and it's absolutely exceptional! I love pears and apples! I'm actually having a great pear right now! Yum!

Reply

Briana December 14, 2010 at 7:33 pm

Congrats on SR linkage. Totally bad-a**. Now I have another runner to keep tabs on (and for the record, you seem just as funny as her).

Favorite fruit? Random (I know) but a persimmon, hands down. Don't knock it till you try it. :-)

thanks for letting me be one of your highlights. now please go wash your hair. thats all.

Reply

Suzanad December 14, 2010 at 8:20 pm

I love fruits… but I would say a coconut. Hopefully that's a fruit!

Highlight was the house being 100% cleaned (we're university students living without parents haha). We can now see the floors! And we have space in the sink due to no dirty dishes chilling in there :)

Reply

Marilyn December 14, 2010 at 8:37 pm

found your blog through skinnyrunner and absolutely love it!! I, also, do not find hair washing nearly as important as everyone else does. haha, but seriously though, if it doesn't look greasy then why waste the time? Plus, I was also told by a hair dresser that curly/wavy-haired people shouldn't wash their hair everyday, so that's basically the law if you hear it from your stylist, right? Anyway, favorite fruit: any kind of berry, but i have also been on a delicious d'anjou pear kick lately.

Oh my goodness girl, you crack me up! :) Hair washing is overrated – I'm pretty sure I've told you that already. I can't get away with it though because with blonde hair, alllll the greasies come out to play!

Hey girl! Nice celebrity status! Love it!!

My highlight today: I went sky diving. Yep. Almost "sharted" myself, but it was unreal!

Hope you are having many more highlights this week!

Gracie (Complicated Day) December 14, 2010 at 9:37 pm

My highlight was that one of my patients baked my stollen!
And my lowlight is that I ate half of it in one sitting and now I'm just staring at this screen saying "erp".

dorrybird December 14, 2010 at 9:55 pm

I love how you can just bust out 14 miles in the morning before work. I realize this is prob your norm but as a newish reader, I think it is amazing. OK, I have to admit something to you: I don't think I've ever had a Swedish fish! But I've had about 4 million Skittles in my lifetime. Highlight of my day: running 4 painless miles – my 1st run since the half marathon. And I rode my bike to the store to buy fruit: pears, apples and bananas. I don't know if I can pick a favorite fruit but apples are so versatile and SO good with peanut butter. Could my comment be any longer?

Jenn December 14, 2010 at 10:20 pm

I will surely meet you in St. Martin tomorrow. Haven't been in almost 2 years now and I'm desperate for some sun (aka wrinkles)!!

Highlight of today: hmmmm, making my overnight mango/banana oats that i will be eating tomorrow for breakfast! i am anxious to go to bed so that i can get up earlier to eat them!

favorite fruit: janae, you know that is the HARDEST question to answer. sheesh. :) well, i would have to say mango! i love, love, love it! i can never get a perfect one, though. it's always under ripe when i cut into it, or i wait too long to eat it.

pears sound yummy. but, it makes me want brie cheese. no dairy for me for a while. :(

Reply

Meghan December 14, 2010 at 10:29 pm

I saw you on skinnyrunner.com today and I thought "that's my friend Janae.. oh wait, she's just a random blogger i don't really know.. but yay janae!"

I bought four small oranges tonight at the store for 3 and a half pesos. That's like 25 cents. They are GOOD and SEEDLESS. They win this contest.

Meg December 14, 2010 at 10:37 pm

I love your blog! I just discovered it. I shall be perusing it quite thoroughly. And I hate to say it, but I'd choose skittles over a pear anyway. A banana, however, will trump most candy.

Check out my blog if you get a chance. :) It's about training for my first triathlon. http://bestpaceissuicidepace.blogspot.com/

Bananas, blueberries, strawberries, and pomegranates. Love them all! And, of course, a really crisp Granny Smith apple.

I have to say I would rather eat a piece of chocolate cake, if given the choice.

I too have been loving pears lately…so much so that I talk about my pear and make loving sounds to it whilst I eat it in front of my students :o). Sometimes I eat my pear with a Baby Bell cheese – one bite pear, one bite cheese = delish!

My favorite fruit teeters between fresh pineapple or kiwi, but I love raspberries and ginormous blackberries too.

Today's highlight: a fast run on the treadmill followed by a new endurance weight lifting routine – it is awesome!

Happy Tuesday!!1

Highlight: going to see Santa with all my kids for the first time and then outbfor pizza. They were pleasant, cooperative, and a lot of fun…for a change. Public outings w/ all 4 tend to be disastrous.

Fave fruit: a perfect peach. Has to be perfect tho.

Fav Fruit: Red Grapes.

Love your creepy smile.

Today's highlight? Since it is 7:28 AM I can tell you my lowlight is that I am not in bed…but when am I ever in bed at 7:30 AM?

14 miles on a treadmill!? Great job! I am such a winter runner slacker.

I would say any sort of berry. Strawberry, raspberry even a yummy blackberry and if they are in icecream that is even better! You are funy and how the heck did you make 14 miles on the treadmill? I can't seem to do more then 5 miles with out wanting to stick a knife in my self from being so bored.

Saw you on skinnyrunner! I'm jealous!!

My tuesday was spent entirely on planes, but I did manage to fit in an 8 miler before my flight, so that was awesome, and I guess my highlight.

My favorite fruit is probably bananas, but when clementine season rolls around, that's all I eat!

Aww I was so excited to see you on SR! Did you see the Rave Run in this month's Runner's World? It's in UT and made me think of you!

Hold on…You've been to St Martin!? Me toooo! Just this past August.

The highlight of my Tuesday? Probably my visit to Trader Joe's. Yes, really.

My favorite fruit? It varies. Sometimes I get a little bored of apples and bananas. And I can get pretty excited about half a grapefruit, but that gets old eventually too. But I do love berries (mostly strawberries and blueberries) and a good ripe pear pretty consistently.

Reply

Jen December 15, 2010 at 10:03 am

I bought pears last night because of you! I can't wait to eat them. I'm thinking french toast or pancakes topped with them.
Congrats on being featured. I totally want your autograph.
