Movies and my MIL is trying and succeeding at making me fat

Don’t forget to enter my GIVEAWAY!!

Today was awesome as always here in Cali…minus the whole it hasn’t stopped raining since we got here Saturday thing.  At least it isn’t the foot of snow my parents got today.

We went grocery shopping with the MIL and bought half the store and then went to see Narnia with the whole fam.  I cried at the end.  I love the symbolism of the Savior in this story.

My lunch was 9 servings of wheat thins, popcorn and a pear eaten during the movie.  Going to the movies is in my top 10 favorite things to do.

We made this vegetable soup earlier on and it was ready for consumption right when we got back from the movie.  Love that.

She uses this recipe here and seriously it doesn’t get better than this. Okay, it does when you add 3 handfuls of Italian blend cheese and 1/2 a cup of tabasco.

This bowl may deceive you. It is ginormous like big enough to fit a half galloon of ice cream in at one time. Not like I would know or anything.

For dessert I made my favorite homemade bread.  You might trade in your car or your children in for this stuff, be careful.

IMG_2932.JPG

If your in-laws don’t like you, make this for them and I guarantee they will. I think I am now the favorite child, sorry Billy.

Spending the night watching Grinch and The Santa Claus

I leave you with an important questions:

Do you think my mother-in-law bought the below items for me out of…..

A: Love

B: Desire to make me fat and have type 2 diabetes

IMG_2928.JPG

p.s. Whoppers are the only candy in the world that I do not like.  I will eat anything and everything but those and olives.

What was the last movie you saw in theaters.

-Narnia today and Harry Potter over Thanksgiving break.

Name one food you can’t stand.

Oh my goodness, I also hate Whoppers! They are uber gross, in my opinion.

The last movie I saw in theaters was Despicable Me. It was in July. :(

I don't like onions. They skeeve me out. The texture is gross, and the taste is weird. Not a big fan.

I saw Harry Potter a couple weeks ago and it was fantabulous.

I really dislike lima beans. They are so mealy and disgusting.

I wish I could get those animal crackers around here but I have never seen them. they look scrumdiddlyumptious!!

I think she might think you are tooo skinny, so she's trying to fatten you up a bit so you can have grandkids :-) Anyway, I honestly think the last movie I saw in the theater was Cars wayyy back in 2006, right before we had kids! I can't find the recipe for that bread, if it's supposed to be in the link. I don't have a food I really dislike, except for random left over animal parts (tripe, feet, etc…) I'll pretty much eat anything!

Reply

I dont like mayonaise! I think the last film I saw in the cinema was a free showing of the facebook movie. I think people show their love through giving food so I am sure it was meant innocently :)

Reply

I strongly dislike Whoppers as well!

The last movie I saw was Yogi Bear in 3D–don't laugh, it was actually quite good.

I can't stand the texture of lima beans.

Reply

Olives. Is there anything more disgusting than olives? They taste like congealed puke! (sorry for the visual there)

I'll even put mushrooms in my mouth and choke them down but olives? NOPE. Gag reflex, here we come!

Reply

I saw Tron Legacy last, but not because I wanted to.

I don't like squash, mango, or strawberries. Everyone thinks the strawberry thing is weird. But I like to consider it "original." ;-)

Reply

P.S. The homemade bread link isn't taking me anywhere. Is it supposed to go to a recipe?

Reply

I saw Tangled.

Liver makes me gag… and vomit.

Reply

That bread looks fabulous!

I think she bought you that stuff out of love!

I love Whoppers!

I can't even remember the last movie I saw in the theaters. Sad, I know.

I hate carrots! YUCK!

Reply

That soup looks good. I think it's the cheese that's calling me.

The kids and I saw Megamind in the theaters last. It was really pretty darn funny!

Reply

Agree – I hate whoppers. They make my teeth get cringy, like biting a wooden popsicle stick.

We saw Tron on Sunday. Before then, it was Star Trek in 2008.

Reply

Your MIL = awesome! That's what they are supposed to do ;)

And I hear ya on the Whoppers. I like the sound they make when you shake them in the box, but that's the extent of it!

Reply

Oh my goodness Iced animal cookies totally love. I think the elephants taste the best, yea they totally have different flavors :)

HP7: Part 1 is awesome I saw it last week in Imax and loved it. I also saw Tron Legacy recently it's pretty entertaining not nearly as nerdy as the previous one.

Also that bread looks amazing, are those cinnammon swirls?

Reply

"Unstoppable" and Canteloupe.

Um, hello chocolate chips. Please say you're baking! And the soup looks good too!

Reply

movie- the tourist
I absolutely cannot stand olives or anything with too much gooey caramel. I don't mind caramel in small doses, but its too sweet for me! =D
By the way, that soup looks wonderful, and seriously, what isn't better with cheese on it?

Reply

I hate olives, too! Brent doesn't understand how I can love pickles and hate olives (he's not a fan of either), but it makes perfect sense to me!

Last movie in theaters? I think it was 127 Days, which was two weeks ago! How did I let that happen? Not to worry, though – I'll make up for it on Christmas Day.

Reply

I haven't had frosted animal cookies in forever!! When ever I go to the Future MIL's house she spoils me too! She even says that she loves me more than her son! he he I love it!

last movie I saw in theaters…hmm I can't even remember. Its been a long time. I usually just wait till they come out on DVD…

oh and I hate whoppers too.

Reply

We saw Tron last weekend. It had been a really long time since we saw a movie in the Theater.

I hate coconut because of the texture.

Reply

I think the last movie I saw in a theater was the last batman movie (a long time ago)

how could you eat everything candy/chocolate and not whoppers?!

Anchovies! and Durian (not just due to the smell).

Reply

Last movie: Harry Potter

Food I can't eat: lobster- tried it once, thought it was horrible!

I am always up for new recipes, so I am going to try that soup and that bread! They look delish!

Reply

MIL loves you! No chance of you getting chubby! You are WAY TOO ACTIVE!

So, Narnia is a must see, huh?! We want to check out "Little Fockers"! Last movie I saw in a theater was "Eclipse"! I know, I know.

Won't eat: olives, coconut, beef or pork

Reply

I HATE whoppers and olives too! In university we sent the boys out (who were legal ahaha) to buy us booze and chocoalte and they came back with those. I was highly depressed!

THe last movie I saw was actually a stand up comedy show by louis CK! Loved it!

Reply

I used to like whoppers but they make my teeth hurt!!! I don't know why.

Last movie I saw was HARRY POTTER! Woo! :D
I HATE tiramisu. Bleugh.

Reply

i saw Love and Other Drugs two weeks ago, it was egh. too depressing.

i cannot stand the taste of pineapple, which is a shame because it is so good for you. and mushrooms. blech.

Reply

Reading your blog always makes me sooo hungry. That soup looks delicious!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE most food, BUT….
foods I don't like: anything seafood (no fish, no lobster, no shrimp, no crab, blehhhh), beef jerky, and diet sodas.

I've ALWAYS hated seafood. I'll try a few bites every year or so, but always feel like I'm about to puke from it. It's ironic because when we have holidays at my family's house…my dad makes EVERYTHING seafood. He stuffs the turkey with crawfish, he makes shrimp for the sides, etc… I always bring my own food because there isn't a tone of food I can eat! lol

Reply

I saw SALT in theaters last week. It was good, but I left feeling a little bit confused. I always HATE Whoppers. Sick.

Reply

Omigosh, that soup looks amazzzing! Bread too! Your posts always make me want to run to the kitchen and start baking!
I actually don't love olives either, and raw onions make me cry so I refuse to eat them. I'm kind of a picky eater when it comes to protein too – I only like 2 brands of powder and 3 types of bars. It's terrible. But worst of all is eggnog. The family always likes to do a toast with it, and I can't even look at it.
I saw Tron Legacy. At Imax. With the guys. Obviously I am also a teenage boy ;)

Thanks for your comment on my blog! It was really scary to get my knee checked out, but all things considered it wasn't terrible news and I'm definitely going to focus on the activities I can do :)

Enjoy your holiday treats!!

I think she just loves you – and I LOVE whoppers!

Reply

LOVE, and she may think your too skinny.. :)

I HATE Lima beans!!!!!!

i also saw Narnia! great movie but i could have lived without the whole serpent scene! (dying to see "the fighter" though)

I HATE PINEAPPLES! they are my WORST food.
that fruit bowl looked good, but i think i might skip the cottage cheese???

Reply

I just discovered your blog and I really think it's great ! I just find it a bit disturbing that you make comments about being "chubby" or "fat". You are SO skinny and work out A LOT so I hope that those are just very sarcastic jokes!!

Ummmm how about raw broccoli? I HATE it. Weird thing is that I will eat it cooked. LOL

Reply

Can't stand mushrooms. Even the smell of them cooking makes me gag.

Reply

I hate olives too.

I am pretty sure that Dan's mom would LOVE to make me fat again. Seriously. Despite me educating her on weight training and eating, when I see her twice a year, I always have to hear about how she wants muscle she doesn't have and what I have that she wants. It's odd

Reply

Love the title! Your MIL would be hard pressed to make you fat honey! You're itty bitty!! Backtracking to your last post, I just might sweat more than you! Honestly I have to bring a towel on the treadmill to wipe down the back of my legs and my shorts because I literally start to turn into a sprinkler to those around me. Just GROSS! You work out harder than me but I really do think I have one up in the sweat dept-ha!

I LOVE LOVE tabasco. That soup looks SO good. I think I'm going to go make soup right now. I really need to stop reading your blog. I am also going to make that bread:)

Took my daughter Reese to see "You Again" a couple of months ago.

Don't like Whoppers. LOVE olives. Can't stand water chesnuts! They GAG me! Merry Christmas!!

Reply

Those iced animal crackers are calling my name. Your MIL obviously loves you, hence all the treats. She's trying to go straight to your heart with food. :)

Reply

I've never met an animal cracker I didn't like. But I can't stand pineapple. Ew.

Reply

I saw Harry Potter over Thanksgiving, too. Love me some HP.

That bread looks like the Swedish tea ring my family makes. I have to make two tomorrow. It takes FOREVER, but it's soooo good!

Reply

I do not I do not like Green Eggs and Ham, haha just kidding. But I really do not like Sushi. At all. :|
The last movie was Megamind I think. Your MIL sounds like my Grandma…but those sweets are so good! They know we love them!! :D
Merry Christmas
-A new reader, Tori

I am so sorry you came to California this week! Just 2 weeks ago it was 80 and sunny and now THIS yucky wet messs. It should stop by tonight or tomorrow so I hope you are able to enjoy some sun and warmth here in CA!

Reply

I'm a new reader! Love your perspective on food, candy, running and life in general.

Candy is always given out of love, I refuse to imagine anything different.
I do not like eggs or shrimp. Oh and sorry but cottage cheese too – yew!

Merry Christmas y'all!

Reply

I LOVE going to the movies too! How sad is it, though, that I literally cannot remember the last one I went to! BUT – I won movie tickets from our secret Santa gift exchange from work – date night, here I come!!

I would definitely say your MIL knows your love for candy and so did this out of love (since you are her favorite now). ;)

Reply

We hardly go to the movies. I usually end up taking my kiddos several times a year. My husband is 6'6" so he doesn't fit comfortably in the chairs. We are going to see Yogi tomorrow. I can't wait to make the vegetable soup! Olives & Mushrooms both make my do not like list.

Reply

I LOVE the movies. I saw the Fighter on monday night with my guy and his brother (who used to box) and it was a good one. Very inspiring! And yeah, olives. CANNOT STAND olives. Although my list also includes: coconut, banana peppers, spicy sausage, peanut brittle.

OLIVES. Enough said.

I am down for a blogger trip to Ireland!

Last movie I saw in theaters, I believe, was The Backup Plan. I want to see Harry Potter sooo bad!

I will NOT eat ham, but those Whoppers do look quite delicious!

I think I about ate my computer screen looking at that bread. Seriously.
